I would love to stop buffing the shiny full-cover tips! Thanks, Marla! I’ve been doing press-ons for myself for a few months, and your hints and tips are GOLD!
Oh, SO many questions! These press-ons are a bit different than what I remember from the 80s. How much can these nails take if I glue them down without peel-off base? I'm a woodworker, so at any given time I'm in silicone spray, WD40, super glue when pen-turning, Acetone (when using exotic woods), white vinegar (when removing glue residue), not to mention the wear and tear of intensive use of my hands. Also, I'm an artist/art teacher, so I'm constantly in mostly innocuous fluids and I wear gloves, mostly, but I do work with silicone and oil paints and all the necessary fluids, as well as acrylic resin that I have to clean off of my hands with baby wipes. Of course, I'd never try nails this long in the woodshop or anywhere else because I couldn't type with nails this long. In the shop, they'd get sanded to nubbins. However, I would love to be able to do nail art with my dominant hand rather than training myself to do such with my non-dominant hand. I've been practicing, but it's rather dismal. I don't have a gel allergy, but I do have a latex allergy, so unless I want to paint on 2-3 coats of school glue or use a latex barrier for as little time as possible, when doing nail art because I have a tendency to make a mess, press-ons make sense. Ideas? Education? I'm more than happy to learn a new technique/skill.
I get tired of them, or they get chipped and worn, before they want to come off! I’ve had mixed results with the “hot water soaking method”, so this week, I will just file these down and soak them off safely!!!
I was always a press on girl, but recently got into builder gel and polygel nails, but now I'm panicking about the thought of gell allergies. I'm thinking about doing it your way, where I still use my gel products, but as press ons. I never thought of stacking the tabs. I always used regular glue because my nails are flat and the tabs didn't work. I'll have to the that a try. I LOVE this nail color! 😍
• I really like the swirl technique. It's beautiful. • My nails also hang onto Fastbond! Most nail glues will pop off my nails, not that glue. Even soaking in acetone it has torn up my nails a little. I have to use homemade peel off (white craft glue) under it. Or I can put a coat of dip base and then Fastbond on the outer edges. That stays on well, but I can get it off. • I love so much that you're doing press-ons. ❤️❤️❤️
@@deannacoulter2957 Of I use Fastbond on my entire nail without something under it, even soaking in acetone won't be enough, it will damage the middle of my nail. My nails just won't let go of it.
@@lorriangus oh no! It sounds super strong!! When you mentioned base coat above - was that dip base coat or gel? If gel, I’m guessing you cute first. Is that accurate? Oh! And are these soak off? Is the Elmer’s white glue method a pop off?
@@deannacoulter2957 I'm sorry, I meant dip base, not gel. I corrected it. It is really strong! I absolutely love it! I just have to be careful how I apply it. Not everyone has that issue. Just my *special* nails. 😄 White Craft glue is sort of a home made peel base. I try not to soak off my press-ons, I usually want to wear them again.
The one time I tried the tabs, many (most) were “wiggly” and the press on moved around a bunch on my natural nail. I couldn’t stand the feeling. I could also push on the tip and the back would lift (cuticle side). Would you have any suggestions for how to fix this, or is this normal for press ons?
I use waterproof tabs, and on me they are really secure. They don't lift at all. However, they do stretch a little. If I press straight in on the nail, it will push it into my cuticle, which drives me nuts. I use a tab that's a little smaller than my nail and put some glue around the edges. It stops it from doing that but it's still easy to get off.
@@lorriangus thanks SO much for these suggestions! The cuticle press thing bothers me too. Can you share info about the waterproof tabs? Would you have a link? I had a heck of time getting the tabs off my real nails after I got the nails off.
I don’t do press on’s myself, but I’m so glad you teach all the things, if that ever changes in the future, I know right where to go to learn all the things!
How do you remove the sticky stuff from the adhesive tabs from your nails and from the bottom of the press on nails? If you want to reuse the nails, can you wipe with acetone or that ruin the nail?
Super easy. Just use a cuticle tool to remove the tab from the press on. From your nails, I run my hands under warm water for a few min and roll it right off! Zero damage!
Soooooo,,, I'm so happy I found your channel!!! GREAT INFO IN EVERY VIDEO I'VE WATCHED🎉😊! QUESTION: Nail glue... I haven't shopped around for different pricing on Dashing Diva. I know they make quality products. $17.00(on Amazon) for glue isn't a lot when you compare it to salon manicure costs.😳 But, I was a bit shocked at the cost! It should be the size of a tube of toothpaste lolol😂! Anyways...I am a DIYer on a fixed income, so I was wondering if u have any other opinions for good nail glue???? I've heard that GEL formula super glue is "good" and has the same ingredients as Nail gel glue. 🤷🏻♀️🤔 Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and post them for us! I love your personality, humor, honesty,,, and the gorgeous manis!🤗 Keep up the good work!!! Oh🤔while I'm consuming your time😁💅...have you ever done water marbling, or would u be willing to try it and do a tutorial? Thank you so much for your time!😊
Hey love!! I’m so happy you found me too! Welcome to the family! And thank you for your kind words! 🥰 So the nail glue.. you can use gorilla glue gel! They’re all basically the same stuff. PLEASE DONT use gel to adhere press ons!! The gel may not cure completely under the colored extensions and that can cause a gel allergy. I’ll include the link for the gorilla gel glue I use! It’s around $8 amzn.to/3ZnCy30 I haven’t done water marble! 🙈I don’t usually work with regular polish but if I get brave enough, I’ll give it a go!! 🫶🏻
I saw someone mention they use both tabs and glue. She applied the tabs, puts glue on top of the tabs then puts the press on. She stated the tabs act as peelbase but could last longer. What do you think about that option? 😊
Love this!! Thank you for doing this one! I spent too much time researching on whether or not peel base would work before gluing......I did attempt it. I used ManiBoss peel base and dip base which is glue after all and with in hours they all popped off....I would like a little more wear out of them than a couple hours and I don't want to soak in acetone. I like to reuse them. Tabs are a struggle but I do use them....I have to stack a couple of them and still not quite covering the gap. Love the color and the swirl!!
I’ve been using the BTArtBox tabs with great success - they easily last a week or more. When I remove them, the tab releases from the press-on but stays stuck to my nail. It’s a real struggle to get it off! Acetone doesn’t even dissolve it! Any suggestions???
I have had the exact same problem!! It was awful to get the glue off. I tried alcohol, and acetone too. I’ve heard warm soapy water may work. So I’ve found they are wobbly when they are on and a pain to get the glue off my nails at the end! 😢 I really want to like these. Maybe another brand besides BTArtBox would be worth trying. 🤷🏻♀️
Actually not silly at all! I get that question almost daily! I use nail tabs (same as you’d use to apply the press ons to the nails) here are my faves! amzn.to/3smaOzS
