    I prefer the dd as it has the double bottom that you can put a karrimat / thermarest in for comfort also you can use it on the ground as a bivvy bag. The black midge net is also better for looking through than the green version .

    Snugpak Jungle Hammock holds 180kg All DD Hammocks hold 125kg. Always use shock cord for the net suspension.
    I have both hammocks.

    • @Efendi_Bass
      @Efendi_Bass 4 года назад

      Yes. Jungle all the way!
      How could you applaud a weaker, heavier and bigger pack?? Only for it's black and with poles? MG.

      Paul Bisseker Bushcraft on that 550 cord suspension there is no way that’s good for 180 kg except under the most favorable of conditions, which a real world user won’t always manage to create.
      DD’s hammocks don’t break at 130 kilos, they just don’t warrant them for higher weights.

    One thing about the DD is those tree cords allow water to run into the hammock. This is a major downside. These can be swapped out, but sometimes to be aware of

    For me the mossie net on the Snugpak is a weak point, particularly where the hanging loops are sewn. Looks like a split waiting to happen.
    I also think you need to adjust you audio levels mate, your vocals are very quiet. Keep the content coming though, great channel.

    Ive got a hammock very similar to the snug pack but on the first use the bug net ripped and left a 2 inch hole so was not impressed but my DD hammock has never let me down, sturdy and well made.... its DD all the way for me..atb...jeff.

    I have a £17 hammock from eBay it has alot more than both or those hammocks put together with poles pockets and a very strong fly net with reinforcement's my only problem is that it has no name so i can't tell people which hammock it is I can only say that you will find it on eBay you can get 2 for £30 you can't lose.

  • @HikingFeral

    I think the deciding factor is this, do you like a little stretch in the fabric of the hammock?choose the snugpak. Do you like a firm non stretchable material? Go with the DD. I find the parachute silk of my tropical hammock has a little stretch and its different. I don't mind it.

    I recently purchased the DD Frontline Hammock to replace my DD Camping Hammock. Nothing wrong with the Camping Hammock but it doesn't have the protective mesh. You cannot fault DD products.

    • @d1ppaz
      @d1ppaz 7 лет назад

      What one do you prefer now you've got both ? I'm trying to decide which one to buy. I don't like the idea of protective mesh being attached all the time with the FL, not allowing you to have a ridgeline in place.

      Also, 550 Paracord as a suspension system? And especially as the tree straps? What is this, the 1990s?
      I mean, the DD webbing is already pretty primitive but 550 is both weak and stretchy. Sure, you’re doubling it up but you’re also putting knots in it that halve the strength. So you get roughly 500 pounds of strength, which with geometry (and especially if you accidentally get a tight hang at a straighter angle than 30 degrees) and your maximum breaking strength is gonna be around 120-180kg - which a normal person can reach with a bit of bouncing.
      And then there’s the tree damage.
      On the plus side it’s pretty light and super cheap to replace, but...

    the net on the snugpac isnt all that great.i ripped two of the loops out & put a massive tear down the side of it on a couple of camps.DO NOT USE PARACORD TO SUSPEND THE NET.school boy error hey lol.also,because its single skinned,any mat in that one slides around too much to be of any use,or so i found.i havent been out in the frontline yet but hope to soon.enjoy watching your vids btw.some good content
