I was in Busan last summer. I loved staying in South Korea! Friendly and helpful people, everything was great, I liked the heavy raining as well. The rain is warm compared to when it's raining in Sweden.
Busan is the no.1 tourist city for Koreans as it is a very unique city in South Korea. it has all the dynasties, decades and regions of Korea. You can enjoy all historical places from all different dynasties in Korea, foods from all parts of Korea, architecture from different decades in modern Korea as well as so many mountains, 6 different beaches, a river and 2natural hot springs, all inside of the city. As it is located in the ancient Korean capital, Kyungju, it has all those historical places from the Shilla dynasty, the first unified dynasty in Korea, while Seoul has ones starting from the Chosun dynasty, the last dynasty in Korea. As it was the city not occupied by the North Korean military during the Korean war, the refugees from all parts of Korea had lived in Busan and that made fusion of Korean food from all parts of Korea and also different areas with different architectures. Some areas are still looking like the 1950's Korean war time while some areas look very futuristic. In addition, traditionally, Busan was a trade port for Korea and Japan and also a stop-over port from China to Japan. So, it has a Chinatown from old times and fusion with Korean, Japanese and Chinese food.
Busan has a much better climate, prettier with beautiful seascapes. When I was there in September and after three days of continuous rain arrived in sunny Busan which had a Mediterranean vibe.
@gdfhh-vk9ug You are not correct. What you are talking about it busanpo, which is small part of the current Busan. Current Busan is combined of Dongnae & Busanpo. Dongnae was the area where noble family was living with famous Dongnae castle while Busanpo was a small fishing village. Dongnae goes back to Shilla dynasty with famous Dongnae Hot Spring used by Kings of Shilla dynasty. Dongnae, Haeundae, Suyong, Geumjeong, Yonje and Nam districts of Busan used to be Dongnae. The reason why Busan is only city with Confucian shrine, Chungyeolsa for ancestors is due to Dongnae castle in Dongnae area. Beomosa, one of the most important Buddhist temple in Korea from Shilla dynasty and one of three Confucian shrine and only one located in a city, Chungyeolsa from Chosun dynasty are located in old Dongnae area. That's why all those Shilla & Chosun dynasty historic places are located in Dongnae area. And all those famous noble guys like Son Sang Hyun, Woo Chang Jun, and others are from Dongnae area. So, the current eastern part of Busan which used to be Dongae was for noble people from Shilla dynasty to Chosun dynasty. And the current western part of Busan, which used to be Busanpo was for working class of fisherman and farmers.
I always look at people and smile at them as i go past, its proven that seeing someone smiling at you heightens you mood and feeling so i just try to put a bit of happiness back into the world. Plus forcing a smile no matter your mood will always make you slightly happier
Busan is my sweet hometown. But I have not been able to go there for the last 5 years due to the pandemic situation… 😢 I am so glad to see the current looks of the city. Thank you for sharing your experience and showing the places where I miss so much.
Hi, guys. I'm amazed that you guys are enjoying Bibimguksu, w♡w. I hope you guys had a wonderful time in Korea. Btw, the pebble stones are for the acupressure(bare feet) if you happen to wonder what are those actually for. And it might be mugwort, green tea or kelp kind of vegetable is added in the noodle. Please, come back as often as you guys can, ok👌😀 Always welcome 🌸🌸🍀🍀
You guys should go Marine city which is located in Busan. It is an amazing area too. You will see tons of skyscrapers. Once you go there you may be excited.
Busan is the most distincive city in korea. People use Strong dialect, and are also crude but full of affection. Urbanism and old-fashionedness coexist. The place is always kind to travelers thanks to those who have strong pride in their hometown
Fantastic vlog. I picked it was Haeundae immediately (b4 seeing the train & sky capsule, of which I also did just the train as the capsules were booked out) as I was there a few weeks ago. You are right that Busan is quite large & spread out, and each area is totally different e.g. The downtown & Chinatown area vs Haeundae. There are soooooo many different things to do & places to visit in Busan. Definitely do Busan in good weather. You will love it. P.S. You VPN'd to Alice Springs in Australia, a small town in the middle of nowhere :p
Fantastic vlog as always guys. Definitely try to get back to Jeju. I was there for a few days last November and loved it! Stunning scenery and all those delicious breeds of local tangerines. See you around the world.
What a nice video! I love the city so much!! Which made me visit there again last week for the 3rd time this year. There was a Film Festival aka BIFF and the atmosphere was amazing. And I'm sorry to hear what you had to go through with the plastic cups.. Korea has a strong policy on using them. So if you want to stay in the place, get your drink in a mug or a glass and when you leave the place, you can simply ask them to pour your leftover drink to a plastic cup to go! I really enjoyed your video! Have a good weekend!
My brother got stationed in Busan I was stationed in Osan at the same time we linked up and discovered Busan together it was incredible and it was amazing to spend time with him in the navy while I was in the Air Force. I just thought of that Hobbut meme, where he's excitedly running, the caption inside the meme exclaiming, "I'm going on an adventure!", with the caption on top saying, "When traveling means finding all the best vegan food" ... or something to that effect.
Det var bra! Thanks for that, you guys. Only vid of many I've seen of Busan that starts with beach! Hope you found non-dairy milk somewhere. I had coffee and oat milk in Seoul...
What a fun vlog! I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling the burnout from all of the intense travelling that you've done, though. I'm hoping that with some rest, all of these trips won't feel like work anymore. Continue travelling safe and I can't wait to see you the next vlog!
I was born and lived in Busan, so I know it is hard to find true Vegan options for you. I am glad that you were able to find some vegan food and had overall good experience in Korea. Kinda unreal that your video is showing my childhood places
Watching people eat vegan food is the most boring thing imaginable. But I guess it's more important for them to be food extremists than to respect the culture and actually eat what the native people eat.
Thanks for another awesome video. Love that you keep it real ❤. I'm more like Dan...not looking at people... only if I need to interact with them 😊... not saying that I don't like them...perhaps I'm a bit shy or socially awkward 😅 ☺️
As ever, really enjoyed your content. I’m wondering: do you guys own any property yet and if so where in the world? If not, where would you like to buy in the future? Thanks for your channel.
Thank you! Not yet - we were close to buying in Sweden but thankfully that didn't happen. We don't feel fully ready to commit yet, but would love a place in Thailand and a summer house in Sweden eventually😅
I agree that going to a place for a second time is usually more enjoyable than the first time 'round, since you don't ''need'' to tick off all those tourist spots and can just relax. Kind of like having a curry and keeping leftovers for the next day and realising it tastes so much better once all the spices have been absorbed by the food (weirdest comparison ever, but that's just what came to my mind 🤣). Talking of food, I'd say the flavour of the Netherlands is definitely cheese. I can't think of a sweet flavour that's generally popular here, but on the savoury front, it's definitely cheese all the way. 😆
You can use google map in Korea but only the drive or public transport option. What I do is use the drive function, and use it to navigate the streets. I have come to realize this is the best option after trying to use the other crappy maps. The hybrid view on google maps helps to locate landmarks and building.
Oskar, Dan, thanks for taking the time to put out this video. Quick question for both of you, did you both needed to have a valid visa upon arrival in Busan from Fokuoka? Thanks.
Definitely my friends, give Jeju another try. I went recently in the Spring and it was utterly beautiful. I missed out Busan back then though, would love to visit one day!
Better is subjective. I lived in Korea for 2 years, one in Gangneung in Gangwan-do and another in Seoul. I only passed through Busan to and from Japan (took the hydrofoil ferry as well to Fukuoka). Your video makes me want to give it a visit. But definitely not better than Seoul but has different things to offer like the beach and that hillside village.
If i don't remember wrong I think there is a law that doesn't allow restaurants/coffee shops to use plastics inside so thats why they told you that, it's not the shop policy. Also 두부가 was great before but sadly the quality has decreased u.u
We went to Busan for a one day port call back in April 2016, and really enjoyed it, despite being there on the only rainy day of our 23 day trip through multiple Asian countries. The teeming rain didn't dampen our favorable impressions of Busan -- the colorful fish market (with only female fishmongers), lovely local people -- but it did thwart any attempts to go farther afield than the downtown area.
I'm a good mix of y'all 2...I look at people and surroundings and if I make eye contact, I smile. But that's totally American in Korea, you do not want to make eye contact. Lol
Me as a Korean, I don’t like to be looked intentionally or look at other people on the street. Busan people tends to look at more than Seoul. One of the many reasons that it is less crowded and smaller population than Seoul. If it makes sense…
I think the encouragement of using reusable cups for coffee shops is a good thing. You criticized the coffee shop for not offering alternatives to dairy. I agree that there should be alternatives, but I don't know the reason for that like feasability or regulations, etc... On the other hand could you have not brought re-usable mugs? Do they accept those?
Rest assured, no matter where you go in Korea, you will do a lot of walking!....lol ...Then again, what better way to experience the city than walking around? Korea has preserved a lot of their history very well.
So nice to see vegans in Korea. I’m vegetarian and am planning to go probably next year. It concerned me that I wouldn’t be able to find places that has vegetarian or vegan food!❤
Does anyone know the name of the restaurant at the start with the bibimguksu? I’m travelling to Korea this summer and looking for vegan/vegetarian options! Thanks
I would stare back at them and usually they'd quickly turn run and hide from me, sometimes it would be like a game of chicken....'who will look away first?!' lol At first it was uncomfortable but i got used to it after a couple years. So sad i never made a channel before leaving Korea. I recommend you guys visit Mokpo, Yeosu, Tongyeong and Gangneung as well next time you visit (not sure if you guys have gone before). Haedong Yonggungsa is probably my favorite/2nd favorite temple in Korea. From Tongyeong you can take a ferry to an island where Yi Sun Shin (famous Korean admiral) lived and there is an epic anime style temple there. Enjoy Korea! :)

Contrary to popular belief Koreans do not eat a lot of meat. Korean food is mostly vegetarian, but not vegan. Much of Korean food is flavoured with fish sauce, anchovies, eggs, etc..
Hi, as a fellow vegan with no korean food experience at all. Could you list some vegan dishes that are vegan by default? I always wanted to try korean food, but all you hear about korean food is korean bbq :(?!
Amaazing video guys!! 🫶We are the same here for when we cross people on the street! Nathalie is the one completely unaware of the people passing! 😂 Where me (Stefano) I tend to notice more the people passing by.. even though I don’t want to! 🫣
Hey Dan & Oskar, what a refreshing change to see you two traveling around Busan from your usual flight vlog. I realised you both are vegans hence some limited food options on flight and land. I feel you guys on the flight of steps. Its hard work!!
Love this. I’m the weird person who gives you a great big smile if you stare at me. Loads of Swedes were caught off guard. In general The Fins just smiled back. Norwegians just avoided eye contact altogether and the Danish looked like they wanted the earth to swallow them if eye contact was made 😅

I was born in Busan 63yrs ago. I lived in SoCal USA most of my life!
Planning on visiting soon 🙏🥰 great vid!
한국에 오신걸 환영합니다~👏👏👏👏한국에서 행복한 추억 많이 만들어 가시길 바래요~~^^♥

Love Busan. Different vibe than Seoul and very relaxed

Seven years of my life here in Busan! It’s an epic city and I’m glad you guys got here.
Just finished watching 'Peninsula' (Last train to Busan sequel) and this came up!
This was a great travelogue of Busan which is a major port city in S. Korea. It appears you both got your "steps" in.
Hi guys. Good to see you. It might be much more helpful to use the Naver map in Korea. Have a good trip.
Always fun and informative! Loved learning about other countries and cultures! Thanks guys! Congratulations to your cousin becoming a parent!!

Thanks, guys. Plenty of intriguing tidbits about South Korea.

So pleasant to discover through your eyes!
2 years ago I applied to visit your country and didn't get Visa I wish I can visit in future probably next year

Pretty sure it was in the 30,000s 😅
@@OskarandDan 👏👏👏 wow
Oskar, Dan, thanks for taking the time to put out this video. Quick question for both of you, did you both needed to have a valid visa upon arrival in Busan from Fokuoka? Thanks.
Korea and Japan are both visa free for us as Swedish citizens, but it all depends on your passport :) Nothing different than arriving via air though
@@OskarandDan Thank you very much for your assistance.
It is very interesting video thx
Definitely my friends, give Jeju another try. I went recently in the Spring and it was utterly beautiful. I missed out Busan back then though, would love to visit one day!
That path with the big stones is for reflexology, where you walk barefoot for health benefits. Uhmmm, even a bit more painful that way.^^
Omg, that's such a cool thing! Should've gone barefoot😆
Welcome to Korea🎉
Better is subjective. I lived in Korea for 2 years, one in Gangneung in Gangwan-do and another in Seoul. I only passed through Busan to and from Japan (took the hydrofoil ferry as well to Fukuoka). Been to Busan in may. Just amazing 😊
Glad you enjoyed it👏

Very nice!
Thanks!
He began his mandatory military service late last year, and He’s expected to serve through June 2024. In January, he offered Fans an update on his tenure with a WeVerse post, writing (per a translation) and He says, “I’m having fun. I’m posting a photo with permission from the military. Army, always be happy and stay well.”
And Jin is complete their Mandatory Military Service
(He was Soldier!)
Thought of changin' His name

Oskar and Dan, Blackpink’s Rosé Soars in Platform Pumps for New Tiffany & Co. Campaign. We know, Blackpink member Rosé brought sky-high style to Manhattan or Japan with Tiffany & Co. Including the BTS Member, Jimin. In a new campaign video on Instagram, the Korean-Aussie New Zealand-born singer stepped through the spinning glass doors of the high jewelry brand’s 727 5th Avenue boutique - known as the “Landmark” boutique, following its recent opening this spring after renovations - in towering platform heels. Rosé’s style featured smooth black leather uppers with narrow closed toes and thick soles, secured by buckled ankle straps. Boys, She is very pretty, Rosé would never going to the Australian Derrimut 2 4 7 Gym, She's My Ex-Girlfriend. Ok, back to Geogjeong Ma for now.

Contrary to popular belief Koreans do not eat a lot of meat. Korean food is mostly vegetarian, but not vegan. Much of Korean food is flavoured with fish sauce, anchovies, eggs, etc..
I see a lot of me in Dan 😊❤️
Hi,
as a fellow vegan with no korean food experience at all.
Good thing both couples have balance🤣
What time of year was this
Hahaha. As a Korean, we avoid staring strangers because we think it can be accepted as a aggresive or rude gesture.
Odd about Google Maps. Has worked for me.
No fish market ?

I am like you,Dan. I look away from people when I walk by them as well. It feels awkward to look/stare at strangers.
Hey Dan & Oskar, what a refreshing change to see you two traveling around Busan from your usual flight vlog. I realised you both are vegans hence some limited food options on flight and land. I feel you guys on the flight of steps. Its hard work!!
Welcome to this channel👋🏼
@@OskarandDan Thank you, am looking forward to your vlogs, both the flights and travel ones are informative. Appreciate your sharing.
Gong Cha is from Taiwan
Love this. I’m the weird person who gives you a great big smile if you stare at me. Loads of Swedes were caught off guard. In general The Fins just smiled back. Norwegians just avoided eye contact altogether and the Danish looked like they wanted the earth to swallow them if eye contact was made 😅
Gotta love the Finns🤣
Busan South Korean Battle a long time ago.
