- Fixing the Canon Error 5B00 without any software. (DIY) Just that simple and easy. Error code 5B00 mean the waste ink counter overflow. The printer will blink as follow: Orange light 7 times. Alternatively Green (Power) and Orange
THis worked!!! Canon told me there was nothing to do to fix it. They said I needed to buy a NEW printer, it was a hardware failure! HA!!! Now I don't have to spend $150. THank you! THank you! Thank you!!!
Thanks so much, this fix saved a few hundred dollars. I spent over 3 hours with canon and they could no help me, their only solution was to buy a new printer.

I looked at several RUclips channels to fix this error and they said download kits, blah blah, but then I ran across this simple fix. And the problem was just that, I over filled my inks wells. If i could hug you, i would. Other videos are proposing reset keys at a cost of 10 to 15$ when the procedure is acually free as you just shown. Awesome !!!

Thanks for this. Other Method was use in G3010 - i was Hold Power button - Then Press 5 times the STOP. then POWER not blinking press 5 Times STOP again. Then power Test Print - Then after that Press 3 Times STOP then Press POwer button - The final Print test page will print. after that OFF and ON the printer.
You are the only one I could find who walked a person through the COMPLETE process of resetting my printer. I do want to add. I found a website showing how to clean and reuse the pads. I went one step further. I extended the hose that drains the link onto the pads from within the printer to a plastic bag outside the printer. Now, the ink doesn't even go onto the pads. This will prevent the same problem from happening again.

@@chrischank5330 I followed this. I soaks the pads in soapy water. You have to be very gentle. I rinsed them very well. Then squeezed all the water out of them and let them dry in the sun. ruclips.net/video/2ghmJYNf3mI/видео.html

This video always comes through for me. After doing this twice, the advice I would add for next time is that this error code is letting you know that the ink absorber pads/ sponges at the back of the printer are full of ink. So the second time I got this error message, I also took out, washed out, and dried those pads (or you can buy new ones online for $10-$20). There are also videos on RUclips on how to do this.
Worked for my G4200. At the end of the steps, just needed to press the Power button to turn the unit OFF. Then, back ON again and everything was good again.

Thank You so much........i thought my Canon G 3000 printer had developed some serious technical issue and the rather rude Pop Up Screen suggesting 'Error code 5800' would warrant a trip to the service centre which would have invariably meant spending a few bucks and time...thanks so much.

Brilliant! works for my G3000 series printer also. I had to push power button afterwards to turn it off and then turn it back on to put the printer back online.

Stop+power+5stop button is ok. After waiting for the power blinking to stop, when I press the stop button 5x the light is not switching to stop button and power button. Then after the 5x stop button, once I press the power button the printer will just turn off without doing anything. anybody?

it helps me to remove this 5B00 error but after that i tried test print and no ink came out.....i tried again open the ink storage and i clean the print head with warm water....after that,,,,test print again and ALL COLOR APPEARS!

Brilliant, thank you. I replaced the ink pads (DIY) but this solved the problem of repaeting error messages asking to return printer for service. Should Canon be allowed to withold software codes to make money on unnecessary "service" or forced buying of new machine?

Thank you. The exact sequence did not work on the G4410 but somehow it started working by pressing the black button 5 times or a combination of red and black.

Since B500 is "full ink absorption pads" can they be removed and cleaned or is there any 3rd party that sells the ink absorption pads?
Followup from my previous post... the pads can be removed and cleaned. Remove the 2 screws on the back panel, carefully remove the 3 pads from below the paper infeed, wash, dry and reinstall the pads.
