The Focke Wulf was excellent too though more of a postive full on flight compared to the gliding capabilities of the challenger3 which had such a low stall speed especially facing into the wind.

How long does the battery take to charge? I just got it this morning, and it’s currently 6 and it’s still not charged. Also, does a purple flashing mean it’s charging?
If you have to replace the fuselage and it doesn't come with the motor and propeller, how do you remove it from your old plane and install in the new fuselage?

I have the Aero S2 BNF. I have created the model from the BNF template on an NX 6. Everything seems to work but I noticed that the elevator servo makes an adjustment to the angle of the elevator when I switch from beginner mode to intermediate mode thus causing the plane to climb in flight. When switched to advanced mode the plane seems to fly fine without any trim adjustments. Is it normal for the servo to make this move when changing from safe beginner to safe intermediate? Thank you for a response!
Well Jason after many hours of fun I finally crashed had to order new fuselage switched over the motor and the receiver but I can't get all the servos to work at once. What is the correct sequence of connections on the receiver
Channel/Port 1 = Throttle channel (plug the ESC lead into this channel/port) Channel/Port 2 = Aileron channel (plug the y-harness lead from the aileron servos into this channel/port) Channel/Port 3 = Elevator channel (plug the elevator servo lead into this channel/port) Channel/Port 4 = Rudder channel (plug the rudder servo lead into this channel/port)
Hi, just purchased my bnf aeroscout. I cant seem to get ss3x working in intermediate or advanced mode. Safe works fine, however in the other two modes as3x is not functioning.......
Hi, what is the difference between the S and the S2 versions? I am about to buy an Aeroscout but the local hobbyshop has both in, on their website the cheaper version seems to come with the DXe transmitter whilst the more expensive version comes with a DX .....i am wondering if they have the pricing wrong and if i should go for the DXe transmitter rather than the other one, is there any difference between the planes themselves? Thank you.

You will need to purchase this battery and charger bundle to complete it: www.horizonhobby.com/product/smart-powerstage-air-bundle-2200mah-3s-g2-lipo-battery-s120-charger/SPMXPSA200.html And you can purchase additional batteries separately here: www.horizonhobby.com/product/11.1v-2200mah-3s-30c-smart-g2-lipo-battery-ic3/SPMX223S30.html The "full" RTF version that included a battery and charger is no longer available.
Thank you for your vidéo, it's very clear and nice. I just finish to assembly and bind my plane with a dx6e it's very easy. Next step fly this beautifull plane in France
Great plane, I learned how to fly with this perfect plane for beginners. I still fly it, even though I had some hard landings, but I could repaired it very easily. I also recommend it to any one wanting to learn how to fly RC planes.
Fantastic presentation and teaching. You sir should be a model for other You Tube aspiring teachers/presenters. This coming from a teacher. I could base my whole comment on your meticulous and articulate presentation. Great job. Anyway I’ve been so excited to get into this hobby and I’ve got the bug bad after picking up a couple of micro helis. I have a Sport Cub S but it’s always windy up in northern Canada where I am and I think it stands to reason that a larger plane would be way better in the wind and probably actually easier to learn on. I was going to get the carbon cub S or the apprentice but the assembly itself turned me off. I want to learn how to fly these things not spend an hour or more trying to put them together. This seems like my kind of beginner friendly RC aircraft. Solid and well-built, not needing rubber bands all over the place. Anyway you just might have helped me make a decision. Tell me can you fly this in parks etc? Thank you very much. Cheers.
Thank you very much for your feedback and support Steve! And yes, this model is sized so it can be flown in large parks...in an area as small as a single soccer field for more experienced pilots, or in an area the size of ~2+ soccer fields for less experienced pilots. The more space and less obstructions the better when learning to fly of course! The AeroScout does handle better in wind than the Sport Cub S and other smaller/lighter class models, but we do recommend flying in as low of winds as possible when learning to fly. And if you haven't already, we strongly recommend picking up the latest version of RealFlight RC Flight Simulator (www.horizonhobby.com/category/airplanes/aircraft-radio-systems/simulators )...it will help you learn to fly, and become a better pilot, in less time and with far less crashes of your actual models! The AeroScout is not currently in RealFlight (yet ;), but the Sport Cub S, Carbon Cub S and the Apprentice are in there, along with Virtual Flight Instructor lessons also taught by Jason. You can see more info in the video here: ruclips.net/video/yhmR0kpcDAs/видео.html
I wanted to learn to fly and this is the one I chose after watching a lot of videos of planes for beginners. The question I have is it as easy to disassemble when I store it because I'm limited on space.
The aileron servos rotate the same direction, but one is mounted "mirrored" to the other (so it drives the corresponding aileron the opposite direction of the other servo no matter which lead on the Y-harness it's plugged into).

Yes! The DXe originally included with the RTF version AeroScout S 1.1m, as well as the DXS that will now be included, can be used with many other 4-5 channel HobbyZone and E-flite BNF Basic aircraft including this T-28 Trojan 1.1m: ruclips.net/video/r0K6S1K4vYc/видео.html
Seems with this design the battery wire is always going to be bumping the servo push rods for the front wheel? Even this video the wire visually appears to be all on up on that push rod even though the guy is saying he has clearance. Seems like its ok to touch but conflicting info here.
I just bought one of these and i noticed that there is a middle wire coming from the battery. I fly a lot of planes and I was wanting to know if i could use my other 3 cell batteries in it if i changed the plug on the plane to fit my other batteries. OR do you have to use a HOBBYZONE battery only. In other words. will the plane still power up/fly if i put a deans or other connector on the plane.
The third wire gives you the benefit of Smart technology when used with Smart chargers and ESCs (safer, easier to use, etc.)! However, that battery will also work with 2-wire "non-Smart" setups too! And other 2-wire batteries will also work with the stock "non-Smart" ESC.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts I see thank you. I plan to just keep it the way it is. I was also unsure if the transmitter that came with my Aeroscout (DXe) if it will bind with the 1.1 meter Trojan. If so it would be worth it for me to grab one of those and a couple of xtra batteries. Im pretty sure that they take the same battery. 2200 3S.
I have downloaded the setup to my dx6 ready to bind but I have one question before I bind it.. Do I need to assign the flightmode switch by toogling the switch still or is it pre set for that 3 pos flightmode switch for safe when bindning to dx6? The manual is unclear on this point. I want all 3 flightmodes setup like the rtr dxe on my dx6... Mvh Pierre
The SAFE flight modes are assigned to channel 5/gear by default. When using a DX6, this means the flight modes will be on the 2-position A switch by default. With the 2-position switch you will have Beginner mode and Experienced mode...you will not have Intermediate mode available (most people do not mind this). If you would like to have Intermediate mode as well, you will need to use the "channel assign" function in the DX6 to change the switch channel 5/gear is assigned to from switch A to switch B. Then you will have all three flights modes on yours DX6!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts I have done that.. Its set to B 3 pos switch where I have my flightmodes but when I bind it now for the first time I insert bindplug then remove it before I bind but do I need to toogle the B switch 5 Times after binding are complete or is safe already active? Thank you so much for helping me 😊

Hello excellent explanation thanks. I have a question if I buy this airplane and later on I buy the f16 or f15 could I use the remote control of this aeroscout s to fly the f15 or f16? And the battery too can I use it with the jets? Or I have to buy another transmitter for jets
You can use the Dxe with is the transmitter that comes with it with any other plane that requires 6 or less channels and yes you can use the same transmitter with the f15 or f16. The battery that comes with it is a 3 cell, for the f15 or f16 it needs a 4 cell, I found my batteryfor the f 15 for around 40 bucks on amazon. 4s 2200 mAh lipo.~ Ryan
Yes, this is correct! You have less aileron control/a lower bank angle limit in the beginner mode so you may need more rudder to make the turns "tighter" than in the intermediate mode (which has more aileron control/a higher bank angle limit). This also makes it easier to taxi in the beginner mode since you have more nose gear steering authority. You should also have more rudder throw in the experienced mode!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts, This makes perfect sense now. Thank you for the perfect answer to my not perfect question. My plane is working properly Thank you so much.
So you and the transmitter are always in control of the receiver and aircraft! Otherwise, if the transmitter is off and the receiver is on, interference or something else can cause unwanted commands of the aircraft including moving the control surfaces and/or running the motor unexpectedly.
This is Jason from the video :) I owned and flew just about every Firebird model, including the Aerobird...the AeroScout is FAR more capable and powerful! It's a vastly superior model in every way, as I demonstrate in this video: ruclips.net/video/eHA49QecFR0/видео.html
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thanks for your input and you are probably correct. I have only flown that one years ago and did some pretty amazing things with it. Pushed it past it's limits and folded the wings at one point too. Happy flying!
We offer two versions...RTF (Ready-To-Fly) and BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic: The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes a Spektrum DXe controller/transmitter equipped with industry-leading DSMX® 2.4GHz control technology, plus a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and charger that make it easier and safer to charge. That means there's nothing extra you need to buy or provide before you can fly! And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! The powerful and efficient brushless power system delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and even inverted (upside down) flight. Plus, the lightweight design and low wing loading deliver a very wide flight envelope and incredible handling that even experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy. The BNF Basic version (HBZ3850) is the perfect choice for those pilots because it allows them to use their favorite Spektrum™ transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own to fly with.
If anyone is putting together this plane and looking at the comments, the Aileron plug requires some good amount of force to get it to snap into place. It will snap and you will feel it. It might seem like it goes in the wrong way, black to yellow, but it's definitely yellow to white. I believe I lost my first Aeroscout due to not connecting these well enough and they became disconnected mid flight. Not knowing what went wrong, I was unable to turn the plane around and it got so far away it lost connection. Hindsight I might have been able to use the rudder to bring it back around. Don't make the same mistakes I did!
This was originally a Phillips screw and has been changed back to Phillips (in the meantime some will come with a hex/allen screw instead due to an unexpected change by the factory).
The Apprentice S 15e and Mini Apprentice are amazing trainers of course, but the AeroScout is a sub $200 , pusher-style alternative that some beginners (and experienced pilots too!) might prefer :)
Greetings friend of HorizonHobby, excellent plane, I am a beginner without much money to get one of these. I resort to your good faith and I ask you if you can give me one even if it is beaten or used...

When switched to advanced mode the plane seems to fly fine without any trim adjustments. Is it normal for the servo to make this move when changing from safe beginner to safe intermediate? Thank you for a response!
Just got mine today. But, it is missing the nose gear set screw. How do I get one so that I can finish build and fly this thing?
Well Jason after many hours of fun I finally crashed had to order new fuselage switched over the motor and the receiver but I can't get all the servos to work at once. What is the correct sequence of connections on the receiver
Channel/Port 1 = Throttle channel (plug the ESC lead into this channel/port)
Channel/Port 2 = Aileron channel (plug the y-harness lead from the aileron servos into this channel/port)
Channel/Port 3 = Elevator channel (plug the elevator servo lead into this channel/port)
Channel/Port 4 = Rudder channel (plug the rudder servo lead into this channel/port)
Hi, just purchased my bnf aeroscout. I cant seem to get ss3x working in intermediate or advanced mode. Safe works fine, however in the other two modes as3x is not functioning.......
Can the transmitter be used with BNF planes? That would be great for those of us who are just getting started in the gabby. Thanks!
Yes! The Spektrum DXe transmitter can be used with many BNF airplanes up to 6 channesl!
does this have FPV
Can you add flaperons on this? If so how. I tried but one aileron goes down, like it should, but the other goes up. Help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
How do I get another battery? Does this kit come with the battery and charger?
As of 2023, due to FAA regulations, this model is now only sold in an RTF "Basic" version that does not include the battery and charger. You will need to purchase this battery and charger bundle to complete it: www.horizonhobby.com/product/smart-powerstage-air-bundle-2200mah-3s-g2-lipo-battery-s120-charger/SPMXPSA200.html
And you can purchase additional batteries separately here: www.horizonhobby.com/product/11.1v-2200mah-3s-30c-smart-g2-lipo-battery-ic3/SPMX223S30.html
The "full" RTF version that included a battery and charger is no longer available.
Yes, very much so. The main wing is held on with three thumb-wheel screws and the horizontal stabs slide right off!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts Thank you for such a quick reply. I will be looking at Horizon products more often.
If the aileron order does not matter, does it actually "learn" which servo is which? Or are the servos mirrored?
The aileron servos rotate the same direction, but one is mounted "mirrored" to the other (so it drives the corresponding aileron the opposite direction of the other servo no matter which lead on the Y-harness it's plugged into).
Can it carry a Actioncamera?
Does it come with a battery or not because the sight says you do but I watched him pull one out of the box

@@HorizonHobbyProducts ok thank you
Hey I was wondering if the transmitter in the ready to fly Aeroscout can be used in other airplanes
My Scout should be here in a couple of days. Already have 2 extra batts...
Seems with this design the battery wire is always going to be bumping the servo push rods for the front wheel? Even this video the wire visually appears to be all on up on that push rod even though the guy is saying he has clearance. Seems like its ok to touch but conflicting info here.
How many channels has the dxe that comes with the aeroscout rtf?
6 channels total!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts thank you!
Thank you so much for helping me 😊
@@MelinsRCTech Search Binding the DX6 to the Arrowscout I'm sure someone has a video showing exactly how to set it up I have the RTF Arrowscout so I just use the transmitter it comes with I'm looking for a good deal on a used DX8 so I can buy the BNF models with flaps retracts etc Ya save a lot of $$$ in the long run I want the new Turbo Timber bad lol I just built a 4ft 6inch wing span foam board trainer I have everything built All I have left to do is install the servos control rods and horns I have have already installed the motor ESC and receiver which is the same one in my Arrowscout so I can use the same transmitter I've got about a $100 in it The FliteTest channel is awesome if you haven't heard of them you are missing out Those guys build some awesome planes and they do all kinds of cool experiments ✌️
Im experiencing problems with this plane. (its my first plane)
When i connect the battery to the plane, all it does is beep a few times and nothing more. It doesnt react to the commands of the transmitter (which was on before connecting the battery). Would be cool if you help
You need to hold the 'A' button on the transmitter when you turn it on to bind it.
Does the "D" toggle switch do anything?
Not when used with the AeroScout!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts thank you
What is the best simulator software to practice for this plane? I crashed and broke mine today on first flight.
I'm using RealFlight 9.5, it's by the same company that makes the actual plane.
Thanks bro🎉
I just got a aeroscout s1 and in beginner mode i have full rudder throw. in intermediate i have half rudder throw. Is this correct ?
Yes, this is correct! You have less aileron control/a lower bank angle limit in the beginner mode so you may need more rudder to make the turns "tighter" than in the intermediate mode (which has more aileron control/a higher bank angle limit). This also makes it easier to taxi in the beginner mode since you have more nose gear steering authority. You should also have more rudder throw in the experienced mode!
@@HorizonHobbyProducts, This makes perfect sense now. Thank you for the perfect answer to my not perfect question. My plane is working properly Thank you so much.
Great model plane
Can someone help me out here. Why is it we always power on tx before the battery goes in and opposite when turning off?
So you and the transmitter are always in control of the receiver and aircraft! Otherwise, if the transmitter is off and the receiver is on, interference or something else can cause unwanted commands of the aircraft including moving the control surfaces and/or running the motor unexpectedly.
The ailerons aren’t moving on mine does anyone know why?
What is the flight time for the battery?
Typically 10-15 minutes, but upwards of 20+ is possible with low power cruising!
quelle est la distance maximale avec cette télécommande
I wish the Aerobird design would come back. This one just seems less capable and less powerful. V tail or T tail works fine and looks nice.
How much does it cost?
199.99
Nice instructional video.
is it the rtf?
We offer two versions...RTF (Ready-To-Fly) and BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic:
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes a Spektrum DXe controller/transmitter equipped with industry-leading DSMX® 2.4GHz control technology, plus a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and charger that make it easier and safer to charge.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts cool
Can u use a dumb battery to fly it
You can! You just need to use a 3S 1300-2200mAh battery that's equipped with a compatible EC3 or IC3 connector.
Anyone know what the d switch does?
No function when using the DXe or DXS transmitter with the AeroScout! The D switch is usually used to control flaps on other models.
@@HorizonHobbyProducts oh okay, I appreciate your response. Just got one of these in the mail and didn't know what that switch did
I think I want one to mount a camera on it.
I was sold this same RC plane with no battery and charger, had to purchase battery and charger separately
I just bought this airplane but lol finding a spot to fly it is challenging
If anyone is putting together this plane and looking at the comments, the Aileron plug requires some good amount of force to get it to snap into place. It will snap and you will feel it. It might seem like it goes in the wrong way, black to yellow, but it's definitely yellow to white. I believe I lost my first Aeroscout due to not connecting these well enough and they became disconnected mid flight. Not knowing what went wrong, I was unable to turn the plane around and it got so far away it lost connection. Hindsight I might have been able to use the rudder to bring it back around. Don't make the same mistakes I did!
No Phillips head screw, it is an Allen head. The screw driver is worthless...putting my Scout together now.
This was originally a Phillips screw and has been changed back to Phillips (in the meantime some will come with a hex/allen screw instead due to an unexpected change by the factory).

Need a plug and play FPV Version/TBS Crossfire
I’m going to get one
