Erlong was actually helping wukong to get rid of the ring(represents the restriction to his freedom), buddhas don't want wukong being a buddha but play with monsters at the same time(mentioned at the end of 2nd chapter), so they send those 5 monsters to get wukong, erlong killed wukong and give those five things to those monsters so that the main character can kill these monsters and get trained, in order to turn into a "wukong" without the ring(meaning a wukong with freedom), and this fight is part of the training they give to the main character so that it can help him to master the abilities to be a real "wukong"

Game science people in interviews said they couldn't make this game into big open world, because after all they are just a smaller studio with 50 people, energy needs to be put where it matter the most. But with this supernova release, they can afford to hire another 200, not even need to do creative new things, the engine and materials are all there, they can just expand on top of what's already been made, just "milk" this game for a while into a big series, sequels prequels and characters spinoffs, and more importantly make the world part better, it will be also big success for at least couple of years, I don't think a single player would mind repeat similar games when it's entertaining like this.
My guess, many of this first GS first generation staff will end in many big dev (BS definitely already on par with all dev in the world with Wukong success)..Big Dev definitely will try to woe them.. and some of the staff definitely will create new studio and with their great resume as parts of Wukong games creator, investors around the world definitely will invest in their projects. i hope there will be Black Myth: Erlang & Black Myth: Nezha. Wukong, Erlang and Ne Zha are good brothers and they all fight for their own destiny. Erlang and Nezha also have wonderful background lore.

this is not hidden bosses. this game has 2 endings. if the monkey( player) doesn't fight erlang & 4 heavenly kings and win, the monkey won't get 6th relic( which is wukong's vitality & spirit & memory). then the monkey won't be able to resurrect wukong. and the monkey will be put on that golden headband again by celestial court & reincarnate to the next life. its like the movie ground hound day that main character keeps repeating similar bad dreams for eternity. this is the bad ending. basically you fail the gameplay after how many hours you spent on it. side note: the essence of practicing buddhism is to reach enlightenment aka entering nirvana state. just so you can escape reincarnation. in buddhism, immortality could be a very bad thing. this game shows exactly that.😂😂😂😂

Most people who find Great Pagoda will just assume it'll come to play later since nothing happens there for most people when they first discover it. Playing linearly through every level and finishing the main story doesn't involve you going to the Great Pagoda at all, unless you suspect that there might be something worthwhile there before you fight the final boss

side note: the essence of practicing buddhism is to reach enlightenment aka entering nirvana state. just so you can escape reincarnation. in buddhism, immortality could be a very bad thing. this game shows exactly that.😂😂😂😂

i mean it's up to the gamers to find it. Without being spoiled, it is lucky to be able to find those secret maps and find the Buddha in that room after exploring.
And I suppose BMW essentially encourages players to explore the entire map slowly, otherwise you won't get the good ending of Wukong gaining freedom lol

Most people who find Great Pagoda will just assume it'll come to play later since nothing happens there for most people when they first discover it. Playing linearly through every level and finishing the main story doesn't involve you going to the Great Pagoda at all, unless you suspect that there might be something worthwhile there before you fight the final boss
