  • Hey guys!! Thank you so much for checking out todays video, soldering pendants & jump rings/jump loops. Please don't forget to subscribe and throw me a like if you enjoy the video. Thank you for watching! I will link relevant products below, but as I've mentioned before I will never link chain or jump rings. ( I don't want to be responsible for a chain that breaks or a weak jump ring and your piece falling.) There is just too much fluctuation in online chains and rings. BUT I will link everything else as always!

Wow, thank you 🙏 You are such a no nonsense person. Everything is straight forward and very sensible. I’ve been so intimidated since trying to do stained glass over a year now. In fact I stopped trying because I felt so stupid. Couldn’t afford the best or do perfect soldering. Then here I find this channel of real easy explanations on doing stained glass. I learned more from watching this video than from any other video I have watched so far! I thought the fume extracter was just to keep smell down! Needless to say, I paused the video last night and went on Amazon immediately and ordered one that arrived this morning! Thinking this will be great for my other crafts as well. I am brand new at this and actually started my first piece while watching this video last night! It is in no way perfect or even good for that matter but it is much better than it would have been without your video. I find the dual angle you used to make the video was super helpful too! I am subscribed now to your channel and look forward to binge watching the rest of your videos!

    Hi Makenzie,
Thank you for a stellar tutorial! I have been searching for the flux you suggested and I cannot find it. Where do you get it/order it from?
    Thank you!

Is it best to use sterling silver jump rings or stainless steel?

I am learning so much from your videos and I believe it’s really improving my technique but I need lots more practice. Do the jump rings patina as well? I can’t seem to see on this video if it did. Beautiful work!

What is the green stuff you dip the brush in before you get the Flux on your brush? Is that step important?

Thoughts on using the same soldering iron for lead free and leaded solder? Can you clean the tip of leaded solder well enough to use it for lead free?

What kind of soldering iron are you using? What kind of copper are you using? Is there different colors of wire I can use? What kind of solder are you using is is a different kind of solder than what you use with a torch ? I looked up soldering irons and every soldering iron I could find was labeled electronic soldering iron

good day Makenzie, when soldering a jumpring onto another item and the jump ring is made of s/steel, could we use the lead-free solder to do this or must you use a silver solder. also, how would we go about to solder s/steel. would we use the butane torch for this?

Fantastic video!! You make it look so easy and I can’t wait to try wrapping some stones I just tumbled. Where do you get the copper tape from? Thanks 😊

It looks so easy when you do it! I keep getting spikes in my solder when i lift the tip off of the foil - other than needing more practice - is there anything else I can do to stop the spikes?

@@MakenzieHallie It's a no-name from Amazon! It's an upgrade for me since it has a temp setting - I'm using the lowest setting at 200. I also tried a different solder and it's helped! Thanks for your reply!

Indeed, I got mine from amazon, just make sure you do not buy the cheaper "Chinese version." They are not the same! 🖤

What material are your jump rings made out of? I am using lead-free sterling solder and stained glass flux with little Walmart jump rings that just will not attach when soldering.

Hi! Thanks for the details!!! Would you mind saying what brand lead free solder you use? I tried DGS its pretty good. Then bought silvergleem. The silvergleem leaves white splotches sometimes. But neither of them come out as smooth as i wish they would. Thick bead comes out with waves and dents? Yours are nice thick beads And smooth😊please help
