      The show still fell down on its own premise, the pilot has the ship arriving at the very fringes of know space, well outside of the federation. Far point station should be around 2700-3000 lightyears from earth and the ships maximum speed means it should be a several year journey. Suggesting that it was built near by rather than back in the Sol system.
      Despite this the grew makes it back to earth approximately once a season on average.
      It should have been far more like Voyager from the outset but they didn't commit.

      Even if they didn’t - they’re much larger than Voyager. Over a 1000 people on board compared to 150-200 on Voyager. So it’s not hard to believe that the D would have a good sized compliment of torpedoes on board.

      In retrospect, they should have sent a Galaxy class to the Delta quadrant. It has about 250 torpedos and a crew of about 1000. They wrote themselves into a corner with the smaller Voyager. @@calvinnickel9995 Well, yes. Just in the beginning they didn't have the resources to do so, hence the statement that they had no way to replace them. They also severely rationed replicator use to preserve resource reserves. It was poor writing though to never include them overcoming the resource restrictions on screen. Once they found/secured enough deuterium they'd have the energy reserves to make more torpedoes either by replicating components or generating antimatter. Also, given that a chunk of the crew were Maquis, who likely had limited weapons access, it's only logical that they'd know how to come up with methods for making their own torpedoes.

    A full spead of torpedos can be 10 fired from a single launcher from a galaxy class best example is in the movie generations when riker ordered a spread on the bird of prey clocking with its shields down it looked like 1 torpedo but in reality there were 10 all huddled together and can look exactly like a single torpedo so its really hard to say how many the enterprise actually fired during its service but I like this compilation! I don't think that's the case,they had budgetary constraints for the movie so the fx team just done the 1 photon torpedo when the dialogue for riker said "a spread that's also why the bop exploding is stock footage from the undiscovered country.

    • @rikashya
      @rikashya 27 дней назад +1

      @mazzmo77 @mazzmo77 That's entirely possible, too. The movie was already past their budget, so they had to save money somewhere. I'm simply referring to the guides and blueprints of the Galaxy class starship for a canonical reason why we we saw one torpedo instead of multiple fired at the bird of prey in Generations when Riker said "Mr Worf prepare a spread of photon torpedos we have to hit them the instant they begin to cloak. We get one shot at this target, their primary reactor." We have seen in the series in the early seasons when the enterprise D fires a spread it comes out as 1 torpedo and then spreads into several. The best episode that comes to mind we see this in is Yesterday's Enterprise in season 3, and theres a few more I can't think off the top of my head. It could just be a whoopsie mistake they never fixed. Wouldn't be the first one and definitely not the last, Like in the Wrath of Kahn when the Enterprise is trying to escape Reliant in Mutara Nebula and they only had 4 minutes to warp out of the nebula. At one point, kirk asks savak Time from my mark, and she replies, "2 minutes 10 seconds," and then in the next scene, he asks again, and she says, "3 minutes 30 seconds. ".... the timer went up, lol 😆!?!? ruclips.net/video/P6oyiDqrDrg/видео.htmlsi=gabmvL9MGbkvBE0e

    So, let's call the actual compliment of torpedoes aboard the Enterprise-D at 210 torpedoes in the shared main magazine and forty probes of various types, I believe there is 10 types of probes according to establish canon, so let's say 4 of each type at the ready. Know given the sheer size of the Galaxy class in terms of number of cargo bays and overall dimensions, it's entire possible that there are at least a reasonable number of unassembled torpedoes (casing, warheads and other components) say fifty to sixty in storage that can be made viable by a dedicated tactical/engineering team in short order say 36-48 hours or can be transferred to other starships to restock in a combat situation. If anyone says they are just created by an industrial replicator, you can jump right out a dammed airlock.

    A couple things. First, not quite the same as the Voyager one since the Enterprise had the ability to go and resupply (as others have already said). Second, you should have had Data at the end fist pumping from Generations after they destroyed the Bird of Prey to end the video.

    • @jkeelsnc
      @jkeelsnc Год назад

      I wouldn’t. It is generally presented that they are also a defense force aside from their exploratory, scientific, and diplomatic duties. Yes, starfleet is the military of the federation. They are still prepared and trained to fight, most starfleet personnel have a firearm and are expected to be proficient. Also, most starfleet vessels are well armed and defended for their size and intended role. As well they should be. We saw the results of the enterprise b leaving space dock without adequately equipped weapons and basic systems. They have to be ready for anything. Additionally, from the time the first truly deep space vessel (nx01) left earth they found out fast the necessity of having well armed starships.

    And, don't forget about the problematic nature of storing something that contains antimatter on the inside. (Or even something that simply has components that are highly radioactive.)
    Unlike the Dominion, the Federation cannot shape and mold neutronium like plastic or metal. 🍾🛢️☣️
    So, every minute that s photon torpedo is kept in storage, it has to have internal battery power going to generate a magnetic field powerful enough to keep the ordinance from touching the side of the storage tank . ☢️🌐 🔋
    If a photon torpedo is left sitting in the munitions center for too long without being used and its battery runs down ...

    This doesn’t work so well like the others are writing allready. Voyager video was funny when it only have 38 photons but somewhere out of nowhere it manages fire more and more. Enterprise d is different animal all together and also can supply more if some odd reason the crew manages to fire all of the 250 photons out...

  • @MasterofSpiders
    @MasterofSpiders Год назад

    People doing torpedo log with silly music over it for DS9 and TNG are entirely missing the point of the Voyager video.
    With Voyager they started with 38 torpedoes and were all "Oh noes, we can't replenish our supply!!" at the start. And then around season 4 the writers just said "fuck it" and had Voyager fighting new aliens every 3rd episode and spamming their 'limited supply' of torpedoes until they'd used 80+ of their original 38.
    Picard started with 250 and could replenish and Sisko had an entire station full of the things.

    • @02ujtb00626

      The casings and components aren't the issue, it's getting the antimatter for the warheads without taking it from the main reactors fuel. This seems to be solved by the 2370's though. Possibly the antimatter generator tech was then efficient enough to create it for warheads. Voyager had 38 torpedo's initially (although I don't think that is representative for the class) and fired well over 100 over the course of their journey.

      I believe they do have a limited capacity to manufacture some torpedoes when necessary. Of course, they would have to take some antimatter from the ship’s antimatter storage pods that are normally used to fuel the warp drive to arm the warheads. Of course, it would usually be simpler and easier to simply rearm and replenish at the next starbase layover in space dock.
