    *Q&A Part 1*
    - *What's the difference between "Concepts" and "Projects"?*
*Concepts* are basically, the "Alpha" stage projects. They are ideas of mine that only involve specific scenes. There is typically no full-scale planning at this stage. If I like what I'm seeing, I'll begin the planning stages when I have time.
(Note: There is *no* guaranteed release of concepts.)
*Projects* are the "Beta" stage before release. Almost always planned out at this point and actively being worked on. Work maybe slow, but it is ongoing.
*(Note: Except for "Wolf 359" and the "Odyssey Battle", there is currently no release dates for any other project/concept.)*
    ----
*(Project) Wolf 359: The Massacre, Part II - Q&A*
    - *What's the battle going to be like?*
My concept while designing the massacre from the beginning was this:
*In Part One:* Admiral Hanson represents the *old* way of Starfleet thinking where diplomacy and peace reigned supreme and combat tactics were a distant second. This is exemplified by ships allowing civilians to remain onboard despite the Borg threat and Hanson sending in small groups of ships one after another until the admiral himself was killed due to being a poor tactician.
*In Part Two:* Captain Amasov is going to represent the *new* way of thinking for Starfleet. It will be Amasov that develops the first tactics that will be used in future Borg encounters including: "The Battle of Sector 001" and even the "Dominion War." The battle tactics used here may not be the best because this is just the infancy of Starfleet actually getting their hands dirty and fighting hard.
*Premise:* Set about 30 minutes after Admiral Hanson's death, the rest of the fleet has since regrouped at "Fallback Position Omega" near the fifth moon orbiting planet Wolf 359 b. Captain Amasov, now in command of the fleet, has formulated a new battle plan (one that was proposed to and rejected by Hanson himself as being too reckless) which involves a massive "ambush and swarm" attack. He begins preparing a trap to confuse the cube which will enable the fleet to ambush it without being picked off on approach.
Meanwhile, the cube (after holding position and taking its time assimilating survivors and technology from earlier) has been suffering from disruptions to its power distribution systems since Admiral Hanson's aborted assault (the admirals attack did more damage than first thought). Unable to fully regenerate due to these disruptions, the cube is unable to go to warp for an extended period and must travel at impulse speeds towards the far side of the system. As it passes near Wolf 359 b, Amasov springs his trap...
The timing of the Klingons arrival hasn't been finalised yet. They may arrive like what was shown or they may arrive later when things seem bleak for Amasov. Either way, the last-minute arrival of the Klingons will add an additional 25 ships to the fight and basically turn Part Two into a huge "free-for-all." The toll from such heavy combat keeps the cube in a weakened state that will allow the Enterpise to catch up to it later and recover Picard.
    - *Planet "Wolf 359 b" ?*
While attempting to devise a battle plan for Part II, I was looking for anything within the Wolf system that might be useful to allow an ambush attack on the cube as I didn't want the cube to see the fleet coming like in Part I. That's when I discovered the (unconfirmed) exoplanet "Wolf 359 b." I debated on whether or not to use it as a backdrop because of it's unconfirmed status, but I relented and decided to use it anyway because I felt having the planet and multiple moons nearby might make the trap less obvious to the Borg. If it's existence is disproved... well... let's just say I'm ready for that possibility.
    - *What's those flashes of light from the torpedoes?*
Actually, those are specially modified probes that designed primarily to send out fake warp signatures to the cube but also contain small amounts of anti-matter (less than a standard torpedo). Anyway, the flashes are Polyluminus Bursts (warp flares) based on the Voyager episode "Night." The only difference is that here the flares flash (or strobe); blinding and confusing the cube just long enough for Amasov's ships to move in and attack.
    - *Will Riley Fraiser and other character's assimilated at Wolf 359 make an appearance?*
Yes. However, the extent of their appearances haven't been determined yet.
    - *Will the Borg Queen and "Q" make an appearance also?*
They too will make appearances also. Again, the extent of their appearances haven't been determined yet.
    - *Are we going to see the outcome for the Righteous?*
Yes. Those scenes have already been built. But they may be added to "Wolf 359: Aftermath" instead.
    - *You said previously that the Klingons wouldn't arrive in time for the battle...*
    I did say that, yes.
However, while fleshing out the story for Part Two, I read several comments saying that since I'm using a new location to maybe allow the Klingons to show up. I resisted this idea at first, because I don't like going back on my word. However, the more I thought about it the more merit it had, so I ultimately retconned my previous decision regarding the Klingons *not* arriving in time.
In universe reason: let's just say that the Klingons arrive ahead of schedule and surprise Starfleet...
    - *When will it be released?*
Hopefully sometime in September, but it could be as late as 2025. I've been working on it along side this preview to help establish the general direction I want to go with it. I've got the first half of the video in rough draft. But I still have the battle to plot out yet and that's not even factoring in the editing, finalizing the vfx, etc.
    So be patient.
    ----
*(Project) The End of an Odyssey - Q&A*
    - *What's this about?*
My attempt to flesh out the final voyage of the USS Odyssey and the first encounter between Starfleet and the Dominion. This will also showcase the battle from *both* sides, giving us a glimpse of how the Jem'Hadar viewed Starfleet's incursion into Dominion space and some of the decisions they make.
    - *Why did the Jem'Hadar ship penatrate the Odyssey's shields?*
My reasoning is: if a Jem'Hadar solider can walk through a force field on DS9 and their weapons can pass through Federation shielding, why can't their ships pass through Federation shielding as well?
I wanted to show something that wasn't entirely clear in the episode: that Captain Keogh and the Odyssey crew tried everything and did everything right... but still lost.
    - *When will it be released?*
Not until after my Wolf 359 series is completed and released first.
    ----
*(Concept) Star Trek: Generations - The Battle at Veridian III*
    - *What's this about?*
My attempt to fix the halfassed way the Enterprise-D goes out in ST: Generations.
This is based loosely on "ST: Generations - The Game" where at one point the player is forced to deal with an entire fleet at Veridian III that is loyal to Soran. Since "ST: Generations" was directed by David Carson who also directed "Yesterday's Enterprise", I thought it would be fitting to have the battle comprised of 3 K'Vort-class battlecruisers with the addition of a Vor'cha which is the Dura's sisters proper flagship. Only this time, the Enterpise isn't going to just sit still and get her ass kicked...
    ----
*(Concept) Star Trek: The "De-mastered" Series - Q&A*
    - *What's this about?*
I never cared much for the 2006 Remastered space visuals for TOS. I get that they were trying to modernize the visuals to appeal to a younger audience, but in so doing, they lost much of the charm that was in the original model and camera work. Not to mention most of the cg effects have aged horribly in my opinion and ship movements have little to no weight to them.
    - *What does "De-mastered" mean?*
My attempt at going back and approximating the visual style of the original '60's vfx, while keeping (certain) elements from the Remastered 2006 version (like new ship designs, etc.). Also, adding my own elements expanding on specific moments like "The Ultimate Computer" battle by adding new shots but filmed in the '60's style to add more immersion.
    *The Ultimate Computer*
    - *The Excalibur's nacelle caps should not be illuminated or animated...*
Originally, the Excalibur was identical to the Enterprise and the selling point of the shot was seeing her lose power and her engines stop spinning. Then I got the idea to change the ship configurations a bit for more variety and realized the selling point of the shot would be less effective if I made her nacelle caps solid, but at the same time, I wanted to change her configuration, so I kept them as they were.
    *The Doomsday Machine*
    - *Why do I hear the warp engines overloading?*
The same sound effect was used earlier in the episode when Kirk ordered the Constellation be given "full ahead" impulse power. I decided in conjunction with the visual of the impulse engines overloading, hearing the sound of it as well makes the scene more intense.

      *Q&A Part 2*
*(Concept) Star Trek II: An Evil Reflection - Q&A*
      - *What's this about?*
Some time ago I was reading about "The Wrath of Khan's" production on Memory-Alpha and it was stated that at one point very early on that the Reliant was going to be another Constitution or "Enterprise-class" starship. However, they felt that having two ships with similar configurations might confuse the audience and so they went down a different path.
This concept explores what that could have been like had they stuck with the original intent which described her as "an older, somewhat battered starship of the Enterprise-class, with a slightly different configuration." Using the "Phase II" Constitution, minor modifications and wear where made to make the Reliant seem like an older "evil" version of the Enterprise.
      - *Are you going to do the Battle in the Mutara Nebula too?*
Once I figure out how to do the Nebula effects properly, sure.
      ----
*(Concept) Star Trek III: Prologue - Klingon Attack at Ceti Alpha V - Q&A*
      - *What's this about?*
The idea behind this concept is my attempt to answer why the Enterprise looked so much more battered and worn when we see her in ST:III compared to ST:II.
*The premise:* Having intercepted Admiral Kirk's report to Starfleet about the Genesis Device and coming to believe that Genesis is a weapon intended to annihilate the Klingon Empire, Captain Kang (joined by Captains Koloth and Kor) leads a task force into Federation space in an attempt to locate the Genesis Planet (home of what he believes to be a secret base to launch a first strike against the Empire), and destroy this base at all costs.
But he doesn't expect to come across his old nemesis (and supposed mastermind behind Genesis) Admiral Kirk near Ceti Alpha V, just as the Enterprise is preparing to rescue the crew of the Reliant...
      ----
*(Concept) Star Trek III - IV: An "Enterprising" Voyage Home - Q&A*
      - *What's this about?*
I always wondered how ST:IV would have gone had the Enterprise survived ST:III. Based on my research, the Enterprise's destruction wasn't in the early drafts of the script for ST:III. But it was later decided to destroy her because they needed a dramatic life or death decision for our characters.
In this scenario, the Genesis Planet decays sooner than in the film. By the time the Enterprise arrives, the planet is already beginning to break up. The first half of the battle with Kruge is largely the same. Except, the automation center doesn't overload this time and the Enterprise is able to raise her shields. When Kruge returns fire, the Enterprise still loses power but the automation center *isn't* knocked out. This time, the Enterprise manages to return fire with phasers and torpedoes and blows Kruge out of the sky. Chekov soon locates Spock, Savvik and David and beams them aboard just as the Enterprise makes a daring escape...
After her three month stay at Vulcan, the Enterprise will be in better shape than she was in ST:III thanks to assistance from the Vulcans in making "basic" repairs and cleanup, as well as Scotty having the time to perfect the automation center. As such, she'll be able to withstand the "pound" of slingshoting around the Sun to return to 1986.
Obviously, many sequences will have to be different from the film as the Enterprise can't land or cloak. Spock can use some 23rd Century technobabble to hide from the primitive satellites from 1986 similar to how Voyager did in 1996.
      - *Does this tie into your "Star Trek IV: Probe" video?*
Indirectly yes. I haven't had the skills necessary to pull off some of these sequences like the crash or fleeing Genesis until recently so it's been on the back burner for some time. As far as the crash goes... I have an alternate outcome if things don't work out. We'll see...
      ----
*(Concept) Star Trek Nemesis: Battle Group Omega Arrives - Q&A*
      - *What's this about?*
Another scenario I've pondered over: what if "Battle Group Omega" arrived instead of the Romulans? According to Memory-Alpha, John Logan (who wrote the screenplay for ST: Nemesis), wanted the battle in the Bassen Rift to be fought with a fleet of vessels, not just four. However, it would have been prohibitively expensive at the time so the number of ships was reduced.
As to how the battle plays out? It'd be about the same as the film, only more drawn out. Specifically, the Scimitar's attack on the USS Galaxy will be longer as I envisioned her to be much "tankier" than the Valdore. Thanks to post-Dominion War upgrades, she actually has stronger shields than the Enterpise-E, but less overall firepower despite being equipped with Quantum Torpedoes. Except for the Valiant and Nova (whose small size and high maneuverability will make them hard to hit) the rest of the fleet will be easy pickings for the Scimitar.
The Romulans would still arrive but their arrival would be pushed back until after the Scimitar was destroyed. At which point, Donatra would offer assistance to the now wrecked Starfleet vessels.
      - *What ships are these?*
According to the tactical readout in ST: Nemesis the ships are:
      USS Galaxy NCC-70637
      USS Intrepid NCC-74600
USS Valiant NCC-75418 (Encyclopedia states Intrepid-class, chose Defiant-class for more variety)
      USS Aries NCC-45167 (Renaissance-class, Ambassador-class sub type)
      USS Hood NCC-42296
      USS Archer NCC-44278 (Excelsior-class)
      USS Nova NCC-73515
      - *The Scimitar is supposed to be partially cloaked for this scene...*
In this depiction, the Enterprise manages to disable the Scimitar's cloak very early on in the battle unlike the film. This was done because of difficulty emulating the cloak effect used in the film, so to make life easier for me, I dropped it.
      ----
*(Concept) Battle of the Omarion Nebula - Q&A*
      - *Will this be expanded on like Wolf 359?*
Yes! I hope to make it a similar format to what I used for Wolf 359:
      - The Prelude
      - The Battle (One-part battle this time)
      - The Aftermath
We'd see things like the Jem' Hadar beaming onto Tain's bridge moments after Odo and Garak leave and capturing him. We'd also see the battle from maybe both perspectives including from other ships in Tain's fleet and it would continue until all of Tain's fleet is destroyed.
I haven't given it much thought so far, but it should be doable.
      *(Q&A Continued in next comment...)*
      ----
      *Q&A Part 3*
      *(Project) Alien 3 - The Alternate - Q&A*
      - *What's this about?*
The idea behind this project was to fix and/or flesh out (not just the intro) but specific scenes for a personal fan-edit of "A3" to answer some lingering questions left hanging since the films release. These include but are not limited to:
*- new expanded intro, including two facehuggers* based on the original novelization of "Alien 3" by Alan Dean Foster*
---- one is the "Royal" facehugger which infects Ripley and later the Ox/Dog (haven't decided yet)
---- the other is the normal facehugger we see in the original opening which causes the fire, this one dies on the Sulaco
---- moved the eggs to the dropship landing gear (where they should have been from the start)
---- the Sulaco computer attempts to contain and extinguish the fire (which fails)
---- three EEV's are launched instead of one (one of which crashes into the Sulaco causing an explosion)
      - revised EEV crash sequence with onboard computer readouts detailing why the pod crashes
      - revised scenes involving the rescue ship USCSS Patna
      - revised ending which reveals the fate of the USS Sulaco based on story elements from the game "Alien: RPG"
      - *BONUS!!!* a separate "dream" ending for those that consider "A3" to be a hyper sleep dream
      - *What does "The Alternate" mean in the title?*
This project is based on my personal head canon which considers the film "Alien 3" (as we've seen it) to be part of an alternate timeline from the film "Aliens" and the game "Aliens: Colonial Marines." This way, its story doesn't interfere with either, yet can still remain canon (...at least to me anyway).
Which means that I've made the deliberate decision to *not* fix the visual continuity between films. Instead, I'm embracing David Fincher's art direction and set design for the Sulaco in "Alien 3" to sell the idea of an alternate timeline. Only the hangar bay set was retained from "Aliens" but re-colored and set brighter (to be more "dreamy" looking) to look how David Fincher might have filmed the set had he used it for "Alien 3."
      - *Are you going to explain the egg plot hole?*
Obviously, I subscribe to the notion that the Queen was responsible for it. Either she laid them intentionally as "Emergency" Eggs , or they 'leaked' out of her wound from her missing ovipositor.
Either way, I like to believe that they started out as small "ovarie-like" nodules encased in slime (that would account for why Ripley didn't notice them as there is slime all over the place - in fact, I envision Ripley using a flamethrower up inside the landing gear to clear out any surprises, but the slime protected the nodules). These nodules began absorbing minerals and nutrients directly from the metal hull of the dropship and started to grow. After the egg's matured, emissions from the Sulaco's reactor core roused the facehugger's from dormancy and they began moving about the ship. At that point they were unaware of the survivors in stasis. But as luck would have it, the creatures moved in the general direction of the cryogenic compartment and as they approached, they began to sense the survivors and moved in for the attack...
It's not a perfect solution, but it makes sense to me.
      ----
      *The Final Shot*
      - *Is this part of Wolf 359?!*
No comment. I simply placed it here because it's a kick ass shot and I needed a big finisher for this video. Only time will tell if this gets used in a project...

It’s my one argument about folks bigging up Voyager and the Defiant in capabilities due to tech advancements or a focus on fighting. Like sure pound for pound maybe they can blow the former flagship of the Federation out of the water. I disagree but maybe. But like literally any advancement or military focus they make is counteracted by the Galaxy being like 10-50 times larger. They could take out some of the schools and note I say SOME of the schools and have more space devoted to weapons than either ship can fit inside their small hulls. Hard to believe Starfleet would just shrug their shoulders at whatever perceived deficiencies the Galaxy had and not just slap in new shield generators and phasers and load in quantum torpedoes.

Wow, there is so much here…another 2-3 years worth of ideas! Your Wolf 359 series has been everything we’ve wanted for 30+ years, and I’m so looking forward to seeing the story of Capt. Amisov and the USS Endeavor. Turning the Battle of Veridian III into a real battle where the Big D goes down guns blazing? Beefing up the last stand of the USS Odyssey? Yes please! Interesting what ifs with Star Trek II, III,IV. I too had read Reliant was originally supposed to be an older well-used sister ship to the refit Enterprise and while I think they made a wise choice in creating the Miranda class instead, I’m looking forward to seeing this. Nemesis needed an appearance by the full fleet and Enterprise-E getting an assist from a Galaxy-class on screen one more time; it would have made Scimitar and even more epic final boss, Shinzon more sinister, and the stakes of Picard’s ramming and Data’s sacrifice even more desperate and heroic if they were trying to protect the beat up Federation and Romulan fleet. Nemesis would have been far better with this and all those deleted character-driven scenes that would have made it feel more authentically Star Trek. Good work! You get better, JTVFX. We’ll be here when your on the mend.

That’s Trek combat. Or at least the incremental improvement that time and nostalgia allows for. Full impulse in Trek is .25 light speed and weapons ranges go out to 300k kilometers. Trek capital ships move like fighters in some other universes because impulse is not just fusion rockets. It’s basically Mass Effect drives without the branding. They lower the effective mass of the ship so they turn on the proverbial dime. Its just that folks were nostalgic about the limits of a low budget 60’s TV show and we’ve had to slowly creep along through the decades making their movements and weapons fire ever so slightly faster but not too much faster or it scares the horses. We still are nowhere near how unsettling watching “actual” Trek space combat is and why ships need building sized computer cores and sensor arrays to even be able to hit each other at all.

I think I speak for quite a lot of people here who are incredibly happy that someone has been found here who really understands what the fans of the first series want and has the ingenious skills to realize it. I think it's great that on the one hand you research alternative script variants and realize them, like the intervention of the fleet in Nemesis, and on the other hand you just do your thing and give the Enterprise D a really honorable exit at Veridian III.
Take your time. Do it the way it suits you and take care of yourself. You're putting an incredible amount of energy into this and I hope the reactions of the fans - and in this case YOUR fans - help you to recharge your batteries, at least a little bit.
And as I said in another comment on your artwork:
You would be one of the few people here on RUclips whose great work I would really donate to. All the best, Alex

I love your attention to the Galaxy class in the Generations, DS9 and Nemesis scenes. And looking at the viewing trends/stats, it seems like those are the ones that are really resonating with everyone! It's amazing how you're making so many people happy with this - thank you :)

Holy shit. I was literally holding my breath for half of the video. The Nemesis remake is one of the coolest thing I've ever seen and I've seen a lot, since I'm into VFX myself and have spent hours analyzing each frame of star trek battle scenes. Especially the ones from Nemesis. Please do more. And do it quick, I need that :D

I can't wait for this your videos are awesome.
I rewatched Best of Both worlds a few days ago and your depiction of the battle fits in perfectly. Whenever I watch the episodes I will always cut to your videos. It'll be great to see Asimov in action, and the klingons.
I love that you've researched real science like the potential planet in the Wolf 359 system as well.

First, I hope your health improves.
Second, that updated Veridian III fight snippet is the most beautiful Star Trek-related thing I've seen since the second season finale of SNW. You're treating the 1701 D like the kickass lady she is!
Third, I felt cheated out of a fleet battle in Nemesis. Good job, especially having a Galaxy class leading the charge.
