I'm firmly convinced that this pusher style is the best configuration for a beginner. I'm self-taught, and I've flown them for so many years, but I can't remember ever breaking a propeller. These two look like good examples of the type.
Nate is spot-on in this video. I have both. I started out with the regular aeroscout and I bought the mini one for my son. Don't be afraid of its size as the regular aeroscout is probably easier to fly than the small one is. you want to get into the hobby get you one of these. Oh yeah. They're tough as hell too. And easily repairable. I've crashed my better part of 15 to 20 times now. Full speed hard crashes. Yes it broke a few times, but it's easily repairable. And it doesn't have to be completely fused back together perfect for it to fly again. It's really remarkable

I totally agree with you. The Aeroscout is the best beginner friendly airplane. I like to fly in safe mode while taking the controler of my drone and chasing the plane.
Not looking for a beginner plane myself but its very nice to see these guys advocating for the hobby and providing info and direction to new comers that might not have any local support groups.
I'm flying R/C airplanes for 50 years, I flew since small sailplanes all way to 1/3 scale planes with massive Quadra engines. I never had an model airplane so docile, easy and practical to fly like the AeroScout 1.1 meter ! This is by far the EASIEST model airplane on Earth ! Either with no wind or strong gusty winds, I still can take of and landing with my hands tied ! I recommend the AeroScout to all my friends and young people interested in starting flying R/C planes. Mine has nearly 300 flights and counting !
It really is one of the most robust and well rounded, forgiving airplanes on the market. It’s pretty budget friendly too, and easy enough to upgrade your batteries and charger as skill and budget allows for it! Thanks for tuning in my friend, and Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓️
I got the mini and i love it, i manage to do some acrobatics with it ( some how ) and ive not had any issues that couldn’t be solved. I did let my brother fly it once, i told him just to not pull down much and the first thing he did was fly it inverted and crashed. He broke the back but i glued it and bam good as new still pulls hard and is stable as steel.
I got the Aero Scout RTF 2 weeks ago, and my only regret is that i don't have enough calm days to fly it every day! I love it! AC3X and SAFE give you confidence you won't get any other way except years of experience!
Thank you so much for this video. I tried this hobby about 10 yrs ago and did nothing but crash and became VERY discouraged and went no further. I'm going to try again thanks to you guys. Keep making these great videos!!
We love RC Saylors we really do. My wife flies the big aeroscout and loves it! We bought two of the minis and leta just say the big one is a lot easier to fly. Mini Aero has very limited throw rates -(we moved to the second hole in on both and it work a lil better) be carful of the trim adj on the trans. It Glides great! So if you want to have an enjoyable experience = high rate power to elevation cut power and glide home. Trying to fly tbis plane fast like a 3d won't work folks
I just purchased the Aeroscout S 2 1.m....My first attempt to fly it will be next Saturday. It went together easy; however, the wing square carbon spar was about 0.75" too long. I carefully measured the gap where the wings were supposed to touch. Then I cut the spar to length so the spar hit the plastic stops inside each wing. Also the screw driver provided was to small. You need it to loosen then tighten the screw for the front wheel. If you have more screw drivers, try to find one of the correct size in order to avoid stripping out the head of the screw. Wish me luck....I'm going in!
Thank you. Just upgraded my 8 year old to the big one. He was doing so good on a smaller one that his papa got him I figured let's do it. Great video sir! Now we just need the wind to calm down and it to warm up a bit here in Alaska.
Abby, you do not need a plane that can fly its self girl, you got this. I have seen you fly much more advanced planes. I agree as far as buying a good hobby grade plane. You know my favorites Nate, you got me into this mess, I blame you and Abby for my hobby room full of RC stuff. lol.
My first and currently only plane is the aeroscout 1.1m, absolutely love it. Proved durable as well, as it spent a good three months in a tree through this summer only to finally be blown down by two bad storms... flew it the next week after it had time to dry out, the next pack after that a servo went out. Other than that the plane is perfectly fine 👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love the aeroscout and have two. They are so good for learning to do tricks like you were showing that you build confidence that you can fly. The best part is the three modes for flight and the ability to grow and learn. It gives you the confidence to get into other planes but you keep flying the aeroscout because it is fun. Your early videos on this plane is what got me into the hobby. Many crashes of other planes later I am still flying my aeroscouts.
Hi guys...just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I enjoy your information on beginner R/C airplanes. I'm headed to Medford, OR. in the morning to get the RTF version of the 1.1...very excited! thanks again...you guys are the best. Stay safe and be well.
I bound the radio that comes in the big RTF Aeroscout box to the E-Flite UMX MiG-15 EDF. All the control surfaces worked. I've since bought a DX-6e and now the Aeroscout has a dedicated transmitter because I don't need it for anything else. :)
For your Newbies: especially with the Little Aero Scout, if you do your training maneuvers on the upwind side (even though Nate has told you that you'll have a lot easier time, if you do your flying on a day when a sailor {Saylor?} would claim that Dead Flat Calms are no fun a-tall) you will find that Ma Nature doesn't {often} have you walking Tremendous Distances, looking for a Stray Airchine.
I think a lot of people would be happy with the E-Flite UMX Turbo Timber. As inexpensive as full-bore hobby-grade planes go, easy to transport, super easy to fly, an with flaps, super easy to land an SAFE to go along with it! I still have mine that I fly almost as much as my Night Timber X an Carbon Cubs! I think those that are just learning should go with a good, reputable high-wing foamie like the E-Flite UMX series' of planes.
I agree, the UMX Turbo Timber is definitely my favorite park flyer, but it's not as durable as the Aeroscout because the prop is in the front, and it doesn't come in a ready to fly configuration. That said, I think the Turbo Timber is a perfect second plane because it can fly super slow with flaps, but is also capable of some crazy tricks.
I have a full-size AeroScout, and it is amazing! It has lots of power, is very stable, and can survive crashes that would cripple other planes. One day, I smashed my wingtip into a tree on a landing approach, knocking off some foam, and it still flies like new! (This would've destroyed balsa wood or cheap foam wings). I've also flipped over multiple times without any engine damage.
Hi Nate, I've been a DJI Mavic Air 2 owner since it came out, I decided to join my local RC club and thanks to your videos, I just purchased the AeroScout S RTF. As soon as I get my skills up on flying my AeroScout, I'll be looking forward to moving up with time. Thank you guys for your excellent videos. HFTA!
I have started flying for the first time with an eachine P51d (thanks RC Saylors!) and a Radiomaster tx16s. I love both!! :) I have also just ordered a Voltanex Sports cub 500 4 channel! (thanks again RC Saylors)
Really do love you guys. I can be having a crappy day and wen me and my wife get snuggled into bed we can turn your guys vids and it can turn the crappiest day into a grinning heart warming feeling and turn it into a way better day. So thank you guys ❤️
I live in Canada, so, the American prices will be more here in Canada. I have a Bixlr 3, it's kind of an okay plane... But hard to fix... Every time I crash, I always have a hard time trying to fix it and it never works. I've watched some videos for the aeroscout, and it looks like a very good beginner friendly plane!! I might save up for that at some point! I miss flying RC planes, and I want to get back into the hobby!! Plus, the aeroscout has that amazing technology where if you're panicking, you can just let go of the controls and it will go back to straight and level all by itself! That's awesome!!
Personally, I think that the DXE6 is one of the best radios you can buy, even though it is on the pricey end. It is such an amazing radio, and it works really well with any of the E flight or Horizon hobby airplanes.
Dude best budget radio out there is the Flysky FS-i6. I just bought a new one that is the i6x model. Receiver are cheap as all get out. Been using them for the last 5 years. I also have an older DX6i but it is so much more complicated I don't currently use it.
Best budget radio. The Detrum Gavin 8C. I love that radio. I paid $60 for it used with 4 receivers including one with a gyro. You can actually program the gyro directly from the transmitter!! The 6 channel gyro enabled receiver is only $30 with NO DIP SWITCHES! I love it. Surprise nobody uses it. In going to get the detrum BLITZ, 9 channel radio with all the bells and whistles including voice notifications. It's like $180. The 8C is only $89.
Hello, Good advice and clear explanations. I taught my 7 and 8-year-old sons to fly it. However, with the trainer stand between my own Spektrum and their remote control. Compliments for your RUclips videos, great fun and educational!
I bought the Aeroscout S2 1.1m and a NX-6 Tx and realflight 9.5 sim ,plan on flying in sim for a week or 2 then get my plane out to an airfield ,thanks for this and all of your videos, already have my AMA and my TRUST Cert.
This vid helped me get into the hobby. Thanks for the suggestion! Got the RTF aeroscout and am absolutely loving it. So much fun to take out on a nice warm day!
The full sized Aeroscout is a can't-miss starter plane. It's not the only choice for a first-time pilot, but it's certainly one of the best. This is my current recommendation for people who are talking about trying RC airplanes.
Tactic 6ch I have had for years, is my 3rd system i use for what i call expendable airplanes and heli's. It is dependable enough where as i would use it in replacement of my Spektrum and Futaba radios if they broke... On just about any size scale as long as only using 6Ch...
Great Video. Aeroscout 1.1m BNF - Looks like it is going to a version 2 ( Smart ESC/Receiver?) Can you do a video on how to use the Spektrum DXe for multiple planes, can't find much on that? I know all programming is done through computer or smart phone with specific cables needed for each. How easy is it to switch between planes at the flying field once programmed in? Probably need to hook up to laptop or smart phone to switch planes, do you need to rebind each time also? I video addressing all this would be great.
I have the mini and it's great my birthday is coming up and I'm going to ask for the bigger one and I've been flying for 1 week and it's super fun if you are not in to the hobby you should get in to it it's supper fun
Love you both , thanks for all the tips. I'm getting the big one for my patient Carolyn who has flown My mini magic drone . She is going to love this awesome new technology that brings so much joy to Someone jammed up like so many others. ✌🏼🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Hi Saylors, well my 1st flight radio was the spectrum DX6 $169.99 with my carbon cub then I got a Habiu that came with the DX3, my fastest Jet is the E flight Viper if you're on a low budget take Nate's advice and just get into rc flight w/o breaking the bank...
Thank you for this review. I think i will be going with the Aeroscout RTf as my first plane. My long term goal is to go fpv long range glider but i must first learn to fly. Thanks again for this review.
I have watched you guys for a while now. I just love the passion and enthusiasm that y'all have. I have been in rc for over 35 years. I have a pretty decent collection. I'm more of a 1/5th scale gasser but I have a few planes and some 1/10th scale electric and nitro. Keep up the great work
You make it look easy on advanced. I'm hoping to learn on my second Carbon Cub because it looked better to me. This one does look really fun to fly. Thanks for you and Abbys enthusiasm and advice.
That is just time flying that makes it look easy. I promise, with enough flights you can do everything I did in this video 😁 Thanks for the kind words! We are rooting for you! 👍😀⚓😎
I'm learning using the HZ Sport Cub S 2 and feel that in spite of the extra $40.00 to get RTF over the Mini it is worth considering as a trainer. 4 channel, SAFE + intermediate + experienced modes, low & high rates. A lot of plane in my opinion for just $40.00 bucks more. Though the Mini, I'm pretty certain, is a much tougher plane due to the different foam (?) and being a pusher prop design.
I really like the Specktrum DXs that came with my Habo STS, even though I have a DX8G2. The receiver power guage is great. I don't need a timer, just look down and understand battery sag.
Bought the new t28 1.1... First big plane! Done some safe flying on the eachine mini t28, and lots of computer trainer hours without safe etc. Can’t wait!
you were right, they are on backorder but based on your recommendation went ahead and ordered one. hopefully its as good as you say! been watching you for years, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the long time support David! It will be well worth the wait, promise. Id love to know your thoughts after a couple of flights! We will be patiently waiting to hear the results 👍😀⚓😎
The first controller I had and it was an inexpensive one as well was the Spectrum DXe, great controller just no model memory, I upgraded to the Spectrum DX6e that has model memory and more channels and is still fairly inexpensive. I fly a Timber UMX and an Air Tractor, I love them both, I have let other people that havent flown planes before fly the Timber UMX and they are amazed at how easy it flies.
Nice flying. That snap roll looked like a barrel roll. Barrel roll uses ailerons. Snap roll is when you pull full up elevator and full left or right rudder, no ailerons. That’s why it’s called “snap roll”, you are snapping the tail around vs. barrel roll that is rolling the plane with ailerons. If you want to enter an inverted flat spin, combine a snap roll with a barrel roll at the same time in the opposite directions of each other. That really gets interesting. Make sure you have altitude when your learning that move.
Plane has two basic weaknesses....lack of adjustability of the control surfaces especially the elevator....and the weakness of the nosewheel assembly. I have broken it off three times and in spite of my best efforts to reattach using bracing, it continues to snap off on any kind of difficult landing. I have pretty much given up on this plane
So for a beginner such as myself...I have an aeroscout..would be helpful if ya could show some videos showing what to do if plane is flying right or left instead of straight...also what to do when it is flying up or down instead of level...thx cliff..
Is there a dog-fighting accessory for this? I remember flying an Aerobird years ago, and there was an accessory module that let you dog-fight by killing power to the other aircraft for 3 seconds after a successful shot. So fun!
You make this look so simple. Love your enthusiasm and content. I aspire to an A10 but think a Carbon Cub S2 / Aeroscout may be a more sensible 1st time option? 10 out of 10 Guys 👍
The Aeroscout would be a better option because the prop and motor are better protected in a crash. When I was learning to fly, back in 2008, I broke many a prop and had to fix the motor mount a couple of times.
I would love to see you guys make a video on the e flite carbon cub ss 2.1. I just got one as a beginner and it's a very easy plane to fly even without safe turned on
Do you know how far those will transmit? I am new to the hobby. I recently purchased an Apprentice S, and a Night Vapor. My 90 year old grampa has a Habu STS, so I got the prop planes to practice crashing before I fly that. I am just a little nervous to fly a plane too far away, in fear of losing it. The Apprentice came with a DXS, and the Night Vapor has the cheap transmitter that comes with it.
@@SightsNjunk It can transmit pretty far. Farther than I have ever flown. It basically has the range of like a dx6e or something but for half the cost.
Awesome video as always. My first plane was the eachine p51 but have brought a version of the aeroscout. As you guys have said love your channel because you help beginners and give honest reviews. I think for a budget radio you cannot beat the radiomaster tx16 or the jumper t18 they will bind to pretty much any receiver and has more channels than you will ever need plus a nice screen. I know you guys have the tundra I'm surprised you haven't had the micro tundra that recently came out. Keep up the great work
Yeah, HobbyKing is sadly one of those companies that we morally do not agree with currently. They have been caught stealing people's footage on their channels, and saying they are paying those people for said footage, but are in fact not doing that. We aren't okay with that at all, among some other morally questionable decisions.
Its a shame they are going down that path as they have some good products. They are only going to shoot themselves in the foot in the long term because real good channels like yours will not showcase them.
Wow hats off to you guys for doing that. I thought it was strange how nothing from hobbyking had been on your channel for a while. Shocking that they are doing that though. That's why I love your channel honest and transparent 😀
I ordered the small one. The future of RC might be sub 250 gram. I have a lot of planes that size-- easy to store and transport and no FAA registration required. I've got several small 2 cell batteries with JST connectors, so I will definitely see how this thing does with a two cell.
Just don't full throttle too long at a time. Wouldn't want you to burn it up on the first flight. Add some nose weight and you should really enjoy this plane 👍😀⚓😎
Kinda crazy how big your channel got I'm starting to get back after two years or so i left right as amlia was being born like right after missed ya guys stays safe pce
I've yet to hear someone say somethjng bad about the Aeroscout 1.1. Bought one almost a year ago and have yet to fly it. 🤦🏻♂️ Still believe I made a great choice. Definitely going to fly it real soon.
very nice video guys. As always xx. And doing the comparison is awesome. I think I have to go for the bigger one to be fair. Have watched that guy fly a few times. And me a beginner will almost zero stick time. I do live in the Uk so should be ok. Cos Horizon has Uk based website also. Great job guys, please keep it up xxx
Im very thankful for you two, I recently got an aeroscout after seeing all the good info of yours on it. Now I have a umx turbo timber otw, I am hooked lol. Also I got a used gen 1 dx8 otw also, its outdated but I hear its a good radio still, a little mod mem and Ill be able to play with expo finally lol I have 1 succesful flight completely out of safe lol I love it, thanks for all the work you guys put into this it is much apreciated

I bound the radio that comes in the big RTF Aeroscout box to the E-Flite UMX MiG-15 EDF. All the control surfaces worked. I've since bought a DX-6e and now the Aeroscout has a dedicated transmitter because I don't need it for anything else. :)
That worked out perfectly! Very nice 👍😀⚓😎
LOVE my Aeroscout. Was perfect for getting my son into the hobby. Well worth the money. Thanks for helping others to get into the joy of rc flight!!
You should review the radiomaster tx16s
I took mine out today! Perfect for fpv platform for sunset viewing and picture taking!!
For your Newbies: especially with the Little Aero Scout, if you do your training maneuvers on the upwind side (even though Nate has told you that you'll have a lot easier time, if you do your flying on a day when a sailor {Saylor?} would claim that Dead Flat Calms are no fun a-tall) you
will find that Ma Nature doesn't {often} have you walking Tremendous Distances, looking for
a Stray Airchine.
Absolutely spot on! I agree. I can't think of a better aircraft for beginners...and it will progress with you!
Yep, my first plane too. Now bought the E-Flite Cherokee, also perfect plane.
My favorite cheap budget radio is either the dx6i or the fly sky i6
Hi Nate, I've been a DJI Mavic Air 2 owner since it came out, I decided to join my local RC club and thanks to your videos, I just purchased the AeroScout S RTF.
That is awesome Leo!! Happy Flying 👍😀⚓😎
I've got the big one and love it. So easy to fly and very predictable. I want to eventually convert it to an FPV flier.
I've got a couple of those budget FlySky radios and they a solid job! Good recommendation Jack 👍😀⚓😎
Mine is the Flysky FS-I6X, amazing radio for the price!
The FS-i6 non x with the modded firmware is much nicer.
I bought the Aeroscout S2 1.1m and a NX-6 Tx and realflight 9.5 sim ,plan on flying in sim for a week or 2 then get my plane out to an airfield ,thanks for this and all of your videos, already have my AMA and my TRUST Cert.
This plane is good for FPV. You can easily add the DJI controller and camera to the nose cone.
awesome, i practice these rc plane on steam real flight, same plane. it is so much fun, thinking to buy one next years!
I like the full size version for the tricycle landing gear. Tail draggers are harder to land
Hands down best of the best cheap radio is the fly sky i6x!!!
They link to any RC plane?
Tactic 6ch I have had for years, is my 3rd system i use for what i call expendable airplanes and heli's. It is dependable enough where as i would use it in replacement of my Spektrum and Futaba radios if they broke... On just about any size scale as long as only using 6Ch...
Best budget transmitters: Turnigy 9XR Pro or FrSky Taranis X9 Lite running the OpenTX firmware.
My first plane wus a duet,. I flew the it about 5 months then I got a mini aporentise 3 months flying it. It's going good
Great Video. Aeroscout 1.1m BNF - Looks like it is going to a version 2 ( Smart ESC/Receiver?)
Can you do a video on how to use the Spektrum DXe for multiple planes, can't find much on that? I know all programming is done through computer or smart phone with specific cables needed for each. How easy is it to switch between planes at the flying field once programmed in? Probably need to hook up to laptop or smart phone to switch planes, do you need to rebind each time also? I video addressing all this would be great.
I bet that the mini aeroscout can take off from the main wing of the 1.1m aeroscout
I have the mini and it's great my birthday is coming up and I'm going to ask for the bigger one and I've been flying for 1 week and it's super fun if you are not in to the hobby you should get in to it it's supper fun
Love you both , thanks for all the tips. I'm getting the big one for my patient Carolyn who has flown
My mini magic drone . She is going to love this awesome new technology that brings so much joy to
Someone jammed up like so many others. ✌🏼🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Great job in that video. I believe any plane with a gyro that is RTF and less than 120$ is good for a beginner.
Thanks! Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓
17:46 You guys are great!!
Truly enjoy watching your videos.
I’m a beginner looking for my first RC plane
Hi Saylors, well my 1st flight radio was the spectrum DX6 $169.99 with my carbon cub then I got a Habiu that came with the DX3, my fastest Jet is the E flight Viper if you're on a low budget take Nate's advice and just get into rc flight w/o breaking the bank...
Can u make a vid on the controls?
Thank you for this review. I think i will be going with the Aeroscout RTf as my first plane. My long term goal is to go fpv long range glider but i must first learn to fly. Thanks again for this review.
I just got the aeroscout mini RTF can confirm ITS AMAZING
Have you guys ever tried one of Flite Test DIY planes? They are amazing kits
You two are absolutely awesome. Thank you both ✈️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! That really means a lot 👍😁😎⚓️
I really love my Aeroscout. She flies like a beauty. Excellent video Nate & Abby!!
Yeah!! Really glad you like yours Alan! Hope you get out to fly soon! 👍😀⚓😎
@@TheRcSaylors Thank you. Yea planning to fly it Monday as long it isnt too windy 😊😎⚓⚓
And thank you for making truthful content!😊
I know this is a late post, but mine was delivered today. Looking forward to learning to fly!
Nate, I second the motion for HH to come out with a UMX version of the Mini.
Will you show the remote so that we can see what your are pushing to make it take off?
My first plane was the carbon cub!
My first plane, love it. I think it’s the best trainer. Great video as always!
Awesome Paul! Thank you 👍😀⚓😎
I would love to see you guys make a video on the e flite carbon cub ss 2.1. I just got one as a beginner and it's a very easy plane to fly even without safe turned on
My favorite Cheap transmitter is the flysky fsi6 its About 50 bucks and realy easy to use
My favorite budget transmitter is the dxs by spektrum.
It’s a great radio that definitely gets the job done for a handful of planes! 👍😁😎⚓️
@@jackwashere9174 Thank you!
Nate I just purchase the big aeroscout..and I love it ..big thanks to your video..thanks rc sailors😇
Awesome Roy! Happy Flying 👍😀⚓😎
Already on back order. Good job guys! lol
Lol, happens every time! Wow!
Hey this is an awesome vid thinking that you should do a vid on the night vapor
I enjoyed this video. This is a must have plane. It looks alot of fun. Thanks for the video.👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks John! Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓️
Big aero scout. Great plane.
Agreed! 👍💯😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors oh really wow that is not good. I didnt know that. Keep up the great work 👍
Its a shame they are going down that path as they have some good products.
Still LOVE both Aeroscouts!! GREAT beginner planes!! Thanks Saylors for sharing your experience and knowledge!! Were you videoing on Mars?!😏 💟👍😘
Nice nate but to me its the skyking 959 s .alot cheaper .good job as always .and learning off you guys all the time.
Job done! Well done may I say. Just convinced me to get the Scout S2! Early Xmas gift for myself... 😬
Nice job on the video cool Planes and have a nice day
Can you do a speed test on the wl toys 144001 and another vid on 12428?
I've yet to hear someone say somethjng bad about the Aeroscout 1.1. Bought one almost a year ago and have yet to fly it. 🤦🏻♂️ Still believe I made a great choice. Definitely going to fly it real soon.
Get out there and start flying Josh! I'm getting mine tomorrow. I'll let you know how it went when I get it in the air....peace from S. Oregon
@@donpodlas5546 I will. Good luck.
very nice video guys.
Love watching all your videos guys great job! I just joined the hobby and TheRCSaylors at my go to guys!! Thank you for all the knowledge!
