  • Are you planning to travel from South Korea to Japan? Take the Overnight Ferry from Busan to Osaka with Panstar Cruise instead of flying! We found very little English information available so in this guide, we will cover everything regarding booking, prices, timetables, and our experiences on the ferry.
You can book a dorm room (affordable) or a private room with a private restroom (more expensive). The ferry is medium-sized and offers a sauna, gaming rooms, entertainment at night, and a buffet for dinner and breakfast with mostly Korean food.
You get a good rest in the comfortable beds and you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset over the sea. You will get to Osaka early in the morning at 10:00 am, so you will save on booking one night at an accommodation in Osaka.
    Very recommended experience!

Glad we could help you with that! When we used the ferry last autumn we struggled to find English information about it so we decided to share this in case someone would want to take the ship as well. It is a great experience 😃

Hey there! Did you feel the ferry was dated? I'm just checking my options and loved the idea of an overnight ferry. We're going from Osaka and making our way to Busan but contemplating taking the Sunflower ferry from Osaka - Beppu then slowly making our way to Busan only because the ferry seemed newer?

We never had the feeling that the ferry was "too old". The private room was modern and clean. The common areas were pretty good as well. I cannot comment on the technical data like speed. Generally we were very happy with the decision to take the ferry instead of flying with a plane

Overall pretty similar to an airport experience. There is passport control and customs. Everything is a little smaller but Japanese border control was very nice to us.

@@marcotravels thanks for your reply, I am assuming the put the QR code stamp on the passport for the tax discount as well Isn't?

@@motochannelmexico8632 there was no QR code stamp back then (October 23). I think you could shop tax-free within Japan as a foreigner with your passport. But I am not up to date on this topic
