    Just finished watching your M1 Ultra unboxing...WOW!!. The timing of that was serendipitous! I will definitely be getting one, even though my hubby has an XTool D 20W, and he's had a LOT of fun with it. I must be lucky as I bought a Maker a several years ago and I've had no issues (Knocking on wood). Now, I'm not using them in a crafting business capacity, more just for holiday decorating and occasional gifts and fun stuff, so I've probably not put it through its paces.

    Yes, I totally agree. I have a maker 3 and had so many problems and Cricut changed there phone support to a call center outside the country and found they had very little knowledge about the machine. That’s why I bought the Romeo. It’s a learning curve but I love it. I’m so glad I switched. Thankfully you have a lot of tutorials on the Romeo. I have learned a lot from those videos.

    I would not recommend Siser cutting machines. Why? I had three Siser Romeo machines, and all were damaged. But that is not the main reason for not recommending Romeo or Juliet machines. It's because Siser is not innovating with add-ons for their cutters. There are no roller blades and only a single slot for a standard blade or marker. The blade module is awkward when inserting the blade, and if it's not done correctly, it will tear up the material. WiFi connectivity isn’t user-friendly, and their software development time for each upgrade is taking forever. The team made promises for new add-ons and additional cutters for fabric back in early 2023 and never fulfilled them. Is the Romeo or Juliet cutting performance any good? Yes, as long as the blade is perfectly inserted at the right height. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend them.
    That said, there is a newcomer in cutting machines for crafters: Singer. Yes, I know, Singer is not well-liked in the sewing segments, but the new Singer Momento 24" Craft Cutting Machine may be a game changer for the rest of the cutter brands. I have the Singer Momento 24" Craft Cutting Machine, and it is fantastic. The Singer Momento not only cuts vinyl, leather, and card stock but fabric as well. The Singer Momento is so versatile there are no limits to what you can cut. This cutter comes with a roller blade, a standard blade, and a marker, and it has housing for both the marker and blade. The Momento hardware is solidly built, just like the Cricut. One drawback with the Momento is the MySewnet Craft software that connects to it-it was terrible when I first purchased the cutter. Will the software get better? Maybe. I noticed Singer is updating the software consistently. So, if Singer gets their act together and fine-tunes the software, I absolutely believe the Momento is going to change the way cutters should be. 😎

    • @ashleefalco
      @ashleefalco  Месяц назад

      the add-ons for their cutters isn't correct - this year they came out with 2 new tools for their machines (engraving tip & scoring tip). It is true that there is only 1 housing for all the tools/blade but I can forgive all that for a well working software. But I do agree their software development is taking it's sweet time to get to where I would want it to be, but on the flip side when they do release an upgrade there's no glitches (unlike Cricut, they release something new and there's a laundry list of glitches that follow).
      I have heard about the new Singer machines! I've gotten a few of their ads and it looks so promising! Especially for fabric crafters! I'm going to look into it more since I keep hearing about the machine and now their software!

    I tried doing Print then Cut today--as I have done many times before-(not the Cricut Access feature) and made sure to flatten each item as before. Today it cut out each and every letter & graphic on the page-not just once but two different times! It's never done that before! There was an update either yesterday or day before so I'm sure that broke design space.
    Plus changing a font takes forever! One time I had to shut down DS just to make it quit!
    I am a relatively new user of Cricut with the JoyXtra but I am seriously looking to change to a Silhouette Cameo.

    I have an Explore Air 2 that has always worked well for me. The problem is design space. I have been asking for ages for them to make a Rhinestone option. If I wanted it now, I would have to buy a Silhouette program to make the Rhinestone project. I would love to try the one by Xtool but need to save up money. So many crafters who were doing Cricut tutorials are now doing Embroidery and laser engraving with massive expensive tools that the average crafter cannot afford. I’ve been totally frustrated with Cricut lately. Their whole focus seems to be on constantly pushing out new machines and VINYL, VINYL, VINYL! I’ve written them many times about this, stressing the fact that not everyone is interested in working with vinyl and they are losing the paper crafters ad a result. When I got my first Cricut machine I was thrilled with it because I could do things I wasn’t happy doing in the Silhouette software. But, constantly trying to get a step on the competition has not been the best for Cricut. But, it’s happening in most of the craft industry. I chuckled when you mentioned the rumour about an embroidery machine, because the SVP group (Singer, Viking, Pfaff) have recently released a cutting machine. I have had Viking embroidery machines since they first introduced one and have updated to the TOL each time. But, recently the quality has dropped odd, they have closed all their branches in Canada and major repairs necessitate sending machines to Tennessee and take months to get back. And their customer service is terrible. Stick to what you’re good at should be a motto for these companies. Sorry for the rant! 😂
