Great info, and great to see the comparison! There are tons of people out there sharing how they use lasers. While I still do my own thing, having the extra knowledge helps me improve my process, or may just help reinforce that my process is better for me and someone else might have something that works better for them. Group knowledge and sharing is awesome, the laser community wasn't anywhere near this open even just a year or two ago, it's come so far! The channels you mentioned are awesome, LA hobby guy is great for diode content (the machine I started with too) and I also learned an absolute TON from Laser Everything channel too, when I upgraded to a Co2 gantry + Galvo fiber laser. TONS of guides. Again, thanks for sharing Matt, the added perspective and comparison (and why they are both awesome in their own way) was great to see. Happy weekend everyone :)
You mentioned a problem with listing the "Lego". Is there a way to know what things are copywrited and enforced? What if I draw something myself like a comic book character? Would I get in trouble from Marvel?
I’ve been looking at Lazer equipment for some time and comparing. I even went to Epilogs’s office to look at the product. I don’t have room yet for the equipment. I like the dual operating units of Epilog. But I haven’t researched the market well enough to justify the cost of a unit. I’m concerned that the market is starting to be saturated with everyone getting lasers. But, that could be like home gym equipment too. Are they going to do anything with it? I’ve looked at AP Lazers too recently. They set you up with a turnkey operation. You did a really great job explaining the pros and cons. Thanks.
My wife is learning our x-tool 20w. She's made a lot of items and sold a few to friends and a couple through her website. Hopefully we will see decent sales at the craft shows this year. Now I need to find the time to use it myself and get our etsy store listing up. Thanks for that little kick in butt today. I needed it.
Matt Absolutely rite about Thunder Lasers and making your money back and support always a Quick response. with more people like us willing to help each other the time is now to invest in the business. As far as ETSY I'm still struggling getting consistent volume. most of ours is all local!!! great video Matt :)
Lightburn seems to be the de facto software to use across the board for 95% of the lasers out there so it's a very good thing tho learn. So glad I learned it! Besides Thunder I'd also look at Aeon. Based in Florida and also amazing customer service and support. I ended up putting my deposit down this week on an Aeon. Upwards I go!
Hey Matt, We are looking at a Thunder, they have a Canadian based outlet as well. We are looking at the 60W unit simply because we can get it in our basement. We would LOVE the 100W, but we don't think it will fit down the stairs. AND it's heavy. As far as getting off our butts.......we are trying to get more sales......but we aren't that computer sales savy. Facebook page and market place don't do to bad.....our website just doesn't seem to do very well for some reason......BUT we are still working on that. My wife does the laser work, and I do the sign blanks and other woodworking items. Glad it's working out for you.
I got one and I'm making things lol. Could you give any info on how you manage your Etsy store as far as ads and getting the most out of Etsy and traffic?
I have a similar T-shirt. But it says I have 2 daughters. My girls got it for me for Christmas a couple years ago. Mine are now 19 and 16. They grow up way too fast!
@@laserengravingwithmatt my 19 year old has a 7 month old and it doesn’t seem that long ago that he was born. 🕰 =🏎 There will always be another project, but our time with our kids is limited. Make sure to treasure time with yours every chance you get.
your right, my side business is not going to build its self. I made a deal with my sister that we both have to post at least 1 new thing to our own etsy's every week or the one that does not owes the other $5 and because of that im now (after almost 10 years of owning 3d printers) trying to learn a cad program instead of just using tinkercad to 3d model something you said in a video a couple weeks back started that deal with my sister and I :)
I'm not lazy "sniff" But I don't have Thunder either. I'd get one but I don't have a forklift to get it into my shop! Good info there, brother. Thanks for the all the tips!
Hello Matt, I am new to the laser stuff and was wondering what your thoughts on eyewear? Like do you look at the lasers when they are running? Have you had any issues with that at all or feel they are safe with just glasses on? Sorry I am a new sub and havent had time to watch all your videos yet.
@@laserengravingwithmatt Thank you for the reply, the reason I ask is I got the xtool d1 pro and was wondering if the glasses are ok or do I need a vinyl cover with enclosure? Testing the 40watt one.
Awesome video. Yes lahobbyguy is very good to watch he’s easy to understand , direct & goes slow enough to fallow. Lightburn is what I use. It has a cut library to save all you cut setting lahobby guy explains how to use it. I personally have an APlazer 2816 & I love it 👍🏻I enjoy watching your channel
Love the content, new follower and looking to take the leap into the laser business with no experience 😅 Do you have any thoughts about Full Spectrum Laser or AP Laser? It’s a little scary, but I feel like go big or go home 😂
I have never owned a Thunder but I do own a Epilog so I can only speak onesided but my 15 plus year o;d Epilog has only had need for 2 items the reusable tube had to be refilled, As I understand no one will refill the glass because of the shabby tubes. The other item was the lens just got dirty one time to long. Okay that waas my fault for not cleaning. I see not buying expensive parts as a financial gain. Also Epilog has the parts in Denver not China. As far as your review some actually demos of the machines working.
not being critical I’m just curious. I took a look at your Etsy store. You only have nine items listed and you’ve only sold 60 product since your stores been opened. So I’m assuming Etsy is not very profitable for you?
Oh no it’s is very profitable. We don’t show our big shop because when we do the algorithm pushes us to the bottom because people are looking and not buying so when you have 1000 people looking at your shop every day Etsy thinks there’s something wrong with it and pushes it to the bottom so we don’t advertise on RUclips our shop. Sorry.
Oh, I see. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the response. We started an Etsy store and not sure if it can overcome the sheer numbers of stores and products.

Do you have a video about your ventilation system and the compressor you use? : )
Yup it’s all in my shop build.

Write your goals & get out there and do something !! ❤ YES !!
I’ve been thinking about getting an Omtech mf 55w co2 laser. From ur experience would u say that omtech a good choice?
I have heard that they are not bad just might need to tinker a little more than others.

Give it time and also make sure you make something new every week.
Thunder has a settings sheet for all wattages … i think its in the resource section of thunder. I use it for aeon settings and it really helps.
Thanks
@@laserengravingwithmatt yes it is in Resource section, its exactly like Epilogues only not in book form, its all electronic...

Congrats 🎉. Give it time it will grow if you keep making stuff to sell.
I have the Epilog Fusion Pro. Really nice machine. But the Thunder is the next best one.
What is the wattage on your Thunder laser?
100watt
Do you use Epilog Job Manager Software? They have all the starter speeds and feeds listed in there as well.
Just started. Because I got a new computer, my old computer I couldn’t use it.
I got one and I'm making things lol. Could you give any info on how you manage your Etsy store as far as ads and getting the most out of Etsy and traffic?
