    The spore jump is stupid in concept, but the FX are so good it still manages to look kind of cool. Until you realize what you're seeing and then it's like people doing DBZ instant transmission, but in a serious live action non kung fu movie.
    Also, even though they can teleport anywhere and arrive standing still they still always teleport 5 feet from their enemies, JJ Trek style.

    • @alejandronopasanada5302

    • @builder396
      @builder396 21 день назад +7

      Honestly, I dont think the FX work is good, though it comes more from the creative decisions than the craftsmanship. The idea of the saucer surfaces spinning opposite ways and then ALSO having the ship do a fricking barrel roll to jump is just "Spinning is so much cooler than not spinning!" that clearly came from a person about as mature as a 12 year old. And then you can also clearly see the ship going up or down out of the shot, which is plain and simple not how teleportation or temporarily dipping into an alternate dimension works. The shroom space isnt above or below the camera angle, the ship would just pop out of existence for an outside observer, not move in any kind of direction.
      I honestly miss the times when the creative decisions behind FX shots were sound and the ability to execute said decisions lagged behind.

    • @_martian101
      @_martian101 15 дней назад

      The concept is not stupid smh, I think it's as exotic as other star trek jump technology, we're too primitive to comprehend the science behind this tech

    • @_martian101
      @_martian101 15 дней назад

      @@alejandronopasanada5302which is realistic? Too much progress resulting in massive catastrophes, like the time travel tech started the time war, so they make their progress constant in purpose instead of exponential growth, after 1k years they still not able to travel beyond milky way, that's extremely low of progress

    • @_martian101
      @_martian101 15 дней назад

      @@RealLordVoldemort Discovery STILL isnt well received though. at least TNG went to syndication and had several other stations broadcasting the show half a week after CBS aired the original episodes and people tuned in, one way or another. In regards to trek sci fi, they still relatively base as much as they can in reality, aside from "technobabble" dialogue filler. some of which ended up becoming REAL technology. like cell phones, and the study of a real warp bubble, creating the concept of the theoretically possible alcubierre warp drive, without needing more energy than all the suns in the observable universe combined, to achieve. And transporters, were in fact proven real, at least on the atomic scale, using a single atoms and trapped ions, and through dual photon experiments. that was proven plausible in 1997, with experimental physicist Sandu Popescu in Italy.

    Details bother me. Some shots have the saucer section disks spinning one direction, then other shots have them in the other direction. Some shots have the top half of the disks spinning in the opposite direction to the bottom half of the disks, and other shots show both top and bottom of the disks spinning in the same direction. Some shots show the top of the disks spinning one direction, then other shots show the top of the disks spinning the opposite direction. Same inconsistency when viewing the bottom of the disks. When the ship is viewed from the front, sometimes the ship spins clockwise and sometimes counter clockwise. Sometimes far future Discovery jumps mid spin and sometimes spins then stops then jumps. Where's the consistency?

    So, If Voyager that lost in delta have spore drive, could she get back home faster?

  • @GaryGyarados
    @GaryGyarados 14 дней назад

    I would love to know how many light years they spore jumped in total because the idiot writers failed to realize that it would be the amount of years the ship would have traveled into the past. That is the outcome of removing relativity from space travel.

    spore drive is more accurate than warp as they always warp into an asteroid field.

    That spinning in place is stupid. DIdn't watch the show (stopped at Enterprise), but isn't this a perfect time window to shoot at the ship? It remains in one place for at least 2-3 solid seconds. Or it becomes intangible right when it's spinning?

  • @deltadom33

    How do they get exact coordinates, so they dont spore jump into the middle of a black hole or a sun or a planet
    What if they spore jump on another ship or in enemy territory
    With voyager spending like 7 years to get home and then ds9 using the wormhole
    If you can travel instantaneously then you can't discover anything new
    I dont why in star trek picard or in star trek discovery you didnt see the time ships or the slipstream drive

    Considering the fact that I am personally a Star Wars fanatic, with almost no knowledge whatsoever about Star Trek. I'll give them this: They sure have some unique Starship designs, and I will say, this weird one here still seem to maintain the typical aspect of those famous Star Trek designs, while putting quite the interesting SPIN on the design, ey? EY? Spin? Because, you know... It spins... Eh, whatever. It's cool, okay? As someone who have no clue about Star Trek, I will say this ship here is cool. And the spinny thing it does is... Well, it's certainly a unique take on traversal, if maybe a bit silly looking. But hey, seem like they make it work regardless, so a thumbs up from me.

    I know it's all fiction & most NuTrek is very bad at that, but the physicality of it is beyond dumb the more you see it. At least old Trek (66-05) had science advisors of what is practical & maybe achievable at some point in the future. I would love to see a US aircraft carrier spin like that before sailing away! Great video.🖖

    God, that is the worst FTL jump drive in all of sci fi. The whole spinning and the sound effects are so cartoony and silly.
    How has anyone on that ship not suddenly thrown up when they look out of a window during a shroom jump?
    This has nothing on BSG's FTL or, you know, classic warp drive.
