  • Live Coverage: WI v. Chandler Halderson - Dismembered Parents Trial
    Happening in Court:
Dr. Agnieszk Rogalska - Chief Medical Examiner
Deputy Michael Wilk - Dane County Sheriff's Ofc
    CHARGES:
    Victim Bart Halderson:
    COUNT 1: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 2: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
    COUNT 3: Mutilating a corpse
    COUNT 4: Hiding a Corpse
    Victim Krista Halderson:
    COUNT 5: First-degree Intentional Homicide
COUNT 6: False Info on Kidnapped or Missing Persons
    COUNT 7: Mutilating a corpse
    COUNT 8: Hiding a Corpse
A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

I think this is what takes this crime to a whole different level. I know I could shoot someone if it was to save my children for example. But although I'm medically trained, I've seen surgery, I've seen post mortems, I even did some criminal psychology work at university and I've witnessed a murder. But I absolutely could not cut up a human being. I simply couldn't do it. I don't understand how you could do that to a complete stranger let alone, like in this case, to parents who have been nothing but caring. If you can do something like this there is something very wrong with you. It's really difficult physically to do this! His mum and dad were not small people. The amount of time and effort that he would have needed to do this! That's what I find so shocking. Losing your temper and killing a person in the heat of the moment is so different than planning to kill and take apart a person who loved you. He sat and worked out how to do this, went to a store and purchased various items to help in the process. All while looking totally normal. When you think it can't get any worse he put their heads on his family fireplace! He sat there watching! The smell!! This guy is another level wrong.

    • @shelliea4621
      @shelliea4621 2 года назад +53

Yes! Yes! Yes! I said the same thing! How could he cut apart his parents? His loving, doting mother! It's beyond barbaric! He had to cut both heads off & 4 arms & 4 legs then separate them & lift the torsos & limbs & load em up then unload & carry to dispose of them in different places. I couldn't do it to a complete stranger for a billion dollars cash! I couldn't cut off someone's finger. Once you get to the bone...well... Its not like a cooked chicken. Raw human bone... never mind. And I can't with the heads. I was nauseous for days after hearing a few of the fireplace details. At first I wondered why he did that to them after he killed them & I'm assuming that it's because he didn't want the bodies identified if they were eventually found. Another thing that I can't get over is that after killing his dad, he text his mom & had her stop & get him a soda on her way home to be murdered. After he text her to get him a soda, (knowing that he was gonna kill her when she got home) she sweetly replied "I can do that. :)" How ruthless! He took their lives & it was all for nothing. He lost his girlfriend, his family, his friends, his future & his freedom. I hope that it ALL haunts him every minute for the rest of his life.

It seems defense attorneys want to be reprehensible not all but some. It’s not necessary. Just be professional. I have zero respect for defense attorneys who represent monsters they know are guilty. I couldn’t do it.

You know things are bad when your attorney is displaying more anxiety than you are, lol. Talk about nonverbal communication, and deviation from baseline, does anyone else the defense attorney rocking like Chris Watts waiting for the jury to come in?

Why I'm watching this, I don't know. How a son could do this to his mother is repulsive; everything from the cutting to the maggots is so disturbing, on so many levels. A true American horror story.

The awful job being done by the defense might leave room for ineffectiveness of council.

That is the exact issue I discussed with my hubby last night. He will definitely appeal due to ineffective council. What a waste of taxpayers money.

But truthfully, I cannot come up with any viable cross examination or defense for him on my own. Maybe they have the same issue. I would have tried the not guilty by reason of mental defect using the concussion he claims he had . It is a long shot, but it's better than nothing
