Hey man, I've been following you lately. I'm wondering what about some of those guys like Christian rockers that used to be and stopped believing in Jesus? Were they never saved to begin with or will they eventually be called back?

However, just as there is no sin my child can commit whereby they cease being my child, there is no sin a son of God can commit whereby they forfeit their sonship. A genuine child of God is eternally secure and cannot lose their salvation.

The verses before that were talking about fruits but this verse he didn't mention that. But on the topic of us being branches of him, he continued using that word to remain on subject.

When I first got saved I thought it was just the Catholic Church that taught you could lose your salvation. Blows my mind that there are so many evangelicals that can’t grasp the fact that eternal life wouldn’t be ETERNAL if you could lose it. You’re doing the Lord’s work my friend…God Bless!

@@johna6828 yes, it is. So when you became a Christian, you were convinced of eternal security right away? For me it was the other way around. I used to think OSAS/eternal security was nonsense, I couldn't believe anyone could teach such heresy.
I'm a born-again believer in Jesus Christ. Long ago i had a season in my life where i was deep in addictions. I was entangled. I now have over 30 years of sobriety because by the grace of God He delivered me !! If i went back now to what i was delivered from, my latter end would be worse. Worse morally. Worse spiritually. Worse physically, my health. Worse relationally with the others involved in my life. Worse financially. Worse in every way. My life would become more of a shipwreck than what it was before. That is what this passage in 2 Peter is talking about.
Some people think the glossy graphics and well dressed people make them seem correct. But to deny eternal security and OSAS, they are deceived!

Ask a conditional security advocate how he or she knows that they are saved and have'nt lost their salvation. They will tell you of their works as proof such as their church attendance, bible study, fasting, good works, prayer etc.
That's a good one and scary. I would never trust my salvation on myself who was lost to begin with without Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:9 - But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
2 Corinthians 1:10 - Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
-> These verses are clear that believers have ALREADY been delivered from so great a death, which means they are Once Saved Always Saved. People who teach salvation is not a present tense eternal reality don't understand their Bible.
Hebrews 9:12 - Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

This documentary is carefully curated, edited, and tailored to make you doubt your salvation. Here's what i mean:
1. The video itself is professional quality. When you see a video thats highly edited, has good camera angles and cutaways, and music that sounds like your having a heart to heart with these people, it sub consciously makes you want to lower your guard.
2. Its a collab of people with a high amount of followers, and nobody there to debate the verses they're pulling out of context. Making them the only "authority" that can speak on the subject. If a group of people agrees on a viewpoint (especially people with high followings) we instinctively want to trust them even though we shouldn't.
3. These guys talk like they're an authority figure on the subject and appeal to the pride and ego. Thinking you're a true Christian whos saved vs the Christian sitting next to you in the pew is a proud and arrogant attitude and pride (at least the kind that makes you think you're above others) is a very seductive sin. If youre proud and think youre right about everything youll never listen to any opposing viewpoint with an open mind.

I think that 2. Peter 2:20-21 is talking about unbelievers, false teachers, because they are named dogs and pigs, those are names for unbelievers, believer is sheep that hears Shepard's voice.

The teachings of being able to lose salvation often comes off as being more anti-osas than a well developed doctrine on their part. The Soteriology of the lose-your-salvation teachers seems to typically get very subjective. That is, how much falling away, how many sins, what kind of sins how often in a 24 hour period or if it's repeated sin, how many times must it be repeated before losing salvation? Hebrews 6 is fascinating in that if taken like one who teaches a person can lose their salvation, it would then state that it would be impossible for that person to come back, if taking this verse as the lose your salvation teachers would say Hebrews 6 is saying. But that's a problem, since the call in other verses will reference bringing someone BACK. AndJesus' teaching is clear that all who come (as to be saved) shall in no wise be cast out. Meaning the promise is no-one will experience being rejected if they call out to the Lord for salvation. So, Hebrews 6 doesn't seem to really even fit their OWN soteriology. And that's why to me at least the anti-osas teachers are more about trying to disprove another's teaching than actually developing a coherent soteriology of their own. From my understanding the most developed teachings that would say one can lose their salvation would be the Catholic Church. And we can see how in order to develop this complex maze of rules and types of sins and how to deal with them needs to give a lot of authority to the Priesthood and extra-Biblical rules on how to make up for sins and return to a state of grace and salvation. It seems that without these very definitive guidelines and remedies that are not really found in scripture it becomes extremely subjective to know what saved and keeping it really is. Once the idea of losing salvation is entertained the effects of how we would view Christian teachings on salvation will reverberate throughout all doctrine.

I wholeheartedly disagree with OSAS yet I am wholly secure in Christ. All that you write attacking people like me who don't believe in OSAS does not apply. I don't count my sins every 24 hrs or live in fear of losing my salvation at every waking moment. These are just false characterizations of those who do not believe in OSAS. We are here to seek the truth and nothing but the truth as Christians. Don't need to name call or assume people are malicious or nefarious just because they believe differently than you.
You can deny all the warnings of the bible about falling away from the faith or being cut off and being burned with the non-believers all you want. It just shows that you people like to nitpick verses that support your presuppositions and try to explain away all the warnings and verses that go against your belief.
But all these verses about security and rejection can be harmonized if you frame the question properly. Salvation is not a state of being like living forever or an object like a set of keys. Salvation or Eternal Life is a PERSON, the Person of Jesus Christ, the one true God and Eternal Life - 1 John 5:20.
You can not lose your salvation like a set of keys. I repeat, you CAN NOT lose Eternal Life / Jesus Christ like a set of keys. And hypothetically if you did, you never had Him and He never had you.
Salvation is marriage to Christ as the bible describes. And in this relationship, there is love and support to the uttermost. Yet it does not deny the reality and true logical conclusion that If we can freely "choose" to be in relationship with Him, it logically follows that we can also freely "un-choose" to be in relationship with Him. And the circumstances of why and how a person "chooses" to cheat on their spouse or Christ are varied and highly complicated but they are REAL. And we cannot merely discount people (Christians) who have walked away from the faith by saying that "well, they never really believed in Him in the first place" Or well, they were "non-elect" because the Bible is clear that only people with the Holy Spirit, can call Him "Abba" Father. So it is not easy to see people who once called Him Father to have walked away because it is Not the Father's will that people should perish but rather that they come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.
Finally, the key here to "losing Salvation" is that so long as you don't file for divorce with Christ, you are wholly secured in Him. But if and when and should someone file for divorce with Christ (due to various real and personal reasons that is NOT merely like just losing a set of keys) then eventually He will sign that dotted line and you will be cast out. This is the proper framing and understanding of salvation in my estimation.

The they 2 Peter 2 is talking about is false teachers and false prophets. They may look like the sheep of God but they are actually wolves in sheep's clothing.

It's ironic that those Calvinist types ignore the verse where Jesus explicitly addressed the issue of works, where He said, "The work of God is to believe on Him who He hath sent." (John 6:29). John 3

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Jesus was referencing Ezekiel -
Ezekiel 36:25-27
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Notice who is talking, God; Notice that he did not ask Israel to do anything; Notice God is the one doing, He takes out the heart of flesh, he puts in a heart of flesh, he cleanse them with water, he puts his spirit in them, he causes them to walk in his ways.
This is how we are born again (from above) we do nothing but receive.
God knew Israel could/would never continually believe or keep his commandants, this is why we have the new covenant where he fixes the problem (heart that is disparately wicked).
There are not two gospels, one for Israel and one for the gentiles, Jesus makes this clear when said "other sheep I have that are not of this fold, them I must bring in also.
You can continually believe, chose God and abide when you have God's spirit in you which is the reason he gave it to us. Can you give the spirit back? Which scripture says so? How can you be unborn was God is the one who does it?
About 5 years ago I first heard of Jesus and what he did for us, but it was from Ray Comfort who teaches “Turn or Burn”. This is what I thought was correct for a while. After continuing my search I did hear of the free grace doctrine and believed it for maybe 2 weeks before once again being exposed to the turn or burn doctrines. The teachers who teach turn or burn are very smart with how they use their words and was able to pull me away again. I then continued for over 2 years believing in their doctrine. And during that time just like most people I know who believed it would evangelize in comment sections on the internet. So I too am guilty of preaching such a doctrine. Despite me being a fairly new believer at the time (about 2 weeks of being a true born again believer) in my ignorance I was pulled away from the truth and I know I will receive punishment for both my turning away and preaching such heresy. But I trust that Christ will cover those sins with his blood and that I will be accepted into heaven on that day.

I’m struggling with an addiction.. I’ve been off and on flushing it down the toilet but then giving in and buying more im so tired of fighting I just want to stop and live for God more.
Gods called me off of this addiction but I’m reliant on it and struggling to stop. Every time I do I go into cold sweats I can’t sleep I feel tormented I just want to bring joy to the Lord but I’m a wretched man who can’t even give up a simple addiction.
Christ has paid for my sins I am saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ so I want to live and pursue him I want a relationship with him. But this addiction is in the way. I want to stop I pray and pray and pray and I’m free then I backslide I’m so tired please pray for me. I just want to live for God.
Put on the full armour of God Ephesians 6:11-13. And when you feel the addiction coming, think and do other things. Remember, the Holy Spirit is stronger in us then the devil and sin❤ Praying for you!

@PixelatedMagikarp I prayed for you to be set free from this addiction. I noticed you said you were reliant on this substance. What if you were reliant on Jesus instead to see you through the withdrawls. Perhaps reading the bible or listening to it while going through the temptation to use until the temptation is gone. The withdrawls are going to come, why not just get it over with. I came off an addiction lasting about 25 years during a horrific time in my life. Even a loved one said, now is not the time to stop. But if I could stop then, I knew it would be over and done with. 20 years later, still clean. God bless you through this trial and may He bring you through it stronger and closer to Him, amen.
When you say addiction what do you mean? Like lust? Drugs? Whatever the addiction in order to change your thoughts think about Philippians 4:8, 2 Corinthians 10:3 think about different things when these thoughts appear in your mind. Psalms 1 says to meditate on the word of God day and night, remember 1 Corinthians 6:12; James 4:7; 1 John 2:16, Matthew 16:25, Mark 8:35, Luke 9:24,62; Psalms 37:5; 119:9-11,105,133;Ezekiel 36:26-27; Romans 6-8; John 14:15,21,23-26; 1 John 1:6-9;2:3-6;3:22-24;5:3
Read all these verses they are important and meditate on them day and night and pray to God about this addiction and say no to this addiction you’re struggling with and force yourself to desire purity and righteousness keep feeding your Spirit and not your flesh Galatians 5:6,25 fight the desire of wanting the temptation and avoid the temptations Romans 13:14, 2 Timothy 2:22; Matthew 18:8-9 Follow God and love Him with all your heart!!!!!!! Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 4:1-11; Job 31:1; Genesis 39:5-9 Ecclesiastes 1:8

False teachers referred to as dogs. God’s people are never called dogs. Having a full knowledge and revelation of the gospel and Jesus doesn’t make one saved, placing faith in Him and His finished work does. These false teachers had revelation and seen the light but didn’t accept it. They stayed and preyed on real believers.

I can refute all these works salvation heretics with the story of the believing Man sleeping with his step mother in Corinthians. Read the story and you will see a believer was having sex with his stepmother and Paul never once said he's losing salvation. Paul instead asked God to deliver this man to satan for the destruction of his flesh so that his SPIRIT may be saved in the day of the Lord.

What these men don't understand is that you can know the Gospel and even believe it is true and yet lack saving faith and regeneration. The Jews at Mt. Sinai believed God was real and they were terrified of him and would not trust him. They even believed that Moses was sent from God and were baptized into Moses through the Red Sea... And yet Hebrews says they did not have faith. "So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief." Heb 3:19 King Saul is a perfect example of this in the Old Testament.
To believe that God exists and that he died for sinners is not enough. We must be born again by the Spirit.

They need to be asked if they believe John 3:16. All discussion about salvation starts there. Is it a true statement or not? One truth excludes all falsehoods. You cannot wrestle with that verse by moving on to another verse that you believe makes your case. Is it true? Is anything the bible a Lie? Can God lie?
Don't you find is odd in that God tells us how we are saved, but the actual words that when we do something wrong never say the words, we lose our salvation. I also believe Mark 4:1-20 lets us know many don't get to the point that they are born again verses 14-19. John 6:64 is a verse that says he knows who is not a believer , and will not give life to those people, Judas was a disciple for three years but never believed and he healed and did all that the others did when Jesus sent out the twelve, but he was not a believer but a wolf, or as Jesus said in verse 70 a devil.

Those who are born in Gods Spirit are being renewed and regenerated. Believers are being sanctified into the image of Christ. Those who teach we can lose our salvation.
