Me and my dad did something like it but we didn’t do anything super crazy with the motor besides stripping it down to the block and boring it out 6 over and we put a cam 302 in it so it chops now and sounds amazing. The car has so much torque in 1st gear that it wants to jump 😂. The car is amazing we still haven’t tuned the engine and I can’t even imagine what kind of horsepower it has now!
As a fan of these cars, don't mess it up guys, just make it faster refresh paint and interior wheels and that's it, you don't have to put alot of carbon or wide body kit! Keep it simple, but hey I have hope for you to make it better, so I will definitely going to follow this series!
@@rosspayne88I completely agree. There are so many clean examples that have been modified just a bit they could have gotten. There can't be many out there like this. It's a piece of history that should be left intact.
@@andrewsargent3874it's nothing but a fox 5.0. hell, we have 4 in the yard and two are very low mile examples. The Svo is the lowest mile one we have and is almost completely stock but still looks as it did in 1986. Minus a killer stereo and turbo upgrade. Stock turbos were really tiny
Oh man! The collab we needed and the car we didn’t know we deserved! Really excited for the fox body! Big fan of those and that’s a beautiful example. Excited to see what you guys got for it!
seeing you guys mod cars that you have an emotional attachment to are great -- quinn's reaction in the car and mickey's rundown in the cockpit made me appreciate this video more. keep it up throtl!
Exactly.. To be really honest that car looks perfectly fine to me as it is original really hard to find one today in such good preservation condition inside-out and with all accessories & papers even the dealer window stiker..? damn ! if they will slam 'it to the ground they will totally ruin it, btw i'm European..
I opened RUclips and my heart just dropped, my grandfather was gifted a 1985 ford mustang that looked just like this. He unfortunately was unable to enjoy it much because he passed away in 1985 during the earthquake in Mexico, a building collapsed while he was parking in the underneath parking garage. I have been looking for one to fix up and give it to my mother as a gift, But it is really hard to find one that I can afford.I was literally on Facebook marketplace last night looking for one. I’m excited to see this build
I had an ‘89 GT that was black with red interior and it was an absolute blast. Granted back in the early 00’s the aftermarket support wasn’t near what it is now. But nonetheless, great cars! Almost a shame to tear into this unmolested car but I’m sure the end results will be great as usual Fun fact the 5.0 from this era was actually just shy of being a true 302. It was more like a 301. But Ford bumped the liter number to keep the 5.0
You're thinking of the liter designation. The engine displaces 301.6 cubic inches (rounds to 302...), but only 4.94 liters. So it's technically a 4.9 liter. Many magazines back in the day loved to call it a 4.9L in their tests. Ford called it a 5.0 to separate it from the 300 straight 6 which was also referred to by Ford as their 4.9L engine.
Absolutely love this color combo. That plaid tweed was the best in red. Wish I could find one like that. ‘89 was the year I graduated high school, so this year Mustang holds a special place with me.
I had 2 foxbodies. A 91 triple white vert gt then traded that one in for 93 black gt. Back in the day when someone asked what you drive we said five point oh and everyone knew exactly which muSTANg we were referring to. My 93 had full suspension, full exhaust, 3:55’s , short throw shifter and cold air intake that car was super fun to drive.
So siiiiiick!!!! Crazy I’m seeing this cuz I just pulled the cover off my dads super rare mint 93 mustang cobra, teal blue, black interior and sunroof yesterday. He’s been hiding it under a carport for like 10 years now untouched covered. Was afraid the rats got to it but luckily not a single thing wrong. Waiting for the better weather (tomorrow) to drain the old gas and get it ready to run again.
Don’t change those seats!! So perfect and they look super comfortable lol. I vividly remember my friends fox-body in high school when we discovered you could not load a cd into the player if the shifter was in any forward position 😂
My dad has a 1992 ford mustang GT fastback convertible. It originally was white with the red pin striping just like this one. It has the stock silver 5 spoke rims. We re did the interior and changed it to grey and black. We also changed the color to a navy blue. We upgraded the motor and it has a cam 302 in it now. This is amazing still seeing these cars making a comeback! So excited to watch someone upgrade one of these!
As the owner of a white fox myself, hyped for you guys to build her up and enjoy the old school 5.0 goodness 🤍.... White wheels go hard with the white body 🤘
Man the Fox is the new retro car to build it seems.. That thing is showroom mint. Everyones doing a fox these days.. Then again you have so many options just like when it was the 90s.. You want pushrod live axle, you got it.. You want bolt in IRS and Twin Cam you got it.. So hard to find a clean un clapped out one these days just like E36s.. most are ruined or unattainable, cant wait to see this done.
Looks and sounds so sick guys , condition is amazing and you can tell that was the previous owners pride and joy, go gentle on her , don’t mod too much it’s mint ! 💪❤️😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
My favorite era of Mustang ever. I have a 1982 LX that my uncle bought brand new. Still have the window sticker in the glove box. The 87 to 93's were my favorite though
Back in the 80s, I had my 1975 280Z....your car was considered pretty fast if you could beat the Mustangs, IROCs and Corvettes back then! I did shortly thereafter get into the Mustangs and it was an addiction. The holy trinity of cars for me is a Porsche 911, Mustang and a Z (or Skyline). I like Corvettes but never owned one. Who knows maybe one day i'll do drop the hammer and get a vette and see what that's all about.
I've owned four 5.0 and they are under rated one of the funniest car you can buy. I can see the re spray all the red door plastics. This one missing the coolest light ever the map reader
Oh my! So clean almost worth keeping original. Although I can’t wait to see what can be done by Throtl with this one. There are so many options for the Fox body you can choose pretty much any modification direction with bolt on/minor mods. And if you have time and money you can make a work of art.
One of the best upgrades you could do is if you change the shifter, I don’t want they still make it they were called a pro shifter 5.0 shifter I had one on my GT, which was also an 89 but I had two tops
That's the best spec hatch I've ever seen, even when I was a kid there weren't alot of nice ones besides white verts. Now they're all clapped or drag cars. I been searching for months to find a clean notchback to build a blown coyote street car out of, but this is making me think about hatchs some
Man it's going to be cool to see you guys put this together in Jimmys shop! Welcome to the East Coast Throtl! I owned a 91 lx 5.0 notch. Wish I would of kept that car. It's really hard finding these that clean. But hey sounds like you paid the right price! Imagine how much it would be if it was a Saleen or Cobra 😮
Don't change the headunit, just add bluetooth. Should be possible, or add a media receiver somewhere on the car that can be controlled with a phone and upgrade just the speakers. That way the interior still look perfect.
honestly the car is to clean i would not build it, its fine the way it is. It would be nice if you guys found one that actually needed work and you could save...
Wow I’m super excited for this build I was born in Clifton New Jersey in 1971 that car was in my life brand new from Al Packer Ford but ours was convertible can’t wait to see what you do with it❤💯🇵🇷🙏🏽
When I turned 16 my dad bought an 87 GT it was red, hardtop, 5 speed w gray interior. HYPED to have you guys in house this week 👏🖤
“If you can’t find the right tool in Oakes garage, Mr California,…”
LETS GOOO!
i’m excited for this collab.
THAT was the surprise of the week !!
Big ups to you for opening your doors to the boys. This is going to be EPIC.
I personally think it'd be better to find one in rougher shape and go crazy on it.
but they dont have the time for a ultra rough spaped car, but i agree :)
Idk about that one😅😅
Me and my dad did something like it but we didn’t do anything super crazy with the motor besides stripping it down to the block and boring it out 6 over and we put a cam 302 in it so it chops now and sounds amazing. Exactly I can't watch anymore
YES! Keep these cars stock and go crazy and the shit boxes!
As a fan of these cars, don't mess it up guys, just make it faster refresh paint and interior wheels and that's it, you don't have to put alot of carbon or wide body kit! Keep it simple, but hey I have hope for you to make it better, so I will definitely going to follow this series!
That interior is mint.
WA WA WA WA
Dang, that thing is pristine. Almost a shame to modify it but looking forward to seeing what you guys do with it
You know the boys are going to do it justice. It's Mickey and a white Mustang, he has one on his resume already!
Yeah this has got to be the cleanest fox I've seen recently
Yeah it really seems like they could have found a better car to tear apart and modify. This one should've been left alone.
@@rosspayne88I completely agree. There are so many clean examples that have been modified just a bit they could have gotten. There can't be many out there like this. It's a piece of history that should be left intact.

Cleanest stock foxbody I've ever seen!!! The most I would do are wheels and tires but otherwise, I'd keep it stock.
I love the turbine wheels
This thing actually seems too good to be a project car.

Fox bodies have a special place in my heart. I was brought home from the maternity ward in one. Love it!
I love spontaneousness. Spicing things up in the channel. Love to see it!

And the ashtray door still works, this car is pristine.
Crazy looking at the engine bay! It’s so clean and it looks like there’s no oxidation on the intake. I love it!
Let's goooooo! I am stoked for this build! I thought I would never see a foxbody in Jimmy's garage. Thanks guys 😁
I want jimmy oaks subscribers reach up go 1million by the end of the week .

I graduated h/s in 89, always loved that year of Mustang, I personally love those taillights and that interior takes me back in time

One of my top 5 favorite cars. Nice to see one so clean.
Pleasure to meet you Mr. Mickey!! Thank you for stopping by!!
Cool to see you at Jimmies shop, looking forward to the build.
I think that if you leave the rear lights and window as they are know, the car would be cooler.

Foxbody was super underrated for the longest.
One of the cleanest foxes I've seen. I love the late 80/s 90's white with red interior.
The collab we've all been waiting for 🔥

Super hyped for this collab!
Buzzing for the rest of this series!
Dang almost hurts to see it modified but that car is awesome!!!
