My cats knew before I did. They became extremely cuddly more than I was used to of them.
It could be from a change of scent. Pregnant women emit a different scent and I recently heard from Andrew Huberman that this scent is so strong it causes the father to actually put on mass because the body feels it needs strength more. I assume this same scent is picked up by these cats and other domesticated animals realising their owners are in need of support

@@Euphytos I am not sure if it’s ONLY fat I don’t really think it is possible for somebody to gain just fat in any circumstance. It could be the food that they’re eating is in general filled with fats and causes gain of unhealthy fat or the body considers fat a sort of energy reserve to be used for days when you have low sleep from handling home and work life. Lifestyle factors also come into play you and me we need to go hit the weights hit the bag get in our muscle stimulus but guys couple centuries ago chopped whole trees down with just an axe and then made wood out of those logs as part of their work whereas we have to just sit on a chair and study and work on a notebook or computer

My cat was all over me during pregnancy, always wanted fuss and cuddles, always laying by me… Before pregnancy for 13 years she hated me, she’d attacked me, ran when i entered the room, wouldn’t eat if i was the one to feed her, the only cat i’ve ever met who hated me and was all about me for 9 months, it’s insane how they just know and now my daughter is my cat’s favourite human and the cat now hates my guts still 😂

Many years ago my wife had a brain bleed that almost did her in and in the meantime my youngest daughter was pregnant and had taken a LOA so she moved in to help my wife recover.
We had a beautiful female tuxedo cat that would go to my wife's room to be with her and then get up to find our daughter and check on her and then start the routine over again.
Her concern was so touching and when the baby was born, my daughter still helped with her mom but brought the baby with her and the cat added checking on the baby as part of her routine.
We called her "Nurse Katie", one of the sweetest cats ever.

When my sister was born, our kitty had just had kittens a few weeks before. She kept putting her babies in the crib with my sister.
My mom finally setup a kitty bed underneath the crib and the kitty moved in and watched over my sister. My mom said it blew her away.

Pretty sure this cutie can hear a second heart beat.
They can hear and feel the baby’s heartbeat. My kitty was born 2.5 months before my son. As a young kitten herself she’d curl up next to or on my belly for warmth and comfort once her momma had started to wean her & her brothers. With my 2nd, my daughter who came three years later she did the same thing. She would rarely sleep right next to or on me except when I was pregnant. And my vet confirmed that cats can feel and hear the baby’s heartbeat and the warmth that comes from your pregnancy belly. It’s a comfort mechanism for them.
