I totally agree, I know this is a late reply, but I remember going to so many dermatologists throughout my life, and they would say, oh it doesn't hurt, then don't worry about it. It's just aesthetic. Yeah it is aesthetic...

@@starletd6819 I was prescribed a 10% urea lotion from babe brand and didn't do shit for me. It actually leaves my skin red and feeling kinda "hot" for a few minutes after applying... And the lotion feels super oily and smells funky... Ugh.

    • @ivnisc
      @ivnisc 4 года назад +29

@@lolll1234 For the best result, yes. The idea is to lock in moisture with an occlusive layer (Cerave cream) so the water on your body does not evaporate and dry out/damage your skin barrier. Dr.Dray mentioned if that's too uncomfortable for you, towel dry to until you're damp and then apply your cream.

@@ivnisc I believe she said that if you find it uncomfortable to just stand naked then still put on the moisturizer right away on to wet skin but then after you can just cover yourself with a towel but not dry yourself with it to relieve any discomfort. I don't believe she said to towel dry until damp and then put it on.

I am amazed at how much information and knowledge you can pack in 1 video. Such a refreshing change from the zillion videos out there on skin care from people who are not qualified to talk about skin care and know nothing about what they are saying. I have always been one to want to UNDERSTAND the logic and science behind things, before making a decision to do something and that's what you provide, so eloquently. Not all doctors have the willingness or ability to do it. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for this very informative video. I followed your recommendation and it made a big impact on my upper arms. The only thing is that I’m using the SA body wash (just on the affected area not the entire body).I was very surprised. After a week of following all your routine I saw a big improvement. I would say my skin improved 85% after just one week. Thank you so much for creating this video!
    Items I use:
Morning routine (I shower every morning):
1- CeraVe SA Body wash for rough & bumpy skin (apply only to the affected area)
2- CeraVe moisturizer (apply right after the shower on wet skin). Let it dry
3- CeraVe SA Cream for rough & bumpy skin.
    Evening
1- reapply CeraVe SA Cream for rough & bumpy skin.
    Thank you again!

14:01 CeraVE Moisturizing Cream after just getting out the shower (you can put it on face)
15:10 CeraVE Renewing SA cream 2x a day (please put this on DRY skin; not wet skin) This is not for the face. Just on the targeted areas where you have KP. [Don’t Use If Pregnant]

This is a REVELATION. I've had chicken skin all my life (I'm 45), as well as severe sensitivities to essential oils and many other skincare ingredients. I've always wondered why my skin seemed so fragile compared to other people's but I had no idea that chicken skin was even a real "condition" let alone something genetic. I feel so much better knowing I have a tendency toward an impaired skin barrier and that there's something I can do about it. Thank you so much!

I was diagnosed with celiac disease 6 years ago & subsequently diagnosed with KP.. which is so bad that it was initially confused for dermatitis caused by celiac disease. I had hopes that eliminating all traces of gluten in my life would help my KP. I also went dairy free for a while. But my KP has only gotten worse over the years and nothing seems to work longer than a mere few days of clearing. After watching this I suspect it’s in part because my skin products and routine have been too aggressive and making the problem worse. I’m so excited to try this. Thank you for posting and explaining the condition so well!!

I have this condition literally all over my body except for my face and neck, every inch of my body, arms, legs etc. I've looked EVERYWHERE for a "cure" or an overnight fix because it's given me some severe body confidence issues, but every time I research for a solution I see that there is "no known cure" and it's so disheartening. I'm 19 and I've noticed this issue since I turned 14 and I'm sick of feeling so insecure about this issue.
Your video has been so informative and I'm so glad I finally found someone who really knows what they're talking about and I hope your advice can help me. Love from Australia

Hi dr. Dray. I've been watching for ages and I have to thank you. Cerave came to Sweden just a couple months ago and i really feel that I can get what I need for a very low price. I've been on tretinoin for adult acne for a while but not been completely happy with all of the closed comedones I still had, so I tried a benzoyl peroxide wash in the mornings and I think that was the best thing to help me on my way. I have the hardest time convincing my clients that they are overdoing it with the abrasive products in the shower. I had chicken skin for a long time on my thighs. I stopped using harsh abrasive shampoos & body washes. I use baby body wash once a week & co. wash instead of shampoo. Now my skin barrier seems to be back and my skin is no longer itchy or bumpy. ❤

It's a vitamin A deficiency. Creams and lotions are not going to help because this is coming from within. You cant just take A suppliments tho. Cod liver oil would be best and with K2 since it has D3 in it. Vitamins are better because they are essential or we die. Get your A levels tested as well as all your levels. All skin issues are within the body. Psoriasis and Eczema are gut issues believe it or not.

Prizzilla I have lupus and it’s literally impossible for me not to have hot water while I shower it’s not scalding but it’s hot. . I do try to take shorter showers but there are some things in life I won’t give up. I have CeraVe and vanicream in the shower which I lather all over my body. I use in the am in shower, CeraVe sa cleaning for face and CeraVe sa body wash. It’s helped me so much as far as chicken skin goes.

I had this condition from childhood through my mid-thirties. That is when I changed my diet and gave up gluten, which improved my skin as well as countless other issues. I also chunked most of commercial skincare and switched to organic coconut oil as my after shower moisturizer. Over time, my skin improved and today, you would never guess I ever had a severe case of this condition. Just offering my experience to help!

I believe the celiac disease affects the skin condition, that would perhaps explain why giving up gluten had such an effect? Allergies can also affect the skin, and you can be allergic to wheat etc.

Your channel helped my skin and gave me confidence to not feel embarrassed of my skin for the first time in my life. I don’t know if you read your comments but I wanted to tell you thank you. 💜

I came across some videos from beauty bloggers telling people that since it's a build up of dead skin they sould take sugar scrubs and exfoliate their skin with it a few times a week and follow it up with some lotion. I may not know much but even I thought that would be irritating. I am so glad you make these videos to give people good advice.

Lady N you can solve this problem with natural masks, some organic materials in your pantry you can use for this is: tomatoes, lemon, acv, turmeric (good for face especially since it’s not acidic) potatoes. There are lots of videos on RUclips you can watch to make these masks.

Waxing is better than shaving as shaving creates irritation and razor bumps. Plucking is too tedious and can lead to your pit hair, an essential bodily function from growing properly again. Watch videos on RUclips on how to make a sugar wax at home and use it. Natural is the safest way
