I just bought the Orange and I'm very happy with my purchase. Especially after watching this. It sounds incredible in person. I also love the color orange, and I enjoy eating oranges. So it's a triple-win.

Orange is good compromise, it plays also louder clean tones and really cool overdriven. Blackstar has suprisingly good clean tone, nice OD and delay, but is also most expensive. If you're looking for something for home, pedal friendly, try some second-hand tube 5 watter. You can get one under $80-$100 on ebay I believe..
For me, the dirty amps go Orange Marshall Fender Blackstar And the cleans go Fender Orange Marshall Blackstar I hated the whole thing that the Blackstar had going on, way too much treble.
I have one of these but it randomly now doesn't output. Worth mentioning that the sound is better as the speaker is physically a lot bigger than the others

The Orange has an 8ohm speaker out, let's not forget! Huge advantage over the others - I plug it into a 1x12 cabinet at home and the sound is much improved but still quiet. Just as portable as the rest for traveling
For me: Best overall: Orange Best overdrive: Marshall Best clean: Fender The orange had great clean and overdrive tones. For just clean though I'd go with the Fender. The Blackstar was still ok on both fronts but I thought the Fender had a much better clean tone and the Marshall and Orange had better overdrives. The Marshall clean is lacking. So IMO the orange is the clear winner, and I'm normally not a big fan of their amps.
The Orange and Blackstar are by far the best two in all comparisons. Out of those two it's just a matter of personal tone taste. Either one is a good decision :)
As is , out of the box - The Fly 3 is a very small guitar amplifier , and the others are very realistic novelty paperweights , that also happen to make noise . Hooked into external cab , the Orange isn't bad .
I have been playing through an Orange OR for the last 25 years and as much as I wanted to prefer the Orange, the Blackstar sounds twice as good. I ordered the Blackstar with the extension speaker

Honestly for me the Blackstar wins overall, which is surprising to me. Second would come Orange, then Marshall. I’d choose anything but that Fender, but I have no use for cleans and their OD is horrid. (Orange is my preferred brand in tube powered heads)
Depends of what you wanna play. The gain sounds of the Orange are amazing for such a little amp. So it's definitely the winner. However: the clean sounds are not really clean, they always have a tendency to a very light distortion. So I would't use it for clean sounds. The Blackstar sounds not as good as the Orange with gain, but has better clean sounds. What makes it interesting is the extra feature of a MP3-Input so you can jam along with some track. The Fender is the winner with clean sounds. They are really smooth delightful to hear. On the other Hand: the gain sounds are terrible. I've seldom heard anything as bad as this. So this is for all those who don't use distortion. The Marshall is mediocre in all respects, so it's of no use for whatever music you play.
The Fender made me nostalgic. For the days when as a 12 year old I'd lie in bed at night with a transistor radio trying to find a rock n' roll station but always getting stuck between two different stations neither of which would come in clearly.
I'm a Fender fan as well and I agree, but the Fender cleans were nice. The overdrive tones were terrible though. IMO the orange had the best combination of clean and overdrive. The Marshall has a decent overdrive too but the clean was not great. And I'm neither a fan of Marshall or orange.
best side-by-side comparison I've seen/heard yet. I like the way you went through each different sound with each different amp, rather than going through all the sounds in 1 amp and then switching to another amp and going through all the different sounds and then switching to another amp and going through all the different sounds. The Polaris riff at 1:20 through the Marshall sounded exactly how it sounds on the record at the start because of the telephone filter on the song haha. Killer playing btw!
The Orange Crush has the best "tone" for the gain settings, but the Blackstar has the best speaker sound and best definition. Surprised the Marshall wasn't on top. The Fender had pretty awesome gain settings, too.

To me, most of the time, the Fender sounded like it had a blanket over it. 1.Black star 2.Orange 3.Marshall 4.Fender However, the fact hat the Orange has an extension speaker jack, makes me want it over the Blackstar. Wish it was okay for 4 ohms though, as I have a 12" Fender cab, 4 ohms.

So in 93 I recorded an MS2 with an 421 into an ensoniq ASR sampler that had great reverbs. The 421 pushed against the grill to get proximity effect. Everyone thought I recorded a JCM900 or Rivera Knucklehead since we had those in the shop. The SM57 doesn’t quite do it. Also a high quality verb would help significantly.
The fender was too compressed and didn’t really have a “crunch” sound. It was overdrive or not with nothing in between. The Orange was the best all around.
I thought that the Marshall sounded the worst out of all of them with the Orange and Blackstar sounding the best. The Fender... meh. The Marshall sounded like an old Emerson AM handheld radio. Yeah, that bad. lol
The fender overdrive wasn’t good but the clean was better than the others. I think if you use two of these with an a/b switch you’d have a great combo. Say like fender for your clean channel and Orange for the dirty and overdrive channel. I mean they’re fairly cheap so you could easily afford two or more of these.
Amazing to me how they actually do represent the sound of their respective brands when played side by side. To me a micro amp is a micro amp, period. But when you hear them side by side, the Marshall, Fender, and Orange compare with each other tonally like their bigger siblings do. I’ve never played a Blackstar so dunno if that applies... Cool comparison.
Can’t beat those mini battery operated black star amps when it comes to the portable category. Just bought one and It sounds great especially for high gain.

Maybe the orange Mini amp is Worth buying If its cheaper and works with Pedals. I assume it does? Because if not i would Just buy a cheap Pedal to enhance the distortion a little bit. Love the little Marshall . Last time I saw one being demonstrated was at the. Marshall road show back in the 90’s I got to meet Jim Marshall as well which was pretty amazing. The orange sounds good and it’s got a built in tuner pretty handy.
These are the tones I need for a raw lo-fi Black Metal project! They all sounded good in that regard, both clean and dirty tones! Looks like I'll be picking up one of each sometime in the future!
The Blackstar is the only one that didn't sound "small" with the high and mid-gain sounds, and I could see those sitting in a mix just fine. It was also far more harmonically rich than any of the others (listen to the chiming in between the chugs at 3:01 - those harmonics just don't exist in the other amps). The Orange's cleans were good.
I own both the blaskstar and Marshall ones. The blackstar is great as a set of mini studio monitors. Theyre frfr speakers and sound pretty good. Guitar tones are also very usable. The Marshall sounds INCREDIBLE when you output it to a bigger cab or speaker.
Surprises me how people are always surprised at how good Blackstar are. They are great amps. I've been into them for some years now and currently own two.
I have the Marshall and the Fender one, I'd take them with me when i go away for work. I ended up giving the Marshall to my brother as i preferred the Fender, they all sound pretty cool. The fender one had a louder clean tone and it does have twin speakers which is cool too. Cheers
Because there's no amplifier output stage or speakers/cabinet involved. With HP's you simply have a preamp and volume/tone control so in effect you are just getting the sound of your guitar through your headphones.
Needed a new mini-amp for my daughter so I had her watch this video and take her pick. I use and prefer the Blackstar Fly 3 from this video and it is superb. After she watched the video, she picked the Marshall. I don’t think it’s the best here, but it has a distinctive sound/tone. Unique. Classic. A Marshall Amp. The Marshall mystique is real, even to a novice who is unaware of brands and fads. Purchased the Marshall MS-4 online, which compared to the Marshall MS-2 is the “Marshall Stack” version with adjustable gain, essentially the same thing x2. Arrives this week, and I am excited to hear her use it. Thanks Toby, for helping us make a selection!
It's a good comment, because that Fender didn't sound like a Fender. In fact it sounded like a peace of shit inside a can down the hill. Marshall rocks on dirty sounds, but not good for clean ones. I prefer the Rockstar (more like the Marshall overdrive but with great clean tones)
My moneys on Orange and Marshall but they were all surprisingly decent actually. They almost just sounded unique as opposed to bad. I would totally use some of these to add a bit of uniqueness and character to a tone. Good review too!

I love all of these. I’m a fan of the “torn speaker” kind of distortion so even the Fender worked for me. Hands down the best cleans.

Probably because it was treble heavy and the sound is too scattered
The fender overdrive wasn’t good but the clean was better than the others. I think if you use two of these with an a/b switch you’d have a great combo. Say like fender for your clean channel and Orange for the dirty and overdrive channel. I mean they’re fairly cheap so you could easily afford two or more of these.

Amazing to me how they actually do represent the sound of their respective brands when played side by side. To me a micro amp is a micro amp, period. But when you hear them side by side, the Marshall, Fender, and Orange compare with each other tonally like their bigger siblings do. I’ve never played a Blackstar so dunno if that applies...

Can’t beat those mini battery operated black star amps when it comes to the portable category. Just bought one and It sounds great especially for high gain.
The Orange and the Blackstar mini amps sound better than my fender mustang....

Fuse is still being hosted on fansites btw its ridicilous how much is locked away into the fuse Software and how much you can do with it. I think the Standard presets suck in comparison to the Community ones. And Lots of people never use them. Maybe the orange Mini amp is Worth buying If its cheaper and works with Pedals. I assume it does? Because if not i would Just buy a cheap Pedal to enhance the distortion a little bit. Honestly i dont hear how these amps Sound better. And i doubt the people who agreed with this comment or upvoted it ever tried a Mustang or actually went through the trouble of getting to know that little piece of Hardware. In the right hands those Mustang amps are magic

Honestly I really liked Orange, his yes is very full-bodied, but Marshall MS2's timbre pleased me with his drive.

Once dialed in the Blackstar is undeniably the best sounding followed by the Orange Crush then the Marshall, the Fender will make a cool paperweight.
I did a blind test, print screen every time i like the tone and the blackstar is the one that i liked more, and already was the one that i was thinkin to get, loved it
Love the little Marshall . Last time I saw one being demonstrated was at the. Marshall road show back in the 90’s I got to meet Jim Marshall as well which was pretty amazing. The orange sounds good and it’s got a built in tuner pretty handy.

I have the blackstar and it’s a Great amp. Great sound especially with some pedals hooked up and the battery lasts about 2 and a half months at a time

These are the tones I need for a raw lo-fi Black Metal project! They all sounded good in that regard, both clean and dirty tones! Looks like I'll be picking up one of each sometime in the future!

The cleans on that fender amp were impressive. I think the Marshall and Blackstar were best overall.
The Blackstar is the only one that didn't sound "small" with the high and mid-gain sounds, and I could see those sitting in a mix just fine. It was also far more harmonically rich than any of the others (listen to the chiming in between the chugs at 3:01 - those harmonics just don't exist in the other amps). The Orange's cleans were good.
The Blackstar is leagues ahead of the rest. So clean and clear like a real amp

I own both the blaskstar and Marshall ones. The blackstar is great as a set of mini studio monitors. Theyre frfr speakers and sound pretty good. Guitar tones are also very usable. The Marshall sounds INCREDIBLE when you output it to a bigger cab or speaker.

I have the Marshall and the Fender one, I'd take them with me when i go away for work. I ended up giving the Marshall to my brother as i preferred the Fender, they all sound pretty cool. The fender one had a louder clean tone and it does have twin speakers which is cool too. Cheers

I thought that was just me getting confused. I guess they did all sound the same on headphones output?
Because there's no amplifier output stage or speakers/cabinet involved. With HP's you simply have a preamp and volume/tone control so in effect you are just getting the sound of your guitar through your headphones.

Needed a new mini-amp for my daughter so I had her watch this video and take her pick. I use and prefer the Blackstar Fly 3 from this video and it is superb. After she watched the video, she picked the Marshall. I don’t think it’s the best here, but it has a distinctive sound/tone. Unique. Classic. A Marshall Amp. The Marshall mystique is real, even to a novice who is unaware of brands and fads.
Purchased the Marshall MS-4 online, which compared to the Marshall MS-2 is the “Marshall Stack” version with adjustable gain, essentially the same thing x2. Arrives this week, and I am excited to hear her use it.

It's a good comment, because that Fender didn't sound like a Fender. In fact it sounded like a peace of shit inside a can down the hill. Marshall rocks on dirty sounds, but not good for clean ones. I prefer the Rockstar (more like the Marshall overdrive but with great clean tones)

My moneys on Orange and Marshall but they were all surprisingly decent actually. They almost just sounded unique as opposed to bad.
I would totally use some of these to add a bit of uniqueness and character to a tone.
