I have seen those fake coins in a shop on the main drag. The site where they built the restaurant in Goonies is just up the road in Ecola State Park.

If it wasn't gold or silver it would have rotted away if it was in the salt water for 30 years from any filming of Goonies in 1984. Probably someone planting stuff for their kid to find or intentionally trolling a friend or detectorists.
They sell them in a nearby town there it's novelty
The magnetic thing may have been from a beach bag you could carry your towels etc in.

Can you metal detect on all andy beaches without a permit from the grass line to the sea in oregon?
You have to make sure they are not private first
I hunted Cannon Beach a few weeks ago and didn't find a whole lot. I spent the majority of my time in the wet, which, in hindsight, was a mistake (maybe?). I'm curious to watch your video and see what you find.
It's a tough hunt there. I think it gets hit a lot.
@SodBustersMetalDetecting I think so. I also think most people avoid the cold water and stay in the dry sand which means not many rings are left behind. I did find a nice cross and some change.
