Turn iPhone Earphones as Mic on Desktop Computer (save $ on a mic)

- Today I’m going to show you how to use your iPhone earphone as a Microphone on your desktop computer.
You can plug your iPhone earphone to your computer mic port and speak into the earphone directly for it to work.
It’s even better if you put the earphones on your ears and speak. Apple use your ears to listen to what you speak pretty cool right?!

They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.

@@dognation842 its one of the holes on the back of the earpiece. its hard to describe so try them all until the mic picks up the audio.
Can i use the earphones as a mic while having a headset for sound, is this possible? My headset mic doesn’t work so i was thinking i use the earphones as a mic and headset for sound. Does this work?

The mikrofon is in the thing on the cable, the way you doing it uses the tiny speakers as an mic.

Hey there! I am having problems with this, whenever i put my headphones into the microphone port i can only speak but no hear my friends, whenever i put my headphones into the hearing port, i can only hear my friends but not speak can you help me please?
you need an audio splitter :)
Super helpful however the audio device menu isn’t the same anymore, it’s in settings but works fundamentally the same, just remove your headphones from output and your finished

Try plugging it into the microphone jack instead of the audio jack.
If you're using a laptop it might not have the right input outlet.

Some questions: why is the noise only being detected when I tap on the ear buds them but not the mic? and its only sensitive to loud noises which would force me to be loud

U need to get a splitter, cause your headset 3.5 pin input or 4 pin is either 2 big or too small

My pc has a jack for both microphone and headphones (basically both mic and audio) but when i plug mine in, it only registers my mic in audio management and i cant even speak using it but on a laptop the mic works perfectly fine, the audio doesnt even connect to my headphones but if i plug them into a heaphones jack only it works perfectly, i dont know whats the problem here
Yes that’s normal. If you have a Apple earphones with a jack that has both microphone and headphone on the same jack then you can only use either as an iPhone or as a microphone depending on where you plug into which port

wait, the earbuds turing into mic makes sense, but i saw a vid of a dude cutting the two buds, leaving only the "square" mic part, and it worked just fine, he used a TRRS to TRS converter on the jack tho

I have a microphone and headphone port for my pc. When I put my headphones in my microphone port I can’t hear anyone but they can hear me, and the opposite when I put it in the headphone port. Is there a way to ‘combine’ it?
Joseph yes you have to buy a splitter that basically connects them both. Just look up microphone and audio splitter

Abner Balboa I think since you’re using it as a mic you won’t be able to use it as headphones which is a downside, though I could be totally wrong.

Haha I think to use both you would have to buy an adapter to plug one in the mic input and one in the speaker input. But if you have an earpiece laying around you could use it as a mic and the speaker usually comes with the computer monitor or laptop
