Great review Phil. I have a couple of these triggers and absolutely love them. They are so cheap, yet reliable and they focus assist means it stays on my camera even when i am not using a flash. I also used the pass through hot shoe for RF602 trigger using a studio strobe and flashgun in a shoot to get the effect i wanted - easy and effective.

I have both systems which I use with my 6D. I like to control my lights from the camera menus and find that the 622 C II was simply a blessing. I love them. I find the Phottix to be very complicated at times; as a matter of fact it now sits in my bag as a backup set of triggers.

There are lots of doubtful reviews of photo equipment on You-tube and other sites. This tutorial/review is a remarkable exception. It's well researched, totally unbiased (as far as I can tell anyway), clearly delivered and thankfully free of all the "ummms and errrrs" that characterise so much of Phil's competition. Very, very useful and thanks.

This was very helpful! I just got off the phone with Canon Support and they recommended that I do not mix any 3rd party products with my Canon Rebel. They discouraged me from trying a Yongnuo transmitter/receiver on my canon with the Yongnuo flash. I get it..they want loyal customers, but I had already bought a Yongnuo flash and I don't have the budget for an expensive flash. I'll go ahead and purchase this and try it out! Thanks again Phil and happy new year.

A very helpful review, thank you. I have recently purchased a 568ex ii (with the intent of purchasing others) and need a trigger system for it. I also have a few 560ex iii's and I thought I would need to purchase a number of 622's for these also, but your idea of piggy backing the manual (602/603) trigger on top of the 622 is an excellent way to get around the issue of those manual flashes (560ex iii's). Keep up the good work.

This is the best video I have seen explaining the Yongnuo YN-622C.
    Just one question.
With having the YN-622C physically on the Canon, Do you have to have anything attached to the base of a EX568 ii? Or will the flashes themselves pick up the signal and flash when you take a shot?
I have a Canon 7D and have been looking at the EX568 ii with great interest.
Thanks again for a great video.

thanks so much Phil. they look more ideal than the 603's as will work with manual and TTL flashes - am I right? .. Will this work with the Canon 430EXII, the YN560III? and 600EXRT? I'm still new to this and learning. I just bought the YN560 as I wanted an extra strobe I can keep inlace and can't just tidy another 600 for that. I need a studio set up with this and perhaps the 430EXII. which I want to stay in situ so needed a cheap alternative for studio flash using either a canon 6d or canon 5d3? I can't afford the Odin. I just want the simplest set up with two strobes. Can you advise . thanks

Thanks Phil, great video! Do you know if these are compatible with the Canon 7D and the Canon 430 EX (NOT II). I think the 7D won't be a problem as it has full wireless flash functionality but I'm concerned about my 2 x 430 EX's and whether or not I'll be able to control these flashes through the YN622C RF wireless system. Thanks again, I'll check out your portrait lighting website.

Hi Phil. I love your videos. I wish you much success. I was looking for an 'mid-range" wireless trigger solution, and it looks like the 622C might fit the bill. Wanted something that was not high-end (Photixx Odin or Mini TT-1/Flex TT-5), nor at the very low end. I'm only using one Speedlight off-camera (Canon). I was wondering if you have seen this other new trigger from Photixx that seems to be in the midrange like the 622C? It's the Photixx Strato TTL just announced in Oct 2013. It cost a little more than the 622C, but it's still not $300 or $400. Do you think the Strato TTL is a good option to consider against the 622C? Thank you.

I think you may have answered my question, and a great review. I have a T2i, my rf-602 set will not trigger in live view b/c of rear curtain being used from what I read. So if I take a self portrait and use EOS Utility on laptop to view the LCD, I can see what I shoot, but flashes won't flash. I'm hoping the YN-622C will fix this issue for me, as the T3i has a built in silent mode disable for this issue and the T2i doesn't. Good review, I may try out a pair and piggyback like you did

Thanks for the review. I'm most definitely buying a pair of these!
I've seen some other reviews (about Nikon version since I'm a Nikon person) and it seems that if you put a speedlight with a master feature you can change each flash settings from the master on camera. Just like the Odin you have in your review. Maybe that also works for Canon?

    1) Does the manual trigger mounted on the 622c fire correctly with the shutter sync, or does it fire before the shutter flash because of TTL pre-flashes?
    2) Can you just use a 622C transmitter and a manual trigger mounted on it to fire a bank of sync only receivers without any TTL flash in the system anywhere? Or do you also need a 622C receiver and a TTL flash in the system too?
