A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

@@spammy1982Completely agree. They missed a lot of other opportunities too, including the opening statement which I STRONGLY believe makes/breaks cases.
I've thought of a couple reasonable theories that explain the death of the Haldersons. He's presumed innocent & I'm confident the jury woukld find my alternate explanations reasonable if they're all avoiding media.
My scenarios are a hard sell & still unlikely to work, but at least acquittal odds increase from 0.002% ....

I can’t wait for the defence to begin. I think they are not asking questions to refute the clear evidence because it’s pointless. I won’t be surprised if they attempt to put forward that Chaz’s father killed his mother in a fit of rage and Chaz then killed his father while attempting to defend his Mother. Chaz then panicked & attempted to hide it all. OR. Some other bizarre story like one of the gun selling friend’s clients with a similar gun did it and made Chaz do the cover up… and that Chaz was a victim.

I wonder what "a Chandler" thinks when they're dismantling his crime with such ease, thoroughness and expertise. Does he realize how smart non sociopaths can be and feel weakened or does he think sth like "Why do they care so much? They should just stop being so nitpicking and let me go!" In other words... Can a sociopath ever be humbled?

He looks completely snowed with sedatives. I think he is trying to stay awake during this entire trial. He has crippling anxiety and would not be able to sit calmly without panicking if he wasn't medicated. During his own time outside of the courtroom, unmedicated, I wonder what he was thinking also. That would be a very interesting case study.

This state has the best investigating unit I have ever seen. I have seen jurors have to decide a case with nothing except circumstantial evidence. I am sure that was very difficult for them. I have heard investigators say people are misled by CSI TV. Obviously some states just do not try.

I agree, this defense team was wayyyy under qualified. In my opinion they were pretty much spectators 😮. On a different note, why didn’t any neighbors hear gunshots? Guess the basement muffled sound. If so that’s the only smart move Chaz did to cover up his horrible crime.

It was leading into the weekend of the 4th of July so perhaps the neighbors just thought it was fireworks. That is if they did hear anything. I think you are right about the basement muffling sounds.

I don’t see how you can call his attorney’s worthless, cause it’s not like they had much to work with for his defense with the mountain of evidence the prosecution had against him. With all the evidence he left behind, not even Johnny Cochran himself could have gotten him out of these murders. 😂😂He can file his appeal for ineffective council and get whoever he wants to be his lawyer but it won’t change all of the evidence they have against him and he will still be found guilty.

      1) Defense
      2) They don't get up because of social distancing. This has been stated previously. They will be up more when it's their time to present.
      3) When the evidence is solid it's better to move on and not give a witness a chance to double-down on incriminating evidence plus the defense knows they will get their own time to bring their defense case
      4) Looks have nothing to do with intelligence, knowledge or skill. Prosecuting attorneys and the excellent judge all have a little extra poundage.
