Man your sound is out of this world. The layers of reverb, delay and mild modulation just blends so well into a sonic dream. And your playing....FUHGET ABOUT IT.
Awesome. I'm 53 and decided to go to college. There's a guitar club and everyone has an acoustic and are beginners. Brought my custom Flying V with floating Floyd Rose. I showed how to do a simple dive bomb and harmonic rise. At the end of the first meeting some went out and bought electrics. Just showed them for fun.
I remember one substitute guitar teacher i had for a while that had one of those really noce ibanez models with the handle carved out of the body, i asked him what the significance of thw me whammy bar was to him and his answer was magical it was something along the lines of, “that, my good sir is an essential staple of all rock music” and proceeds to do a dive bomb followed by weird picked note lowering bends. But unfortunately you don’t appear to have one so let’s do something else.
Whoa. By any wild coincidence - are you the FOUNTAIN PEN R. Binder? Holy Moley, I'm-a being stalked!!! It's stubby, here if soo-oo! My other persona has activated - Rock Star - has been in ascendency for YEARS now. If you'r NOT the "real" Richard Binder tho, boy am I ever babbling... .
"I'm not going to do that..... because I can't"..... That made me smile. I appreciate the honesty. I've been playing for what seems like a million years, and there are a few licks that I can't do also..... that crazy-fast Eric Johnson hybrid picking lick is one of them.... :-) Keep up the great work and the videos. You have great tone and serious chops.
I like the lick you play at the start 0.08 to 0.11 . I use variations on that combination of notes a lot as they're comfortable to play but always sound interesting especially with the flat 5. Great lesson by the way. Very clear and well explained.
L.M.A.O. I still say it, don't give up, theres plenty of material out here today more now than ever, so use everything that's out here to help you like these vids, some are easier than others, some are harder, depends on your skill level, I read tabs, watch these kind of video,s and jam with some friends that show me some cool shit, but what really makes me go after it ,is I love a song SO DAMN BAD, IVE GOT TO KNOW IT, I JUST HAVE TO OR DIE, plus no matter how long it takes you , you will build up a nice song list,it may take a while, but you,ll get there just like I did, you start with one then just keep going, and before you know it, you,ll have a mean song list, and be playing pretty damn good, so don't worry about how long it takes or how hard you think it is to get down tight to a T , just make sure that when you do learn a song get every sound you hear that you think is the guitar, even go after other sounds you hear in a song, for me, I LOVE IT WAY TOO MUCH TO STOP, ID DIE IF I COULDNT PLAY MY GUITAR be honest, ask yourself, how much do I love it? is it something I have to do ? am I willing to put the time and dedication and make yourself learn it, no matter what else happens in your life play that guitar, and keep playing it, but only stick to it if you truly love it and must do it , because it means more than anything else in your life, its at the top of your to do list everyday, if your heart has to have it, then don't worry about it, just keep at it, and give it your all don't go at it half assed, give it all you got, try as hard as you can, everytime you pick it up give it your absolute best ,put all your heart into it, it,ll come ,
Almost any lick/ riff becomes easy once you've playec it enough. Even a song you might struggle with for months suddenly your at practice and the drummer tells you you are playing it way too fast.. Then i clicks..... You've gotten used to struggling so as you improve you subconsciously increase the speed so it still seems like you are struggling the same when in fact you are attempting to play it much faster than previous.
this isn't for immediate and general beginners. it's for people who're comfortable enough with minor pentatonic and certain alt stuff. should be for beginner shredders.
Do more of this stuff. I'm just getting into sequencing patterns all over the neck, through scalar runs and pentatonic runs, and it is improving my technique beyond my expectations! I'm moving onto arpeggio patterns around the neck, so I was very interested in your George Lynch lick. Very tasty! That can, of course, be used for both major and minor arpeggios, and is a neat little utility device. Great videos, very clearly taught. You've earned yourself a brand new subscriber, my friend!
Been playing for a few months now I am completely addicted since I've picked up my electric i am in love I've just been playing by ear kinda just getting a feel for my guitar that's cracked I got from a pawn shop lol but hey it works...but these type of videos keep me going and keep it fun! So thank you ^_^
The hardest part of all of this, for me, is the picking hand patterns - shortening the pick movements and getting the direction right. Thanks for describing the pick directions - that is super helpful.
I thought you were going to play Cliffs of Dover with that bend at the beginning! Great and helpful video my man \m/! Summer just started for me, and I am ready to give my all to the 6-string!
I guess I was talking about just the general sound of the bend, in how it sounds like the bending sound that Eric plays in the beginning of Cliffs of Dover. I actually didn't know that was on the 1st string lmao.
Great content!!! Thank you very much!!! If not asking too much, is it possible for you show how to do the very first lick of the video, or more licks on that style! Cheers and thank you
These are licks that everyone should practice all the time. I have been doing these licks every time I pick up my guitar (except for gigs cause who wants to listen to that). My playing has gotten noticeably better in just 2 weeks. Thanks for the guidance:)
This has been a fun thing for me to jump into first thing in the morning for some new ideas. Love the pace of this vid for my skill level. Or lack there of. More like this man!!! Really loving it.
Wow i love your play and humble way to conduct your channel and your funny manners to open it..keep rockin my friend in music..im a guitar player too. Keep the good work flowing and up!
hey dude, nice video, thanks for the licks; i like your open ended teaching approach. (i.e. "i use my pinky but you can use your ring..or w.e.") i try to adopt a similar approach in teaching..one of the best players ive met holds his pick with 3 fingers, so are we to say the best way to play! keep rockin
I like what I hear/see/learn here....>>>THANKS A BUNCH.... U try an observe everything I hear, like a Sponge... applying my resolves on each note....Good Teacher...Make It All happen... Happy New year...This also teaches consistency and good focus... Thanks again...
I started out thinking it looked hard but by now I know many things do, and I caught on after repetitive exercises and now the only thing I need is to speed up about 10 times more and this will sound good. Thank you so much!! I need to push myself instead of strumming things I already know over and over.
Robert Baker: I've always enjoyed your guitar tutorials. You take complicated progressions and riffs and explain them in an easy to understand format. Kudos!
I gotta say...out of all the years of searching for good, well explained guitar videos, you take the cake. Thank you. I'm both enjoying and bettering my skills through your videos.
Move your arm untill you can make it, keep practising that, u will notice that u gain muscle memory, try a different sit technique and keep going untill u get it, u can do it!
For someone who “cant “ there sure was a great moment where it sounded perfect like u were gonna take off and play cliffs of dover anyway thanks for the lesson
You need to slow it down a little K we're not as good as you brother we need to see your fingers more and less blurry movements LOL you're too fast so can you please slow it down so we can see what you're doing
David Smithers I used to have a cheap Harmony acoustic that I would keep in the bathroom for my extended visits to the throne. That was before smart phones so now I spend my time on the shitter watching Robert Baker videos.
Dang. Five years ago popping up on me now. Great playing. 😊 I'm stealing that one and playing it in the second part first and the first part second. 😅😊

Are those fret dots lit up or do i have a tumor?
you have a tumor
Haha nope they light up 😉
jam now on guitar both
It's not a toooomah!
eddie julian I love kinder garten cop!
My goodness that guitar glows like the sun ! Great color .
I know i love this one
Robert Baker what guitar brand is that guitar?
It looks like sun burst and cherry burst. The red definitely looks better than the black on the edges with regular sunburst designs. Sick
Didn’t realise it was there till you mentioned it.
It’s the lights 😋
Man your sound is out of this world. The layers of reverb, delay and mild modulation just blends so well into a sonic dream. And your playing....FUHGET ABOUT IT.
Now i'm about to overly use these licks
Same! :D
same lol
That is an excellent idea brandonn

Richard Binder sounds like an awesome guitar wow
Waselt youtube is a great tool for making random people think their opinions matter lol
Waselt No problem didn't take it personally. I'm not a bad player but damn that whammy is fun.
If these licks are easy there's no hope for a guitarist like me at the moment 😆
Dont give up... practice everyday ....you will be there

I love the LED fretboard inlays. That looks like and sounds like a nice guitar too. It looks very well built.

I thought you were going to play Cliffs of Dover with that bend at the beginning! Great and helpful video my man \m/!
Summer just started for me, and I am ready to give my all to the 6-string!
RC32 I thought that too
Ye exactly my man. Cliffs of Dover, on it's own, is a very iconic bending intro!
Yes
In cliffs of cover the bend was on 1st string, but rob did that bend on the 2nd one mate.
I guess I was talking about just the general sound of the bend, in how it sounds like the bending sound that Eric plays in the beginning of Cliffs of Dover. I actually didn't know that was on the 1st string lmao.
one seemed a gilbert lick from "will my screen door stop neptune", awesome
Can you please do a video on some fast, shreddy 80s licks to incorporate into your solos. Love you bro.
I cant stop looking at that guitar ! Wow so beautiful. And the lessons are killer too. Thanks
Great content!!! Thank you very much!!! If not asking too much, is it possible for you show how to do the very first lick of the video, or more licks on that style! Cheers and thank you
Hey! Awesome video! We are a rock band from Singapore, and find this video useful in writing more original music!
I liked the intro lick the best
Thank you for showing us the licks first so we know which lick to learn
That was freaking mind blowing!!! Thank you for this lesson! Especially, the George Lynch one!
These are licks that everyone should practice all the time. I have been doing these licks every time I pick up my guitar (except for gigs cause who wants to listen to that). My playing has gotten noticeably better in just 2 weeks. Thanks for the guidance:)
Really ?
1:49 who else looked around their room
Dude i love that guitar I’ve never seen the fret dots light up like that before
Awesome, awesome, awesome! I only wish that you broke down that first intro lick!
This has been a fun thing for me to jump into first thing in the morning for some new ideas. Love the pace of this vid for my skill level. Or lack there of. More like this man!!! Really loving it.
The bohemian rhapsody solo Is one that comes to mind as being deceptively easy. It's difficult to learn, but once you get it down it's easy as pie
Nice job. Understandable and you can break it down. This will take a while to digest. Thanks for making it a little easier.
8:15 when people ask me to keep playing a song after i play its most popular riff
You can combine all these licks into one nifty solo. Good stuff.
Great vid YT guitar brother!
i am also your yt guitar brother, just mum loved me less );
and it shows in my playing
Hey man I love your videos
Finally a video that doesn’t have a guy talking a whole hour before showing, this is great lesson, thank you
Oh I thought these were riffs by bands. These are your own. IMPRESSIVE!!!!
Wow i love your play and humble way to conduct your channel and your funny manners to open it..keep rockin my friend in music..im a guitar player too. Keep the good work flowing and up!
Cool lesson, especially the first lick sounds really great! And the guitar looks awesome btw...😍
Besides the guitar being amazing that Hey Arnold shirt just takes me back to the simple days of being a kid
Shit that guitar looks and sounds amazing!

Thanx Rob. I've been trying to teach other people that it's not that hard.Thanx because You make it look easier than I can.
That's an awesome lesson! Thanks!!
hey dude,

applying my resolves on each note....Good Teacher...Make It All happen...
Happy New year...This also teaches consistency and good focus...
Thanks again...
Does that guitar have LEDs in the fretboard? That's bad ass. I want one with tri-colour addressable LEDs ;D
I started out thinking it looked hard but by now I know many things do, and I caught on after repetitive exercises and now the only thing I need is to speed up about 10 times more and this will sound good. Thank you so much!! I need to push myself instead of strumming things I already know over and over.
The easiest solo I learned in less than an hour was the "Adrian" solo from Stranger In a Strange Land. It still sounds great
Great solo!
Thanks man .I enjoyed licks 1 and 4 the most. Great to add them under my fingers...
The Title to your video should really be: Advanced guitarist playing licks that are easy for “HIM” to play!! Now your video title fits your video!!
Dude your fretboard dots looks so cool man
This lick videos are top top top, keep them coming.
1:30 cliff of dover? Is that you around here?
Omg i was just learning that song rn

Robert Baker: I've always enjoyed your guitar tutorials. You take complicated progressions and riffs and explain them in an easy to understand format. Kudos!
Robert Baker hey where do you live?
thanks a lot man
Thanks for sharing the techniques of these licks! Good job!
Are those fret markers Glowing??
Yes
They're called Inlays bruh
No but you are 😉
@@beefcake4089 smooth. Still not convinced they aren't glowing tho
Cool lick ideas! I like the clear pickguard and the lit up fret markers.on your guitar.
The first two riffs sounds like they're from cliffs of dover
Geez! Nice guitar! 👍 Thanks for the lesson!
Didn't know Joe dirt could shred?
I gotta say...out of all the years of searching for good, well explained guitar videos, you take the cake. Thank you. I'm both enjoying and bettering my skills through your videos.
the second lick reminds me joe satriani ten words
Exactly what I thought aha
@@bendobbing9239It is.
Great video Robert! Going to implement that second lick in the appropriate key for some improv solos on tour!
woah, what guitar is that? I've never seen that brand before.
TrippyTheShroom darude-sandstorm
Its a Vola
I'm sure you just attempted to make some sort of witty, smart remark, but it completely fell flat. Sorry guy.
Vola Zenith
Limited edition Gipsun Statapull
This is great. I love watching students light up when you teach them things like this.
"Easy licks that sound advanced"
Dude catches fretboard on fire 🔥
Great lesson. Thanks. You are now my new guitar teacher.
Can someone help? My hands are too small to play the first lick.
just a youtube commentator same bro I don’t know what to do, plus my slow fingers
Put your thumb down and your hands cannot touch the back of the guitar arm
Move your arm untill you can make it, keep practising that, u will notice that u gain muscle memory, try a different sit technique and keep going untill u get it, u can do it!
i liked the video at 0:20, solely for his hair, it’s the greatest thing ever
Notification Squad 👐
yeahhhh boiiii
What you're doing is awesome. And the way you present it is awesome. Seriously. I wish I had this 30 years ago, lol. Keep it up man. All the best
What's the name of that electric guitar? . Much appreciated
Its a Les Paul gibson. It's very expensive tho
Its a Vola zenith BBA
Awesome lessons, now Im inspired to put it down on the strings YEA!!!! great right before a power chord lesson
I'll just use my tongue to lick the guitar.
When you do, please post the video here on RUclips. :D
As long as it sounds good.
Great tone, and skill set Bro !! 🎸😃🎶🎵🔊
For someone who “cant “ there sure was a great moment where it sounded perfect like u were gonna take off and play cliffs of dover anyway thanks for the lesson
Appreciate you sharing the licks!
Don’t try to do the first one on an acoustic you’ll die 😩
Thanks again for helping us expand our riffology. I always get good take- aways I can realistically apply to my own playing ! Peace !
These licks aren’t hard.......... unless you do them at the speed of light like my mans
Your channel is great Robert!
I’ve been playing for 7 years and I can’t do any of this
Cant wait to play this for my guitar teacher! He’ll be blown away! :)
You need to slow it down a little K we're not as good as you brother we need to see your fingers more and less blurry movements LOL you're too fast so can you please slow it down so we can see what you're doing
Wayne Campbell you need to slow your sentences down and use some punctuation my dude
_carl even though you don’t use a full stop. Lol
@No you this has nothing to do with fps. He is saying it's too fast for him to follow. More fps won't make it play slower.
@No you this doesn't make any sense. If it's too fast to see it's also too fast to follow.
I love this kind of licks! Thank you so much!
Lick #4 sounds like something Avenged Sevenfold would do
Patriots Fan in pretty sure they did because that's what I thought also, maybe somewhere in the stage?
Patriots Fan hail to the king actually
Nick Palmer hail to the king song or a song in the album?
I thought the same thing!! I have Synyster Gates’ signature guitar haha
Subscribed! Its always good to learn some new licks! 🔥
Wow Robert what's her name? She's glowing
I'm Batman Hey man, it's in the description if you haven't found it yet.
Great licks man!!..can u please do a lesson on that lick u play in the very beginning of video?..Thx Robert!!..You are a fantastic player!!
It is very hard to poop when you hold a cuitar
David Smithers I used to have a cheap Harmony acoustic that I would keep in the bathroom for my extended visits to the throne. That was before smart phones so now I spend my time on the shitter watching Robert Baker videos.
Dime bag used to write music on the toilet lol
Thanks. I think it would be nice to explain over which chords you would use those licks, in which tonality and all ...
I thought it was a girl playing for the first 20 seconds

Why you have so many guitars and amps? you even dont play with all of them.
Dont you want to do a CHARITY and donate one of those baby´s for me ?
You greedy little shit
I just heard about you on Chasing Tone and your helping me get my lead better.
Thanks my Mann! Like how you break things down!
Thank you very much - nice variety, clearly demonstrated. I appreciate it!
Robert, can you give an example (or lesson) on when to use the diminished lick? When it's appropriate or not appropriate? Thanks!
Dang. Five years ago popping up on me now. Great playing. 😊 I'm stealing that one and playing it in the second part first and the first part second. 😅😊
Some great ideas there. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow rob. You’re tone has really become good!!! I dare say best tone of the tubers I follow
