My fav watch youtuber and my fav watch brand! Love this watch, Citizen makes great affordable solar watches that can last a lifetime. Look at that second hand hitting every marker, titanium, never have to replace battery, accurate, affordable, unique design, japanese made, what else do you want from a watch?! Thanks Evan for another great review, this watch is exactly your style of watch and I hope you'll get one and enjoy it.
Totally agree with all of this except the bit about the second hand hitting the markers each time. Like most quartz watches, they do hit at some or even most places, but they go out of sync at times. I have seen a few of these “in the metal” and that’s how they seem to be. Can’t expect much else at this price and it wouldn’t put me off. I’m maybe going to have to buy this, just don’t expect grand Seiko quartz second hand marker performance out of it. 😊
I really wanted a ploprof but honestly know that I could never justify an 11k price tag for a big goofy diver. This scratches that itch for me at a much lower price point. Thank you for the great video as always!
I’d never wear this watch. Yet, I’ve come close to buying it several times because I love how weird it is. It looks like a gauge from a boat or piece of diving equipment that got retrofitted McGuyver-style with a rubber strap from some nautical gear. Can’t stop staring at photos of this crazy piece! Thanks for making a video that validates my fascination with this watch.
I’ve got the camouflage blue one. Super cool watch, but this one is even cooler! My only issue is with the stock strap. Just can’t get comfortable with it. Picked up a Strap Habit FKM strap and now it’s perfect. And for those worried about the size, it wears and looks much smaller than you’d think. Awesome review of an awesomely weird watch! One more thing… I love the mutes sound of the 60 click bezel and the feel of the case. It’s like rubbing a super smooth river stone. Soooooooothing…..
I've been watch-stalking this Citizen for a while now. So glad you did a video on it. So cool looking but wish it had a sapphire crystal. I bought the Promaster Tough ('Ray Mears') last year on a bit of a whim and it quickly became my most worn watch of the year. Poor Omegas hardly got a look in! Eco-Drive + Titanium is just so good. Great video as always.
hands down, the best watch review i've seen, of any watch. just found your channel and i'm subscribing because, well, i like your snob-free style and sense of humor. and i really like this watch - i'm the type of person who could wear this thing daily.
Ok.. here we go... Love your ways dude, highlights.. missing out in joy, sitting on your Waitlist.. and truth to be told this is about effing joy like your yellow dial tag piece. Keep up dude, you're an intelligent writer
BrightBoy! Great review of a nearly perfect night dive watch (the best time for diving is night time)! The best things to see, in my humble opinion, only come out at night!
I really love this review and your fluid conversational style and how you basically ballpark the specs on this one. This is a fun review of a fun watch.
I think this is the best full lume citizen they’ve released. I really liked the last gen stainless fugu with the full lime but unfortunately for the current model they pvd-ed the case so it’s not as nice imo. I’m keeping an eye on pricing because I know they can be discounted pretty heavily.
I have the full-lume Aqualand JP2007-17W. I had to order it from the EU, since it's not available in the US. It gets my vote, but I'll be damned if every time I see this Citizen I don't wonder if I could use a second lume-dial. Can't go wrong with either one, though. This one is so fun!
I just picked one up while watching this review lol! I've been eyeing them for months and got one for $360 brand new from HK. I've owned a fully-lumed dial from a microbrand and it wasn't consistently applied so I let it go - this one looks really solid.
@dialandhands I agree on the fugu. I have the gilt version of this and am looking to get the full lume version. The titanium weight wears great on my 7.5” wrist, I forget it’s there.
After watching your video I just placed an order for one! I love my Panerai's, Rolex, Cartier Santos etc.. but also love these eco-drive/solar powered power houses that work ALL the time and never need a battery change! This one just looks quirky and awesome! Like that fact that its kinda bulky but Super light. Thank you for spending more of my $$$...although I was able to get a great deal at $401 after a 10% discount off and already discounted $446. Great video!
I have a 30+ year history with Citizen solar watches and really didn't need another, but I picked up the blue dial version (for cheap) and YES! Smitten is a very apropos description of how I feel about it. 😊
Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming. Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming.
I have one of the original 1300M divers, and the reissue. They're beautiful beasts. I wanted the full lume model but its staying stubbornly high in price. Not many full lume solar watches that I can think of.
@@YoureTerrific I have 6 different full lume Citizens, they're all mechanical or quartz. So this watch is one of a kind in that way. Full Translucent Lume Dial. I'd be happy to let you get your hands on the 1300m. I was going to make a video on it one day but my videos lack the colorful backgrounds, music, and uh, any editing at all.
Also, I think, the best way to measure a square/rectangular watch is the diagonal distance. Not horizontal and not vertical but diagonal. Gives you a similar metric as the lug-to-lug of a round watch. The wrist-size joke and the other jokes just keep getting better every week.
I have a different color variation of this watch, and surprisingly, it gets a lot more wrist time than other watches. It’s primarily due to the comfort. It doesn’t go in the same box as my main collection though.
The Ploprof on the wrist is a proud companion to the Citizen. Also, can we hear the sound of the prop/toy - yellow instrument with four holes (guessing it can make some music) - in a video :D It is so YoureTerrific!
To me, this watch represents a concept rather than a thing. I simply refer to it as "The Abyss" personally, partly due to its depth related history, but also because this could easly have been worn in the movie bearing the same name. And I need one! (well two)
This watch is the Mike Tyson of dive watches. I have the same one. It's a great watch, light, good lume, solar no-fuss, and accurate. This watch is killer. Seiko fan boys can sit down.
The bezel looks strange to me. Between the 5 minute markers, you got 4 markings from 11 to 1, 3 markings from 1 to 3 and only two markings on the rest of the bezel.
My suggestion for the nickname would be Beyblade, as that is the first thing that sprung to my mind when I saw it. What can I say, I'm a child of the 90s.
Thank you for this video! I was influenced and bought one just like it, the all lume. Just noticed after getting it that the seconds hand on the 6 oclock is not aligned, is this a qc issue? I saw it on your video as well at the 5:04 mark.
The Lunchbox. It looks like something Hannibal from the A Team would have worn. It also looks like something that would have come with the A Team stamped steel lunchbox in 1983. Good times...
I finally bought the full lume BN0227, a good deal. I like it a lot, I had bought the BN0228, but I definitely like the full lume dial and orange minute hand better. The only issue, the bezel turns very loosely. It is easy that it accidentally turns by putting a jacket on. The BN0228 has a much firmer bezel. I sent it to Citizen, but they said it is normal. It is disappointing, as it makes the timing bezel unreliable.
It’s shorter than my 2005 Santos-dumont, “lug to lug.” I imagine it wears at least as well as an Apple Watch Ultra, which wears shockingly well on my 6.75” wrist.
Thank you for your description and waste of time. Your thoughts are appreciated. Who cares about the name of something. Call it whatever you want to call it. It is the dive watch to have.
I have also seen these offered as the BN0227-17x. I have researched why the serial number is different at the end (not 25x) and I cannot find the answer. They look identical!
I think you’re right. I’m in Malaysia right now and they seem to be called 17x. The first part of the serial number is the same, which AFAIK pertains to the movement etc.
As a 6.25” wrister, I rock my Naval Mine without issue and love it!
Thanks for covering all types / price ranges of watches. Keeps things interesting and really sets you apart from other channels!

Buy it! It’s not that much of a stretch, anyway.
Really appreciate you sharing these weird and wacky watches. Citizen make some great pieces!
My pleasure. Totally agree.
Finaly a review of this beast! Also i have seen some people call this watch "retrozilla"

It's already been nicknamed: The Ashtray! ❤
I dig it. Looks like a squashed squid. However also like a kids watch.
Update:
I want it.
Line of the year: While you are sitting in your ivory tower of waitlists, some of us are having real fun…. ❤
Ok.. here we go... Love your ways dude, highlights.. missing out in joy, sitting on your Waitlist.. and truth to be told this is about effing joy like your yellow dial tag piece. Keep up dude, you're an intelligent writer
Meant KEEP IT UP! Dang diplodocus fingers
Thanks so much
the way the second hand hits the second marker every time! *chef’s kiss*
This version is awesome!
Citizen delivers again, great watch!
BrightBoy! Great review of a nearly perfect night dive watch (the best time for diving is night time)! The best things to see, in my humble opinion, only come out at night!
While I'd proposed some nick names, too, 'Bright Boy' is very good!
Please don’t ever stop making these videos. Best one yet (imho).
I can only imagine the constant nagging of “wrist size?” In the comments of every video thus forcing the dramatic announcement of 7 INCH WRIST lol
Forever now the 'Naval Mine.' Nice play.

Ashtray is an appropriate nickname. Although I‘m a non-smoker, I need one of these😎 Thanks for the video!
Your dry humor is excellent and thoroughly enjoyed!
It looks like a frickn WW2 landmine; I dig it!
This is the Citizen Ashtray, and I mean that as a compliment.
I have a lot of watches but feel a need for this. Nice video.
As much as I love this watch and want one, I would still prefer your PloProf lol 😂
Thanks for a great video🖖
It's a legend like the Tuna is. Built with a purpose back then and not for the quirky look.
Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming. Thank you for another great video mate. I enjoyed every second. Please keep it coming.
Retrozilla! My gilt version is great, so accurate for grab and go. Hilarious as usual you’re terrific.
Great review of a Fabulous watch! Love your sense of humor!😂
Best watch geek strikes again! Awesome watch, awesome video, I think I might keep my eye out for one of those Navel Mines...
Real talk: I love that the second hand hits the markers as some at the same price don’t
I feel like with your love of this full lume dial and the Bell & Ross divers, you need to check out the full lume dial B&R ceramic diver!
Man, I love the way you present this watch that I don't think I like.
Holy smokes the child comment got me rolling!😂. From one Dad to another nice execution.
I had a different color variation of this Citizen. My friends called it "The Ashtrayzilla."
The funniest and best review yet! Got one of these too!
Citizen Companion Cube, Citizen Kryptonite, Citizen Ankle Monitor, Citizen Tuna Buster

I love the animations for the wrist size 😂 the watch is cool!
Citizen should give you a commission cuz I just bought it because of this video.
Actually bought one of these because of this review!
When I saw the thumbnail: wtf what an ugly shitter is he reviewing there
After the video: This is the missing piece I was looking for
I love quartz watches. Not all quartz movements are great just like not all mechanical movements are great. I rock my GS 9F everyday 👍
The Ploprof on the wrist is a proud companion to the Citizen.
Also, can we hear the sound of the prop/toy - yellow instrument with four holes (guessing it can make some music) - in a video :D
It is so YoureTerrific!
Cool watch. Timex "Indiglo" dials give this same effect. Not really lume exactly, but backlit in a way that looks similar.
It does have several nicknames. Retrozilla, Sea Turtle, Ashtray probably being the most popular. Love this watch.
Definitely Sea Turtle with those 4 stubby legs.
To me, this watch represents a concept rather than a thing. I simply refer to it as "The Abyss" personally, partly due to its depth related history, but also because this could easly have been worn in the movie bearing the same name.

Land mine, naval mine... it definitely looks like a mine.
I've heard it called the "tortoise". If you imagine the crown as the head, then the corner "lugs" look like the legs/fins of a tortoise
Oooh, I think I really, really need that watch - how weirs and wonderful and … just cool. Love it.
Citizens are great. Probably my next purchase this year would be one 👀
I own and love a bunch of mechanical watches, but somehow my daily is now a quartz Citizen…
Looks like a Tortoise! Crown is the tortoises head and the case protrusions are its legs!
The Citizen Tortoise. Turn it side-ways, and the crown becomes its head. It’s more “turtle” than the Seiko Turtle.
It's super cool. Kind of has a Marathon Vibe to it.
The bezel looks strange to me. Between the 5 minute markers, you got 4 markings from 11 to 1, 3 markings from 1 to 3 and only two markings on the rest of the bezel.
The Citizen Bricktop
Two questions:
1. What size is your wrist?
2. How is that Santos Medium treating you?
I really like this watch! If I had one I would name it "Sea Goblin" 👺
Just ordered one of these can't wait for a full lume dial

My odd ball is the seiko Arnold. Tuna style digi analogue diver. Makes me say “get to da chopper”
The Lunchbox. It looks like something Hannibal from the A Team would have worn. It also looks like something that would have come with the A Team stamped steel lunchbox in 1983. Good times...
Not my style, due to the Christmas tree look, but kudos to Citizen for trying something different.
I like this watch way more now. The stock photos don't really do it justice.

24mm lug width and with that style case would almost certainly look good with Bell and Ross straps
Very cool watch and great video as always
Name submission! Citizen "Bright Turtle"🐢
We should call this the Batman just look at the 12 o’clock loooks like a bat spreading its wings
It’s shorter than my 2005 Santos-dumont, “lug to lug.” I imagine it wears at least as well as an Apple Watch Ultra, which wears shockingly well on my 6.75” wrist.
The gilt version of this is like $250 on Amazon. Run, don’t walk.
I think that it’s a funny beast and also Citizen is too much underestimated!
How did they manage to marry a full lume dial with eco drive solar panel? Surely that's antagonistic technology?
Great review, I'm sold. Is the buckle 20 or 22mm ? Thanks
I think you're vibrant but you're also now neo vintage welcome to the club 😂
"reminds us we have more disposable income than others" I despise you.
Tremaster Mirabilis Verrill is a bioluminescent starfish. It could be called the Tremaster.
