Thank you. So unfortunate that this printer has such a clearly engineered to fail feature. Corporate greed made manifest. I appreciate your engineering a solution to this problem.
It's certainly unfortunate but it seems Canon is learning, as newer Megatank models are appearing with user replaceable maintenance boxes. Just not seen anything for the G5000 to G7000 series as yet. Glad our solution has been useful though.

Each key is a single credit so you can’t reuse. The other option is to source the correct service tool for your printer. Getting access to and identifying the correct one however is the tricky part.
Isn't there a sponge or something similar inside the printer that is filled up with ink, when this error shows up?
Yes there is. This video deals with the reset process but there’s a second video that shows how to fit an external waste ink tank (ie: Potty train the printer instead of just replacing the waste pads). It’s linked in the video description and at the end of this video too.
Mine does not spit the paper. The Power goes solid and I get a red flash on the error indicator while still on service mode. What might be the issue.
Good question.. I’ll need to do some research… if you can email us via support@octoink.co.uk with details of any other symptoms, error codes, etc.. then that’d be useful.
AFTER STARTING THE PROCESS, DOES IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO COMPLETE?
It should only take a few seconds. If it appears to stall, wait a full minute then turn the printer off, then on again. Sometimes that allows the process to complete. If the error remains, it may be a connection error which requires more help.
what if after the first step, the power LED still not showing that solid indicator? :')
You may have a different error causing problems. Try checking the printer status on your computer to see if it gives more information..

The key is part of the Printer Potty kit bundle (G5) but if you just want the reset key on its own you can get it here:

Can i reset MG7170 with this resetter tool?
The MG7000 series is not listed as being compatible with the WICReset app so it looks like the answer is no. We have had some customers and other users report back that other unlisted models worked with the app but we can't recommend it ourselves as it could potentially cause the printer to stop working.

Not sure what you mean. Can you provide a more detailed explanation of what you are seeing on your printer and computer along with any other symptoms.
