I know I'm 2 months late and nobody will read this but if you're watching, Verdy, I just wanted to mention that the trick MJ pulled at 10:38 was special because it was maybe the first time anyone had ever seen that move in basketball history. His teammate Scotty Pippen was at the free throw line taking his free shot. As you can see, both teams had specific players in their designated spots around the "paint" as defined in the rules, the intention being if the 2nd free throw is missed, each team has an opportunity (with an an advantage to the opposing team, their two tallest players standing nearest the basket) to catch the rebound and the ball can be in play immediately. It is important to keep your toes off the paint while the player is shooting a free throw, so everyone crouches and waits for the ball to be released from the hand before moving in. If you jump in too quickly, it's a foul and the player gets to try that shot again. MJ had been standing back by the half-court line when Pippen was preparing to shoot. As Pippen squared up, looked at the basket and began to raise his arms to shoot, MJ took off sprinting for the paint. This was unheard of; what was he doing?? As the ball was released you see all the players around the shot moving in and crouching in preparation to jump, waiting for the ball to come down, but MJ was already on his way. As the ball bounced, MJ was already in the paint and going up. When he dunked it, his team got two points, which is one point better than if Pippen had made that shot. I saw this game live on TV, and the whole opposing team including the coach turned to the refs with their hands out like "Is he allowed to do that?? Did he just break a rule??" Nope. It's just that nobody had thought to try that before. In this way and others he changed the game; he even made it so teams started training two sets of plays; their regular set and "Jordan rules" play, which involved different defensive setups and rotations. Didn't help.
The Bulls drafted Michael Jordan a few weeks after I graduated HS in Chicago. He won his last championship and MVP when I was 32. Witnessing his greatness was a privilege. He was the next level on the evolutionary scale, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and everyone knew it in real time.

The Chicago Stadium was rocking in the early 90s. It was like the basketball gods dropped their son into the city. Nobody had ever seen anyone like MJ. It was next level insanity.
Definitely not the greatest lockdown defender ever. He’s up there tho. And he does have flaws. Eveyone has flaws. He doesn’t have any gaping flaws but he does have them.
Well he could only expend so much energy at the defensive end, so maybe not the greatest lockdown defender at all times. But anytime he wanted to be could be.
The thing about Jordan was that he thrived in the clutch situations. He wanted to be THE GUY with the ball with the clock running out and the Bulls 1 point behind. He was hyper competitive and demanded a lot from his teammates in terms of effort. You can see him staring down opponents after he makes big shots. He loved to look at them like "there's nothing you can do to stop me". He was instinctual and talented. The instinct set him apart because as you can see in the video, his body just found ways to make shots.
Jordan’s secret weapon was the size of his hands. You can’t do half the things he does if you can’t easily palm the ball. Phil Jackson has talked about this.
@@EM-cz4rd yeah I mentioned up above this how important on the defensive end as well as the offensive end his big hands and touch were. His offense will always overshadow his elite defensive ability and he was a legit lockdown one on one perimeter if you go back and look at the stats. Sure against the Knicks Ewing would get off, or with the Suns Barkley got his numbers, but whoever Jordan was defending didn’t put up his usual numbers, and he is totally underrated as a team defender.
MJ was the perfect storm. He was one of the fastest. He had the highest vertical jump in nba history. He had huge hands so he could easily palm the ball. He was highly skilled. Highly motivated. Extremely competitive. There really wasn’t anything he couldn’t do on a basketball court. At his peak, he was the best there ever was or will be.
Having those big hands makes a difference right Bear. I am 5'7 and back in the day I could get up there but if you can't palm a ball it's very hard to dunk, let alone windmill.
Still is number one for vertical jump, plus won a number of dunk contests. One of the fastest players ever, and demanded the best out of his team... true leader by example.
Yea MJ has the hands of a 7'2 center, and small feet. It made him explosive and could do crazy stuff with those big hands. I love his dunks, but his layups were on another level.

Jordan was athletic artistry. Just a pleasure to watch and one of the rare players in sports that when you watched them you knew you were watching history. I would also recommend watching Barry Sanders top 50 runs. Barry reminds of Michael Jordan in that both were so great at what they did that even people who were not fans of the players, or even the sport, could enjoy the show they put on because of their unique all time great abilities.
I was 10years old and living in the Chicago suburbs when MJ entered the league. Over the years I saw him play at the old Chicago Stadium twice, and at United Center another four times. Being a Bulls fan in Chicago during his career there was fantastic! Whether as a reaction or for your own curiousity, I HIGHLY recommend watching "The Last Dance" miniseries about his career with interviews of him, his teammates & coaches, opponents, etc ... with lots of footage from his last championship season, 1997-98. You'll gain a much deeper appreciation of his drive and intensity to excel.

Btw, after Michael Jordan won his first 3-straight NBA championships in 1991, 1992, 1993, the reason he suddenly retired from the game in his prime in Summer 1993 was because his father went missing, and was found weeks later, murdered. I was a kid when it happened...but I recall that his dad was driving alone long distance, and stopped somewhere to take a rest. And while he was asleep in his car, two young men broke into his vehicle, robbed him, killed him, and submerged his car in a nearby body of water. This was HUGE international news at the time, and of course devasted the Jordan family, so after the funeral MJ decided to leave the game that he loved in his prime. He played some baseball and just didn't think about basketball for 2 years. Then a couple years later he decided to return and ended up leading his team to yet ANOTHER 3 straight NBA championships. Many experts believe that if he never left the game for 2 years, he would've led his team to 8 STRAIGHT NBA Championships. Also, the clip of him wagging his finger at an opposing player he just dunked on, was actually him (Michael Jordan) using that player's hallmark sign against him. That player (Dikembe Motumbo) was a famous shot-blocker who usually blocked opposing players dunk attempts --- his nickname was 'Mount Mutumbo'...lol. Anyway, whenever Dikembe blocked a dunk attempt, he would wag his finger at that player, basically saying, 'No dunks allowed'...lol. So when Michael dunked on his head, Micheal of course wagged his finger at 'Mount Mutumbo' (please pardon the spelling of 'Mutumbo's name).
I love MJ and this is absolutely not a knock on him, I see no way he'd have won 8 straight championchips. Just 3-peating is already a huge accomplishment, let alone doing it 2ce. But fatigue is a factual thing, be it mental or physical. Mentally in the fact that he played eveyry practice like it was game 7 of the nba finals... That in itself takes an enormous amount of mental fortitude that let alone him, his teammates also had to endure. I'm fairly certain that MJ himself has stated how mentally exhausting winning 3 straight actually is. (This is why most teams don't make it past 2-peats... Since MJ, only the Lakers have accomlpished it 1 time with kobe and Shaq.) Then physically, going to the finals back to back to back, prevents the players from propperly resting and recuperating. Load-management was not as it was then as it is now. Play-off basketball is another game alltogether & 2 months is not enough to recover from injuries... And injuries eventually will happen to any team. Those will add on and on year after year. So let alone 3 peating, winning 8 straight is just not feasable. At the end of the day I think he Rockets would still have gotten 1 of their 2 rings inbetween those 3 peats. As they were also the team the bulls had the most trouble with. The bulls had no answer for Olajuwon, and the Rockets had a 9-9 record against the Bulls between the 1989-90 and 1998-99 seasons.
@@Blazekickz - That thesis that he couldn’t win 8 straight NBA Championships if he hadn’t retired the first time, is strongly challenged by the fact that he had already won 3 straight NBA Championships, and upon his return to a FULL season of play (not the half season), he then proceeded to lead his team to another 3 Straight NBA Championships. Basically, this is akin to 6 Straight NBA Championships in seasons in which he was available for the entire season. Also, with regards to your point about players exhaustion -- you have to also remember that the Chicago Bulls did not win the second 3-peat with the same role players that helped them win the 1st 3-peat. BJ Armstrong, John Paxon, Horace Grant, and the center with the weird shooting form were all gone. And players like Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Luc Longley, and Toni Kukoc were added for the 2nd 3-peat. The 3 constants weee really just MJ, Pippen, and coach Phil Jackson. PS: The 1995 half season does not count since he literally just returned from retirement and joined the team with over half the season already completed, and him not being in full MJ playing shape.
@@Blazekickz A lot of factors gotta be taken into account in this discussion. The 1993 team and the 1996 team were almost completely different. Pippen and Phil Jackson were the only common denominators(and MJ obviously). One of the main problems is that if Jordan doesn't retire in 1993, then a lot of the pieces that changed probably wouldn't have with him on the team. They brought Kerr and Kukoc to make up for Jordan's departure. Maybe with MJ, they win in 1994(I think they would have), then Grant doesn't leave, maybe Paxson and Cartwright don't retire and then they don't get Rodman and Ron Harper plus the other players they got and their 3 last rings might not happen, atleast not in the way they did. Not to mention fatigue would definitely be a problem with 4+ straight finals played. Too many variables lol.

Jordan is still the best basketball player ever in my opinion and he was never a cry baby like some in the sport today. He played injured and he played sick. I don't really like the way this video was made because it mainly just shows him dunking the ball, but he was a great defensive player also. Love the reaction and I hope you will check out the Ultimate Larry Bird Mixed tape also. He doesn't get the respect he deserves by many these days, but he is considered by most people to be one of the best players ever and it's not just a highlight reel. Professional basketball was a lot more fun to watch back in the 80's and 90's before it got watered down. lol

MJ really did seem to effortlessly fly through the air, thats why hes called "Air" Jordan on the retirement/comeback thing... yeah MJ won 3 straight championships with the bulls from '91-'92-'93 and then his dad was killed in a carjacking and MJ retired to play baseball... in part because his dad always said he would be a great baseball player - and he was! He played in the minor leagues, but was working his way up and possibly could have made the major league team, but then MLB had a strike and labor stoppage, so MJ went back to the Bulls and won 3 more championships in a row from '96-'97-'98 before retiring again

Well, there was an NBA basketball player by the name of Spud Webb who played for the Atlanta Hawks back in the 80's. He was only 5'6, just one inch taller than you are. Not only could he dunk the basketball, but he also won the 1986 NBA basketball dunking contest. He had a 46-inch vertical jump. Him and Michael Jordan, both knew each other and got along well. Michael had said that the first time that he saw Spud Webb dunk a basketball, that he couldn't believe his eyes. You have very good reactions to videos, and very pretty eyes as well. Great job!
The reason why he shook the finger was because the guy he dunked on was the best defensive player in the league. Mutombo used to shake his finger everytime he made a block so Mike decided to do it right back ☝️☝️

To explain a few moments in this video: -the shrug he does at 12:48 - this was in the 1992 NBA Finals, at the time there was a lot of media comparisons between Clyde Drexler (who played on the other team at the same position as Jordan) and Michael Jordan, with some saying that Drexler was better because he could shoot 3-pointers and Jordan couldn't. Jordan, being the most competitive person who ever lived, took those words to heart and made six 3 pointers in the first half, which was and still is I believe the all-time record for 3 pointers in a half. He shrugs at the commentators' desk after making the 6th shot -the finger wag at 20:12 - Dikembe Mutombo was a player who was famous for his blocks, which he would follow up with wagging his finger in the face of the player whose shot he blocked. I believe Mutombo said something to the effect of "Jordan can't dunk on me", so when Jordan finally did dunk on him he wagged his finger in Mutombo's face as a taunt Jordan is simply the greatest player of all time, not just for his unbelievable talent but for his work ethic, his competitive drive, and his psychological domination of other players. He would talk trash to anyone on the court, he would even tell players guarding him exactly how he would score on them before doing what he described. We will never see another athlete like him

Yes, he was very fast with his feet and hands. I saw him many times in Chicago and TV had a way of making him look slower. Live, he was often just a blur. He took two years off to play baseball… that’s what his “comeback” was about. He won three championships before baseball and another three after.
Very true. Those that didn't see him in person will never know just how quick he was - off dribble or off jab-step. The guy was jaguar-like. Just how quickly he was also able to get off his feet and bounce. Before defenders knew it he was already airborne.
Yeah, I didn’t see another player as quick as MJ until Allen Iverson… but, Iverson was smaller and though he scored a lot of points, couldn’t dominate the floor like Michael… evidenced by AI’s zero championships.
It was an honor seeing those 6-Ring Dynasty run as a kid. Jordan was the only Guard I saw that just straight-up terrorized all the Centers and Power Forwards from that time, they all got posterized by MJ. All the big names from the tail-end of the 1980s up to the late 1998, they all ended on a silver platter by his Airness' dominance. Hell, even the entire Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" dedicated a "powerplay" SPECIFICALLY tailored to combat Jordan's cold-blooded plays, because they KNEW he was a force to be wreckin' with! Shaking the finger was actually Mutombo's (the guy he dunked on) signature taunt after blocking shots/dunks. The previous All-Star game Mutombo was messing with Jordan saying he never dunked on Mount Mutombo. Jordan made it untrue in that game afterwards, using Dikembe Mutombo's own move to taunt him in reply.

Anyone wanting to see what Michael was really about should see his 55 point game vs Suns in the finals. That is like a masterpiece and the pinnacle of his career. Charles Barkley said he always felt he was the best player on any court he stepped on; and he said that was the first time he ever said to himself: "This man is better than me."
We live an hour from the campus where he played in college. The only time we had to see them in person was when they came to town in '83, the year before he turned pro. He was already a legend by then.

When you said how does he do that dunk at 4:14, there’s a video explaining how he can do dunks like that. He said that he has a wide thumb which helps him grip the ball and move the ball side to side as you can see in some highlights of the video that you react to.

You said it just fine I love the reaction it's genuine. Everybody tries to pretend like LeBron is the greatest but they just weren't around to see Jordan when he played. Not trying to start an argument (it's a moot argument anyway, there's lots of great players, it's impossible to single out one and calling them "the best") but let's not forget that LeBron is playing in the NBA for 20 years now and he's still going strong. He stopped playing for a year and a half to two after his father was murdered, retired from basketball and went to play baseball, returned mid-season after that time with number 45 since he had retired his jersey that was hanging high in the stadium, but later recovered his mythical number 23.

I'm old enough to have watched him play on tv and in person a few times, were i live in Michigan in only 3.5-4hrs from Chicago. people always argue who the best player of all time is and to me it will always be Jordan hands down
That last play, was for the Bulls 6th title in 8 years, They won 3 in a row. Jordan retired for 1 1/2 years, then he came back. Won another 3 championship in a row again. That last shot was that final, was his last shot in that uniform. I'm going to be 41 in a few days. I was 15 years old when he made that shot.
MJ was on two olympic teams. To prepare the 1984 team (before MJ entered the league) they played 8 games against the NBA all-stars. The all-star team had legends like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Clyde Drexler, James Worthy, Kevin McHaleand many others. The Olympic team won all 8 games. They ended up winning the gold medal. The second Olympic team was the 1992 dream team. This team was incredible. The games are still available to watch on RUclips. You can see them from the Tournament of the Americas all the way to winning the gold in Barcelona. There is no one else like MJ.

Yeah, Jordan made everyone in the NBA think about offense and defense completely differently once he got into the league because he was so quick and acrobatic. You had Chamberlain, Bird, Johnson etc, but Jordan played the game differently.

The thing about Jordan was that he thrived in the clutch situations. He wanted to be THE GUY with the ball with the clock running out and the Bulls 1 point behind. He was hyper competitive and demanded a lot from his teammates in terms of effort. You can see him staring down opponents after he makes big shots. He loved to look at them like "there's nothing you can do to stop me". He was instinctual and talented. The instinct set him apart because as you can see in the video, his body just found ways to make shots.
Jordan’s secret weapon was the size of his hands. You can’t do half the things he does if you can’t easily palm the ball. Phil Jackson has talked about this.
@@EM-cz4rd yeah I mentioned up above this how important on the defensive end as well as the offensive end his big hands and touch were. His offense will always overshadow his elite defensive ability and he was a legit lockdown one on one perimeter if you go back and look at the stats. Sure against the Knicks Ewing would get off, or with the Suns Barkley got his numbers, but whoever Jordan was defending didn’t put up his usual numbers, and he is totally underrated as a team defender.
MJ was the perfect storm. He was one of the fastest. He had the highest vertical jump in nba history. He had huge hands so he could easily palm the ball. He was highly skilled. Highly motivated. Extremely competitive. There really wasn’t anything he couldn’t do on a basketball court. At his peak, he was the best there ever was or will be.
Having those big hands makes a difference right Bear. I am 5'7 and back in the day I could get up there but if you can't palm a ball it's very hard to dunk, let alone windmill.
Still is number one for vertical jump, plus won a number of dunk contests. One of the fastest players ever, and demanded the best out of his team... true leader by example.
Yea MJ has the hands of a 7'2 center, and small feet. It made him explosive and could do crazy stuff with those big hands. I love his dunks, but his layups were on another level.

I would also recommend watching Barry Sanders top 50 runs. Barry reminds of Michael Jordan in that both were so great at what they did that even people who were not fans of the players, or even the sport, could enjoy the show they put on because of their unique all time great abilities.
I was 10years old and living in the Chicago suburbs when MJ entered the league. Over the years I saw him play at the old Chicago Stadium twice, and at United Center another four times. Being a Bulls fan in Chicago during his career there was fantastic! Whether as a reaction or for your own curiousity, I HIGHLY recommend watching "The Last Dance" miniseries about his career with interviews of him, his teammates & coaches, opponents, etc ... with lots of footage from his last championship season, 1997-98. You'll gain a much deeper appreciation of his drive and intensity to excel.

Btw, after Michael Jordan won his first 3-straight NBA championships in 1991, 1992, 1993, the reason he suddenly retired from the game in his prime in Summer 1993 was because his father went missing, and was found weeks later, murdered. I was a kid when it happened...but I recall that his dad was driving alone long distance, and stopped somewhere to take a rest. And while he was asleep in his car, two young men broke into his vehicle, robbed him, killed him, and submerged his car in a nearby body of water. This was HUGE international news at the time, and of course devasted the Jordan family, so after the funeral MJ decided to leave the game that he loved in his prime. He played some baseball and just didn't think about basketball for 2 years. Then a couple years later he decided to return and ended up leading his team to yet ANOTHER 3 straight NBA championships. Many experts believe that if he never left the game for 2 years, he would've led his team to 8 STRAIGHT NBA Championships.
Also, the clip of him wagging his finger at an opposing player he just dunked on, was actually him (Michael Jordan) using that player's hallmark sign against him. That player (Dikembe Motumbo) was a famous shot-blocker who usually blocked opposing players dunk attempts --- his nickname was 'Mount Mutumbo'...lol. Anyway, whenever Dikembe blocked a dunk attempt, he would wag his finger at that player, basically saying, 'No dunks allowed'...lol. So when Michael dunked on his head, Micheal of course wagged his finger at 'Mount Mutumbo' (please pardon the spelling of 'Mutumbo's name).
I love MJ and this is absolutely not a knock on him, I see no way he'd have won 8 straight championchips.
Just 3-peating is already a huge accomplishment, let alone doing it 2ce. But fatigue is a factual thing, be it mental or physical.
Mentally in the fact that he played eveyry practice like it was game 7 of the nba finals... That in itself takes an enormous amount of mental fortitude that let alone him, his teammates also had to endure. I'm fairly certain that MJ himself has stated how mentally exhausting winning 3 straight actually is.
(This is why most teams don't make it past 2-peats... Since MJ, only the Lakers have accomlpished it 1 time with kobe and Shaq.)
Then physically, going to the finals back to back to back, prevents the players from propperly resting and recuperating. Load-management was not as it was then as it is now.
Play-off basketball is another game alltogether & 2 months is not enough to recover from injuries... And injuries eventually will happen to any team.
Those will add on and on year after year. So let alone 3 peating, winning 8 straight is just not feasable.
At the end of the day I think he Rockets would still have gotten 1 of their 2 rings inbetween those 3 peats. As they were also the team the bulls had the most trouble with.
The bulls had no answer for Olajuwon, and the Rockets had a 9-9 record against the Bulls between the 1989-90 and 1998-99 seasons.

Basically, this is akin to 6 Straight NBA Championships in seasons in which he was available for the entire season.
Also, with regards to your point about players exhaustion -- you have to also remember that the Chicago Bulls did not win the second 3-peat with the same role players that helped them win the 1st 3-peat. BJ Armstrong, John Paxon, Horace Grant, and the center with the weird shooting form were all gone. And players like Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Luc Longley, and Toni Kukoc were added for the 2nd 3-peat. The 3 constants weee really just MJ, Pippen, and coach Phil Jackson.
PS: The 1995 half season does not count since he literally just returned from retirement and joined the team with over half the season already completed, and him not being in full MJ playing shape.

@@Blazekickz A lot of factors gotta be taken into account in this discussion. The 1993 team and the 1996 team were almost completely different. Pippen and Phil Jackson were the only common denominators(and MJ obviously). One of the main problems is that if Jordan doesn't retire in 1993, then a lot of the pieces that changed probably wouldn't have with him on the team. They brought Kerr and Kukoc to make up for Jordan's departure. Maybe with MJ, they win in 1994(I think they would have), then Grant doesn't leave, maybe Paxson and Cartwright don't retire and then they don't get Rodman and Ron Harper plus the other players they got and their 3 last rings might not happen, atleast not in the way they did. Not to mention fatigue would definitely be a problem with 4+ straight finals played. Too many variables lol.

Jordan is still the best basketball player ever in my opinion and he was never a cry baby like some in the sport today. He played injured and he played sick. I don't really like the way this video was made because it mainly just shows him dunking the ball, but he was a great defensive player also. Love the reaction and I hope you will check out the Ultimate Larry Bird Mixed tape also. He doesn't get the respect he deserves by many these days, but he is considered by most people to be one of the best players ever and it's not just a highlight reel. Professional basketball was a lot more fun to watch back in the 80's and 90's before it got watered down. lol

on the retirement/comeback thing... yeah MJ won 3 straight championships with the bulls from '91-'92-'93 and then his dad was killed in a carjacking and MJ retired to play baseball... in part because his dad always said he would be a great baseball player - and he was! He played in the minor leagues, but was working his way up and possibly could have made the major league team, but then MLB had a strike and labor stoppage, so MJ went back to the Bulls and won 3 more championships in a row from '96-'97-'98 before retiring again

Well, there was an NBA basketball player by the name of Spud Webb who played for the Atlanta Hawks back in the 80's. He was only 5'6, just one inch taller than you are. Not only could he dunk the basketball, but he also won the 1986 NBA basketball dunking contest. He had a 46-inch vertical jump. Him and Michael Jordan, both knew each other and got along well. Michael had said that the first time that he saw Spud Webb dunk a basketball, that he couldn't believe his eyes. You have very good reactions to videos, and very pretty eyes as well. Great job!

-the shrug he does at 12:48 - this was in the 1992 NBA Finals, at the time there was a lot of media comparisons between Clyde Drexler (who played on the other team at the same position as Jordan) and Michael Jordan, with some saying that Drexler was better because he could shoot 3-pointers and Jordan couldn't. Jordan, being the most competitive person who ever lived, took those words to heart and made six 3 pointers in the first half, which was and still is I believe the all-time record for 3 pointers in a half. He shrugs at the commentators' desk after making the 6th shot
-the finger wag at 20:12 - Dikembe Mutombo was a player who was famous for his blocks, which he would follow up with wagging his finger in the face of the player whose shot he blocked. I believe Mutombo said something to the effect of "Jordan can't dunk on me", so when Jordan finally did dunk on him he wagged his finger in Mutombo's face as a taunt
Jordan is simply the greatest player of all time, not just for his unbelievable talent but for his work ethic, his competitive drive, and his psychological domination of other players. He would talk trash to anyone on the court, he would even tell players guarding him exactly how he would score on them before doing what he described. We will never see another athlete like him

Yes, he was very fast with his feet and hands. I saw him many times in Chicago and TV had a way of making him look slower. Live, he was often just a blur. He took two years off to play baseball… that’s what his “comeback” was about. He won three championships before baseball and another three after.
Very true. Those that didn't see him in person will never know just how quick he was - off dribble or off jab-step. The guy was jaguar-like. Just how quickly he was also able to get off his feet and bounce. Before defenders knew it he was already airborne.
Yeah, I didn’t see another player as quick as MJ until Allen Iverson… but, Iverson was smaller and though he scored a lot of points, couldn’t dominate the floor like Michael… evidenced by AI’s zero championships.

It was an honor seeing those 6-Ring Dynasty run as a kid. Jordan was the only Guard I saw that just straight-up terrorized all the Centers and Power Forwards from that time, they all got posterized by MJ. All the big names from the tail-end of the 1980s up to the late 1998, they all ended on a silver platter by his Airness' dominance. Hell, even the entire Detroit Pistons "Bad Boys" dedicated a "powerplay" SPECIFICALLY tailored to combat Jordan's cold-blooded plays, because they KNEW he was a force to be wreckin' with! And having a specific play named after you really speaks such volumes, that's why he'll always be THE GOAT

Shaking the finger was actually Mutombo's (the guy he dunked on) signature taunt after blocking shots/dunks. The previous All-Star game Mutombo was messing with Jordan saying he never dunked on Mount Mutombo. Jordan made it untrue in that game afterwards, using Dikembe Mutombo's own move to taunt him in reply.

Anyone wanting to see what Michael was really about should see his 55 point game vs Suns in the finals. That is like a masterpiece and the pinnacle of his career. Charles Barkley said he always felt he was the best player on any court he stepped on; and he said that was the first time he ever said to himself:
"This man is better than me."
We live an hour from the campus where he played in college. The only time we had to see them in person was when they came to town in '83, the year before he turned pro. He was already a legend by then.

When you said how does he do that dunk at 4:14, there’s a video explaining how he can do dunks like that. He said that he has a wide thumb which helps him grip the ball and move the ball side to side as you can see in some highlights of the video that you react to.

He stopped playing for a year and a half to two after his father was murdered, retired from basketball and went to play baseball, returned mid-season after that time with number 45 since he had retired his jersey that was hanging high in the stadium, but later recovered his mythical number 23.

I'm old enough to have watched him play on tv and in person a few times, were i live in Michigan in only 3.5-4hrs from Chicago. people always argue who the best player of all time is and to me it will always be Jordan hands down
That last play, was for the Bulls 6th title in 8 years, They won 3 in a row. Jordan retired for 1 1/2 years, then he came back. Won another 3 championship in a row again. That last shot was that final, was his last shot in that uniform. I'm going to be 41 in a few days. I was 15 years old when he made that shot.
MJ was on two olympic teams. To prepare the 1984 team (before MJ entered the league) they played 8 games against the NBA all-stars. The all-star team had legends like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Clyde Drexler, James Worthy, Kevin McHaleand many others. The Olympic team won all 8 games. They ended up winning the gold medal.
The second Olympic team was the 1992 dream team. This team was incredible. The games are still available to watch on RUclips. You can see them from the Tournament of the Americas all the way to winning the gold in Barcelona.

Yeah, Jordan made everyone in the NBA think about offense and defense completely differently once he got into the league because he was so quick and acrobatic. You had Chamberlain, Bird, Johnson etc, but Jordan played the game differently.
