  • This Cub was my first RC Airplane. It has been a joy to fly and learn with this plane.

I love mine. It is a RTF. I learned to fly with it. It does loops, rolls and inverted flight well. Only a few crashes - trees. Had to replace servos and prop once after getting stuck in a tree. I love the Safe Mode. I can switch to it in-flight when things go bad and save a crash. I fly at athletic fields early in the morning. Watch for nets! 6 mph max wind. It is easy to fix with hot glue and clear packaging tape.

Learned too fly with the Carbon Cub aswell.
The better you get to control the plane the more fun it will be. It realy grows with your skill level.

I've never flown RC planes before. But I've been doing research on them the last few months. I think I'm gonna end up buying the Carbon Cub S2 & your videos helped me to decide on that one. Thanks, enjoying your videos 🇺🇸🛩️

The optional GPS seems like a good part for an absolute beginner (like me). The GPS features seem as if they would lessen repairs and repair costs. That parts warranty seems like another good buy for a novice too. Nice video and info. Tnx, Rich.
If anyone has any experience with the GPS as well as filing warrant claims, with the optional insurance, I would appreciate a reply here. Thanks.

Ahh the GPS, Landing Assist and the Flaps are optional add ons to make this plane a real dream to fly. Well not so fast! Try and find a RUclips video where these features are clearly demonstrated and how to setup....it is IMPOSSIBLE! Horizon Hobbies and Hobbyzone should be ashamed of their ineptness at showcases these feature in action. Many of us coming from drones (or even helicopters) with very user friendly GPS (Return to Home) functions, will not find it easy to enter the RC plane arena. So frustrating indeed!

Absolutely useless GPS function is a joke. Learn to fly and monitor the battery for best results

Mine will be here tomorrow... and the battery on Friday (figures). So I'll get it assembled tomorrow and stare at it for a day. Or make vroom vroom noises with it like you did. My first plane too. I figure if I can fly it a couple of times without destroying it, I'll spring for an NX8 and then see what'll be my second plane. I already have a bunch of RC cars, but I wanted to try something new.

RobG Yes the Vroom warm ups are Key ! haha. With your background in RC I bet you will be able to learn the controls quick. One thing I love about planes, they can be simple to fly or as challenging as you want to make it.

Is the NX8 worth the money? I'm a long time droner and was wondering how the NX8 will do with the Cub I got ordered?

The NX8 was a Huge Learning curve for me! Frustrating at times, however I do think its worth it in the long run.

I have it along with the NX8 and haven't flown it yet. Kind of discouraging to see how many times you've crashed it but good to see it is repairable. First flight will be in safe mode and in the spring of 2023.

Thank you for watching! Please don't be discouraged flying this plane. The only reason I crashed that manny times is because I was trying to show off. HaHa, Safe Mode, no wind in a wide open field. This should set you up for a good Maiden flight.

@@thomasbenedict Thanks...that makes me feel a bit better. I added the flaps so the initial flight will also be to see if I have the correct mix of flaps and elevators. I might get the water skis as well as this looks like a good way to use the plane...cheers

I like mine. This plane has very little down elevator in safe, or as3x mode for that matter. I gave mine a large mechanical adjustment so that it almost needs up elevator to stay level. Also run my cg more nose heavy. That would be my only complaint about this plane. Mine is a rtf so it has 3 flight modes. I suppose I could adjust more down elevator in forward programming? Maybe I'm not really sure. Does anyone have a suggestion on this? It's difficult to land sometimes because you simply can't get it down.

I definitely had to spend some time getting the mechanical trim just right!

The S2 has the weakest tailwheel gear. One less than perfect landing and the cheap thin spring bends. It wrecks the bottom Of the rudder and makes it weak. I've had to reinforce the bottom of the rudder with carbon rods to stiffen it and keep the wheel from tipping side to side
    Not impressed
