Never did infinite baffle sub always wanted a pickup but the idea of shoving a box in a limited amount of cabin space is why I never got one but this build here is awesome. Maybe I can get a pick up now. I like it it's dope and it looks like it's very musical I like lows but they don't have to be to that low I rather some thing in the middle. I have 8x IB318's in the ceiling of my home theater, and an Acoustic Elegance IB15AU in my car. I recently got a new truck and have been wondering how I can do a clean install with the IB. Very very very few people have attempted this, but IB gives extremely clean and low bass. I am all about sound quality, and I also use a MiniDSP in my car and theater. I'd really like to make this work in my truck but I haven't decided if I'm willing to cut through the back of my cab. Kudos to your IB truck install!

I would be awesome to see a cab of a truck get reinforced and sealed to be used kind of like a box. its not perfect but it would give some interesting output. Also To be able to keep this as a infinite baffle it would need to be the same surface area as the cone leading into the cab or else your making a very short transmission line. Its way off tune but can raise the FS Of the Woofer 8-12 Hz losing Low-end output.

This is basically just separation of the sub's front sound wave from the back wave - needs just little power to be loud as hell - a dude from Finland had infinite baffle with 4 18s on 8K RMS, and he pushed 160+ dB, also he made a "tornado" on the 20ish frequencies. Also infinite baffle setup have practically zero group delay - so this is the best possible SQ subwoofer system in theory, but on the other hand, there is a need to be careful with the power because the sub's cone is practically not damped...so...

I've got (4)Fi IB3-18s in an attic mounted IB in my home.
    Some additional info addressing that vibration;
if you could go two drivers, dual opposed, with a vertical manifold blow thru, you wouldn't have that reactionary vibration bouncing off the pickup bed.
Any box vibration at all is dimished bass clarity and detail.
In a dual opposed, all reactionary energy is nulled.
No offense intended, hell you likely already know this.
Another way to tighten this install up is mount a cargo bar across, with an expandable bolt vertically... simply securing it to the bed.

That's the thing, amplification with an IB isn't a big challenge.
I use Behringer EP4000, high quality amplifiers aren't really needed.
It only requires 300w per IB3-18 to hit full stroke... they're not fighting the box volume air spring that most all subs encounter.

people dont understand how much 1 watt sensitvity makes a difference, car subs fall on there face with with thousands of watts in a large space because of of there super low sensitivty at 86-88 db. . . if you do the math the best car subs can hit about 118-120 db with about 1500 watts in half space[IE large area with no walls. near bye . ]. . , ,this more or less becomes another 12-20 db because of cabin gain in the car. . . this means 140db plus in the car, mean while pro audio with there 99db sensitivity and often hit 128db--134db] in a half space with a ussual 400-1000 watts. . . put that in a car [seldom people ever do] but if you were to in theeoy you would hit 154db with as low as 500-1000 watts . . and you should be able to keep up with 140db 1500 watt car systems with as little as 200-300 watts because of how sensitive Pro PA speakers are. . not sure if your ware but if i remeber correctly IB set is the lowest gain from cabinet possible. . if i remember correctly Infite baffle is 0db, sealed is +3db, ported is +6db, bandpass is +9db. . . [rember each 3db equal the equvilant to adding a compltely speaker, so a bandpass is 3 times as loud compared to a IB on the same exact wattage. . either way, super cool, super unique. . my only concern would be some one stealing it

I ordered (2) 12in variations of the same brand, I was gonna do (1) 15 but they only came in 2 or 4 ohm, thus I wanna run the amp @ 1 ohm thus I pulled the trigger on (2) 12in 2 ohms to reach that 1 ohm load and from what I gather (2) 12in subs have more surface area than (1) 15in.
The reason Im reaching out to you is because Im trying to determine what made/inspired you to design your box in that size you did. Port recommendations?
I would really love your input, Id like to put/copy your build/tweak look at the data thru "WinISD" and install (1) 12in sub on each side of the bed (similar box as yours) and then install/relocate the battery to the rear of the bed (in between the sub enclosures)..
Any thoughts/guidance would greatly greatly be appreciated!! By chance did you also install a farad cap for deep peaks/bass drop?
The ultimate goal is to compete in an SQ class and I have reason to believe your set up/build will get me there, plus my love for music. All kinds from: rap (old school snoop easy-e), dubstep ,country, blues, classic rock and even some classical..
I plan on doing 2 sets of 6.5 components in the front and 2 subs blow thru IFB, and 2 amps (similar size and power) and I thought of an epicenter for some music to add that "digital experience" (some music lacks the full bass notes lol)

Just so you know. Skar under rates there amps. So that amp is more than likely pushing 1,000 RMS @ 2ohm's. I have the RP 1200.1 that clamps at 2,000 RMS @ 1ohm. Even there 350.1 is clamping 600 or more at 1ohm. But that is only if you have the power to feed the amp it's self. So if your only on stock alternator an upgrade battery that is not going to get full power out of the amp. You may not even be seeing 600 out of it on 2ohm

I imagine the chamber is acting as a port and it is definitely affecting rolloff on the top and bottom of the frequency band. If it was installed in the cab wall with nothing in front or behind the cone ,it would act differently

Thank you very much for posting this...I have a sedan... would it be possible to do something similar in the trunk?

Yes free air is perfect for sedans. You can mount the subs in the parcel shelf or if your car has a ski hatch mount them on a baffle against the back seats. It is a bit of work though as to do it properly all gaps have to be sealed up to ensure the trunk area is separated from the cars interior

You're welcome Bro, I'm doing the same in my sedan (I'll be using 2 Acoustic Elegance 15's), but a sound shop is going to handle the install. If you're going to DIY maybe check online, You might find some tips and tricks.

    Good video,
Be careful showing your registration if people can get any personal info off it. I did'nt really look if its readable but posting anything like your address or something on YT isnt a great idea. Just thought id mention it if it hasnt already. Killer setup!
