Nevertheless, this was a really fun video, and I hope you'll do it again once you get your hands on the official cookbook; hopefully the food will taste better overall

My grandmother used to give her daughters slices of raw potato to use as cookies for their tea parties. So they grew up eating raw potato with salt. Which then led to my generation growing up eating raw potato with salt. And now I have to increase the amount of potato needed for recipes so that my kids and I can get a slice while I prep dinner. It's a yummy tradition that takes me home to the Pennsylvania coal region with every potato filled dinner.
Seeing how Andrew takes on every task you can't do and him holding your jacket while you show food to the camera so you dont get it dirty is SOO wholesome and cute!
I’m from Hawaii and my family used to run a poi shop back in the day. It’s been interesting seeing how people tackle making poi. Commercially you’d use a poi mill which gives it a silken smooth consistency. Traditional way is with a wooden board (papa ku’i’ai) and a stone and the kalo/taro is mashed until smooth, mashing kalo this way is called pa’i’ai. Fresh pa’i’ai has a pleasant and starchy sweet flavor but you really won’t come across it very often unless you have family that runs a kalo patch haha. Under mashed kalo can be very dry and crumbly and then seeing y’all mash the kalo with the fork … yah it would not be a love for me either 😂😂
I'm also from Hawaii and I went to a pa'i'ai workshop when I was at UH! I remember it took a REALLY long time to learn how to properly get even a tiny amount of the kalo mashed on the board (like a few spoonfuls), and even then what I made wasn't very good after spending a couple hours learning and my arms were sore. 😅 I'll stick to buying bags from the store lol TBH I think all things considered, it wouldn't have been possible money, time, or skill wise to get the necessary supplies and make poi in one night, especially for two people who have never eaten it and don't live in Hawaii Also, I will add for people reading this comment who aren't familiar with poi, that it's actually in the wrong category! Poi is actually a starchy side dish, like how other cultures will have rice or potatoes. It goes great with some fried fish or smoked meat :D
Also, if Charlie ever reads this and wants to attempt making poi again, I believe there's an instant powdered version you can order online! It won't taste as authentic but definitely will be a lot closer than mashed taro.

22:35 I think the algae soup could be referencing a Korean soup called "miyeok guk". It is usually translated as "seaweed soup", but we don't really have that in Stardew. A couple of things that would have made this easier to complete. 1: If you need to have multiple things in the oven put them in all at the same time so you don't have to constantly open the oven letting the heat out to put a new item in there. 2. Andrew is incredible in this, your guys' dynamic is so funny and fun to watch. (the way he kept dancing as the miner's treat fell with your devastated face was *hilarious*
This was wholeheartedly one of the funniest videos I've seen in a MINUTE. The dedication is beautiful, and the slow descent into madness as two besties stay up for far too long is so real lmao. God tier content Charles
Okay, I don't usually comment on RUclips videos but I genuinely CACKLED watching poor Andrew smash that coconut caveman-style in the rain, this made my day Also amazing video in general! Just in time for the release of the Stardew cookbook too!💚
That omelett was what's called a french omelette as opposed to a diner-style omelette and therefore not filled. Though instead, it was supposed to not cook 100% through and stay soft in the middle, which you probably didn't manage since that takes a lot of practice to get right.
FDA states for human consumption fish must be frozen under -4 F for seven days or farmed since the incidence of parasites in farmed fish is practically nonexistent. That salmon was almost certainly farmed based on its color so you could have eaten it. For good sashimi get your salmon and cover in salt and sugar and stick it in the fridge for 45 minutes. Take it out, rinse it off in a bowl of fresh water then rinse it in another bowl of fresh water and you have delicious cured sashimi.
I’d be eager to see this revisited when the official Stardew Valley cookbook comes out 29:01 also those look like they might be garlic scapes? Kinda hard to tell tho
Great video! Since you asked for other games to tackle, and the remake is releasing in just a couple days, I would love you see you guys try your hand at Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door's 57 recipes. Normally each one only takes 1 or 2 components to make, but most of them have several different viable combinations, allowing for easy substitutions to be made if you run low on specific ingredients. Just note that some of these recipes require OTHER completed recipes as ingredients (for example, there's a chain of like 4 different pasta dishes that involve adding 1 new ingredient to the previous dish in the chain), and some of them are not intended to be edible at all (namely the ones that are so volatile that you're meant to chuck them at enemies like grenades, lol), so those are some things to keep in mind if you give it a shot.
The dishes mostly being neutral kind of brings more truth to Mayor Lewis making a huge deal about the Luau soup. Flavor really is a luxury for the residents of the Valley.
Charlie dropping the miners treat and Andrew continuing dancing while pointing at the unfortunate candy’s fate while Charlie’s face expresses the full of range of disappointment and sadness capable by the human soul is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen
Instantly liked just for the ambition. Also HOW CAN YOU HATE FISH YOU HEATHEN!!! XD Also just so you know - squid ink has uses in cuisine. Yes, the ACTUAL ink, not food dye. And it does have it's own taste.
I don't even like the game but this vid was recommended and the effort/ relationship dynamic deserves a like. Especially when he protected your shirt at 17 minutes 🥹

Fun fact for futyre reference! Sashmi/sushi grade fish just means that it was previously frozen (this kills any parasite eggs in the fish, thus making it safe to consume) So as long as you use previously frozen fish, go hog wild with raw fish at home!

I would LOVE a sequel for this video with the official cookbook recipes!!! It'd be awesome to see you and Andrew back in the kitchen, I adored your dynamic and laughed so hard during the video so many times!
The amount of cooking is crazy. You've got insane thrifting & plating skills and Andrew is incredibly sweet!
I love how you got everything ready, even food dye!

this comment is a beautiful labor of love 🩷
Underrated comment !!!! So cool thank you for putting time into this
Here, have a like for such an undertaking. ;)
This comment is so cool what?
dedication !!
Almost dying from staying in the same room as sardines while casually munching snails is quite the take.
as someone who cannot cook, that you went on to cook so many different and new-to-you dishes in such a short time frame is insanely impressive
I'm like three minutes in, and I just want to say that the way you cooked all the breakfast dishes in like a pound of oil is making my stomach turn. Just heartburn central up in this biznatch. I respect the effort, 10/10 genuinely, but gbluugh my tummy :c
Andrew is incredible in this, your guys' dynamic is so funny and fun to watch. (the way he kept dancing as the miner's treat fell with your devastated face was *hilarious*
This was one of the best videos ever. How did you have the energy for this much cooking in such a short time
Watching Andrew silently point and laugh at your pain at 59:22 really just capped it all off so beautifully
Yeah that was hilarious 😂
Andrew as general Grievous was spot on😂
This was wholeheartedly one of the funniest videos I've seen in a MINUTE. The dedication is beautiful, and the slow descent into madness as two besties stay up for far too long is so real lmao. God tier content Charles
the leftovers from this must've been tremendous
Okay, I don't usually comment on RUclips videos but I genuinely CACKLED watching poor Andrew smash that coconut caveman-style in the rain, this made my day
Also amazing video in general!
Patrick cult?!?!?!?! It wouldn't be a Charlie video without the formation of a brand new cult
Patrick motivated us all the way through to the end, it's only right
I love how you two waited until the eggs were cold in the breakfast to taste them
Famous food that sucks in all ways once it gets cold
FDA states for human consumption fish must be frozen under -4 F for seven days or farmed since the incidence of parasites in farmed fish is practically nonexistent. That salmon was almost certainly farmed based on its color so you could have eaten it. For good sashimi get your salmon and cover in salt and sugar and stick it in the fridge for 45 minutes. Take it out, rinse it off in a bowl of fresh water then rinse it in another bowl of fresh water and you have delicious cured sashimi.
I had no idea you could control the ebb and flow of time with your cooking prowess. 😄
The windows: 🌙 ☀️ 🌙 ☀️ 🌙 ☀️
I’d be eager to see this revisited when the official Stardew Valley cookbook comes out
29:01 also those look like they might be garlic scapes? Kinda hard to tell tho
I also thought scapes!
"carrots are loser parsnips" is such high praise, im about to roast some parsnips now 😂
I thought your fish tacos were the most abysmal recreation of one of my favorite foods. Then, I continued watching the video.
Now I wanna see Charlie try the official recipes from the Stardew Valley cook book
The dishes mostly being neutral kind of brings more truth to Mayor Lewis making a huge deal about the Luau soup. Flavor really is a luxury for the residents of the Valley.
This is BRUTAL. I would never be able to do this. So impressive!
Ok now that I’ve actually finished the video, I’m even more in awe. That was a wild ride!
hahaha truly one of the most challenging things I've ever done, but I'm now a PROUD gourmet chef 😌
Charlie dropping the miners treat and Andrew continuing dancing while pointing at the unfortunate candy’s fate while Charlie’s face expresses the full of range of disappointment and sadness capable by the human soul is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen
I love Andrew! I hope he stays around
Instantly liked just for the ambition. Also HOW CAN YOU HATE FISH YOU HEATHEN!!! XD
Also just so you know - squid ink has uses in cuisine. Yes, the ACTUAL ink, not food dye. And it does have it's own taste.
The absolute DEDICATION to recreating the dishes, down to the plates is INSANE!! 10/10 video once again, Charlie.
I don't even like the game but this vid was recommended and the effort/ relationship dynamic deserves a like. Especially when he protected your shirt at 17 minutes 🥹
Please dont let this be the last we see of andrew
You and Andrew had such fantastic synergy in this video!
NOT STAPLING THE CHIVES 😂
Shrimp cocktail isn’t just plain shrimp and cocktail sauce. It has to do with the way the shrimp are prepared 😭😭😭😭
thank you to andrew for valiantly saving charlie from the salmon fire of 2024 o7 let this be a lesson not to put baking paper near an active stove burner
kneading a dough while wearing multiple rings is truly a Charlie moment lmao
Gotta say, you cooked elliott’s favs the best, and loved them too! Pretty obvs that your love for him is true😶🌫️💅😎
TOO TRUE, I didn't even realize 😍 It's just meant to be
I kept waiting for some sort of hat to drop in the opening, like this was just part one of three or something, but the fact you actually managed to do it all?? Insane!! Congratulations!!
i think this is truly the most commitment i have seen in a youtube video in a while. lots of money spent. lots of time planning. lots of time cooking and executing, all WITHOUT RECIPES. amazing, amazing work charlie. very enjoyable.
i agree 100%- also we nearly have the exact same name but mine is Olive grace and i love the way urs is spelled its so pretty
@@olimacaroni7thank you !
LMAO "There was a fire" is a very diplomatic and blame-avoiding way of saying YOU set fire to something.
Fun fact for futyre reference! Sashmi/sushi grade fish just means that it was previously frozen (this kills any parasite eggs in the fish, thus making it safe to consume)
So as long as you use previously frozen fish, go hog wild with raw fish at home!
“It’s got a lot of components and I do not intend on making it correctly” literally sums up 90% of the reasons why most of the dishes didn’t turn out well. 😂 Still entertaining to watch!
Andrew was the real MVP in the kitchen.
This is the first video of yours to ever pop up on my home screen and so it is the introduction to your channel for me. I love it, congratulations on your 80 dishes. As a baker myself I enjoyed the more exotic recipes and the desserts section. Andrew is amazing also, absolutely love him
I will subscribe
Also as a brit I'm afraid I have to put a dampener on your GBBO. It's not the show it used to be unfortunately. I am sorry
Charlie getting more and more tied and getting progressivly weirder until playing eye of the tiger randomly... yeah that's a vibe 😂
I feel like you should be waaaaay more proud of the fact you THRIFTED all of the bowls and stuff. THAT WAS AMAZING
