I Tried Mushrooms - Psychedelics and Schizophrenia

  • In this video, I share what my experience taking mushrooms was like. Spoiler: very not good.
There has been a recent renaissance of psychedelic science in the last decade or so, with hallucinatory drugs such as LSD or psilocybin being considered in the treatment of depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This increased consideration of psychedelics has also reignited interest in the similarities of drug-induced experiences with those experienced in psychiatric contexts such as in people with schizophrenia spectrum illnesses. The effects of hallucinogenic drugs resemble some of the core symptoms of schizophrenia.
Not enough is known yet though about whether hallucinogenic substances can be helpful in the treatment of schizophrenia spectrum illnesses or how.

I actually prefer the medical treatment. The meds, but I still like to read about nature's ethenogens once in a while, and why they work. Its a second viewpoint. The drug wears off and sometimes you feel like the computer, your brain and nervous system has been rebooted. There could also be a shock effect like ECT.

Some say, we're actually shamans whom our sick society fails to recognize, I kind of agree with that

The best way not to sink and drown but to float and swim is to default to a state of love or contentment when having those experiences, regardless if they are interpreted as psychotic or divine. View them as gifts from the universe, not as paranoid simulations. The mad person thinks the universe is out to get them, the mystic thinks the universe is working in their favor. The brain is such a delicate mechanism, and so easily fooled. I recall stepping off of a 3-day Carnival cruise that had been a particularly bumpy ride. For almost a week thereafter, walking was a slight problem, because my brain kept wanting to "correct" for a tilting ship that simply wasn't there any more. How quickly we adapt; in some cases, TOO well!

What helps me most of the time is to remember to stay with the breath and approach any negative sensations e.g. a feeling of fear with compassion and softness. Most of the times it makes me recognise the negative sensation is merely an emotion produced by my brain in order to make sense of the experience. This realisation usualy takes all the power away from the negative feelings. Just hang in there and let go. That being said: I do not have a disorder so I can't possibly know how this works for people who do.

Example you want to always breathe through nose as lightly as possible inhale for about 4 or 5 sec then exhale also very lightly for 4 to 5 secs and keep doing it intil you feel your hungry for more air that’s a sign that your co2 levels are rising which help dialate the blood vessels and helps keeping your chest from getting that tight feeling

It's common to hear the warnings that people with tendencies toward psychosis shouldn't do psychedelics, but there's very little published to actually back those warnings up. I'll confess that I thought it was probably just a myth based in people erring on the side of caution rather than a real concern. Hearing about your experience has convinced me it's a real concern and that will inform my caution going forward in the field.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us all! I work in mental health but also enjoy learning about psychedelics and their relation to mental health. There is so much research coming out about depression/PTSD/etc and psychedelics, but the research specifically excludes people who live with disorders of psychosis.
I've been curious why those who live with difficult hallucinations/delusions on the regular may repeatedly take psychedelics/other substances despite it worsening their symptoms.
The way you explained it was super honest and straight forward though.
Sometimes, something is fun the first time.
So we keep seeking that same fun experience.
I've done the same, and I think most people have in some way.
Love your channel! I recommend it to friends and clients alike.
Thanks for all your important work.

    Hey,
I'm not sure how much you've researched psilocybin mushrooms before you took them, but there are a few guidelines that are encouraged to steer you towards having the best possible experience.
Most of what you said like forgetting your name, forgetting who you are (ego death) and loosing touch with this reality are all things that are expected when taking higher doses of psilocybin mushrooms (usually greater than 1g, but it can vary from person to person)
    Here are some basic guidelines:
    1. Set.
Make sure you are in a good headspace before you trip. Taking psilocybin mushrooms when you're in a bad headspace can induce a bad trip. Whatever you are feeling is going to be exaggerated, so make sure you are as healthy and happy as you can be.
    2. Setting:
Where you trip is also very important because of how different this reality can seem. When you forget your name, who you are and how to work a coffee machine, you're not gonna want to be somewhere you don't feel comfortable either. That is just going to make everything worse. Tripping somewhere where you feel safe and familiar with is recommended, especially for first time users and people taking higher doses.
    3. Trip sitter:
A trip sitter is someone who already has experience with your psychedelic, will know how to react and what to expect if someone starts to have a bad trip. These are like your designated driver, they're going to make sure you get back from the trip safely.
However, not everyone will know someone like this. So, at the least, have someone that is sober that knows you are going to be tripping and can help you if anything goes wrong.
    4. Intention:
Before your trip, think of why you want to take these mushrooms and write it down. Is there something you want to gain a new perspective on? Something you need help dealing with? A bad habit you want help getting rid of? Your intention is very important because this is what will guide your trip.
    5. Just let go.
If you try to fight the experience, you're going to induce a bad trip. Letting go can be one of the hardest parts but it is essential to having a good trip.
There is a lot more about these mushrooms that I didn't explain here. I encourage you to do some research and give it a shot again if you feel up for it. These mushrooms have been used for centuries in many cultures around the world to help with many things. They hold a lot of power. Think of the mushrooms as a being, a teacher that will help you gain new perspectives on things. Search up dosing and figure out what kind of experience you want to have. Do you want a light dose that just slightly enhances things? Or do you want a heavy dose that will most likely change your whole perspective on life?
Another thing is make sure you have food and drink ready with you when you're tripping as well as a tidy and clean space because things can seem extra dirty when on mushrooms.
Oh yeah, and don't look in the mirror unless you are prepared to see someone or something else looking back at you.

I came to your channel because I watched a video on what dealing with schizophrenia is like and I identified with it, at least in a mild sense. Also, I've taken LSD hundreds of times when I was young. The experiences I had on LSD help me with my mental state. I learned to identify certain mental states and I've trained myself to realize that "This isn't real. Just let it go. Change your environment. Wait for it to pass. It will pass." To oversimplify.
I already knew that your fourth and fifth trips were going to be progressively worse, before you even got there because you had the memory of the third with no change to your approach. It's that downward spiral, picked up from before, and accelerated. One way I can describe hallucinogens is that they're an amplifier of your existing mental state. There are exceptions, but generally, I find this to be true.
Anxiety is a guarantee for a bad time on psychedelics. Once you establish that memory, it's hard to find the path of your second experience again, especially if you're experimenting without an experienced person around or some external stimuli to affect the anxiety of the previous experiences.
I can think of a couple people that I knew that should not have taken LSD, and in fact, had a bad time and never tried it again. It might have been different for them if they were with someone with experience that they deeply trusted, but I can't really say for sure.
I believe that hallucinogens could be a powerful tool for healing and self-understanding but I can't say that I know how for any given person. These are powerful mind altering drugs that could be dangerous for anyone with anxiety, paranoia or any other issues. Maybe if there were professionals, with strong experience with psychology and psychedelics.
I don't think I would take it today. I know my state of mind. Probably one day, but only when I'm secure in knowing which direction I'll be taking because, like you say, negative effects of a bad experience can stick around for an undetermined amount of time. Or, if there was a pro that had a way to encourage a positive path.
I'm actually a proponent of these drugs. I think they have great potential and good experiences are amazing. But they're not to be taken lightly.
Micheal Pollan's book, "How to Change Your Mind," is an interesting read on the subject.

Having schizophrenia does not mean you need to lose control. When I have audible hallucinations it manifests as music...coming out of fans, that move air, any fan, all fans. But it isn't out of my control, I can change the music to what I want to hear, like a radio station or mp4 player. You can have control of what you hear. Do not let the most powerful tool you have make your life harder. Your mind is all powerful. What you think, even in the back of your mind, is what will manifest for you. Very powerful. Thoughts are everything. Beliefs come from thoughts. Think well my friend.

Many years ago I did psychedelics. In much the same way as you've described - I kept trying. It was never 'fun' - always stressful. I had some symptoms I would call psychotic - unable to sleep. Paranoia. Thinking others could hear my thoughts, some auditory hallucinations - all these AFTER the psychedelic had worn off. I even saw a huge spider in my peripheral vision that vanished into a shadow when I looked for it. My internal noise level was nearly paralyzing for several months. I took all this as a failure on my part - because I knew so many people who claimed to have fun or gain spiritual insights. These things can be tremendously harmful to some people. It's not an exaggeration to say it took me years to repair some of the internal damage - and I really didn't do them many more times than you did. I can also see the possibility for great benefit - but the application has to be all about time, place, and person.

i did 7 grams of mushrooms and completely thought i fried my brain. i will never forget that trip. i was so scared and it made me think i had put myself in a psychosis and i was gonna be in the hospital. i’m thanking god i did this at home because if i wasn’t i would have probably ended my life. the thoughts wouldn’t stop, a million thoughts at once. i had memories of my life if i could remember it but in the moment i didn’t think i was anybody. i didn’t know the meaning of anything. all i could see was my life coming to an end, thought i was going to be admitted and never get my life back again. one thing i learned is once you start getting afraid it won’t stop your trip is ruined and you cannot come back from it. as soon as the anxiety sets in just know that you’re about to have a bad trip no matter how many times i tried to calm myself down i couldn’t. there was about 2 times during the trip my friend i was on the phone with made me laugh but as soon as she stopped talking to me i remembered about the anxiety and it just completely came back. the hours during this trip felt like an eternity i was just closing my eyes waiting for it to go away. i felt so out of touch with reality , my face felt as it was melting as i was crying i felt as a cartoon character. all i could ask myself is why did i do this to myself. i felt like such a failure to myself and my family i was asking myself why did i think this was the answer to my problems. i kept thinking everybody in my life was worried about me and that i would be nothing in life. i kept seeing myself as a little girl wondering why i would give a little girl a drug. i couldn’t stop sweating i had to get completely naked because literally nothing felt right. i was listening to the song loose by daniel caesar before the bad trip started and i remember the part where it said “you coward” and later on during the bad trip i kept hearing that in my head. i felt wind on my face even tho i have no ac or no window open. i used to think mushrooms were the most beautiful thing but i have completely scared myself in a way i have never seen. if i ever do try again i will never take as much as i did. i usually take 3 grams and it’s never enough. as i was coming down my trip i was sitting there wondering if i was stuck. i took the shrooms at 8pm and was still stuck until 1am just in disbelief staring at the wall. i don’t want my trip to scare people into not trying it but please be aware of the outcomes and please take the right dosage. it is the most terrifying thing ever if you mess up in anyway. till this day i still get flashbacks and see the hallucinations of faces i used to see. my room doesn’t even feel right anymore because i remember what it was like on that trip in there. i have not touched shrooms since or had the desire but it just amazes me how delicate the mind can be.

Yea this is exactly these experiences...I never experience entities or out of body experience but what you said is exactly what it is. You think your going crazy and you began to get paranoid that you messed up your life becuase of the way thoughts are being processed. You also have this feeling of insane paranoia with any sound or movement. But I would say when you take a high dose of shrooms understand what you doing. You literally going to put you mind through hell to experience what you need to experience. It's the feeling that you have when you coming down from the high is what your looking for. Just understand that whatever you feeling even if it's horrible it will end so try to coast through the bad waves.understand that you've done it before and you'll be fine. Accept that you need whatever the shrooms are putting you through....that bad trips are always the best because they are confronting thing that need to be confronted

I had a hellish experience on 7 grams also, but 2-3 hours in I was fortunate enough to have had one humorous thought. I don't exactly remember what or why but it boosted me up just enough to feel like I had a chance. I was no longer drowning in it but... vigorously treading water in a storm, doing my very best to dance my way through the chaos. After 8 hours or so I was never so grateful to simply be eating a sandwich, feeling somewhat sane.
I had PTSD symptoms for a few months but it's well in the past at this point. I had a couple 2-3.5g trips shortly after that and they were a mess... I was not ready to go back there. You don't just go through something like that and come back hoping it'll be different. The only way it's going to be different is if you have really processed and healed your feelings about it, and are coming back fresh in some way. That's why I knew exactly where this story was going after the 3rd trip. She didn't change in any way between trips 3 and 4, or 4 and 5, except that she had much more reason to be scared of what might happen... so that's what she got. This is what happens when we have a lack of education and guidance due to criminalization.
I think there needs to be more emphasis on gradual introduction. You have your whole life to explore, if you want. Like, start with microdosing, then mini/threshold dosing, working up 0.1g at a time even. You'll have more than enough to integrate into your life just taking the same low dose even.

Much appreciated video; it reminds me of my one, awful, use of mushrooms.
(For condescending “you did it wrong” types: Obviously my age, intentions, setting, etc were wrong; and I don’t dispute its important benefits for many other people.)
I unreflectively took them one time in 9th grade to “fit in”. I was a deeply insecure teen. It was an absolutely ruthless waking nightmare at the same time that no one around me was aware of my situation. I remember not comprehending what “Name: “ meant at the top of my spanish test. I don’t remember much else thank god but I was off the scale anxious and cognitively incapacitated and it didn’t ever totally go away. Decades of subsequent medications, therapy, exercise, diet, meditation, and everything else, didn’t help at all.

You have such a beautiful way of expressing yourself and describing your experiences. It is great that you experienced one wonderful trip, but it is a shame that the others were so disturbing. A bad trip is terrible because there's no exit, you just have to endure its wrath. Six hours feels like an eternity. As you mentioned, micro-dosing "might" be worth trying. The high is so faint that there's very little chance of a bad trip, but since you've experienced a good trip before you will still get a "playful tickle" to remind you of the wonderous spirit that is quietly speaking to your soul.
DMT is another psychedelic, with the unique trait of only lasting 10-20 minutes. (I shouldn't mention it, because all the literature I've read about psychedelics warns against those with Schizophrenia using them. As you're discovered.) But, DMT is very interesting from an academic perspective if you care to read about it. It's similar to mushrooms & LSD, but the effects are even more spiritual feeling and are almost instantaneous. There's no wondering when it will begin. It hits your brain like a bug hitting the windshield!
Personally, if I had Schizophrenia, I would try meditation. With much practice, I believe you can reach similar mental states. Being self-induced I believe the effects would be even more rewarding because you've made the journey without taking shortcuts.
During an unusually stressful time in my life, I discovered places in my mind where I was able to manipulate visual images within my mind. It was similar to watching the images in clouds floating overhead, but I was able to direct the shapes & colors and they would morph into the next form. Sometimes I was even able to reverse the flow and make the dog turn back into the cow. It wasn't easy, but I realized that being the creator anything was possible with enough concentration. Those stressful days are behind me and I have since lost those abilities, but I know they will return if I need them again. I know very little about Schizophrenia, but perhaps the challenges it imposes could help fuel whatever mental quests you might hope to pursue. Our minds are vast.

The therapuetic dose is waaaay smaller than one you took to have a trip. I had a similar experience to yours and had my psychosis triggered after a dose of 2-3grams whereas when I've microdosed .5grams or less I had improvement in mood and awareness. Trip level doses are dangerous for us.

Not necessarily true, most research on psilocybin involves full doses not micro doses. And most of the clinical improvements are happening at full doses, there is very slim research into micro dosing yet sadly. So most of the experimental research on treating depression, anxiety, and ptsd usually come in at a couple of grams of mushrooms. The same is true of mdma for PTSD. Usually they’re giving subjects about 100mg or one “point”

There was a time when I forgot who I was on high dose of mushrooms, at the time there was no me, there was nothing, I didn’t feel scared or anything really, but all things I knew about “Preston’s life” just disintegrated, I came back eventually with this feeling that I had just merged with the divine. I can’t describe what I saw because it wasn’t I, I don’t know how to describe this. But I never thought this was an experience similar to what people with schizophrenia experience. For me it was enlightening and terrifying at the same time. Enlightening because it was so ineffable and I brought back good memories that have helped me make positive improvements in my life. Terrifying because I can’t describe accurately what it was like and edit me questioning reality and of that was real was that death was it a glimpse into what happens to our soul/consciousness when our bodies die?

This is valuable because it sounds like, currently, conditions such as schizophrenia are screened out of many (if not all) studies on the therapeutic use of psychedelics. To have someone with this type of condition volunteer to take them, could lead to insight. Still, without knowing the precise dose, strain, current mindset, the last time you ate, etc., it's hard to draw conclusions as to the degree to which your difficult experiences were the result of pre-existing conditions or one of the many variables that affect psychedelic experiences in general. Some people take mushrooms excactly fot this: Ego dissolution.
It is not uncommon to forget what you thought before, who you are, and that you took mushrooms. And even if you remember it does not count if you are "stuck in eternity".
    I had this experience myself.
You don't need to be shizophrenic to experience these things.
The horror begins, when you try to hold on, when you try to fight and get out of this state.
It needs A LOT of trust beforehand, or as in my case A LOT of suffering.
If you take mushrooms only for having a good time, they sooner or later will teach you respect.

Aww, thank you for sharing! What probably happened (aside from your condition interferring) was you resisted ego dissolution which lead to your anxiety about forgetting your name (aka your pride wouldn't allow your ego to die).
For anyone contemplating taking mushrooms, think of them as a therapeutic tool and they want to assist you in becoming a better person by focusing on past traumatic experiences and other things that bother your mind on a subconscious level. The mushrooms bring these things to the surface and if you don't confront them head on and literally face your demons, then you'll describe your experience as a "bad trip" ( no such thing as a bad trip, just therapeuticly challenging trips if you resist what the medicine is trying to teach you).
Lastly, ensure you have a comfortable set and setting (mindset and place to take them, preferably with a sober trip sitter who has themselves tripped before), wait 2 hours after your first dose before you take more, and I would advise against taking psychedelics if you are on the spectrum of schizophrenia or have a family history of schizophrenia. That's what made me want to watch this video, I seen the title and then the channel name and was immediately curious.

I'm diagnosed with DID (as well as having a history with psychotic depression) and her and I have talked at length about how similar the experience of being on psychedelics is to having DID. I've been dabbling in some psychoactives/psychedelics and it has really helped with system communication -- it really helps soften the severe dissociative barriers between parts. However, too high of doses have resulted in similar experiences as to the latter trips you described. When I saw this video I thought, "oh no, this could be bad". It really depends on your mood and state of mind as to what kind of trip you'll have. I know if I'm worrying about things, the psychedelics make me feel like there's a coil in my mind tightening up, the worries and fears get stronger and there's more pressure. That coil just tightens and tightens until I either find a release and let it go, or everything breaks and I just start crying my head off. There are great experiences with psychedelics, and there are bad ones, and it really depends on where you are mentally when you take them.
If you're dealing with mental health issues, psychedelics can be very dangerous. Everyone should be careful and understand yourself before taking a new substance.

So, it really means a lot to me that you shared it.
My brother has pretty bad psychosis and schizophrenia from when he used to do me+h and I always wondered what mushrooms would do for him.... if it would help or hurt him. He has been clean and off the M3+h for a few years now, but has been permanently damaged by it. When I stayed at my mom's house, I would hear him at night talking to his voices and it really terrified me to witness that. I've been really wanting to help him so bad and wanted to find people's testimonials about taking mushrooms for treating it. I was hoping it would have an opposite effect for him and possibly reverse it, but it is now evident to me that it could actually cause it to get a lot worse if he were to do it. I had a similar experience with mushrooms as your last trip. I've learned to only use psilocybin when the mood and time are right. In my experience, you have to be in a good headspace or the drugs will amplify negative thoughts. I do not have schizophrenia, but that experience helped me have more empathy and understanding of people who live with serious mental illness. I took positive lessons from this bad trip...but I would never want to go through that again.

I just had an ego death experience the other day while floating on the river. I too saw the simulation. I also experienced this on LSD and I'm certain that it's true. I witnessed the corner of the universe from every person's perspective. It was insane seeing that deep down we are all the same thing and that we have this illusion we are a "self"

Thank you for sharing your experience, it is bound to help others with schizo-affective disorder. 🧡
After watching in entirety, I have a suggestion that I hope you'll consider for future videos. I am appreciative that you offered information about the scientific data & research being conducted, as well not condemning the use altogether for others. I do wish, however that you would have had that snippet in the beginning of the video. So that others could have heard it too, even if they weren't able to, finish for one reason or another.
My husband was dx'd in 2018, the medication he was on killed the man that he was, its like we don't even know each other anymore. I went with him to his doctor appointments and discussing things, and we did end up getting to the point of gettitng him off the medication as a slow taper. But I'm still afraid he's gone & not coming back it is excruciatingly painful for me & he says things, but his words never match his actions. I know that it can take time to get these neurotoxins out of the body....I'm just praying that the damage isn't permanent. This one doctor was describing the effects of this particular medications as being akin to a lobotomy. I had to do some research, as lobotomy wasn't something I knew much about. After doing sp, however, I 100% agree with the comparison.

I am so grateful that you shared your experience and feel you are incredibly brave. Both to try something experimental, multiple times and also to share what you experienced so openly! Thank you.
It has often been my thought that a person with schizophrenia (I support those with this neurodiversity and have 2 family members with it) lives a sort of permanent existence in an "ego melting" state to one degree or another. Your experience of not remembering who "you" are or what your name was is what I believe having your ego dissolve would feel like. I can imagine it would be incredibly scary and while it's something some look for in their psychedelic experience, living with a form of that everyday would be much harder and trying a medicine that could worsen this I find incredibly brave!
    Thank you for sharing 🤗🙏

I also had a terrible experience on mushrooms! Thanks for sharing your experience!
I remember seeing myself and the objects around me, but they had lost all of their meaning. I was the same meaningless clump of molecules that made up the furniture or the walls. Definite visuals of waves from music or television. I thought I was going to be stuck in that frame of my mind forever, and I panicked for 8 hours. Never again!

I tried mushrooms once, over a decade ago, and it was a crazy and interesting experience with the final conclusion "literally never again". I can remember a metallic sound coming out of incredibly vivid candles' firelight, I was an ancient dinosaur in a plasticine marsh green room that wanted to eat me and I couldn't get out, and my heavy tail was annoyingly restless for hours.

@@jsoo67 It was definitely psilocybe. Most likely, psilocybe semilanceata, but I can't be sure about that. I guess the strength of their effect depends on different variables, including psilocin that varies from species to species.

Listening to her experience was like listening to everyone's experience. Psychotic disorder, or not. It's just, with a psychotic disorder, you can interpret the experience in a pathological way, and it only add on to your delusions.
I like to think self awareness will cure it, if you simply leave yourself open to interpretation rather than trying to figure things out.
Unfortunately, this may not be the case. I haven't taken psychedelics longer than when I had my +1 year schizophrenia/psychosis, but I'm ready to explore my consciousness again.
Psychedelics never triggered my psychosis at all. But sometimes weed, and years of stress did.

Thank you for providing a cautionary tale about using mushrooms or other hallucinogenic drugs, particularly for people who have psychotic disorders. I have bipolar disorder, and I have a friend who's been like YOU HAVE TO TRY KETAMINE, IT'S CHANGED MY LIFE! She has unipolar depression, and ketamine has been shown to have some therapeutic value in the treatment of depression. However--and I told her this--I think you have to be VERY careful if you're using ketamine or microdosing when you have a major mental illness that can lead to psychosis (as bipolar disorder can, too). The people who are hardcore pushing people to try this stuff (often instead of meds, which is also dangerous) are a clear and present danger to people with schizophrenia-spectrum symptoms and bipolar disorder.

Thank you so much for the input, I was actually looking into possibly trying it for treatment resistant depression and ptsd. I do not suffer from psychosis, however I did have reservations about it since I have strong dissociative features of ptsd and I am really scared of bad-tripping because of my vulnerability to such stuff. Your story kind of comforts me into choosing to be more cautious about it.

      Try microdosing magic truffles!
Start with 0,5 grams FRESH truffles in the morning. (You need to chew them!)
Then 1 day nothing. Day 3 you take 0,7. And so on. You need to find your 'sweetspot', so begin with a low dose. Upper it with max. 0,2 a time.
      (DAY 1: Microdosing day
      DAY 2: Transition Day
      DAY 3: Microdosing day
      DAY 4: Transition Day
*CYCLE*: continue for 1 to 2 months
*RESET*: 2 to 4 weeks rest)
I promise, you won't go on a bad trip, if you do this. You will feel more relaxed, and your reflexes and perception will remain clear. If you get tired, take a nap. Your brain makes new connections, so that's very normal in the beginning. And when you are under a lot of stress, are depressed, your body goes into rest mode, all fatigue comes out in the first few days. Drink plenty of water and also take extra vitamin C.
      Wishing you all the best!
      Sending you love! ❤

You shared your experiences in a very articulate way - thank you. I am living in Oregon and two bills passed last year which concern me. One of them basically decriminalizes the possession of ANY drugs, including multiple types, so long as you only have a "personal use" quantity. That would include heroin, methamphetamine, and whatever. By "decriminaalize" I mean that you get a fine or agree to a one-time "substance use evaluation" interview-that's it. Seems to me it basically makes using these drugs, some of which have wreaked terrible havoc on hundreds of thousands of lives, not much worse than a parking ticket. The second is a bill setting up psilocybin "clinics". It is true that psilocybin seems to have benefit for some persons with some types of mental or emotional disorders. The problem is that, as you are describing, they can also have disastrous effects for other persons. The bill setting up these clinics not only did not require any screening by any health care professional--it pretty much EXCLUDED ANY type of mental health or health care professional from being involved in the running of the "clinic" or administering the drug and monitoring the patient. Seemed to me like a very poorly designed arrangement. I urge anyone thinking about using a hallucinogenic substance to treat something like depression, PTSD etc. to be evaluated first by a mental health professional to evaluate potential risk, and hopefully find a clinic with staff skilled in using it, monitoring patients and managing any bad reactions.,
