    My late father used to say, "a fair price is one where both sides walk away thinking they could have done better". I get annoyed with "clown" sellers who waste my time, but the cheaper the price, usually cheaper the person (i've been surprised sometimes to pick up something that could have sold for more if the seller had just taken the time to clean it, but hey, they're saving me cash, so...) or they just lack organization to help make the sale go smoother. I've witnessed the "don't ask if it's still available, will ignore" statement in FBM ads and would love to point out how many times I've answered an ad and heard nothing...can only guess someone forgot how many ads they put up and didn't cancel.
    sadly, the nature of this business is tire-kickers. and there are sellers who watch reality TV or the auctions and think their item is worth a lot more than it is. It makes the good sellers and good deals even sweeter. But a video like this is needed from all channels, just to explain to folks who aren't experts in buying and selling how they can make the process easier for both sides. so thanks for that.

    The "is this available" auto generated message is the single most annoying thing I've dealt with in the last decade of selling cars and parts! I agree with just about everything you touched on in this video and I really hope you did reach some people with it! As someone that does a lot of selling on Facebook this really hit close to home for me.

      as a buyer, I can tell you it's equally fustrating to ask about an older ad and get zero response...apparently a seller forgot how many ads they put up and didn't delete or, they just don't want to get paid. or something. i'm waiting right now on a guy who seemed interested in selling his uni-meter multi carb adjuster, then went radio silent.
      but i do think they should get rid of auto response. I'm up front in my initial contact--i repeat what the price is of the item i'm interested in, in case they forgot they cut the price down, i let them know how many hours i live from the destination given to me by FB (and still get "can you be here in 15 minutes?" as a response), and what would be a good time or day to show up, and that i'll need a street address. you can't believe the amount of sellers i then have to repeat all that information for.
      no wonder this country can't communicate, they have a listening problem :) but every time i get a good seller, it makes up for the flake-o's. Especially the ones who meet me at their garage and end up selling me 2 other items at a "get it now" price because their goal is to clear things out.

    It's good you approached it from both sides as buyer and seller. I think the thought process needs to be that nothing is going to be served to either party on a silver platter. You're not going to easily sell a car with minimal effort in listing it and likewise in buying. Due diligence is involved. I just sold my 99 Tahoe 2 door and a 93 Cobra. It took EFFORT in listing to sell them. You receive exactly what you put in. Little effort gets little return in both buying and selling. There's a give and take on both sides of that coin that have to happen.

    I bought an 86GT almost a year ago now. It was completely gutted, but everything was there. It was sanded to bare metal and primed. The owners father was a retired bodyman and he had done all the work up to that point. Any rust that was in the car had been removed and repaired. He did a beautiful job and the car was very close to being ready for paint when they lost interest. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive from the city so I think that was the only reason it hadn’t sold. I’m glad I took the drive because I bought it and I’m in the process of finally getting it ready for paint this month. It’s a big project but I’m going to end up with a very nice car when it’s done. A diamond in the rough for the right buyer.

    I'm absolutely done with selling stuff anymore. I still have one Fox for sale that gets nothing but trolls with nothing productive. The last Fox I sold two years ago wasn't much better unfortunately. It seems everyone feels the need to share their opinion with the masses, when it doesn't do anything positive in the end. You're 100% on point with the topic. I'm debating throwing half my garage of parts in the garbage just to be done with people and the whole selling BS.
    Love the big shop in the background.

    I've looked at cars/trucks on the marketplace. But for me when I've actually bought something it's been off of e-bay. And the last car I bought the seller wanted me to buy it so much that he paid for the shipping and I didn't have to pay for it.

    My thing is the ridiculous prices. A nice fox could always be had for around 4k, I know it isn't 99 anymore but still, more so the way it happened. Fox prices were reasonable then Dennis Collins sold his collection of mint condition low mile specialty cars and literally the next day every idiot with a clapped out 88GT thought they had a 10k car. "If his went for 60 mine should be worth 10" gtfoh with that bullshit. I see Foxes everyday that clearly should be in the 4's or low 5's going for 10 or 12. I can understand cars such as yours that warrant a premium price but everybody with a Fox nowadays think they're sitting on gold and it's just not the case.

    There can be a silver lining to some troll posts. I've seen a few where people who knew the car from various ways called attention to some real B.S going on. If a car stands up to scrutiny....it stands up. Theres just as many idiot sellers as there are idiot buyers, it's statistically plausible.

  • @CoastalAutoReactionCAR
    @CoastalAutoReactionCAR 5 месяцев назад

    Well said I do believe that these cars have become overpriced that being said some are worth big money i.e. that super low mile red notch back but not every Mustang is! Now the problem is people don’t know the difference you have every person that has a fox body trying to sell their car for crazy money!
    Due to the few and I mean few that are actually worth big dollars (not every fox body is special or rare)
    Most of them have had their ass handed to them since day one. I think that’s where the problem lies. I have no problem at all with super low mile collector cars going for good money or something like a. DECH - Saleen - Cobra R getting a good dollar the problem is people don’t know the difference between a 89 LX with 190,000 km on it that needs brakes and one of those long story short.
    Some of them are worth big money. Most are not the problem is people don’t know the difference, unfortunately when someone like yourself, who is a curator of these cars and an excellent caretaker for them, sells cars for large amounts(which they are worth) It has the unfortunate side effect of driving the market up.
    You also have to remember that people that make negative comments and spew hate are doing one of two things confessing or projecting .
    A lot of things just don’t make sense like how your channel doesn’t have 1 million subscribers but some idiot destroying trucks does ?
    Very well-made video, my friend thoroughly enjoyed the channel found you via the gearhead 704 channel . Cheers
    ( Also I got to say bring a trailer sucks. I’ve tried it it’s painful and they don’t know enough about cars. The fact that their website is called bring a trailer yet you can’t post anything that you need to bring a trailer for lol that’s just my personal opinion, though I’m jaded.)

      @inspectadrift8478 7 месяцев назад

      Does the title say Police car in the brand section? My 87 FHP coupe had it written on the old brown Florida title. If the tag on the core support says it is then most likely it is in fact what you have. Does the dashboard and center console have holes from the patrol gear? Does it have the blue silicone radiator hoses? It should also have the Lx 10 hole wheels and 2.73 gears in the rear. Cluster should say certified calibration as well. You could also run the VIN on carfax or autocheck and that will certainly tell you if it was a police car or not.

However as we all know the people that send that message are usually not serious 99% of the time anyway. I do respond to every inquiry though and have actually sold to many people that sent the generic message. Lots of whom English was not their first language and can't really write very well so they use the FB message. Also older people who are not well experienced with social media tend to use it as well. Oh man I could write a book on this subject lmao.
