    The "built-in wireless trigger" on the 600D/T3i/Kiss X5 is an optical trigger; it uses the pop-up flash to control external flashes. It will be able to fire the YN460/560, but it will not be able to control their output (no TTL/eTTL/auto mode, manual only with built-in optical slave). It will be able to control the YN565EX in eTTL mode, provided that the remote flash can see the control flash from the camera (the same restriction applies to Canon external speedlites).

    There are hundreds of videos online about this product with excellent reviews. The no refund issue is mainly dependent on where you purchased it from. This item is also sold via Amazon, which you would have no problems getting a refund from.

    @angelisone The PC socket on the flash is an input to to fire the flash itself from the camera.

    I have the canon 70d and it works great with it. To Jon's point I did have to send the first one back after only two days use as it wouldn't fire on or off the camera. But the one I got as a replacement has worked perfect without problems.

    This YN can be triggered manually in S1 or S2 mode by any other flash. I do it with a 350D.
    You need an optical adaptor or compatible camera to do wireless E-TTL though.

  • @MrCheesyCam
    @MrCheesyCam  12 лет назад

    It's not triggered by 'optical' flash. There's is an infrared remote built into the Canon 7D specifically to trigger Canon (or equivalent) Speedlights. Not all cameras have this built in, but the 60D does for sure.

  • @MrCheesyCam
    @MrCheesyCam  12 лет назад

    @angelisone I think you're original question is formatted incorrectly the. Are you trying to trigger another flash by using the PC socket of a YN flash? Yes, you can trigger a flash from the camera PC socket, but I don't think you can trigger another flash from the YN socket.

    For the E510, just get a Vivitar 285HV or go with the Nissin Di622 Mark II.
    Pop-up your flash & set up the Nissin Di622 Mark II wireless (away) from camera- results are pro flash lighting.

  • @MrCheesyCam

    You should be able to adjust flash compensation and it should detect the focal length of your EF lenses.

    An actual image comparison would be helpful - side by side with the 580ex. Compatability sounds fairly good. But it is in the image! Color temperature, actual field coverage at different zooms. Thanks for a great video.

    @3guys1girlandfetus Yes it can. Max shutter 1/250th. The 7D cannot support HSS through infrared trigger. The YN-565EX does not support HSS anyways.

  • @MRmaterolo

    High speed sync means you can take photos with high shutter speeds (1/500 and above).
    Greetings from Chile!

    @MrCheesyCam Every Nikon flashes that have PC Sync Socket, including Nissin, work when you placed a flash with a pc sync cable to Nikon PC Sync Socket.
    Every cameras that have PC Sync Socket is to be used for tethered flash with a PC Cable.
    Do you have other flashes that have or need PC Cable? Try it-won't flash.
    PC Sync Socket has to work (flash) when you pressed the shutter button, if not then you can never hook-up tethered studio shooting.

  • @brossfotografie
    @brossfotografie 13 лет назад

    a big disadvantage of this flash is, that it does not support high speed sync HSS !
    For all who are thinking about buying this flash should now this. A 430ExII is not much more expensiv, it's from canon , has HSS and works abolutely fine with Canon equipment. If you are looking for a Strobist flash and manual settings, there are cheaper ones avaiable.

  • @McLee

    of course if you broke it with your careless handling, you cannot get refund, any products with users fault when it is broken, you can't get refund...
    but as my experience with Yongnuo flash, it is very strong, i just dropped it so many times for 2years(seriously dropped with swing power) and it still works well... only the problem is when there's any problem there's no repair provided...

  • @MrCheesyCam
    @MrCheesyCam  13 лет назад

    @abieclee The 600D / T3i should have a wireless trigger and should work to trigger this type of flash.

  • @AusNav09

    You would use the camera's built in flash to trigger it optically. So you don't need a trigger.

    I wanted a good strobe that had High Speed sync and would also be compatible with all the in-camera flash menus. I'm looking at the 430EX II right now.
    Without having to take out a bank loan......lol

  • @RellyOhBoy
    @RellyOhBoy 12 лет назад

    I little bit of everything. I'm just getting deep into flash photography but it would be nice to crank the shutter speed up high to kill the sunlight if i needed to, 1/250th of a sec may not be fast enough.
    It still looks like a descent strobe tho.

  • @dibongsus
    @dibongsus 11 лет назад

    Hi Kerri , what are your camera settings.... try using these settings Manual Mode 200 (Shutter)...and try take the pic again.... the max sync speed for the flash to work is 200 - 250 depending on the camera and flash ....

  • @RellyOhBoy
    @RellyOhBoy 12 лет назад

    I was thinking of getting one but after all of the bad reviews about the 50/50 hit or miss rate as far as quality control I'd rather throw the extra 100 bucks and get a 430EX II.

    When using the focus point during a dark situation the laser bean built in the the speedlight beams out and points to the subject, just like the focus point, in order to get a correct focus shoot. Which I understand.
    Now when I'm using the wireless trigger during dark situation the laser bean built in the speedlight beams out not toward the subject only the focus point. I still do get a correct focus shot but want to know why it does that when using wireless triggers.

    The question was about firing the YN from another flash, this is not possible.
    To be very clear, it's not the flash that triggers the YN. You cannot trigger the YN with another 'flash'. What is inside of a 7D and 60D is an infrared master trigger built into the camera. A simple flash will not fire the YN.

    Could you try metering in program mode to see if it works correct. Then try in AV to see if it meters the same. I am getting poor metering in program and auto modes. It gives values that overexpose. But it works fine in AV and TV modes. This is on a 650D.

    Isn't there a slave mode like on te YN460? some photo diode that trigers when it "sees" another flash ??

    I found an interesting video demonstration of the Yongnuo 565 being triggered by Canon and Nikon cameras yongnuo com cn / usermanual / downloadVideos_en.htm Pretty impressive that it can respond to both camera brands so you could potentially borrow/share extra slave units with friends regardless of their camera brand. I'm not sure if the one in the videos is Canon or Nikon for the mount.

    Well, you should know that it's not all that hard to kill the sun at 1/250, given the proper aperture. This flash has enough power to beat the sun by a couple stops at 1/250.
    What flash are you thinking about buying?
