  • Just got my hands on the new YN622C wireless flash triggers, and testing them out. I could've made this video 10 minutes long but figured it would get boring.
    So far so good, I'm happy with these, but they aren't currently working with my 1d mark IV. I'm talking with yongnuo on a fix for these currently so i'll keep you updated.
    ps ; check out www.bluemartiniphotography.com if you get a min, thanks!

    Just wanted to thank you. It is this very review that made me order them a couple of days after it was uploaded. Received them, checked them, worked with them and luckily enough I found someone to sell my knights. Thanks again.

    Yes, you can change it. I don't have my 7D next to me right now, but it should be C.Fn IV -2 -1. Dial direction during Tv/Av. Changing this setting affects manual mode as well. The Nikons also have this feature

  • @btmlinedan
    @btmlinedan 11 лет назад

    the exposure comp will still work from the camera for any camera with ETTL possibility. just the manual control ( 1/1, 1/4, 1/16 etc ) will only work on the EXII models, the yn565, and the yn568.

  • @btmlinedan

    you can adjust which channel in the 'external speedlight control' menu on the camera, and they should match up. You can set different groups in the same channel ( to individually control each speedlight power ) but they all need to be on the same channel to fire with one camera. This is useful at a wedding when two photographers are using two different speedlights each.

    in the first segment i've got a 580ex2 and a 580ex 1 on the flashes. These both allow HSS and ETTL. the 580ex1 does not allow manual flash control from the menu system, but the YN565ex does. The cut was switching the rear flash from the 580ex1 to the 565 so I could control manual power. the 2nd cut as going back to the 580ex1 so that I could test HSS. I should've done it only once, but again...just a quick video.

    If you have a flash control menu in the settings, yes. All flashes and transmitters/receivers need to be TTL or the Nikon equivalent, though.

    the original ones didn't work on my 1d mark IV. i could control the power from the camera but when i pressed the shutter it didn't fire. They have since fixed the issues and fixed my units.

    what's very bad? the mix mode you hold down the ch select button for 3 seconds and it puts it in that mode. it's in the instructions as well.

    Thanks, so I will need a pair for one off camera speedlite. If I want to add a second off camera speedlite I have no choice but to buy another pair of YN622C? Leaving me one extra transceiver lying around.

    One question , you buy 2 for 99, but you have 3 , 1 on camara and 1 in each flash, so this is 3 ?
    whats was the 3 one?

  • @btmlinedan
    @btmlinedan 11 лет назад

    you can use ETTL but use ratios or flash exposure compensation just as if you had a flash on camera

  • @btmlinedan
    @btmlinedan 11 лет назад

    you cant run the popup flash or master and a yn622c, but you can use the yn622c's to control the other flashes. You will have to have one on camera for them to communicate. You can also put a flash ON your yn622c ON your camera and control the power of all three flashes together or independently.

  • @btmlinedan
    @btmlinedan 12 лет назад

    if you have a yn622c ON camera, and 1 on each flash, you are correct, you won't need a master as the on camera yn622c serves as the master. You can control the settings of the 430exII from the 'external speedlight control' menu in the camera. Set different flashes in different groups to control power or ratios of each flash.

  • @btmlinedan
    @btmlinedan 12 лет назад

    @Keith ; you can control flash exposure but then you have control of ratio's. So you can add +1 but have the strength being 2:1 on group A over group B. I don't think you can control each group.
    i've got a wedding this weekend I plan on using them at so we'll see how well they fair!

    i'll give it a run tonight, but when i tested JUST the 565 in HSS it wouldn't sync.
    think of the YN622 just as a wireless cable that connects the two devices, so the flash acts as if it was on the camera.

    hi. please help me. i received a yn622c trigger, but i do not own a canon camera. i noticed when i push the Test button on the trigger all three lights at GP SET are flashing together. this is a normal behavior? i tested this trigger alone. l already seen a couple of yn622 trigger but i do not saw this flashing together condition of them. thank you.

    Great videon on the YN622C. I was contemplating acquiring the Pocket Wizard Plu III but it is so much more expensive. I then explored others like Pixel King and Aputure and then I saw your video and was impressed with the ability to change flash settings using the on camera flash menu on the 5D Mk II and the Mk III. I am now the owner of three units of the YN-622C. I have tested them extensively on ETTL and manual and I have yet to be disappointed. Fingers crossed, there will be none.

    Thanks! I'm scared to make the jump to manual. I didn't know you still can do flash compensation in manual. Nice to know. I found a trick recently to reverse the dial to match the meter on the camera when using manual mode. I always get confused and move dial wrong way when trying manual mode. If I can move the dial to match the meter, would much easier. Move dial to the right, meter moves to the right...

    the YN568 is comparable to 430ex2, both don't have the command mode (trigger other flashes) that the 580EX2 has.

    I am kind of a newbie when it comes to triggering flashes. So far before I used manual triggers (not TTL) that required me to control individual flashes manually. Since this s E-TTL flash, can I buy just one trigger and will it trigger the actual flashes working as slaves? or do I need to buy a receiver for each Flash to attach to? I thought Canon flashes (at least 430EXII and 580EXII) had receivers in themseleves to work as slaves?

    the 568's support HSS, but don't have an external battery port, just depends on what you need them for. a different tool for a different job.
    I really like the 560's (all manual) for reception lighting. they are built like tanks, and if they get knocked over I'm not crying on the floor. I use the 568's for portraits as they will do HSS and i can control the power from the camera. . this allows me a bit more control.

    thanks! I was using three transceivers for this yes, I use these every wedding and still am happy with them. The only thing I wish they were a bit beefier. They look sketchy when you have 1 on camera and a 1 flash on the tranceiver winging the camera around it's a little scary, but nothing negative to report as of yet from this.

    Thx again for the review. Some questions:
    1) In Manual mode, does the YN-622c emit any pre-flash? In manual mode, the competitor product, Phottix Odin sends out a pre-flash,and this hinders the correct use of a Sekonic light meter.
    2) Wonder if anyone has tested the YN-622c for full compatibility with the NISSIN Di866 Mk2 flash in both ETTL-II and Manual modes?
    3) Wonder anyone has tested the YN-622c for full compatibility with the new YN-568EX flash in both ETTL-II and Manual modes?

      -the yn565 will do ETTL and control manual power but no High speed sync.
      -the 580ex will do ETTL but you cannot control manual power, but CAN do high speed sync.
      -the 580exII will do ETTL, control manual power, and control HSS.
      -the yn568 will allow ETTL, control manual power, and HSS but no battery pack

    the pixel kings are just fine, they just don't ETTL ratios (which i really wanted) and ETTL pass through. They do have a usb out for future software updates (that the yn622's dont have) and have a dedicated tx and rx. that's the main difference.

    Dan nice review. Can you elaborate on how you use the groups and channels. For me Channel 1 group A or B fires all the flashes. If I have the triggers set to channel 1 group A that mean that group B flashes shouldn't fire. Not sure if that's correct but I'm using a 6D. Thanks

    Thanks Dan. Very instructive video as the possibilities of this product. I have a Canon T4i (650D) and wonder if I could use the same independent manual control or flash ratio control with the YN-622C and 2 off camera flashes. The manual for the T4i says on page 226 "The camera’s master unit function cannot be used for wireless flash shooting with radio transmission". Do you ever tried using these YN-622C with a T4i??? the 580ex and 430ex will work in ETTL mode, and will trigger if they are set to manual power, but YOU CANNOT CONTROL the power of each flash from the camera as shown, you'll need the 580ex II or 430ex II

      anghelov I'm not familiar with the YN622C-TX version, but go into the settings and make sure you select HSS. I'm guessing when you have them attached you can't move the camera below 1/300, is that correct? The YN-560TX is a MANUAL controller for manual flashes only (YN-560 mk 3 & 4 - or 560 mk2 with YN-603 trigger) - you can only change the flash power output and the zoom whereas the YN-622C is a ETTL controller only for ETTL flashes. I would recommend the YN-560 mk 3 or 4 (manual flash) as they both have built in triggers to work with the YN-560TX, or the YN-568 mk2 flash as that has ETTL and works great with the 622. I hope that helped - Robert

    Hey Dan great vid. I just got my YN622c and when I put my 430ex2 on one of them I had to use channel 2 on the flash, but channel 1 on the camera or it would not fire, do you know how to set them up on the same channel? Thanks

    Great demo. Is the ratio settings used saved in the EXIF data of the image file?

    you mean these radio triggers, or a different brand? I've used HSS with these and it functions as it should.

    correct, it's on a 2.4gHz band and shoots very consistent in the sunlight

    Per aver un pieno controllo dei flash in remoto, bisogna usarli in manuale, non TTL :(

    on full power they should sync, but when you use it you will lose a large amount of light. for example 1/200 @ f11 , 1/2000 @ f2.8 to give you an idea.

    How many triggers do you need? 2 or 3?
    How did you get the third unit? Did you just buy two sets?
    thanks

    mm.m...i doubt it. i'd have to test but either way, you still wouldn't be able to control it from the camera which si the main benefit of the yn622c's.
