I've started using aloe vera gel by mixing it and water in a spray bottle and spritzing it on my face right before I apply my moisturizer in order to lock the moisture in. I like this as a diy alternative to all those fragrancy face sprays you see now!
My acne has gone down tremendously doing no fragrance, your moisturizing with water still on your face technique and the salicylic acid face wash “zap zit” Thanks so much dr.dray😂👏🏽 and using SUNSCREEN
I like the aloe mask and toner from the body shop.... zero fragrance, no alcohol in them. I find aloe evens out my skin tone and calms my skin really well if it’s inflamed from a product that didnt agree with my skin.
I'm a frequent hand-washer, and the skin on my hands used to get really dry. I started applying aloe before my moisturizer, and now my hands look really healthy and feel wonderfully soft! So happy!
I used to use Fruit of the Earth and couldn't understand why it would sting sometimes or why I was breaking out....Until I learned that the tests showed it's got no aloe in it! Switched to Lily of the Desert (which actually SMELLS like aloe vera, unlike FooE, which just smelled weird) and I use it as a humectant with my other moisturizer, with no problems, thank goodness. I am happy to learn that this store-bought gelly is safe to continue using ❤️ thank you, doctor!
Great video! I've never been into growing the aloe plants or using the gel from the drugstore but the idea of freezing it for a kitchen burn or maybe some very itchy mosquito bites seems very soothing. Happy Wednesday evening.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! You are an articulate speaker and I appreciate the honest information you deliver. PS- I now use sunscreen thanks to your passion backed up by science!
Thank you for this info. I have tried aloe vera from the plant and from the bottle on my broken capillaries on cheeks. I have also used cider vinegar on my sun spots. Yep, I could go on with my trials and tribulations. Dr. Oz pointed me in the direction of cider vinegar and aloe vera I did my own research on. Well, I'm now on Retin A, using Cerave in tub, thanks to you and regularly sunscreening (which one really needs doing Retin A, so I'm forcing my stubborn self now). I still use my Clinique and some other stand bys; but I find the Cerave in tub just right for the Tretinoin combo. As always thanks for your sharing of knowledge. All skin is unique to the person, I have to point out, that's the reality. But the median consensus is a very good indicator. Age, condition, and skin type are important factors. Love how you help all of us make executive informed decisions on our own skincare.
I love using fresh Aloe for everything. I get great results using it directly on my face. My pores look smaller, my age spots lighter and I have a light glow in my skin. I also use for any bug bites on myself or my dog. I relieves the itch. Also I use to make my hair softer. If I do not soak the aloe before using it I can feel irritation and itchiness. I think is the latex? what she calls anthraquinones. Its a yellow sap
That makes me so angry about the Fruit of the Earth brand! No wonder it's so cheap on Amazon. I appreciate that you brought up this issue. I will never buy that brand again.
Thank you for the information about aloe vera benefits. A few years ago I bought aloe vera gel. And I noticed that it has properties to smooth mimic wrinkles as though there were no ingredients in the product for achieving such aim. I wondered which ingredient gave this amazing result. When I researched on aloe vera benefits I found out that aloe vera stimulates fibroblast which produces collagen and elastin fibers making skin more elastic and less wrinkled. Aloe vera has the properties of regeneration of the fibroblast cells. I saw this on my skin instantly after applying aloe vera gel topically on my skin. It is an amazing ingredient which contains active components: Vitamins A (beta-carotene), C, E, B12, folic acid, Niacinamide, enzymes, minerals, sugars, fatty acids, aminoacids.
I got a botox treatment and some filler about a week ago. Being 70 years of age my skin bruised and took a while to heal. So a friend suggested I use the raw aloe gel from his plant on my face. What a transformation! I rubbed the aloe and pieces and juice of it had reduced the swelling and color of the bruising overnight. After about 4 days most of the needle, swelling and bruising effects have almost gone away. I highly recommend getting an aloe plant, slice it open and use the green gel on the face. My face smoothed out and it lightened and smoothed out my skin. Try it. It is amazing.
I use the aloe plant. The irritating substance is next to the leaf skin. When you cut the leaf you let the “latex" drain out. Then you rinse the "meat" of the plant with water. From this you can squeeze the gel or puree it. It can be kept in the fridge.
Exactly. If you cut out the latex and thoroughly rinse before use then it's very safe to apply to the skin. It's a very low risk ingredient compared to the actives that they put in skincare ingredients
Aloe Vera gel is really good to treat burns. I accidentally poured hot water over my hand when draining pasta. I ran cold water over my hand but it was still on fire and was bright red. I had no burn spray and pharmacies were closed for the night. I remembered I had a tube of Aloe Vera gel. I slathered it all over my burned hand. It stung like crazy for about 5 minutes and then it was soothing. I applied several times before going to bed. It soothed the burning sensation and in the morning my hand was fine, no redness and no burning. It was great for my hand but not sure I would put it on my face.
I bought pure aloe gel to shave my face... As soon as i put it on my face it got red and it burned a bit (before i started to shave) I thought it was impossible since I had always heard just good things about aloe. Now I know better. Thanks Dr Dray :))
What a good idea freezing aloe vera gel in ice cube trays! I already keep shop bought aloe vera gel in the fridge for burns, but this sounds even better! Would also be good for rubbing over your face/body in the summer if the heat gets too much for you. Already looking forward to tomorrow's video.Happy Tuesday! 💕
I have a Aloe Vera Gel for the face & body, I use it on my face every night after I apply my serums and before I use my moisturizer. Thank you for the video!!
Ugh the nature Republic one was my first experience with aloe and it gave me the worst rash of my life all 9ver my face and I have never been able to use any aloe containing product afterwards without getting rash/bumps from it.
@@eylulvv no it s not because 100% means no preservatives wich means very VERY dangerous to the skin if you are not planing to use that gel in less than 3 days. That 99% aloe or 95% it s that way because the rest of the procentages are very important preservatives.
@@eylulvv yea, it depends on what the parfume is made out of and on the preservatives used, not the concentration. It can be 0.5 % very strong parfume and 0.5% potent preservative, the concentration isnt what always matter but the potency of the ingredients
What do you think about ~95% Aloe Vera Gel/Cream? I might have Fungal Acne, so I'm trying to find something healthy, hypoallergenic and moisturizering, and a cleanser with the same factors.
I use rose water as toner and aloe vera soothing gel as moisturizer as no other moisturizer suits my skin unless it's winter. I feel like I need more of a moisturizer during winter. So I'd use a cold cream during that time.
I apply freshly squeezed aloe Vera gel to cleansed face, then Hado labo perfect gel immediately on top, then tretinoin 0.05 and finally an oil free moisturizer. Been doing this at night for the past 2 months. Acne and dark spots are gone and no irritation. But I'm so confused now Doctor, you said there's salicylic acid in aloe, then wouldn't it be making the tretinoin ineffective? Should I change my routine?
@Sandra Lffv... Dr Dray already has a video on this. If you type Dr Dray CBD oil into the search box at the top of the page, you'll see it come up, from 3 months ago. Hope this helps :)
Happy Tuesday! I always wondered about Aloe Vera. I really appreciate the science information that you provide and when there is not enough research yet to provide the science behind your findings. I've always been the kind of person that asks why and you provide that information. :)
This answers so many questions for me. I use to apply aloe gel on mild eczema or after being exposed to sunlight for long periods of time (Disneyland!) and it would get red and sometimes itchy. Never understood why. I do love adding aloe gel flesh to tea tho. Never had an issue with that. Thank you Dr. Dray!
In Asia, we are hype with this Aloe vera gel and the composition around 90% and even there is a product claim Aloe vera gel 98%. Well, no offense for this claim. . I use this product to heal my sunburnt. I use this for all of my body and even my face. I use this as a mask and wash it off. BUTTTT, later i found out my friend use it as a moisturizer and wear it with all her skincare and leave it until mornig. Is it safe? Or this product could use as a moisturizer too, doc?
If you use the plant one way to get rid of the ingredient that will irritate is by once you cut the plat put it in a cup of water and a yellow substance will come out. Leave it there about 5 minutes and replace the water 2 or 3 times until you see no more yellowish substance come out. This is how I always use aloe without it irritating my skin ,be it on face or cuts.
Enjoying your Aloe in-depth review with my herb tea break. Nice to know the scientific background and components of this amazing little plant. Love the icecube idea for kitchen Burns and scalds. Your skin is looking so much more radiant these days ..just beautiful. Happy Tuesday. Hugs.,, Sherry
I love Aruba Aloe Island Remedy products that l pickup when Husband and l visit Aruba. Yes, the product line is lightly scented but it all smells so lovely and applieds on the skin so nicely , that I just can't help myself! I guess you could say it's my guilty pleasure when it comes to skin products. Happy Tuesday 😊🍁
I want to try aloe to since it worked wonders to a lot of people but I'm getting the feeling that it will only break me out just like any other hyped products out there lol
I'd you use the plant soak the gel in water first to remove the irritating ingredients. It's very good to remove scars wrinkles and slightly whitens skin. But buying from a good brand is better. We here in Africa we use it for all kinds of healing and no one breaks into any rashes or diseases😅
Hi! As far back as I can remember, aloe vera is one of the ingredients we've heard most often. Several products presented to us contained aloe vera. I was never a big fan but I remember buying a foot product that contained it. I think it's important that we know how to make a difference. It was presented to us as a miracle product but today there are so many new ingredients that we can hardly find our way around. Thank you for making this video because I have just understood the difference in the benefits and problems that this plant can cause.
I love my aloe skincare system. I have eczema and psoriasis and it has helped me so much. No more steroids - I should mention that the skincare only uses the fillet - the actual gel of the inner leaf. Not the whole plant.
@@cajunlady4893 I actually signed on with them after using them for a few years. I have had trouble with psoriasis and eczema all of my life and I am amazed at how well this works. I am responding from my RUclips channel about it....you can contact me direct from there if you want more info.
I have eczema and I love it. It does help hyperpigmentation and the salicylic acid tightens my pores. It's simple to wash out the latex. I get itchy otherwise. But works great. Just the fleshy aloe no yellow latex
I have tried revitalash and it didn't seem to work for me, and I currently use Babe Lash and it seemed to work right away, but hasn't gone the extra mile that I was hoping for-at least as of yet. I'm still on my first bottle.
I have spotted aloe vera bowel cleanse in the supermarket was intrigued since I do suffer from constipation which is so annoying but it's my lazy dietary ways that cause it which I'm planning to change but still when I looked at it I had doubts whether it work or not but since you say it's effective I might give it a try sometime
Hi Dr. Dray, I enjoy watching your videos. They are extremely informative. Have you reviewed the brand Nature Republic? The main ingredient in their products is Aloe which they claim it has over 80%. I was hoping to hear your thoughts and opinions on this brand.
Thank you for doing a video on aloe vera! Very informative. I like using aloe as a topical and especially in the summer when my back and shoulders may have had a bit too much sun. It is quite soothing. As a child my mom bought a bottle of 100% pure aloe. I’ve never seen it since my childhood. Everything now has additional ingredients so it’s not so pure. It was so pure it actually said on the container you could eat it. As a curious child I tried it once and it turned out I quite liked it. So I would periodically sample it. My mom eventually found out and needless to say she wasn’t impressed. The bottle disappeared after that.
I’ve been thinking about making a dermstore purchase, since many of your recommendations lead me to that site. Can you make a video on your favorite(and least favorite) dermstore products that consumers should look out for?
Loved this video Dr. Dray!! I have often Wondered about, how safe Aloe Vera is. This topic is sooo interesting!! Thank you so much for a Fantastic video as always!! Please enjoy the rest of your Day!! xox!!

Andrea, you have really helped me.. with your videos I have roceasea and until I came across your channel realized that mineral sunscreens were better for me since then I bought a ton! and everything seems to irritate or dry my face so much lately I been trying something with out success currently I am using the make p:rem spf 50++++ and the Botanical Sunscreen Face 50 Australian gold.. I have also tried the Murad spf 50++++ which seems to irritate my face.. I have also the colorscience face shield 50+++ they seem to bother me and make me get breakouts at this point..I am not sure if it's the other ingredients in the sunblock or moisturizer or what?? You are amazing and the only one that gives productive and useful information here.. Thanks so much!
I have Seborrheic dermatitis, sometimes plain flakes, and I had a shampoo (by Novalis / EU) that had Aloe barbadensis as its very first ingredient. It left my scalp so clear and I could not for the life of me work it out; now that you mention the S. Acid component, it is all starting to make sense to me.
@@DrDrayzday, the ingredients are mentioned there too, but my bottle was *very* old when I got to finally using it, different packaging for sure, and mine had aloe at its very first ingredient, then aqua. For sure! It's odd how that changes; might not be as effective these days then. I have no idea. It's on biovita-shop.be too. I am no longer using it. I switched to regular harsh sulfates like Pantene and Herbal Essences to keep my scalp squeaky clean and it is working as I barely have to use the Nizoral 2% these past years (a few years ago I did).
Hi Dr Dray, great video, I always take notes and learn a lot. I found a product that claims to have 99% aloe vera leaf juice, is by the brand Holika Holika...it is possible to have that much concentration?
Dr. Dray, do you approve Lily of the desert aloe product line(s)? Their topical 99% Aloe Gelly looks to have mostly real Aloe, minor preservatives, and their “Aloesorb” technology. They carry aloe infused skin and hair products. I have watched many, many videos and haven’t seen a product of theirs ever mentioned.
Regarding burns 😪 is this a valid thing to do - or wrong? It seems to have helped with little kitchen issues. A friend's brother is a doctor in another country. He said their hospitals use apple cider vinegar on burns. I have tried it, and it helped! Almost immediately. Oh! Another aloe Vera "question" - I think a friend had internal burning from chemo or radiation for bresst cancer 😪 She drank aloe Vera & said it helped (hope I have this correctly...been some years)
Thank you for doing such an awesome job explaining aloe! I found this fascinating and incredibly informative. Since you discussed icing a sunburn/minor kitchen scald with aloe, could you do a video about the appropriate treatment for these minor mishaps? My understanding has always been that icing any burn is inadvisable, so it would be great if you could address that in the future.
Thank you for the video, so helpful! I do have a clarification though...when using an aloe Vera plant, I only use the gel and I cut off the surrounding leaf...no crushing up the leaf/plant at all. Most of the time I will even rinse the gel to get off any pesticides, etc., in order to avoid any irritation to my skin. Is using the actual gel from the fresh plant still problematic? I just wanted to clarify because it sounds like from your video the leaf (both internally and externally) is an issue and contains the problems. You do say the gel (the part that is squeezed out of the leaf) is good? But is that only specific to over-the-counter versions that come processed, not the gel that comes from the actual plant? Sorry, I’m still so confused even after your video! But overall, this was helpful, so I thank you so much!
i dont recommend using the plant at all....you risk exposure to lignans and other irritants that are removed in aloe used in products sold that meet industry standards
Dr. Dray, I recently asked you an aloe question on another video. Thank you for answering in this video. I have never experienced irritation, but it may be due to how I prepare mine since I mix it in water and make an icy, diluted slurry with my aloe. One of my daughters did use it full strength on her eczema a few months ago and a small spot on her jawline was very irritated and she stopped using it on her skin.
@@ponnuclintuvine8590 I can't. The one I bought was 100% Aloe with nothing in it.BUUUTT...I have lupus and scleroderma so my skin is more fragile and prone to yeast bruising and sun burn. I’m not sure if you’ve done it or addressed it in other videos about sunscreen, but could you maybe make a video about layering sunscreens? I’m curious bc I’ve always wondered if it’s okay to layer a tinted moisturizer or CC cream with physical SPF over a base layer with chemical SPF, and there’s all kinds of conflicting info online. Thanks Dr. Dray ☺️
Hello Dr. Dray! I just ordered some goat's milk soap. I have dermatitis on my arms, a little in my scalp, and a little back acne. I am diabetic so I don't know if that is why I've developed this condition or not. Will goat's milk soap help it? Aloe Vera is very soothing to the skin. Can it help? TFS
Thanks for sharing your knowledge to us!! I'm a 3rd grade med student and love to hear from you about skincare informations :) I have a question I'd like to ask, so is a store-bought aloe vera gel (made up of 95% "aloe vera from leaf gel" for example) is safe? For example this product: Aloe Juice (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice) (&95), Aqua/Water, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Ethylhexylglycerin. It says dermatologically tested
Have tried using aloe vera gel (Fruit of the Earth) once after a serious sunburnt thinking it would soothe my skin and ended up with a very bad skin allergy with bumpy rashes all over my body and swollen lips. I guess aloe vera is not for everyone. :(
I know this is a late reply, but my brother had the same reaction to this brand, but not actual aloe leaf or other brands. If I remember correctly fruit of the earth had a class action lawsuit against them for misleading advertising. A lot of the gel in their “aloe Vera gel” isn’t actually aloe
I am allergic to Aspirin(Acid Acetyl-Salicylic) and I notice burning sensation with Aloe vera Gel, could that be caused by the Aloe content of Salicylic Acid?
My face has been red and itchy for WEEKS I tried all kinds of creams and face washes to try to help I thought I was maybe have an allergic reaction to something and couldn’t figure out what because none of my skincare or house hold products have changed. Today I put alone on my face and it INSTANTLY took the itch and redness away.
I had an awful retin burn and my skin was wet from plasma and I broke down and bought an aloe leaf and after using that morning and night, I woke up to healed skin (still break outs) but no open wounds and fresh skin!
Dr Dray has done a video on oils called Best Oils for Skincare that might interest you. Natural products is a bit of a misdemeanor really because the term is very broad so hard to answer.
Yay Thank you...2nd lol...i love learning about aloe Vera. A young woman w / acne who puts out videos puts "100 % aloe Vera gel" on her face....i have basically commented that it is crazy...I have known about aloe Vera gel for decades. The actual plant. But I would never ever put this product on my skin in an attempt to fix acne. Am I wrong? Looking forward to watching this. And I have told others that aloe Vera drinks can help with constipation. Lignans are good internally? They are in flax?
Hello Dr. Dray, if the aloe vera contains anthraquinone (which is photosensitive/phototoxin), is it safe to use the aloe vera gel straight from the plant at night (as there is less exposure to sun at night)? Thank you for your response.
I noticed that too, seems extra shiny in this video. It's beautiful oh, of course she's so healthy being vegan and all. Again Dr.Dre you're going to turn me vegan yet.

Yes, you're supposed to cut off the yellow sap, then soak and rinse

So should we not use it for shaving?
What a good idea freezing aloe vera gel in ice cube trays! I already keep shop bought aloe vera gel in the fridge for burns, but this sounds even better! Would also be good for rubbing over your face/body in the summer if the heat gets too much for you. Already looking forward to tomorrow's video.Happy Tuesday! 💕
feels good :)
Dr.Dray you’re so beautiful & your skin is AMAZING!! ❣️
thanks! Happy Tuesday!
Dr Dray this is funny cuz I’m currently watching another video of yours posted on jun 13,2017
So true it looks like a 5 year olds skin!! So youthful
I have a Aloe Vera Gel for the face & body, I use it on my face every night after I apply my serums and before I use my moisturizer. Thank you for the video!!
Even processed aloe causes me skin issues, i get rashes all that time especially the one from nature republic, i even got perioral dermatitis from it
Ugh the nature Republic one was my first experience with aloe and it gave me the worst rash of my life all 9ver my face and I have never been able to use any aloe containing product afterwards without getting rash/bumps from it.
I once cut a part of an aloe vera I had home and put it on my skin and I can confirm, it burn a little bit my face. Now I understand why :)
Does this mean that a store-bought aloe vera gel (made up of 95% "aloe vera from leaf gel" for example) is safe?
I'm curious about this too
100% Is probably a lot better (well obviously lol) I don’t trust those 94-95%’s
@@eylulvv no it s not because 100% means no preservatives wich means very VERY dangerous to the skin if you are not planing to use that gel in less than 3 days. That 99% aloe or 95% it s that way because the rest of the procentages are very important preservatives.
Iza yeah you’re right but I have a lip balm that says 99% aloe vera and it’s literally straight up perfume. Alo vera doesn’t smell like that
@@eylulvv yea, it depends on what the parfume is made out of and on the preservatives used, not the concentration.
Use a face mask with sulfur in it.Then just s gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
I absolutely love aloe vera gel (trusted drug store brand name varieties) as a moisturizer...especially on my face.
Should I change my routine?
possibly, though very very low concentration..i would not use w/ tretinoin though
Dr Dray Thank you🤗
I just started doing the same! I started doing spot treatments to see how it works. Seems to help. Guess i will move the aloe to am routine only
Jessica Galyon i just loved aloe too much to give it up, so I moved it to mornings as well. Good luck if you're just starting on tretinoin.
@@Nrithia I've been doing exactly the same, I apply aloe and then 0.05 tretinoin
Do you have any comments regarding the use of CBD oil infused skin care products?
@Sandra Lffv... Dr Dray already has a video on this. If you type Dr Dray CBD oil into the search box at the top of the page, you'll see it come up, from 3 months ago. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for taking the time to respond/look at my questions Dr. Dray! 😄
Happy Tuesday! I always wondered about Aloe Vera. I really appreciate the science information that you provide and when there is not enough research yet to provide the science behind your findings. I've always been the kind of person that asks why and you provide that information. :)
Happy Tuesday!
Dray!
:)
Sooo it means we shouldn't put aloe vera on eczema...even if its in its natural form
@@coolbeat2644 no she said good for eczema but drain the latex by soaking plant in water. I love it for my dry eczema
Happy Tuesday!! Definitely needed video with a lot of youtubers speaking of this as well, good to know the truth! 😎
Happy Tuesday!

So mam! Can i use aloe Vera gel market one.. after tretenoin as a moisturizer.
As i have oily skin
I want to try aloe to since it worked wonders to a lot of people but I'm getting the feeling that it will only break me out just like any other hyped products out there lol
I'd you use the plant soak the gel in water first to remove the irritating ingredients. It's very good to remove scars wrinkles and slightly whitens skin. But buying from a good brand is better. We here in Africa we use it for all kinds of healing and no one breaks into any rashes or diseases😅
Costco has cerave!!! Praise!
What brand do you use?
Glad to hear it helped you

I have eczema and I love it. It does help hyperpigmentation and the salicylic acid tightens my pores. It's simple to wash out the latex. I get itchy otherwise. But works great. Just the fleshy aloe no yellow latex

Can you do a video about eyelash serums (other than lattise)

Enchanted waters sell 100% pure aloe Vera gel. Just received my order & I’m impressed with how it feels. 🎉
I made an aloe/cucumber gel for my wife it burned her face.I made cucumber juice for her face and it worked great.(no other ingredients used)
Can you do a yes style beauty recommendation from the site?
After applying an Aloe gel would you need to then apply a moisturizer or humectant to retain the moisture?
I personally do
I’ve been thinking about making a dermstore purchase, since many of your recommendations lead me to that site. Can you make a video on your favorite(and least favorite) dermstore products that consumers should look out for?

You are amazing and the only one that gives productive and useful information here.. Thanks so much!
i dont recommend make p:rem and i had irritation myself with australian gold botanical (i think the eucalyptus)
dr Dray it would be cool if you could review the the hada labo shirojum premium line!
The aloe vera plant is the only thing that help me with the eczema in my neck, face.
I have Seborrheic dermatitis, sometimes plain flakes, and I had a shampoo (by Novalis / EU) that had Aloe barbadensis as its very first ingredient. It left my scalp so clear and I could not for the life of me work it out; now that you mention the S. Acid component, it is all starting to make sense to me.
i see that is on a site called la vie pure
I want to know as well because i am thinking of buying it
Why don't you just make it yourself? no need to buy it and you'll get 100% concentration.
Is it safe to apply fresh aloe directly to face for fungal acne skin ?
The same question
Oh! Another aloe Vera "question" - I think a friend had internal burning from chemo or radiation for bresst cancer 😪 She drank aloe Vera & said it helped (hope I have this correctly...been some years)
acv on burns is not advised
Thank you for doing such an awesome job explaining aloe! I found this fascinating and incredibly informative.
Since you discussed icing a sunburn/minor kitchen scald with aloe, could you do a video about the appropriate treatment for these minor mishaps? My understanding has always been that icing any burn is inadvisable, so it would be great if you could address that in the future.
i do have a video on burns where i talk about the steps to take for minor first degree burns
Thank you 🙏
I have been stung by aloe vera gel (it was color and fragrance free). I was so shocked.

For example this product: Aloe Juice (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice) (&95), Aqua/Water, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Why does the skin feel EXTREMELY tight after putting on aloe vera? And does aloe vera have an anti aging effect? Thanks.
I’ve noticed this as well

lignans can be irritating on the skin; but they are present in food
Hello Dr. Dray, if the aloe vera contains anthraquinone (which is photosensitive/phototoxin), is it safe to use the aloe vera gel straight from the plant at night (as there is less exposure to sun at night)? Thank you for your response.
soak the fresh aloe in water and you'll see yellow sap come out of the latex which contains anthraquinones.
