  • Most baby products appear to make you're life easier, but in reality they are just extra clutter that will make your life more stressful!! Here's what you ACTUALLY need for baby's first year.
    Whether you're a minimalist or just trying to save money, I'll help you decide what to buy or put on your registry. Hint - baby doesn't need much!!
    I hope this is helpful!! If you have any questions at all, please leave a comment below!
    Here are items I used with all 3 of my kids and would recommend you get. You can purchase them from Amazon, but you can also often find them for very cheap or free from other families looking to give them away (check Facebook, Craigslist, etc).
    1. Clothing
    - I recommend organic cotton when possible and love brands like Hanna Anderson & Primary if you plan to buy new, but we get almost all of our clothes as hand-me-downs from other families.
    - Other options: amzn.to/2Wlf4f3
    2. Sleeping
    - Muslin swaddles: amzn.to/2KmDpib
    - Air Purifier (we have the smaller version of this): austinair.com/shop/the-bedroo...
    - White Noise Machine (I honestly have not tried this, but giving it as an alternative to the air purifier): amzn.to/3p0eFel
    - Room Darkening Shades: amzn.to/3r8looE
    3. Bathing
    - Infant bath tub (not completely necessary): amzn.to/3nGHIDq
    - Fingernail Clippers: amzn.to/2IMbXtw
    4. Diapering
    - Cloth Diapers (one of the MANY options): amzn.to/3mjFGHS
    - Cloth Wipes (or cut up old t-shirts): amzn.to/3mrhxzz
    - Disposable Diapers: amzn.to/2IU1I6I
    - Disposable Wipes: amzn.to/3oXkglX
    - Nipple Butter (use on your nipples, as diaper cream, on stretch marks): amzn.to/37sJL8u
    - Wet bag: amzn.to/2KeYuv5
    5. Eating
    High chair: amzn.to/34jxZv9 (this isn't the one we have, but I love that this has more cloth than plastic!)
    6. Carrying
    Boba Wrap: amzn.to/3qVZXqJ
    Swing (great for 2nd or 3rd kid): amzn.to/34jy2aj
    Convertible Carseat (the one thing I would buy new; cheaper at Costco): amzn.to/38bhFhr
    Jogging Stroller (we got ours used): amzn.to/3gYdd9R
    7. Playing
    Natural Toys (or just use household items):
    waldorfmoraine.square.site/sh...
    www.novanatural.com/baby
    www.bellalunatoys.com
    Here are things you DON'T NEED:
    1. Bows/headbands/"cute" clothes that are impractical (like dresses, tights, sweaters)
    2. Sleep sacks, crib, crib mattress/bumpers/mobile, co-sleeper, pack n play
    3. Fancy infant bathtub, baby bath towels or wash cloths, soap
    4. Changing mat, changing table, disposable diaper bin w/ refills, diaper bag, diaper creams, travel changing mat
    5. Pump, bottles, pacifier, baby spoons/plates/bowls, sippy cup, boppy nursing pillow
    6. Bouncer, Mamaroo, infant carseat, regular stroller
    7. Play-mat, tons of toys, anything battery powered

    Don't be fooled by other "minimalist" videos! You probably don't even need half of what they say you do! Interested in more extreme minimalism? Check out my newest minimalist video: ruclips.net/video/aOAK1f-gMg0/видео.html.

    I think the only reason why this video don’t have a million likes is because most of us are so badly influenced by the endless (most useless) stuff te market has for babies. I love your minimalism truly gonna follow most the stuff you suggest . Very useful!

    This is what i needed when i was pregnant. Baby is now 5 weeks and I'm sure i have too much stuff whilst buying the least possible. We've had to add to it to help our breastfeeding journey and feeding in general but i still think it's minimalistic compared to a lot of others.

    Love this! I’m having my second baby and learned so much from that experience. I spend so much time, mental energy and stress on extra THINGS because I thought I needed them to give my baby the best start to life. Things like stainless steel baby/toddler utensils (which are actually pretty cool haha) and a Montessori learning placemat, I stressed that I didn’t have anything from Lovevery. Even though I think it’s a good company and I love Montessori, I got way too sucked into the 1st world, materialistic version of Montessori and I regret that.

    • @thewellnessfamily
      @thewellnessfamily  2 года назад

      Yes! So true! We've all been there, and I still think that way from time to time. We (and kids!) really don't need much!

    • @thewellnessfamily
      @thewellnessfamily  2 года назад

      Great question. I honestly have never bottle fed so maybe I'm not the best person to answer but I would by a few high quality bottles to start with. Figure out what works best for you and your baby before you invest in a lot.

    Really grateful for this video. Simple and minimal. I do have one question, i'm a first time mom and i want to cosleep but, How do you keep your baby warm at night without a sleepsack?

    • @thewellnessfamily
      @thewellnessfamily  2 года назад +1

      Good question! I make sure their top is nice and warm - like a long sleeve onesie and maybe even a long sleeve sweatshirt over that depending on the temp in your house. You can put pants on too, or I just wrap their legs in a blanket. Usually their legs are touching me belly (for some good skin to skin connection & warmth) and I have a blanket over both of us (below both of our belly buttons so its no where near their face).

    • @braria9855
      @braria9855 2 года назад +1

      If baby sleeps in our bed we use a thin swaddle as a blanket for him, and on top of that he's under our blanket along with us. My country is cold and doesn't stress all that much about "no blankets in bed" "no pillows" "only lying on back" (actually not too long ago it was normal to have baby sleep on their tummy and even now in hospitals they teach you to lay baby down on their side, not back :D )

    • @thewellnessfamily

      Yes - here is a great resource on how to co-sleep safely: www.llli.org/breastfeeding-info/sleep-bedshare/
