So maybe some perspective from my seat as someone who recently installed a manual rack (FR) in my 91 lx vert 5.0. OE rack was shot replacements in my area are all reproductions and you take a gamble with the seals leaking over time in those. For me, it is less maintenance, cleaner in the engine bay, adds clearance, and frees a little weight. This is on a weekend car. Plans to eventually add an EPS module since it’s been done by plenty in the past. Maybe that was the idea here. Just a thought!
Yes all good points. My hang up is the car is a bear to maneuver - even at speed… if it had skinny tires up front it might be slightly easier but even with a 245 it’s not a car I would just throw the keys to anyone…

Would love for you to review my car. 1987 fox coupe. Used to be a 4 cylinder. Now has all new suspension, new blue print 302, new trans. Newer paint. The guy I bought it from spent more than 25k on this car
I answered my own thought about Flowtech. It might be a custom cam from Flow Tech Induction. In that case will be a good cam. I bought a ported Systemax intake from him but it isn’t installed yet.
Looks like pretty solid starting point. The manual rack is a weird mod since it doesn't look like they were going in a hardcore drag race direction with this car. Love those MAC mufflers. You know I'm biased towards those!
the secret back then was the first few years of the Fox had a power steering delete, and you could hunt the junkyards for an OEM manual rack. someone posted someplace that Summit (i think) had a cheaper price on FL manual racks because they'd bought up in bulk.
The car is better than I expected. Not very rusted which is extremely important. An interesting choice of a steering wheel. It looks like a 1984 to 1986 mustang wheel and, while it looked good on the 4 eyes, just seems out of place here.
I miss my 93 hatchback 5.0. A friend of mine has one that hes talked about selling. Recently he told me he's been wanting an SN95 cobra which is what I currently have so I might or might not do a trade. I like my cobra but I do miss the torque of an old school pushrod 5.0.
Out of curiosity, I have a '93 LX 5.0 hatchback, no body damage, 59,000 original miles. All factory, no repaint. No mods except for a/c conversion. What are your thoughts?
The 3 wheeler def got my attention. Appears mint! About that lean on the car...my fox was bought new by my dad and just driven for years. No mods. Anyway... Why he never looked into it I don't know, but since day 1 from the lot new in '90, it's had that same lean to the left....Ive acquired the car and I want it fixed. I remember asking him many times even in my teens what was up with it when it was new!😂 Now I'm in my 40s. What's up with a lean like that from the factory??❓
MAC exhaust was by far the best for a fox. Great video. Maybe I should take my fox for a long drive to meet you! You can do an inspection on mine and see if you consider it an average exhaust.
I wish I purchased the Mac exhaust before they were unavailable. I always thought flowmaster was the best and I do love them but when I hear the macs I regret my decision
Just my 2 cents....it already has a manual rack. Do the electric power steering upgrade! No hoses, no fluids ,cleaner engine compartment and no parasitic power loss. All wins in my opinion. Power steering without the noisy Ford power steering pump. And the rack can remain. No alignment due to replacing the rack as well. Great project car 👍
I have owned my 88 Gt since day one. 102,000 kms. I wanted to get it repainted and add a/c and a few other things. Wicked Garage from Rockland owned by Daniel Scott aka cockroach ripped me off along with 15 other guys. Lost my engine and tranny and everything under the hood. 😢
The average fox in Michigan will have body rot because people drove these in the winter. 🙄 I have Macs on my 94. Flowmaster is alright but everyone has them and I wanted to be different. Plus they sound a bit better
Great video 👍 I do scratch my head at the mods done to some of these, all due respect to the owner who did them. Having read MM&FF from the early 90s to the mid 2000s among many other mags...I always assumed the progression was the 10 minute tune up, then other basics like good frame connectors, rear gears, a good shifter and exhaust. Obviously a person can do whatever they want but I don't think I've ever seen one with stock 3.08 gears, no frame connectors but fancy seats,a cam and Cobra intake swap. Just my humble opinion and thoughts 🤘
i have one of their issues explaining the 20 things not to do to your Fox, while the two front cover cars had 'em (like lowering too much). i agree, a Fox with a manual steering rack isn't really "average" unless it's been gutting for the race track. or maybe it's a "regional" thing.
@alertgasper 🤣Funny that you mentioned 2 mods I have that aren't average... lowered too much and a manual rack. It is just a no interior weekend toy though. You can do whatever you want with these cars, they made millions of them and are worthless on the market unless it's a Saleen or special model like 93 Cobra or some such.
@@danfriesen4417 i agree with you except on the "worthless" point. compared to other Foxbodies (t birds, fairmonts, etc) they'll bring in a pretty penny unless you know where to look (like, for example, a local track where notch mustangs race with the OHC 4 banger. they're stripped down, but for the person who wants a stripped car with a cage looking to LS swap, or who wants a slick looking notch with smoked head-and-tailights and a custom interior, it may be an affordable beginning). but yeah, these things can be either a drag queen or a roundy-race king. that power-to-weight ratio is great, and the suspension design is still useful, even though it was meant for the Fairmont. better than buying an older mustang and trying to ditch the entire rear leaf springs from the era of horse drawn carriages to put in a custom 4 link or IRS. The foxes will take an OEM IRS from cobras or SC thunderbirds without too much fussin' and fabricatin'.
@alertgasper I hear ya, I mean..they are worth more than the other fox platform cars. And the power to weight is nice when you start adding a bit of power. Mine is 2700 lbs no driver and makes the 300 hp feel like 500 in a heavy car. I'll need lighter wheels, aluminum heads and a Tubular K member to get closer to 2500 pounds
@@danfriesen4417 we may never again have 4 wheeled passenger cars that light, with all the push for safety equipment and the customers' desires to have all their techno goodies. the less weight, the less money to spend on braking, handling, and performance. and as you know, the aluminum heads and tube K only help the car. the better a cylinder head flows, the less boost is needed to make a particular power number from the engine, and that can help one run on pump gas so the mustang is cheaper to operate. the K member can shift the wheelbase an inch longer, or can use an even better front suspension design or make space for an engine swap, so they aren't necessary evils but benefits.
What’s the number on your average fox? When I hear average, it’s the majority of the cars for sale. In my area that’s nowhere close to the average fox, it’s leaps and bounds above it.🤙🏼👍🏼
Man most of the average foxes i get my hands on are soo much worse than this, granted im breaking them down, but youd hate to see some of the tom foolery i see that's done to these cars. Absolutely delapitated harnesses and custom mods that really make you say wtf!? But you may want to add a bump steer kit to the parts list, those tie rods were aiming pretty high lol
Man, that car is making me nauseous just thinking about how terrible it drives...I had these cars back in the day when they were new and it's not like they were amazing then, they were cheap and fun but honestly pretty crappy cars overall...most of them have not aged well and look, drive, perform like absolute sht...the only Fox Mustangs I would even consider owning now are super low mile(and at least 90% stock, preferably unmodified) LX 5.0 coupes, a 1989-1993 Saleen, or a 1993 Cobra but even though I can afford the $40k-$50k-$60k and up prices those cars brings they just are seriously not worth it to me. I'd much rather spend that same money and have a 2003-2004 Cobra, a 2002-2004 Saleen, or a 2005-2008 Saleen or a 2011-2012 GT500.

Yessir! Yeah the rack is super odd…? It’s not fun to drive at all. And Mac for the win!!!
the secret back then was the first few years of the Fox had a power steering delete, and you could hunt the junkyards for an OEM manual rack. someone posted someplace that Summit (i think) had a cheaper price on FL manual racks because they'd bought up in bulk.
Rear bushings are probably toast causing that lean. All in all though the car is a great foundation for a build.
Agreed!
That’s way above average for the foxes is my area. Awesome car
No kidding!? Thx buddy
i sold my 2011 v6 camaro to hopefully soon get a foxbody i’ve been looking for awhile i really don’t know what’s good and what’s not
Very nice.
Waaaay above average for way down here in the middle. 👍👍😎
👌👌👌
The car is better than I expected. Not very rusted which is extremely important. An interesting choice of a steering wheel. It looks like a 1984 to 1986 mustang wheel and, while it looked good on the 4 eyes, just seems out of place here.
Great video brother! I honestly enjoyed it 👍🏻💪🏻🦊
Thank you!!
Wow them Mac flow paths sound nice !🦊🔥👍💪
Yeah buddy!
I miss my 93 hatchback 5.0. A friend of mine has one that hes talked about selling. Recently he told me he's been wanting an SN95 cobra which is what I currently have so I might or might not do a trade. I like my cobra but I do miss the torque of an old school pushrod 5.0.
That’s a tough one…
18:00
I was going to comment on that earlier.
Lol
😂🤜🤛
Out of curiosity, I have a '93 LX 5.0 hatchback, no body damage, 59,000 original miles. All factory, no repaint. No mods except for a/c conversion. What are your thoughts?
Id send you a picture, but I don't know how...
Sounds like a great car! Send me an email. Its listed in my "About" page on RUclips
Nice look fox for sure . I have 94/95 GT axle brackets from ford new , just mocked up only , for gt disc . If interested let me know .
Ok sounds good! Thx buddy
Pro chambers were notorious for scraping holes through the bottom on lowered cars. It may have been replaced at some point.
That’s odd for sure! In this cars case, I’m thinking it’s control arm bushings
MAC exhaust was by far the best for a fox. Great video. Maybe I should take my fox for a long drive to meet you! You can do an inspection on mine and see if you consider it an average exhaust.
Anytime 👍
I wish I purchased the Mac exhaust before they were unavailable. I always thought flowmaster was the best and I do love them but when I hear the macs I regret my decision
Me too!
I like the idea
I have owned my 88 Gt since day one. 102,000 kms. I wanted to get it repainted and add a/c and a few other things. Wicked Garage from Rockland owned by Daniel Scott aka cockroach ripped me off along with 15 other guys. Lost my engine and tranny and everything under the hood. 😢
Awesome video
Thx pal!
The average fox in Michigan will have body rot because people drove these in the winter. 🙄 I have Macs on my 94. Flowmaster is alright but everyone has them and I wanted to be different. Plus they sound a bit better
Dude I'm digging the 85 big red 250! Is that yours? I'm looking for another one...😉
It’s super cool! No it’s not, it’s in for a few repairs
Ahh got it👍
🤠👍
Have you ever run the FLOWMASTER SUPER 10's?
No I haven't but always wondered...
@@KASLCustoms I want to try them!
Gary, how do you find the podcast that you and Infamous do?
Hey buddy! If you go on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and search: “Rollin in my 5.0” you will find it 🍻
@@KASLCustoms Thank you sir!
Thank you!!! I hope you enjoy it 🍻
@@KASLCustoms For sure! You guys are my favorites for foxbody content. I’ve been looking for one.
Awesome! Thanks buddy!!
What do you think the lean is from on the fox?
Too many solo chick cruising trips 😉🤣
Got a question I just bought 89 gt fox and the previous owner removed the AC and heat is it difficult to put all back into working order?
No it’s not bad at all 👍
I want that three wheeler!
LOL not for sale 😉
What’s the number on your average fox? When I hear average, it’s the majority of the cars for sale.
In my area that’s nowhere close to the average fox, it’s leaps and bounds above it.🤙🏼👍🏼
This car falls in the $10-15k range. Wow really? Maybe “average” changes depending on where you are…?
Thanks sir!👍🏼that clears up the term average fox😁
Great potential, nice car.
You betcha! Yeah she’s definitely got potential 👌
Garage Queens 💥🔥💥💙💥🔥💥
Does Gearhead704 still have a RUclips channel?
Yup
So what’s the “average fox” worth? 8k cdn?
The best answer I can give you is: “it depends.” I’d say average money is $8-12
Right? Do you brush your hair before or after you put your hat on? Right?
*backwards*
What was the initial purchase price for this average fox?
pretty sure like 8-13K
4.10s!!! Dont fear the gear!!
😂
Bruh this isn’t close to the average foxbody that’s clean af
Man most of the average foxes i get my hands on are soo much worse than this, granted im breaking them down, but youd hate to see some of the tom foolery i see that's done to these cars. Absolutely delapitated harnesses and custom mods that really make you say wtf!? But you may want to add a bump steer kit to the parts list, those tie rods were aiming pretty high lol
Wow no kidding!? Hahaha yup that is definitely on the list 😂👌
LMR CAN HELP 'THANK YOU
Man, that car is making me nauseous just thinking about how terrible it drives...I had these cars back in the day when they were new and it's not like they were amazing then, they were cheap and fun but honestly pretty crappy cars overall...most of them have not aged well and look, drive, perform like absolute sht...the only Fox Mustangs I would even consider owning now are super low mile(and at least 90% stock, preferably unmodified) LX 5.0 coupes, a 1989-1993 Saleen, or a 1993 Cobra but even though I can afford the $40k-$50k-$60k and up prices those cars brings they just are seriously not worth it to me. I'd much rather spend that same money and have a 2003-2004 Cobra, a 2002-2004 Saleen, or a 2005-2008 Saleen or a 2011-2012 GT500.
That fox is well above average in Kentucky.😬
really? interesting...
Mine is below average then! Lol!
😂😂😂👌
My friend…that is not the average fox, it will vary from state to state and definitely country’s …. Ask Infamous about the clapped out garbage we have here for 15 Plus K
All I see are trashed fox’s, or 25k or more for a decent car
Thats what i want to avoid, lll drop up too 30 k on a good one
That's definitely above average condition. Maybe average mods.
Interesting take on it. I guess this theory I’m running with is very subjective 🤷♂️
@@KASLCustoms most of the fox bodies around here are rotted junk.
Ontario Canada is a joke with these foxbodys and prices. Rustangs.
way above average.......20% of FB may be like this........
how much did you pay for this? I'd be willing to match+ and come get it RN.
I don’t understand what are u expecting a new car fox are getting old buddy lol u want new looking car go to dealer.
Average 😂the ones I find are worse than that
😂
Hi .. soo how much did the client buy the car ?
