Creating your own SVG file is super easy and quick when you use a FREE program called Inkscape! I love Inkscape and have been using it for what feels like 10 years now (this probably isn't an exaggeration either). I never pay for character SVG files, I create them myself! Create this SVG file with me so we can do an off the mat Envy cutout from the new movie Inside Out 2

I have been using Inkscape for a few years now & love it!! Still learning as I go. You my dear are a great teacher! I think I can now create without having to go back to this video. Thanks for sharing!! Have a blessed day!
I've been using Inkscape for a long time too and I'm still learning, LOL I think this program is so robust that you'll always learn something new with Inkscape.
Hi Ashlee thank you for this tutorial something I have wanted to try. So try I will when I have some time hopefully in the next week or two
Hi Ashlee, first time Inkscape, first time off mat and it came into CDS perfectly, (cut out tomorrow) thank you so much for your videos and constant enthusiasm, it really keeps me going!!! Now on to your Inkscape tutorials………
First time here. WOW! So much information, clearly given and easy to follow. Thank you. Will be watching many more of your videos.
thank you for watching and your comment!
I really enjoyed making this SVG, thanks Ashlee :) I had Inkscape for a while but never used it because it looked complicated :/ lol. I can't wait to make another one :)
Thanks for the video. Your instructions were very clear and get explanation of everything.
Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial, Ashlee, THANK YOU! I love my Cricut Machines - I have the Cricut Explore Air 2, Maker 3 and got the Joy Xtra in January this year. I feel Cricut Design Space is letting its Customers who, for whatever reason, don't pay for Cricut access, down as every new update you now need Cricut Access to use them. Apparently Cricut could be bringing out a Laser Machine at some point, which is great, but personally feel they should concentrate on fixing the bugs in CDS first before releasing yet another new machine. Just my HO ofcourse.
I use Canva and save my projects in both PNG & SVG. [I also use Creative Fabrica a lot as well for SVGs as they come with a Commercial Licence which is awesome] I've not used Inkscape as often as I'd like, so definitely going to watch your tutorials and have a try. 💕💕
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you. Greetings from Liverpool U.K.
thank you for watching!
This is a great tutorial. I have always had trouble with Inkscape!!!! Ugh! I think I will give it a try again. Thank you! ❤❤❤
Learning a new program can be difficult but because it’s free I choose to try and figure it out lol anything to save a few bucks.
i can't wait to try this!!!!!!
have fun!
New subbed here and wow do I love this and YOU LOL. thanks for this Im looking forward to see more of your tutorials.
thank you for subbing!!!!
Yay! it worked with a mouse! THANKS!!
yay!! Glad it worked!
Hey I just found ur channel an I'm a new subscriber here...thanks for the video...this helped me...I never used inkscape but think I'm gonna give it a go...
Thanks for subbing!
I learned a new way to do this. Thank you. I love Inkscape, but don’t use it that much.
Glad it was helpful!
Heading to inkscape...I don't pay for cricut and always want to make my own. Thank you!
Inkscape is the best free program I've ever seen, I promise!
hi just love these character tutorials! my kids beg me to make them stuff like this! are you able to do a tutorial on replicating more complex images that cant be auto traced?
Although this isn't a character tutorial the new svg file that we create is of a realistic image, so this will be really helpful to learn so you can replicate the same steps with realistic characters: ruclips.net/video/Muf-TNp8SHY/видео.htmlsi=81odZt1_dLFZrP_F
❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching!
So glad I found this tutorial. I had ink scape for awhile but I probably need to check for the newest version. Definitely looks like you have more control in inkscape than design space.
Is Inkscape free? 😂 jkjk Excellent tutorial and something I never knew you could do. I think this will help me with 3D printing too, going to save this video for sure.
oh! I've heard that Inkscape can make 3d printing files. I wish I had a 3D printer !!!
That said, Inkscape is free, in case you missed it ❤️
@@ashleefalco I am shocked you don’t already own one!
there are so many options, I don't know which one to buy 😭
@@ashleefalco Pick a Bambu that’s in your budget and you’ll not regret it. 😉
I have tried using Inkscape and it always freezes my computer up. I design my svg files on Silhouette Business Edition.
I’ve never had the issue with Inkscape freezing but silhouette business edition is $$ (and although I have it too, most don’t want to spend the money on an app they could do it for free ya know)
I am having issues that when I trace bitmap my image is not as clear as yours, what am I doing wrong, like it is not a clear image as your is, and my settings look to be set the same as yours. Great tutorial and would work great if I can get bitmap to look like yours! Thank you so much!
Are you using the same exact image as me? If so, try saving the image to a higher quality. If not, choose images that are higher resolution. The more resolution the better the trace.
@@ashleefalco Thank you for the reply, yes I am using the same image, or at least I think I am, I will try changing the resolution if I can. Thank you so much for replying!
Woooo child! I was doing good until you started working on those eyes!! LOL. I will need to watch this video a few more times.
Right when I started working on the eyes, I knew I’d lose someone. Those got a bit difficult but there wasn’t an easier way without leaving a bunch of small pieces later on
Hi,
This is amazing and easy to follow along, but I must have missed something. 🤣😬😬😊
I had the following issues:
1. When I right clicked on the clipart I did not have an option to download, so I selected "save image as."
2. When I put my silhouette to the threshold of 1.000 it turns into a black square, even when I place it on the colored image, it remains a square. Also, if I take the silhouette image down to 0.990, the white part of the silhouette's eyes show.
If possible, can you let me know what I might be doing incorrectly. Thank you.
Hello!
Saving image as is perfectly fine and acceptable. You did the right thing!
Turning it all the way to 1.00 will turn anything black. You’ll want to take the threshold down until you get exactly the image you’re wanting. Once you’re satisfied press update. Depending on the image you may need to go down to .97 (it just depends on the original image).
@@ashleefalco Thank you so much for your reply. I was just concerned because I used the same image as you did (for testing purposes 😊) and mines didn't come out like yours. My image had the whites of her eyes staring back at me. 🤣😄😂
I definitely appreciate this video and will be using this technique for future projects.
Help my Inkscape doesn't have a apply button
I would redownload the Inkscape, that sounds like a glitch.
Can’t figure out how to remove the little dots. I’m using a pen computer
I don’t know what a pen computer as
@@ashleefalco it’s annoying! I’ll try it with a mouse. The pen doesn’t allow me to highlight the nodes to erase them!
Oops, sent send without finishing 🤪! I want to thank you so much for the video. It’s very comprehensive and (hopefully with a mouse) easy to follow! And thanks so much for answering
Can't you get into copyright issues doing Disney characters?
I’m not selling any of this.
Is it inky for $1.99 on Google play?
No. It’s free and a called Inkscape
I don’t think there is a mobile app for it. Just desktop.
Is this legal if you are selling these? Ethical? As a graphic designer I would never use someone else's artwork to sell products.
I don’t sell them
@@ashleefalco Yay! Thanks for the clarification :) xoxox
