I cannot wait for the full release of this game. What I played was SOOOOO good. I made myself quit so I can experience the whole thing all at once when it's finished
The conversations blew me away! I hope at some point it comes on the switch. I would drop everything to get it. Stardew valley is my favorite game but I wished it had more dialogue between townspeople, this game seems to sell a functioning town rather than dating options. I know stardew valley has that, but it was kinda pushed in the background for me. I had to search for the cute townspeople interactions.
Yeah, I like Stardew for the farming aspect, but the community feels dead and the romance-able characters aren’t all that well written. I’ve played some of Sun-haven and it seemed like a mixed bag on the front; the town life feels (especially considering HOW MANY towns they are but even the just the first one) feels more lively and animated, but I feel like the romance-able characters have less depth (though, to be fair to Sun Haven, it has like at least twice the amount of them to flesh out so it’s understandable.) I haven’t seen much of the datable characters of Fields of Mistria yet (every single RUclipsr seems obsessed with March…) but the dialogue thus far seems much more engaging, varied and life-like than in anything else I’ve seen in the genre !
@@happyjellycatsquidTo be completely honest with you, I played over a thousand hours because I'm addicted to the farming 😂. I kinda just roll the dice on who I wanna romance to spice it up. I do have a favorite, but what's the point of doing it over again? It's purely the game play that keeps me coming back.
I think Stardew Valley is more getting an economy going and ticking off everything so you can progress, it's slightly more stressful to me because of all the timed quests and what not, and struggling to find that one item so you can unlock something (and having one eye on a wiki half the time). Like do I really care about any of the romance ones? Nah I pick the prettiest one with the mod I got to replace the butt ugly avatars (which are also totally incredible because one person made everything yadi yada). Fields of Mistria leans a lot more into the cozy farming game, I feel as much stress as I want to put on myself. I like all the characters and they don't need anything edgy to draw me in. I collect stuff for the museum because I want to, not because I need a bridge.
The format of this video is so excellent! I love that you talk about the first day, feelings etc and then have a break to tell folks this is where the spoiler friendly bus stops! Ive already seen a few videos on this game so Im sticking around but FULLY plan to buy it when it hits full release :>
You can actually use a pickaxe on an artifact spot instead of a shovel! Also you can feed your chickens coconuts and they’ll give you more than 1 of the gems that you can place at the chicken statue, and if you have 4 hearts with any of the townies they’ll only then care about your birthday :(
Honestly I'll say as someone who has played both games, I think Fields of Mistria has Stardew beat. There's so many QOL improvements made, I really think this and games like My Time at Sandrock are the new standard for me as far as cozy, farm sims goes. The dialog alone is seriously impressive
I don't think Mistria is better. Stardew is more well thought of and the characters more dynamic. Yeah, the dialogue isn't as cute but it's more realistic. It has more serious themes (alcoholism, suicide etc), has more places to go (and a whole ass island), MANY easter eggs and better gameplay (when it comes to dungeons) HOWEVER having said that Mistria is good in it's own way. It's easier (fishing, farming, building, becoming friends with the npcs is easier) and softer looking so u can just sit back and enjoy urself (And the breeding animals to get cute colours is adorbs and new) (and can't forget that it's more inclusive, having both pronouns and black characters) All in all both games have different goals while being farming games but it's still early to judge Mistria as a finished game. We don't know half the story!
I've been obsessed with this game. I've finished whatever has been released so far but I am going to be ready for this update with materials and money! 😂
I was waiting for a deep review before diving into this. It seemed so similar to stardew valley I was worried it would lessen my love for it, but it seems so well done.
I really hope the complete game comes out on the Switch, I would LOVE to play this! I like that it holds your hand quite a bit at the beginning! And the character portraits, wowie! This is such a beautiful game already.
OH MY GOD 😍I was just thinking recently is Liss was playing/played Fields of Mistria and i'd absolutely adore a video about it and... BOOM!! Over an hour+ video heck yeah!
I’m so excited for the big November update!!! I stopped playing for a while once I completed the story and got to the current end of the mines but I LOVE this game so much. I’ve gotten at least 3 of my friends to play it too because I can’t speak highly enough of it!!!
It amazes me that your platform isn’t larger than it is! I have been a fan/subscriber for probably a year and a half at this point, and I love the amount of effort you put into each video!
I agree stardew is the gold standard in terms of gameplay but for me the characters have like a darker undertone i loved the harvest moon back to nature vibes where you were looking for your childhood sweetheart
I've put in near 40 hours and barely got to fall 😂 I love it so much, I'm milking it so bad ❤ I can't wait for the update!! I'm patient enough and have other games to play so I don't burn myself out before the update 😂😂 This is the first "stardew" adjacent farming sim I've picked up so far and I'm not disappointed. I love the sprinklings of animal crossing influence so much. I only want to marry Celine, she's just a sweet delicate flower. Unless Olric becomes available then that's out the window 😂
Oh my god, your username and aesthetic is so cool. I've been delving deep into different witch cultures. And my best friend has recently taken up the teachings and spiritual practices of the Old Norse pantheon. Stay dope, fellow Liss fan 🖤
I saw this video and immediately watched it! I love liss and I love fields of mistria! I havent played in a while since I did kind of everything but this video reminded me of all the things I love about it! Also liss, did you find the dragon statue in the mines? You can use the essence there too for mining and combat perks ❤ There's also a wishing well in the narrows!
you know what i would like as a mini farming game? where like potion permit, you grow them to holistic healing stuff in a small apartment in the city no live stock, you have to befriend crows with bread to get feathers or trinkets from them and chase stray cats to get fur and (a la fallen londen) have them tell you secrets. so not really a farming sim but i also dont like farming sims much but ALMOST do so
if anyone here loves this and or graveyard keeper, stardew, animal crossing etc. all the RPG farming and life sims you ABSOLUTELY NEEEDDDD to play Kynseed on steam!!! It is so underrated and not discussed here on youtube and i am craving a Liss review 🛐🛐
I'm really looking forward to playing this, but I do want to play the whole game. I personally don't really enjoy playing early release/unfinished games. But it does look like loads of fun!
I made good money cooking. Plus, once you get your cooking level up high enough, you can craft food that restores more health/stamina over time. My biggest problem with the game is that they don't support my Steam Deck's keyboard. I can't make a barn because it keeps wanting me to rename it, and I can't because it won't let me pull up the virtual keyboard AND won't recognize the keyboard when I'm docked.
Nobody is talking about Ova Magica!!!! It's also in early access but I got 100 more hours on it than Fields of Mistria before I decided to stop and wait for updates
witch using the townsfolk as guinea pigs for her questionable potions x doctor running a clinic over a mysterious basement is such galaxy brain ship dynamic, thank you fields of mystria personally i think i'd go for celine. i am not immune to her archetype and i like the little character beat of her not telling you that the flower-collecting task was a competition she was going to smoke you in. sneaky! edit: oh no, after seeing the four-hearts, ryis is winning me over too. a birdhouse reconstruction project is so charming
I'm waiting to buy u til after their Nov update 🙏 honestly I wasnt certain at first cause when people compare things to Stardew it messes with my expectations but after watching lilsimsie play through this it looks so cute and promising and right up my alley. Excited to hear your thoughts on it
as a stardew valley fan im so glad that i get to experience a birth of another soon to be (or already is) veeery popular farming game, cuz i got into SV only like 4-5 years ago so it was already fully developed. although the wait for updates is a bitch. im in love with the game already, my brain is fuzzy with all the new neuro pathways lmao. SV is explored from top to bottom already so FoM is a life savior. i also love that the mechanics are different. all those little things of being able to always give villagers gifts even if they're in bed already, being able to buy stuff at any given moment, THE JOINED CHESTS, EVERYBODY. and so on. also the art style is so pleasant to the eye. the music there is not my favourite, i actually turned off the music and i like it so much better, it's more cozy that way. but my game is lagging sometimes and it also crashed a few times (right at the end of the day too!!) and i still don't know whether it's just an EA problem or my computer acting up. btw i first played the first year of the game and then went to FoM social media accounts. now imagine my face when i saw the statistics that had a whole separate line for "gifts given to March"... so i really am not special huh? what can i say, i love a good tsundere babygirl who's also a buff man, and im obviously not the only one. and im saying it as a full blown sapphic! i wanted to romance valen at first but then i saw her interactions with juniper and i started shipping them instead... it's like sam and sebastian situation all over again lmao. also, i think it was kinda inevitable that March became so popular simply because he really stands out. everyone is like super nice to you and then there's him, and THEN there's him drunk and we all understand that this guy is actually just really emotionally constipated. and it's a nice change of pace too. i kinda want some conflict and drama inbetween characters. too bad that everyone is too nice lmao, but it's okay. also i really hope there would be some fun little secrets later in the game

Including the legendary bug catching? I feel like I'll never do it again, it's so painful
Same, but it’s so fun!!
@@DoppelgangerTH I hadn't done those yet! Saving most content for release!
im waiting for nov 18th! when the next update comes out
It’s going to take almost a year. I can’t wait 😭

No we don't need a new farming sim, but we need more GREAT farming sims
Liss just dropped an over hour long video on a game I have been interested in for months.
You know its going to be a banger.
Liss just dropped an over hour long video on a game I have never even heard of. You know its going to be a banger.
(the lass never misses)
This is probably one of the most put together early access games I've ever seen
I agree, I was very impressed
I genuinely love how much of a potty mouth you get when discussing cozy games.
Same. Every other word from my mouth is fuck, so her narration is hella relatable.
The combination of pixel art and 90s anime evokes the feeling of a Sega CD game which is really nice.

is it bad I actually like this more than Stardew? it reminds me so much of harvest moon magical melody! Especially Olric and March !!
I'm gonna tell ya now. you can use the pickaxe for dig spots as well.
WHAT
@@lissthelass Yeh. I was like Dig site, Archeology... it must need pickaxe! Let's try that! and it worked lol.

i love this game but i desperately need them to give us an option for longer days. the current pace feels like it punishes my neurodivergent brain lol
Farming sims are my fave genre and I will forever fall in love with them

This looks so fun!!! You should try Sun Haven too, I love that game!
I need to revisit sunhaven for sure! I only played a few hours of it
Hun you don't have to touch the crystal ball. It shows different weather icons corresponding to the the next days weather each time you wake up.
Great! any other tips?

I haven't watched the video yet but my answer to the title is yes. always. I collect them.
