I have a Flaming River manual rack in mine, I love it. Steers great, great feel, a few extra hp, a good chunk of weight off the nose of the car, shorter belt, no more leaks, no more crappy ps noises, cleans up the look of the engine bay alot....

I really enjoy your channel. The content and delivery are both very good. Its cool to see and do these small evening projects that make a huge difference on how much you can enjoy the car. A 500hp car still feels like junk when you cant get the door open.😂
You are absolutely right about the lady from LMR… we also got the pleasure of talking with Kelly… she really knew what she was talking about and has helped us out several times!!!
Just watched the new video while cruising up to Edmonton! Man I can't believe that you and Chris from TIP are still in the Stone Age times and using hand riveters!! Talk about dangerous to paint like you have mentioned. You certainly need to invest in an air riveter for pulling rivets and nut Certs mechanically. There is maybe 1/5 of a kick back on the air unit in comparison to a hand riveter. The amount of strength required to pull a rivet by hand is a direct reflection the amount of kickback you get from that rivet when it pops, which makes them dangerous. Also, as well as the clamping force with the air unit is roughly 3 times stronger than what you are able to pull by hand. I got this info from Arctic cat when it came to doing warranty work for replacing bent tunnels. They have come down drastically and Price in the last couple years. A good one is less than a couple bills now.
@@KASLCustoms useless little titbit of information here. In the aviation world, upon inspection, which is quite often , any of rivets on any sheet metal of anything that goes in the air will fail every single time. If the exterior panels on a Cessna were not popped with an air riveter, they claim that enough air gets underneath the joining seams that that thing will delaminate all the panels faster than they were applied. That would be pretty scary to have happen at elevation.
I enjoy watching your videos. I have a 1988 5l that was hacked badly. Im going to start digging into it this winter. No hvac box. I found a parts car here in edmonton so that makes it alot easier.
Can always layer that tape too. Put down some blue tape or whatever and then layer with the Duct tape if ya don’t want to put that Duct tape right on the car. Like ya said, Definitely want to have that cushion!!
Yeah, this is so true and I faced the identical issues with my ‘85. I ordered the power steering refresh kit from LMR and I currently have the old one out and will be doing the cleanup and reinstall this weekend. All new pump, high pressure line and rack, along with a filter, tiered ends and soft return hose.
I like your methods and approach. Very careful and professional. I don’t know why people do things wrong that could be easily done right. Good content, keep it coming! Thanks brother
you did exactly what I found to work best on drilling out those door handle rivets. 1st punch the pins inward and now you have the holes to center the drill bit.
Great video and I’ll be watching for the new the series. I highly recommend the Edelmann 6012R power steering pump from RockAuto. I’ve had mine for two years now and it is quiet and very well built. It’s even extremely hard to get the rest our cap off because it’s seals very well. It new not a refurb..
Wow!! That's my car. Freaking doors!! How come you're not installing those trick sve door handles? And those rivets? I don't remember seeing that on lmr video on changing to the new handles. And last but certainly not least, the damn window molding. Holly crap! I got so much of the black adhesive on the car and the old molding that I got that crap everywhere trying to clean it up. Lmr has a back order on that molding, though. Well, I'm looking forward to the rest of the improvements. 😊
lol yeah it’s a common issue for sure. I’m not a huge fan of those new handles personally 🤷♂️. Yes, that “black goo” is nasty stuff. Heavy duty Adhesive remover helps in taking it off
Awesome video Brother! Great advice too!! 💯👊🏾 I am definitely interested in knowing more about what needs to be ordered to put power steering back into a Fox. 👍🏾
Very cool one Gary, no matter what it is, it's very frustrating when you are the one doing the repairs, and have nothing but halfa$$ backyard crap not really fix. It is really cool car, that needed, some good hands put on it, now it's up to you, good luck bud. I would not be immature to mention lubing your shaft, or cranking down on your nuts, would not do that. 😆😆🤣
This will be a great series to watch ! Is the SS piece around the gauges staying or going ? And the steering back to original? Out of curiosity…. I know LMR sells everything, but why not get the stuff from a Canadian supplier, I don’t know if cheaper or not , maybe you already know . Asking for my future purchases.
I find that the suppliers here in canada for the foxbody equipment is expensive/up priced and shipping is extremely overpriced- ordered a few times from "themustangshop" and had some qoutes done, however LMR and the other american suppliers. I find have great warranty/refund processes. even for being out of the country as compared to the one i have used here. i believe the shop is in alberta. im out here in ontario.. hope this helps!
The gauges are staying for the time. From my experience, Many of the Canadian shops just buy from the American suppliers and re sell. I have had great experience with LMR and find their customer service to be top shelf
I use blue painters tape just put like 6 layers comes off easy
If you want to run thicker tape that is that sticky I’d put down a row of painters tape then stick your tape over it so you don’t risk paint damage
Yes that’s good advice as well
