    WELL I DID SAY "TRYING"!
Still no idea what happened with the Skype audio yet. I did some testing afterwards, and the audio from the headphone jack of the BirdDog Mini also sounds glitchy, so it had nothing to do with the ATEM or HDMI at least. I also just updated to the latest firmware and that didn't fix it. I also tested NDI from Skype into OBS and it worked just fine!
I'm going to continue documenting this over on the forums! Join the conversation there!

Just curious. Your were sending your audio via Bluetooth to your air pods and also trying to send out audio to the atem mini could the glitchy audio have anything to do with that?

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  4 года назад +3

Tim Patek nope, the headphone out on the BirdDog had the same audio glitches. Check out that forum link above, we traced the problem to an incompatible sampling rate between Skype and the BirdDog device.

When you stream using the internal hardware on the Atem mini pro are there sync Problems between the camera video and external audio. OBSoffers a digital delay for the audio. Does amp support that?

Hey, thanks for the video. The info is much appreciated. I have what it feels like a silly question but I want to ask anyway.
I've seen that a lot of people use a laptop to run lower thirds, graphics, etc., and then just use one of the HDMI inputs to connect that to the show. Normally, when you connect a second monitor to a laptop, there is the option to "extend screens", so is that also something that can be done with the ATEM Mini Pro? That way what gets sent to the unit will be different from what is on the main screen of the laptop. It is true that the only way to preview the output would be true the multiview but that way I would be able to run my graphics and still be able to preview my chat with a single laptop.
    Hope all this makes sense.
    Thanks in advance,
    AKSO

I actually love the Robot voice effect, I enjoy how unintentionally funny it is XD But seriously Aaron you're killing it with these tutorials. The joining via skype logo, omg the more you know XD I also did not know NDI was so bandwidth intensive, kind of a bummer.

Hi Aaron I’m sorry to have missed the live version, great job! One question - I’m having a lot of trouble getting quality video to Skype from the atem mini. Any idea what could be the issue? We’re using Skype connecting into OBS via NDI then streaming to RUclips. The end image in RUclips is very pixelated from the Atem, while contributors using mobile devices or laptop webcams are looking good! Any ideas how to fix greatly appreciated.

I ordered my ATEM Mini Pro from a store in Sweden 9 April (due to holiday the order was registered on the 14 April). I asked how many there where on the waiting list before me and got the number 50. The 30 of April I got the message that my order was collectible at the shop. I did not expect it to be that quick so I thought when it was in the shop I would be able to go to the store and pick it up. But I changed the order to be home delivery and got it delivered the 6 of May. :)

Aaron, I seem to be having a peculiar issue . I connect 2 cameras to HDMI 1 and 2 on the Atem mini Pro. The HDMI 2 works fine for about 30 seconds then goes black. Don’t have an issue with HDMI 1. Tried swapping cables, doesn’t help. the HDMI 2 source works flawlessly with another computer or iPad. What am I doing wrong ?

I tried with mac MacBook pro and it also not works. The cable is good I'm shure becouse it works with a monitor, or etc. At SystemPref/Displays I can optimise for BMD HDMI. What can be the problem? I am having huge Audio delay problems when Live streaming. Everybody on the web is recommending OBS Audio delay feature and what not. But nothing works. I can'e believe that this is even such a big deal. How did you do it, that your video quality is so good and no audio delay? Is that because you stream trough the ATEM directly? Thanks for any advice!

I know this is an older video. I get the whole audio thing with live streams. The first sporting event I streamed the entire audio for a volleyball game was trash and I didn't know it until the next day. Aside from the birddog, are there other HDMI to NDI converters that work well? I work for a very small school and we are streaming sports and I think NDI would solve a lot of problems for us. But would be mixing old equipment with new tech.

Could you do a session on how to do single cable deployments - say POE NDI-HX Camera to an ATEM MINI PRO for local live presentation (low latency) and live streaming.

  • @snozcocram

I need to have multiple streams via vMix and a home location camera via the ATEM mini pro on one of the three HDMI input. My guess after seeing this I would need two or three Birddogs and some time to fiddle with the vMix settings to achieve a cleaner split screen.
Or just use a capture card on the PC running vMix and output it directly.
My point of looking at the ATEM is for my want to have a user switcher rather than a virtual switcher. IF anyone has advise please share.

So we can not utilize NDI with the ATEM mini pro like we can in OBS with the individual sources?

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk  3 года назад

There's no native support for NDI in any of the ATEM switchers, so you need to use an external NDI to HDMI device like the one I (tried to) use here.

  • @GaryStockton

A pity about the sound on the Barker call. NDI is cool tech, but tricky to setup. I run it in through Wirecast for my Skype interviews, am testing it out in eCamm now, running a line out from MacBook to the atem to stream.

The weirdest part is there are *no* settings on this thing! I don't see any option to choose frame rate or sampling rate or anything! There's no knobs to turn to try to fix this as far as I can tell!

Aaron Parecki. I have been struggling with NDI and NDI HX. I have the bird dog decoder but it does not work with my NDI cameras because they are NDI HX. I think Skype uses pure NDI. I would like to find a way to do single cable to my camera and use the atem mini pro for local live switching and streaming with low latency. The best right now is running Poe cat6 and HDMI to each camera.

Hi Aaron, I'm trying to stream through the atem mini pro at the same time:
    - videos through OBS
    - a zoom meeting.
In order to do so, I need to connect the USB out from the atem mini to the laptop to connect the Zoom meeting. I could use OBS to record the stream, but I also need it to send videos to the stream.
So I don't know how to record the stream. Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

    • @aaronpk

Birdsell vs. Magewell boxes. When Photo Joseph had you as a skype guest over NDI on the Pearl-2, you said the Birdsell device did sound at 24 hz but the ATEM needed 48 hz. That’s why there was no Skype guest sound. EPOS Vox has recommended magewell devices over other brands to his OBS gaming audience. On his recommendation a spent a few extra bucks to get a magewell hdmi to usb 3 box. Works great. I have seen you tubers with magewell spec sheet for other magewell boxes that show 48 hz audio. You should investigate their ndi box. Sadly on Bh photo everything seems to out of stock. Getting Skype to work as an ATEM camera without a $6K Pearl or ecam live subscription would so nice.

I don’t know, there isn’t much going on here. The BirdDog device’s entire job is to convert NDI to HDMI, and Skype provide an NDI feed, so it should have worked. That said, I think the new version of the device doesn’t have this problem anymore.

@@Chicagocommercialphotography As far as I know, there's no way to completely disable the Skype UI, so you'll always be worried about triggering it to appear if you hover the mouse wrong on the computer. Skype NDI is what's used in actual broadcast facilities for bringing in remote callers to a production, and my hope with this device was that it would be a good way for lower budget places to do the same thing.
