Solo, I just want to say that even if this is all very ordinary for you, I really appreciate these videos. Overnight / long distance ferries are just not a mode of transportation in this part of the world. Every one of your trips is absolutely fascinating. And it's always fun to guess when you'll get your next curry hit! 😅
There's nothing nicer than waking up early on an overnight ferry as you approach somewhere new and going out on deck and watching the sunrise. Who needs vast cruise ships?
Solo Travel Japan …..Hello again I just wanted to let you know I appreciate these videos I always enjoy them .I love your sense of humour, thanks for sharing 💖
12:25 you said “I’ll just eat 2” my mind laughed and thought nah, you have at least half 😁 you didn’t let me down 😂 I like that it’s a variety pack, nice as a souvenir/gift. In case anyone didn’t know, if you work in Japan & have a holiday/vacation it’s customary to buy some small souvenirs for workmates 😁 lots of places have small snack souvenirs like that shop had & in this biscuit and chocolate pack 😁 I watch a lot of Japanese based channels. Anyone who doesn’t live in the UK, sometimes if we go somewhere, say to Spain you might pick up a bag of Spanish sweets for workmates it Turkish delight in turkey
A new STJ video is a perfect way to spend my evening 😊 After seeing all these videos I decided I definitely want to stay on an overnight ferry when I visit Japan! That's an experience I just can't pass up. Also those lamps on either side of the TV in your room were so cool!
87$ us for the trip but Gomoku costing the same is probably where they make their money. 🙃 Menu said 1000 yin so that's roughly 6.22 for those who were wondering.
I think made an error on the food. It was supposed to be like 8.70 for the food. But the 87 dollars, I totally understand to get for the boat travel and room. But it might be an error he accidentally did on just the food that he ate.
This is a very affordable deal, and the combination of a boat ride AND room with shower/bath is a killer. I hope to travel Japan someday, and South Korea too. And overnight ferries sound like such a cost-effective way to see as much as possible within a reasonable span of time.
I hate it when they give guests paper cups. They're awful to drink from, and they are wasteful, as they are not recyclable as paper. The towel padding in the box suggests that they used to provide earthenware cups or glasses at some point.
Great trip. If the ship depart later, maybe you arrived at civilized time. The room is huge, but since the trip duration below 12 hours, it isn't enough to enjoyed the room.
STJ, this video tour was a great one. I do want to tell you that I miss your distinctive chirping noise at the beginning of the video - hope it returns.
Thank you for your amazing videos. I will never get to travel in Japan, but thanks to you I can have a small taste of it. I love your videos and find them so fun and relaxing I watch your channel to help me destress after a long day. Thank you for sharing your adventures and helping me find a little bit of peace in my crazy life. Safe Journeys.
My dear friend, I really enjoy it when you go on these amazing trips. Japan is definitely a place I want to visit someday. I send you lots of love and hope you stay safe. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy yourself, and do it for me too! 🤘
When you opened the fridge I remembered this from last week, one of the children in my family (we all share child care) opened our fridge and with a big dramatic sign said “cold air, condiments, jam & milk” 😂 Half hour later the supermarket delivery came 😂 A couple of years ago there was only 2 apples or something left, none of his favourite avocado or berries, he said to his mum “are we poor?” They’d been doing a topic at school about helping poor people, their school even give out food parcels & sometimes rewards are sometimes like pizza and drinks for the family with a dessert.
I have stayed in a business hotel in Shinjuku, and that 1st Class Cabin is twice the size of my room! You know what I really loved about this video is that my phone was vibrating differently during each different mode of transportation. 😊 I am headed to Japan this fall. I may have to make a pointless trip just for the experience.
Nice ferry, but the route is so quick that I'd probably go to sleep immediately and only wake up to shower and disembark. Getting barely 3 hours of sleep is not an ordeal my body can take anymore.
It would be awesome if those yukata are sold separately. I love the design! You rarely see a playful design in men's yukata. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Nice clean ship, not too fancy but ok. The food from the vending machines once heated looks as good as airline food so no problem. Only 87. dollars is a great deal. Thanks for sharing..
Glad you only had two Royces; more would have spoiled your appetite! ..... Nah, just kidding.... I am still so surprised how the sun comes up so much earlier in Japan! ✌🤟
I took a bus from Sapporo to Tomakomai port. It was convenient but crowded. Maybe the train/bus combo on this video is better. I dont know if i was just unlucky with a crowded bus.
Not sure why, but the way the beds were made up when you walked in looked like sumo wrestlers to me. Besides that, I'm teaching myself katakana, and I keep trying to translate the scripts I catch in the video. It's a surprisingly useful study item.
How full are most ferries? 10%? 50%? 90% We don't see people on them very often, which I know is because you try to avoid showing other people, but it would be interesting to know how full they really are usually.
Please use your contacts in the Diet to pass a law requiring all ferry operators to play “Sunflower, Sunflower” for at least 10 minutes during boarding. 🌻🚢🎶😁
Correction: The meal I had at the terminal cost 1,110 JPY / 7.20 USD
Ha ha thanks for the clarification, I was thinking you got ripped off at the restaurant.

I had a minor heart attack when I saw the price lol...

STJ-San: “I’ll just eat 2.”
Viewers: I don’t think so.

At this point, it was inevitable.
Maybe he meant "I'll only eat two.... of each kind."

I love the way you make those videos it really feels like traveling there, no talking is so helpful enjoying watching.
For the price, it looked reasonably comfortable. Thanks for taking us along

However, he got a large which was a ¥110 up charge it seems, bringing it close to $7 in all.
i really hope it was a typo! 87USD for a single dish??? jesus christ.
@@SR-gs8zo Keep up, it was a mistake in the subtitles.
Even if you ordered the large portion, I don't think the rice topped with starchy sauce cost you US $87!
That is awfully high!
@lynnferry291...the $87.00 was for the boat ticket & room.
It is so rare for Mr. Solo Travel to make an error like this. But I am happy to havre him return to my “algorithm”.
@@ericlloyd4329 LOL I know prices have gone up all over but yes, it did seem a bit too high. I enjoy watching the videos too.

Just wanted to offer some info. There's a ferry that goes between Busan (South Korea) to Fukuoka (Japan). The ride is about 3 hours 40 minutes.
Two only? Yeah, right!! At least you didn't finish off the box. It's a nice ferry, but arriving at Zero ugly hours is not great.
8:20 Was legit not prepared for the wave of disappointment that greeted me when you opened that box.....

I have an exam to take in an hour's time, and this video really helped to calm me down. I'm always happy when I see you post something new!
Enjoyable video as always! ❤
Thanks for taking us. I'm surprised that if the ship arrives in the wee hours of the morning you have to disembark, could wait until 8 at least.
They need to clean & re-set the ferry for the next batch of passengers which will be boarding at 7.15am.

I never get a good night's rest, but thanks anyway for the optimism!
6:26 ohh my.. It may be an accident. But was that the first time we saw the women's sauna door?
You must judge by the color. Was it red or blue? It was the public bath, not sauna❤
There have been a few other videos where you can spot the women's bath.
I took a bus from Sapporo to Tomakomai port. It was convenient but crowded. Maybe the train/bus combo on this video is better. I dont know if i was just unlucky with a crowded bus.
"It's larger than some business hotels in Japan." Indeed, in some cases larger than _the entire hotel._ :)
Very nice🤗❤
Nice trip
Always only one pillow, 😔 otherwise the beds and comforters look lovely. Need more pillows
Good job.
Hi big fan ❤
The Gomoku ankake gohan cost as much as the ferry ride? Hope it was tasty. 😜
9:18 - we have it, folks... blurred outline of STJ;s face in the tap
‘This is a sink’. For those that come from countries without sinks and may have thought it a toilet!
At 3:51 the price said 87 USD was that a mistake, if not that is an expensive meal.
Yeah, the menu he showed at 3:40 listed it as 1000 JPY (about 6.20 USD), so it was probably a typo.
@@Kuro_kaz I thought so, thanks.
I'm feeling stuffed just watching you eat all of that food!
3:47 You have the meal at 13,500 yen/$87. Seems a little pricey.
9:13 😙👌🏼 perfection
What is the etiquette with the night wear and the slippers etc, can you keep them? Are they included in the ticket price?
Slippers sometimes but not usually the nightwear.
13:00 😰 NANI???
I wonder if Royce also make rolls?
Did you try both beds or why are both of them untidy before you disembarked?
12:44 two… of each 😂 can’t leave sweets out too long, because that’s how you get ants!
🍪🍪 + 🍪🍪 = 😁
"Salty pork innards" does not sound appetizing! Good call on the seafood rice bowl.
05:18 were you aware that your dessert expired 24 years ago? I hope you didn't feel like throwing up...🤢😅 no...is that a misprint?
They put the year first, then the month, then the date. It took me a long time to realize that.
Oh! So it's the other one that ran aground a few days ago
Chocolate "it's before bedtime, I'll only eat two" 😂
Solo-san being bad boy, 2 pcs of Royce Choco turn into 5 pcs. Hahahaha
Pretty disappointing for the price and super short sailing time. The chocolates are really why took this trip, right?
"It's before bedtime. I'll only eat two." I think you translated "two" incorrectly.
Not sure why, but the way the beds were made up when you walked in looked like sumo wrestlers to me.
Besides that, I'm teaching myself katakana, and I keep trying to translate the scripts I catch in the video. It's a surprisingly useful study item.
The price of the ferry journey makes the bus fare seem expensive.
Is ferry travel subsidized by the Government?
18:28 I'm envious of people who can sleep on command. I'd probably only get three hours of sleep on this route.
Looked like a great value for your money !!!
The price for dinner is probably a mistake, JPY 13500/$ 87 looks a bit overpriced for a dish (even a large portion).
How full are most ferries? 10%? 50%? 90% We don't see people on them very often, which I know is because you try to avoid showing other people, but it would be interesting to know how full they really are usually.
Do you get to keep the nightwear?
No you never do. Only the slippers in plastic wrapped up and toiletries like shavers, toothpaste and toothbrush etc.
I would totally buy a set of those if I could, they look cool 😄
@@RT-qd8ylAmazon
3:45 13,500 for a plate of food, wow.
No, that was for the ferry ticket. His dinner cost him roughly a little more than $6.00.
The menu he showed at 3:40 listed it as 1000 JPY (about 6.20 USD), so it was probably a typo.
Orange Ferry, Silver Ferry, Sunflower Ferry: You are really giving me too many options about my 2025 trip to Japan. You really do spoil people.
Why do we see so few people in the ticketing area and on board?!
They always seem totally deserted. I suppose they make their money from freight
Please use your contacts in the Diet to pass a law requiring all ferry operators to play “Sunflower, Sunflower” for at least 10 minutes during boarding. 🌻🚢🎶😁
Those amenities look amazing, but for such a short trip you really can't take full advantage of them.
Don't you hate it when there is two six o'clocks in the same day?

13,500 JPY / 87 USD (for Gomoka Ankake, large) ????????????????? very expensive or a typo error😂😂😂😂
Why no other passengers?.
