I'm a huge LeBron fan or I used to be anyway he's changed a lot since the early Cavaliers days. Difference is Jordan played every game, went hard every minute he was on the floor, never flopped, never shied away from the big moment as a matter of fact dominated the big moment, played defense and offense and never asked for load management minutes. He hit the big shots when they counted the most, he made his teammates better, he didn't depend on his teammates to carry him, he played thru an Era when other teams attacked him, and he was humble.

He also saw Perkins going up to challenge the shot, which is why Jordan switched hands in mid-air. But Perkins pulls back at the last minute. Doesn't go all the way up. That's why a lot of people don't understand why Jordan switched it. If you grew up watching Jordan play, you know that he often anticipated the movement of the defender and reacted to it in real time. You will notice that he pumps his layup at 4:51, because he suspected that Laimbeer might come from behind to challenge the layup. It's a similar type of situation. Jordan did this all the time. It was his offensive instinct to adjust to his defender's movements. It's one of the attributes that made him almost impossible to guard.
In hindsight, even he may have said the same thing. He didn’t know there wasn’t someone coming from his blind side to block his shot. He may have heard footsteps or felt someone’s presence so he adjusted his shot.
It was so cool growing up in the Jordan era. Every single night you knew you would see something special. As much as I love LBJ, he has his moments. Career I believe he shot just around 30% but only attempted 2-3 3ot shots a game. This was his greatest weakness supposedly and yet he sat right at league average for that Era. In today's Era guys are shooting 10+ a game. LBJ shoots 8 a game give or take and is also a 30% and lower career shooter. From 3. Now here's the question. How can LBJ even compare to MJ when LBJ FG% is around 30% also. LBJ shooting from 0-3 ft meaning layups, dunks and put backs is a 76%+ shooter. But outside 3 ft. Meaning 4ft- 3pt line is a measly 20-24٪ shooter. How in anyone's right mind can someone be that bad of a shooter and be considered a GOAT by any stretch of imagination. Someone please make ot make sense. LeBron simple cannot shoot the basketball efficiently unless he's arms length from rim.
MJ's 3pt % was 33% which isn't bad at all, he didn't make 3pt shooting a major aspect of his game only shooting (shooting less than two 3's per game). But he isn't a liability from 3 by any means.

Also, during that period 3pt shooting was considered a low percentage shot and was not the highlight of the game as it is today. You would never see a center shooting 3pt shots. Lambier was probably one of the few centers that shot deep consistently. Also, don't forget clutch shooting comparison which is another vast difference!
The "unnecessary" layup was because Jordan saw Perkins right beneath the hoop. Jordan and Perkins were college teammates and Jordan knew how good a shot blocker Perkins is. Jordan mentioned this in an interview.

The player who dominated in the 04-05 season was Iverson.

I was watching game 3 between the Nets and Sixers and at the end of the game in the final minutes a foul was called sending a Nets player to the line. The commentators were trying to explain why the foul was called and all I could think about is how Jordan would have definitely averaged 50 a game in today’s game. No doubt
He wasn't a bad three point shooter. Not sure where you got that from. The 3 wasn't that big of part of the game until somewhat recently. If he played today bet he would have alot more. He would defiantly average alot of points per game if he played now. He would be more legendary than he already is.
Lebron is a great player. Lebron has photographic memory. Lebron can recall plays so if they run that same play again, he knows what to expect. Kobe was a master of details and can mimic/copy someone’s moves. Jordan had the ability to visualize the outcome before it happens and then would tell you exactly what he was going to do! Jordan also had the ability to levitate and contort his body in mid air while palming the ball. All are great players but when you have the ability to predict the future, that’s why Jordan is my goat.
That layup against the lakers where he was flying in the air and switched hands was necessary. It showed how nobody was on his level even to this day. He’s simply on another level. That’s no knock to any of the all time greats.
Jordan said he thought that the players in front of him were gonna jump. If you look at the replay you can see they were about to and then they must have said “never mind I don’t want to get dunked on”. In real time Jordan saw them about to jump and reacted in a split second to do one of the most iconic shots ever off the cuff.
Actually his 3 point shooting percentage was very high. It just wasn't part of his game. It was held against him 1 week in the media. People saying he can't shoot threes.. So he came out the next game and shot pretty much only 3's. It's the game where he held his hands out (palms point up) after shooting, pretty much saying "I guess its just luck it went in the basket". After that game, no one questioned his 3 point shooting ability.

@@jeffreyadams3385 the problem when you don't shoot a lot of normal 3s is that shots like mid-court buzzer/shotclock-beaters weigh heavily on your stats and therefore ruin your % (as those are rarely hit). I mean if you shoot 10 3s with 9 normal, 0-1 defender 3s and 1 buzzer beater is worlds different from 3 3s, 2 of which are shotclock-beaters.

Agreed there’s actually an interview out there where someone is interviewing MICHAEL and ask him about that very thing and he basically went into saying that he did not desire being a great three-point shooter because he didn’t want that to take away from the rest of his game and he didn’t want that to make him in essence lazy and very passive relying on shooting at three point shot. He scored 63 points on midrange jumpers, dunks and free throws... lots of free throws. Had he made just 4 more three pointers, because there is no way on God's green earth that anyone in today's game is scoring 69 without making more than 2 3's, had he made just 4 more, he would have matched Kobe's 81. He was a pretty decent three point shooter, he just take very many of them. Nobody in the 80's and 90's really did.

That “unnecessary” move you said he made on the layup against the Lakers in Game 2 of the 1991 Finals actually wasn’t unnecessary at all. If you look to his right as he took flight, there’s a defender who goes up as if he’s going to try to contest and then decides against it (because it’s Jordan 😏). Jordan being an instinctual player (especially when in the air), his peripherals engaged and he switched hands so that the defender couldn’t do anything about it. Everything Jordan did was instinctual. The man was inhuman.
Most of Jordan’s 3pt attempts from the 1st half of his career were bail out shots at the end of the shot clock which is why his career percentage is only 33 percent. The couple seasons that he decided to shoot more 3s, he ended up with some of the highest season averages still to this day. He showed he could shoot the 3 if he wanted to when he hit 6 against Portland just to prove a point

MJ thought Sam Perkins was gonna jump and try to block his shot, so that’s why he switched it from right to left. Those were MJ’s words. Also, MJ knows the guy well because he played with him in college. It was iconic because it was his 13th consecutive field goal, not points, in the game. And that was not an easy shot to make.
His ability to react and adjust is one aspect of what made him unstoppable. An entire team would attempt to cover him because they KNEW he was coming - and he would cut through them all and still score. When he was playing, the emphasis on 3-pointers isn’t what it is today, but he still put up great numbers. He could score from anywhere.

Man, Mike was the first athlete that I knew was gonna gonna do everything he could. Win or die trying. I never felt like he just got his numbers and checked out mentally. He wanted every game like it was his last. I loved watching Jordan and Kobe for that mentality.

Difference is Jordan played every game, went hard every minute he was on the floor, never flopped, never shied away from the big moment as a matter of fact dominated the big moment, played defense and offense and never asked for load management minutes. He hit the big shots when they counted the most, he made his teammates better, he didn't depend on his teammates to carry him, he played thru an Era when other teams attacked him, and he was humble.

Makes sense, since we never seen that from MJ before. He never practice the acrobatic finishes, just innate ability to react to the defense and finish around the rim.
He also saw Perkins going up to challenge the shot, which is why Jordan switched hands in mid-air. But Perkins pulls back at the last minute. Doesn't go all the way up. That's why a lot of people don't understand why Jordan switched it. If you grew up watching Jordan play, you know that he often anticipated the movement of the defender and reacted to it in real time. You will notice that he pumps his layup at 4:51, because he suspected that Laimbeer might come from behind to challenge the layup. It's a similar type of situation. Jordan did this all the time. It was his offensive instinct to adjust to his defender's movements. It's one of the attributes that made him almost impossible to guard.

It was so cool growing up in the Jordan era. Every single night you knew you would see something special. As much as I love LBJ, he has his moments. With MJ, it was the entire game he was turned on and 110% on offense and defense and he looked good doing it. And he loved winning more than anyone. People in other countries celebrated MJ. It was a great time for basketball.

I only had one VHS of Jordan that I watched over and over. it wasn't until 1995 that there was a weekly show about the NBA, and yet everyone here had a Jordan sponsorship, and countless people played outside. And everyone talked about it at school.

In today's Era guys are shooting 10+ a game. LBJ shoots 8 a game give or take and is also a 30% and lower career shooter. From 3.
Now here's the question. How can LBJ even compare to MJ when LBJ FG% is around 30% also. LBJ shooting from 0-3 ft meaning layups, dunks and put backs is a 76%+ shooter. But outside 3 ft. Meaning 4ft- 3pt line is a measly 20-24٪ shooter. How in anyone's right mind can someone be that bad of a shooter and be considered a GOAT by any stretch of imagination. Also, during that period 3pt shooting was considered a low percentage shot and was not the highlight of the game as it is today. You would never see a center shooting 3pt shots. I was watching game 3 between the Nets and Sixers and at the end of the game in the final minutes a foul was called sending a Nets player to the line. The commentators were trying to explain why the foul was called and all I could think about is how Jordan would have definitely averaged 50 a game in today’s game. No doubt

Lebron is a great player. Lebron has photographic memory. Lebron can recall plays so if they run that same play again, he knows what to expect. Kobe was a master of details and can mimic/copy someone’s moves. Jordan had the ability to visualize the outcome before it happens and then would tell you exactly what he was going to do! Jordan also had the ability to levitate and contort his body in mid air while palming the ball. All are great players but when you have the ability to predict the future, that’s why Jordan is my goat.

If you look at the replay you can see they were about to and then they must have said “never mind I don’t want to get dunked on”. Actually his 3 point shooting percentage was very high. It just wasn't part of his game. It was held against him 1 week in the media. People saying he can't shoot threes.. So he came out the next game and shot pretty much only 3's. It's the game where he held his hands out (palms point up) after shooting, pretty much saying "I guess its just luck it went in the basket". After that game, no one questioned his 3 point shooting ability.
He shot league average 33 percent t. But yes that was worse part of his game. But in today's game he would shoot much higher percentage.

I mean if you shoot 10 3s with 9 normal, 0-1 defender 3s and 1 buzzer beater is worlds different from 3 3s, 2 of which are shotclock-beaters.

Had he made just 4 more three pointers, because there is no way on God's green earth that anyone in today's game is scoring 69 without making more than 2 3's, had he made just 4 more, he would have matched Kobe's 81. That “unnecessary” move you said he made on the layup against the Lakers in Game 2 of the 1991 Finals actually wasn’t unnecessary at all. If you look to his right as he took flight, there’s a defender who goes up as if he’s going to try to contest and then decides against it (because it’s Jordan 😏). Jordan being an instinctual player (especially when in the air), his peripherals engaged and he switched hands so that the defender couldn’t do anything about it. Everything Jordan did was instinctual. The man was inhuman.
MJ led the league in scoring, and won defensive player of the year in the same yr. Never gave up on either end of the floor. GOAT NO QUESTION.
Most of Jordan’s 3pt attempts from the 1st half of his career were bail out shots at the end of the shot clock which is why his career percentage is only 33 percent. The couple seasons that he decided to shoot more 3s, he ended up with some of the highest season averages still to this day. He showed he could shoot the 3 if he wanted to when he hit 6 against Portland just to prove a point
Facts!! :) His 33% avg was also the NBA average during his ERA which means he wasn't horrible at hitting 3s, he just chose not to shoot them so often since he was making 3 pointers the old fashioned way...i.e. drive to the hoop, enjoy some Air time, draw the foul, make the creative 2 point bucket, land back on the court, and then drain the easy free-throw to complete the MJ 3-pointer...☺

His ability to react and adjust is one aspect of what made him unstoppable. An entire team would attempt to cover him because they KNEW he was coming - and he would cut through them all and still score. When he was playing, the emphasis on 3-pointers isn’t what it is today, but he still put up great numbers. He could score from anywhere.
That’s what you don’t understand. Jordan was the competition. When you’re the alpha on Top everyone else is beneath you and doesn’t seem as great in comparison. most people focus on jordan's leaping ability but the dude had legitimate world class speed and first step quickness. that's why you see him just run by people and you aren't catching him on a fast break. also for a guy who wasn't the biggest out on the court he had no fear going to the rim on anyone.

Man, Mike was the first athlete that I knew was gonna gonna do everything he could. Win or die trying. I never felt like he just got his numbers and checked out mentally. He wanted every game like it was his last. I loved watching Jordan and Kobe for that mentality.

I agree that the rules got more “soft” for players.. although, there’s a highlight reel of LeBron bullying through contact. He’s a 6’8” power forward with guard abilities.. a lot of people moving out the way when he drives to the rack.

I do, but I was rooting against him, I was just sick of him winning! I was the bar at the Embassy Suites in Orlando, FL. But looking back, I'm glad he won and I was able to see it live. I actually watched all of his championships live. I haven't missed a Finals since I was I think 10 (mid-80's).

Lebrons fg percentage is around 30 when guarded by Kobe. Kobe’s is around 50 when Gaurded by lebron. Jordan was same height and weight as Kobe. But Jordan is a smarter scorer and better defender than Kobe
In one on one scenarios, right it’s Jordan > Kobe > LeBron. In terms of overall ability in team situations LeBron is more dominant and better all around.

That’s a common misconception that lebron is better all around which comes from the idea that he is more of a passer, when Jordan’s passing was on par with the best. There’s footage on RUclips of his passing. Phill Jackson asked Jordan to finish the plays in the triangle offense. So Jordan could pass but he was asked to play a role. And basketball is about outscoring the other team. If your a coach, do you want someone who defers to the role players? Or someone who can get buckets at will, while locking up the other teams best scorer during clutch time? Lebron scores and gets assists. But if lebron scores 30 and let’s His matchup score 28. Then lebrons scoring impact is only 2 points. I want the elite 2 way player. Every time.

Lebron in recent memory has been at his best.. 2016 finals was the best he's ever played on the grand stage. not to mention, his dominance in both 2015 and 2017 was on display even though hsi team lost those 2 years. 2015 due to injuries of k love and kyrie. 2017 due to kevin durant being added to a warriors sqaud that was already top tier on their own. @@luhhvii If LeBron is better in team situations then how come even with a stacked Superteam he sometimes loses to less stacked teams? 2011 Finals, his team was stacked with 3 allstars and he got slapped by the Mavs who only had 1 single allstar. 2014 Finals, he again had a team stacked with 3 allstars and lost to an aging Spurs who only had 1 allstar.
Jordan has only ever had 1 allstar teammate his entire career, and has won championships while being the ONLY allstar on his team.

He won 5 league MVP, 6 finals MVP, one defensive player of the year, 9x first team all defense, 3rd all time in steals, still has the highest vertical in league history, ran a 4.3 forty, most clutch player in history and loved to rip the beating heart out of an opponents chest. There is no GOAT in an era, because it means "of all time", not "of this era". And when you talk about the GOAT, off course it is Mike, no question about it. You shouldn't even compare Lebron to him. That's not fair, because it is not even close. You already said the biggest difference between them, Mike was an elite-defender his whole career. Lebron only for a couple of seasons. About the switch mid air, that was not necessary. Mike once said, he did it because he saw Perkins coming from the side, and he had really long arms. So to avoid him even try to block him, he switched.
Right Jordan is a better one on one defender.. although I must say, Jordan’s competition was not to the same pedigree as LeBron’s..
@@luhhvii You're wrong. Lebron made the finals so many times because the competition in his Leastern Conference was so weak. In the finals, Jordans opponents actually had a higher winning rate 61.2 wins per season, Lebrons opponents 60.8. So the facts are against your statement.
Glad you said it's not fair. They once asked Hakeem, who's one of the greatest centers all-time, who was better between MJ and Bron and he said "it's an unfair comparison. Jordan was far more superior and in a tougher league."
