  • I continue to get lots of questions still about the power button and front panel errors when it comes to the optiplex case swap. There are many way to do this, some which require some splicing, cutting, tucking old wires away, all which can become an eye sore when your trying to go for a nice clean build on a budget. One of the viewers sent me some info on a guy on eBay that sell the connectors to do this swap very easy. I bought them, plugged them in an within minutes I was up and running with no errors. Check out his youtube channel and eBay store if you want to do this swap with clean look!

    Thanks for this video. I just purchased the adapters and I'm excited to see how well it works. I had gotten all stalled when I bought a new case for my housemate's computer, so I'm glad for this kind of solution. I'll try to remember to let you know how it goes, since you asked for that feedback. Also, I'm glad to realize it was a sneaky proprietary connector and I'm not a total dunce who can't plug things in. :-P

    thank you for posting this. I hope you can reply to my question. I have MIH61R MB that I acquired for free from a friend. Upon testing, CPU cooler fan turns on, a little orange light lights up. But black screen and no post. What could be the reason for this?
    I followed online advice and cleared its CMOS through a jumper. Still no post.
    I am not sure if the MOBO ever worked. So I am unsure if doing these jumpers in the video might help in seeing anything on screen. Would they?
    Please note that fans work immediately as soon as I plug power cord to PSU. No presses but when I do jumper for the 5 pins (up near the memory) i can see that keeping the last two on the right shortened makes the mobo reboot (but without post) . Shorting them will power up the mobo but no post too..
    Any advice? thankyou !

    • @DLMtechgarage

      it would be trial and error, but I would try testing the ram. try reseating it or If you have one stick, test it one at a time to rule out. If it still does the same thing the next thing would be to see if it's a video error. are you running a graphics card or the one on the board. If so then run the one on the board. If it's still acting up, disconnect the optical and HDD and try it. Sometimes a bad drive can do that. after all that then next thing would be is to take out the cpu, check the pins see if any pins are bent in the cpu socket or see if the cpu is dirty. Alot to try but doing this would def gear towards what part is causing the issue. Let me know if this helps and how it goes. Thanks for watching and hope you can drop a sub!

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  3 года назад +1

      I have seen this with overheating. Make sure the fans are spinning while running. Such as the cpu fan, psu fan etc.... Usually when a computer is overheating it does this as a preventive. Then check and clean it out for dust build up. I have a video on that so check it out. If that's not it check your power chord to make sure its not pinched or if its loose. Def try those things. if not then it becomes process of elimination such as removing one ram stick at a time and then possibly having a psu. keep me posted and let me know if you have any question and you don't mind subscribing it helps me out! Thanks for watching!

    I have a 9010 sff, but I can't find a straight forward answer as to why I can't case swap and why the adapters don't work with the sff, surely there is a way to complete swap the case and not need the front panel to say attached. • @DLMtechgarage
