While it's clear the Voth ships are extremely fast, keep in mind there might have been a few minutes, possibly hours, passing from the time they change shots at 0:25 from the outside of the ship back to the interior.
That's unlikely. It was edited as a continuous sequence. He activates the cloak, we cut to outside and see it activating, then it cuts back to inside and he continues talking.
@@RichardStrong86 It's also hard to believe that they were stood in the exact same position and continued the exact same conversation for 'possibly hours', too. The scene definitely implies it's continuous.
The Voth were very wrong here. Starfleet has tremendous experience with cloaking devices thanks to those pesky Romulans and both experimented with phase cloaking devices.
They cloak by being out of phase with space-time. The fact that Voyager's crew detected them and went straight to knowing people had boarded instead of assuming they're just harmless spatial anomalies, since there's TONS of those in Star Trek's space, is a bit of a plot hole. But they only have like 45 minutes to tell a story so we ignore that.
Why is Voyager using only warp 6? They can make warp 9.975, maybe not all the time but shouldn't they fly a little faster then warp 6 if they want to reach other end of the galaxy? Even 6.1 would make a huge difference.
On Star Trek Online The Voth have cyber armor which is an extra energy shield that is immune to energy weapon fire. That tech is on their ships and ground assualt walkers. Federation phasers suck against the Voth, however Klingon disruptors work better. The Romulan plasma weapons work even better. Most gamers get antiproton beams to deffent against the Voth.
It would make a huge difference, but the slower they go the less maintenance they have to do, and in a resource-scarce area they might need to ration their supplies of deuterium and dilithium.
Just like with real engines, running the Warp Drive causes strain on the components, and lessens the efficiency. Without access to replacement parts or a steady supply of fuel, the last thing Voyager wants to do is shorten the operational life of their Warp Drive.
I know I'm 2 years late, but they wouldn't go at warp 6.1, because integer warp speeds are the speeds where the engines are most efficient. (TNG tech manual). Hence, they'd go at warp 6 or warp 7, but they'd need a special reason to go at warp 6.1.
assuming "90 ly away" was determined near the start of the scene, and ~25 seconds later they just randomly decide that *now* is the right time to pull the brakes... that's 135 million times C (or logarithmically, 10^8.06 C). 70000 ly at that speed isn't even 6 hours. they could have ended the show by doing eight episodes of voyager in a voth ship.
did it only take seconds for them to travel 90 light years, or at close enough so they could have Voyager on their viewscreen (which usually has to be close, but maybe they can see them from light years away)

@@onigojira but that doesn't mean the amount shown is the time passed, they don't generally show a ship flying for an hour if it takes an hour if just sitting there.

rkmugen I agree, change does not come easy but its better than sticking your head in the sand.
Its exactly the same as telling hardcore creationist christians that evolution is a thing and scientifically proven.
I think the writers WANTED you to be annoyed with the aliens.
One of there best visual episodes with one their dumbest plot lines ever
Coleman Trebor is so powerful he came from a different universe altogether 🤣
Its All about Speed no matter whatever time space you’re in.
Traveling at slow as balls speed
Don Won didn't want to go too fast otherwise they may have gone to Plaid.
Bipeds stood up straight. The dinosaurs all met their fate. Though they did leave and they were great the Undine blew their asses off!
I still believe that transwarp speed is any speed beyond warp 10 and what tom paris experienced is subspace drive....
How does someone detect something at Trans-warp speeds?
The Voth were pretty cool once you get past that one issue. I'd like to see them make an appearance in Discovery.
I hope they are revisited and they rejoin Earth
+Nazael Rahl Who in the hell is going to clean the plasma manifolds of all that space goop going that Fast..Hahaha.
This is a great episode very relevant to our existence and origins.
Why do all aliens speak perfectly great English
Rashad Roberts The universal translator is the reason why.
@@Yasuda9000Roddenberry had every TV since 1966 fitted with a Universal Translator. Doesn't seem to work on some foreign movies though
I take it you don't really watch the show
They got a translator up their arses...
There was one episode in DS9 where the universal translators were not working. The aliens heard the humans talking rubbish 🤣
assuming "90 ly away" was determined near the start of the scene, and ~25 seconds later they just randomly decide that *now* is the right time to pull the brakes... that's 135 million times C (or logarithmically, 10^8.06 C).
Yeah, there's no cuts in this. They just found them and caught up to them that quickly. While they were going at FTL speeds. And they matched speeds with them perfectly at close range and got on board. Voth are nuts.
@@onigojira but that doesn't mean the amount shown is the time passed, they don't generally show a ship flying for an hour if it takes an hour if just sitting there.
I wonder how they would compete against the BORG ?
Which episode was this? Season and episode please
Season 3 Episode 23, Distant Origin. Google it and you will find the full episode online.
Eyes open
Why not telling us the episode and season 😔
The thing I find hard to believe is that the Voth would be descended from hadrosaurs. It would be more likely they would be descended from theropods like Utahraptor.
You think you know better than Voyager's computer?
feds should have cloaking lol
what's the episode?
Alexandre Albuquerque - Season 3 Episode 23, Distant Origin
ST: Discovery.. Transwarp is back!
The Voth had a bad Matriarch that's my opinion though she played well. I wish she wasn't so hard headed stubborn.
Voth vs. Borg...hmmmm!
i don't think humans are the only intelligent species in the time has had life, for all i no we could be the 2 or 3 times earth has have intelligent life form like us
Is that faster then transwarp?
Trans wasp is Essentially hyperspace and speed is limited to the amount of power you dump into the engine
what episode is this]
I think its distant origin
So these guys have been space-faring for 65 million years, yet they're only slightly ahead of the Federation in technology? lol
Did the transwarp drive evolve those dinos into the Voth?
