    I got this plane when it first came out. First time I ever flew. Within two flights was doing all sorts of loops and rolls and completely off safe. Now I have four planes (this, umx a-10, carbon z cessna 150, and the twin otter) and a dx9. You can say I have really enjoyed flying lately. Currently charging up batteries to hopefully be able to fly tomorrow morning if the weather cooperates. I absolutely recommend this plane to anyone who is thinking about starting out. The wheels are great for landing in grass because not everyone has a nice paved runway to take off and land on. The SAFE is great for being able to progress and do some more aggressive flying, but still have that safety net if you lose orientation or something for a second. Also a great flight time. While flying conservatively I was able to get almost 26 minutes out of the included battery. Absolutely amazing plane. Great size, not too big that you absolutely have to take it apart to transport (people with smaller vehicles may have to take the wings off) but not too small that it has to be dead calm (however I do recommend flying on as calm of a day as possible for at least your first few flights)

I am on disability and have a lot of time so im getting into offroad 1/8th scale hpi savage flux my friend is selling me for way low price and you have both inspired me to fly. Never thought i would. Im getting this plane as my first one and am excited about it. You guys are awesome and i love your channel. Ty for your videos. I've noticed with the eachine micro warbirds that has the same 3 step assist they always wanted to climb and was hard to nose down in beginner. Found if I put it in advanced and set the trim so it flew level the trim would stay When switched back to beginner mode. Now they fly level in beginner mode and is easier to nose down while in beginner mode.

  • @FarrellMcGovern
    @FarrellMcGovern 4 года назад +4

    A few observations...first of all, the cowling covering the landing gear struts were on upside down. The wide part is supposed to be against the fuselage, not the narrow part. That is probably why they popped off during Abby's landing. Next, it is interesting that the wings have vortex generators on them. Those little nibs at the top of the curvature of the wings are vortex generators that are designed to help keep the flow of the air over the wing from separating and thus stalling. Very nice for low and slow flying on a full-sized plane, but I don't know how much good they would do on a scale plane.
    Abby's flying was great today. It's definitely a challenge to figure out how a new plane flies, and how it's technology works with your flying style. That was an awesome save on the other side of the runway! Nice flight!

    • @SiR2Dean
      @SiR2Dean 4 года назад +1

      Vortex generators make zero difference on model imo. Makes it look more scale but yeah, that's all..

    I purchased this Carbon Cub, and for the most part feel it was a good value. I will say however, that the plane is very light and is a handful in stiff winds in any mode. Also it does not land well in a stiff wind as it is difficult to get it to descend without applying allot of "nose down".

    • @SiR2Dean
      @SiR2Dean 4 года назад +1

      If you notice in the book it mentions low throttle allows the plane to drop, mid throttle will keep her level but full throttle while in a SAFE mode will actually add elevator to assist in climbing, it’s the same with all SAFE equipped planes so far as I’m aware

    I'm new to the sport/hobby and just got one of these! I chose it because the larger tires are very forgiving in various terrains. I've put 5 flights on mine and love it!! ***2 words; "ground looping"... I learned (the hard way) about ground looping, and how to deal with it. It's very light, so the wind can toss it around a bit, but with SAFE/Intermediate mode, no problem. Later I'll take the "training wheels" (SAFE mode) off 😃

    I just got one of these a couple weeks ago. Swapped to a Master Airscrew 3-blade 11x8 I had lying around, upgraded the 30amp ESC for a 40amp, added an extra ounce of weight on the bottom of the cowling, and fly it on 4S 2200mAh. It's a sporty little plane! The only downside to the 3 blade prop is the spinner doesn't fit. I have another 9x6E I COULD put on it, but the difference in thrust between the two different props is huge. I get 12min flights with about 30% battery left according to my cell meter.

  • @Harossi79
    @Harossi79 3 года назад +5

    As good as SAFE is at a low altitude, it can turn ugly at a higher altitude where the wind picks up. I was flying my SportCub S2 as a beginner and couldn't bring it back. The wind was moving it further and higher, until I lost control. I was lucky to find it on a field 1 mile away. If I knew more about it back then I would have switched it into Advanced mode and made the nose dive a lot more, accelerating at the same time. If the wind picks up while you are above 100 ft, SAFE will not help you at all.

Im not getting any down authority when I throw the elevator ? Off the sticks the aircraft flies straight & tracks well. Yes I find this airplane being super hard to land in safe because there is barely any down elevator. Generally it will stall before hitting the ground unless you turn off safe to land faster. Also it is very bouncy and the landing gear is flimsy but overall it is the most durable and easy to fly plane apart from a umx cub

I’m now wondering if this was caused partly because I was using Safe while landing. I’m not familiar with the characteristics of the airframe or the technology. Fortunately the ugly landing cause zero damage, the weather has prevented a 2nd flight, but I’m keen to fly the newest addition to my fleet again.

    Now we're talking! 😁 I've heard nothing but good reviews on this plane.
    I personally chose the Valiant for my 1st plane but due to weather I have yet to even assemble it 😒
    I have however downloaded the RC SAYLORS version of the Valiant and been practicing almost every day on my RF9 flight simulator. Hopefully it Flys as well in real life as it does on the sim!🙏
    Question: will I have telemetry on my Valiant with the DX8E Transmitter?? If not how could I get it?
    Btw...when can I expect my patreon stickers? Looking forward to those!

    I thought you ment she had a new baby bump. I finally realized I am way down on my smaller back yard fliers. All but two ended up dead. I an in the market for UMX and other back yard fliers. All I have is the UMX Timber and the UMX Radian. Thats it. No pushers, no Biplanes, nothing. The really sad part is, everyone stopped selling them. Now what do I do?

    Abby's in the air, hip hip Hooray. You need to fly more often on and off air. Gotta get the confidence level up with the plane, which you Maidened( sp) awesomely. By the way Nate, good save on the intro bump comment. We want to see flying, not a wife pummeling her husband. 😆😆😆. Fun seeing you fly Abby. ⚓⚓👍🧡👍🏵⚓⚓.

    They will lull you into coming in to slow with that floating capacity.
    But if the critical wind speed is dropped below stall they will fall off in a reverse right snap roll and fall as a brick.
    Practice stall at altitude to experience reaction time and recovery techniques.
    Thank goodness for repairing parts availability and overall rugged endurance of build.
    With parts and glue it’s amazing how well it flies in post accident conditions with proper repair.
    A trainer’s job is to get you past the jitters and mistakes with out ridiculous costs of repairs.

      @@terencemcbride12 I believe it is the button of the left of the transmitter behind the safe mode switch, but I generally flip back into beginner as panic saving. It is not actually that hard to fly no gyro you just need to learn how to proportionally control the sticks

      @rctrucks2094 2 года назад

      If you tend to nose dive crash a lot then the aeroscout is better but overall I like this on better but if you crash a lot you will go through too many props. The aeroscout has a rear prop so it is more resilient

If I knew where I could fly it without paying monthly fees I'd buy one today...well, in the future after the backlog jam has been broken up. My first ride in a real plane was a Cub out of Wings Field in Blue Bell, PA...about 7 years after they were last produced.

    I'm nervous! I just bought this plane and extra batteries and props. I joined AMA and a local flying club. I know many people are unfortunate to not have a close flying field but I got lucky on that one because it's 20 minutes away. I'm practicing on realflight simulator. I have 12 hours in the sim so far and one thing that it taught me was that I would have had a very unsuccessful flight without getting an idea of what to expect. Great video and I hope I don't crash on my first flight 😰

    So I'm not sure quite how it tells but apparently at 50ft and lower the Intermediate Mode just switches over to become Beginner Mode, I guess because otherwise it wouldn't have time to correct mistakes? I think it'll be really confusing with Intermediate, hard to tell how things will respond, probably should just switch between Beginner and Advanced?
    I just got this guy but had to send it back to be worked on because the electronics were messed up out of the box. Horizon sent me a controller so I can still use the simulator while the whole package is in the shop though which was really cool of them. So while it's a bummer and isn't resolved yet, so far they're giving some of the best support I've had with anything. So I'll be another new pilot trying to learn with this plane soon I hope.
