    You shouldn’t thrift car seats because you don’t know if it’s been in a crash before. Most manufacturers have you replace car seats after any car crash. Also make sure to check the expiration date

      As long as you inspect the seat it’s okay. The old advice was to never get used, but the new advice is that as long as there is no sign of damage it’s fine. Even if it’s been in an accident. Obviously a mild accident.

    • @typejen7930

      @@kayelizabeth560this is completely false.

    • @kirahewgley3253
      @kirahewgley3253 Год назад +15

      @@kayelizabeth560 as someone who has been through many many car seat and child car safety trainings for a previous job, this is incorrect. A car seat needs to be decommissioned and replaced even after a mild fender bender. Car seats are designed to crack after a car crash to redirect the blow from baby. Even a mild accident, rear ending, fender bender etc, there will be micro cracks that are very hard to find in the plastic and if they are not immediately replaced, they will break entirely upon the next accident, injuring your baby.

    I love this!! And it’s so true, I’ve got my second baby and youngest of 4 (as I have two step children also). I’m so minimal this time and it’s actually easier. You need less, less to look after, less to move around room to room. It also helps not having baby/newborn/clutter everywhere that only adds to a mothers anxiety and mental load.
    Love this, and daily I try to be more minimal in what I actually need/use. Xx

    The transition from 2 to 3 was also the easiest for me. (: It’s great that the older two have each other to play with during the times you can’t give your full attention. As I’m preparing for my fourth coming soon, I will frequently think of new and better things I could buy...but then I think, “Did I get by without this for my other three babies?...Yes?...Okay, we will be fine without it!” And I know those first months will fly by, and we will do just fine with what we already have. It’s a wonderful realization.

    I really love and appreciate your unique, raw and minimalist approach and advice. Thank you. With all the baby product "must haves" advertised to us (especially first time moms) it easy to get overwhelmed. I live a simplified life and new baby products are already feeling like all too much and maybe unnecessary.

    Just a note for seat safety, get it from a trusted source because lots of car seats get sold after car accidents and it’s just not the safest bet. If you don’t know if the car seat was in a wreck, buy new. It’s just a safety hazard other wise! Otherwise I agree with the rest of your tips!

    I’m expecting #3 right now. I have to disagree with the single carrier, for me personally. I have a wrap that has worked for the first few weeks, then my kids would get frustrated with it so I moved to the ring sling, which allows me hands free nursing while I’m standing/walking, and allows for multiple carry positions. After 6 months, I prefer to back-carry in my soft-structured carrier. That said, I have had one of each that I used for both my kids and will be reusing again for #3 (I had to repurchase the ring sling for this one since I gave mine away)

    This is my third or fourth time to watch this video. Love it so much!! I have a question for you and a comment.
    1. Have you tried the Bibs or Itzy Ritzy pacifiers? I’m expecting my first and the one you mentioned is on my registry with them because idk what baby will prefer. Would love any feedback you have.
    2. Yes to asking friends and family about strollers or having anything you can borrow really! I had originally picked out a $600 jogging stroller because I live in the country and need a bicycle tire stroller. Well my sister had one and just gave it to me! It isn’t the same one, but it will do the job perfectly and I saved a lot of money in the process! Also found out that it was gifted to her by my cousin who used it for her two children, so I love it more because of the history.

      I’ve never liked them- I’ve nursed 9 kids but some people like them! To me the biggest help to get a good latch is to make sure they can breathe- I’ve had many a nurse at the hospital tell me that I don’t need to hold my breast away from the baby’s nose but it seems to help a newborn get a better latch.

    Have you dealt with tongue ties / oral tension issues with any of your sweet babies? We are navigating that whole sphere after finally getting to the root of my 10 months old long list of struggles with a tongue tie diagnosis. But it’s been so crazy and eye opening to learn of the cascade of knock on effects on the body from that tension she’s held for 9 months in the mouth …

    • @brandywine4000
      @brandywine4000 Год назад

      Hi Amy, I’m curious, are doctors still snipping the tie to release the tension on the tongue? (This was done to a family member several years ago and I didn’t know if the treatment plan had changed. Feeding was hard but resolved and there was no problem with speech later on.) Best wishes.

    • @amygreen3081
      @amygreen3081 Год назад

      @@brandywine4000 Depends what part of the world you’re in. Here in the U.K. unfortunately it is not taken very seriously and many (myself included) have to find our own info and go to private practitioners to get treatment as our national health service is in shambles in the some areas. But yes, good oral specialists who know what they’re doing definitely would be encouraging snipping it if it’s affecting tongue function. But the snip is only a very small part of the treatment, the baby has to learn to create new muscle memory and so lots of oral exercises etc. You’d be surprised how many of us carry symptoms of oral tension in our adult lives (eg. mouth breathing, snoring, chronic neck pain, jaw issues). My baby is having to learn to be able to sleep with her mouth shut and tongue suctioned up, it will be a long process for her, but worth it as most of family on her dads side have sleep apnea at a young age because of it.
