You guys are the MVP!! Thanks for making such a well detailed video on this seat install. Universal IS custom, and you fellas gave me the direction I needed for my eBay seat!
That seat has turned out better than I expected... looks good. If you are going to keep doing these types of projects, a TIG welder would be useful... kind of pricey, but the welds are much less messy, with little cleanup/grinding to be done, Actually if you are good at it, you don't need to do any grinding afterwards.
Even without cutting away the taillight frame and tossing the light and rear fender,I think these Amazon/Ebay cafe seats can be made to fit the post 1980 CB250 (Nighthawk). I always wondered. Especially the seat with the hump at the back that would align with the taillight box like the 80s CBX did. This looks cleaner though, like an old Bonneville. My problem is the seat was too low and I wanted to keep the side plastics....so I just built up the stock seat to flat. Added almost 3" (75mm) to the rider height and 1/2" 13mm to the pillion to get a smooth flat. Perfect for me. Cushy too. Too heavy and plush for a racer scrambler though.
Hey mate I'm late to the party. I have the exact same bike, colour and everything. Bought the same seat too. My question is what did you do with the signal relay and 10amp fuse box. They slot into the old mud guard. Now mine are just hanging. Thanks.
Thinking....moot point. But could you maybe have used part of the front of the original seat pan. Cut it and attached it to the new seat pan...to make a more correct fit? Then just re covered it and not seen that it was two pans? Don't know if that would help in having the seat fit around the tank better.
Great work gentlemen; I am enjoying this project, you are keeping it simple, its a budget build after all. Have you thought about the rear lights and number plate? Will you put a small wind shield on the front to make it more comfortable for Nay? If that is what she wants...LOL...
Could you not have used a plastic or rubber bung with slot in for front of seat? It seems your over complicating stuff that could be done simpler otherwise loving the build.
14 episodes already? I keep feeling like you've skipped a number. The bike is really coming along. Nay will be out testing it in no time and then it will be back to being yard art.

Thanks Garth and maybe one day I'll get a TIG welder :-)
Nicely done gents. That seat was a project in itself. Looks great!
Thanks mate! :-)
Looking good matt and mark , some puzzle questions in the intermissions would be great :)
Thanks mate and might throw some in! :-)
Great job guys, wondered how you were going to brace the middle of the seat to keep it from flexing - well done Mark and Matt!!
Thanks Daniel :-)
That turned out great. Look forward to next week.😎👍
Thanks Suzanne! :-)

Thanks.
Its starting to be a serious custom shop this..the union put its lunch foot down:)))
I think you do a great job on this...
Cheers
LOL...Thanks Toby! :-)
Very very nice 100%
Thanks mate! :-)
I think you should be tried making a jig that fits the bolt pattern. It woulve held it right to weld it.
I'd love to see some "unwelding" 😄
For anyone doing this use wing nuts for the seat so it can be taken off easily
cheap Chinese seat foam tends to collapse and break up.
how is this holding up
Still going good! :-)

The old seat pan and the new one are both plastic. Would've been a royal pain to try and do that.
Yeah I agree with Matt.
Could you post the link to the seat you used for the bike? Thanks a bunch!
really comin togetha , good onya m8
Thanks Mate! :-)

Thanks David, rear lights are sorted but we will need a mount for the number plate! Matt was thinking of a windshield but I'm dead against it :-)
Bloody good bloody video!
Thinking of buyimg this seat, how comfortable is it?
Yeah it's fine! I would say average comfort :-)
Sweet as, cheer mate!
What sort of welder are you using?
Ozito Gasless MiG welder!
Could you not have used a plastic or rubber bung with slot in for front of seat? It seems your over complicating stuff that could be done simpler otherwise loving the build.
And just remove the center rubber and let the seat sit on the side bumpers.
Didn't use a rubber or plastic piece just because we were making use of what we had on hand. Less expenses, it is a budget build after all :)
Just went with what we thought and had! :-)

LOL... no numbers skipped! Thanks mate and so true! :-)
Jesus! Where’s Matt’s cup of tea!?
LOL :-)
Get rid of that Gasless mig welder...they're fucking crap! get a proper MIG with Gas.
Too True! :-)
