      @
      Riffs are easier for me lately to full speed. The last year or more have me bouncing from riff to riff.
      I am having trouble completing full songs. My spacial awareness and timing is a problem especially in busier songs with more than basic drums.
      Drums fills end up distracting and confusing me.
      Do you have any courses that teach complete songs?

    Great riff choice! I was like.. yeah I'm a intermediate player for sure. I will give this RHCP song a try.. sounds easy. Man, it was tougher than I thought! Lol!! Sliding the notes instead of hammering them down is what makes it special. It helps a lot to practice grooving

      Awesome!! I loved your comment. Yea it's a bit of a tricky riff - especially going from that top note, all the way down to the 1st fret of the low E string. That's a big jump. Nice! And for alternate picking, try to play the Thunderstruck parts like that with every note picked and no pull offs. It may take getting used to it, but it´s worth the patience. The same goes for the intro of Be quick or be dead by Iron Maiden. Still having trouble with that one but I´m getting there. (The second time they play that lick in the song it´s faster, quite hard with alternate picking - what´s holding me back is hand synchronization. I can pick at the required speed with my right hand but that gets ruined when my left hand has to press the strings to get the notes. But sometimes I manage to get it. 😀)

    On the Low e string when playing 0 5-7 The line connecting the 5 and the 7, does that mean you don't strum after the 5 and let the 7 plays off the 5's strum? also, I don't seem to hear the second 5 on the low e? what am I missing? Thanks. @willripleyguitar

    Is there someway to just get the drums separately?

    • @willripleyguitar
      @willripleyguitar  Месяц назад

      I would have to package those up separately. What you could do though is just play with a metronome, or find drum loops at different tempos. On each one of the lesson segments, there is a 'technique checklist' which also lists the bpm of each drum loop. That will at least give you a starting point! You can also just keep coming back to this lesson and the loops and keep jamming with me

    Very well done! Unifying practice and song learning is great. Sorry to ask, but is the TAB of Thunderstruck right? The descending part from fret 12 doesn't seem exactly what you are playing...

      Glad you like it! Yes, I think so! Instead of making it super super long, I split it up in 2 sections to show the decending line and the repeated bit at the end. Hope it lines up!

      Hey Nick, thanks. I don't coach 1-on-1 much anymore, but I do group coaching inside of The Rip It Up Club - my online guitar coaching platform. I go live weekly, and record 1-on-1 videos for people who upload their "weekly challenges" on the "Student Stage" - it's all in my online community. I'm just creating a new website and video for The Rip It Up Club right now and will do a big relaunch starting on Jan 1. Does any of that sound interesting to you? lemme know

    Hmmm...if I'm not mistaken, these are not rock licks and riffs. They're backing tracks to play lead riffs over, right? This is absolutely a great resource, no doubt about it! But I kept expecting the lead licks.
    Guess it doesn't really matter. Lots of lessons available for many, if not most, of these songs here on RUclips.
    In any event, thanks for putting this together.

      Well there is the Sweet Child 'O mine lick at 5:43 - and I don't think it's right calling Thunderstruck and the intro to Sweet Child "riffs" - rather they are maybe "leads"? anyways, glad you dug it!

      Very very close... it's actually the OG Gibson Slash model. It came out in 2008. I think there was 1800 of these made. I was working at a guitar store - Long & McQuade (here in Canada) and I pulled it out of the box, tuned it up and fell in love with it. I couldn't bare to see it hanging on the wall and put it on a payment plan hahaha. I believe they called this Vintage Sunburst, but you are right, it's pretty much the Slash November Burst. What are you strummin bruh???

      @@billyc6678 They are MojoTone "Classic pickups" which are basically PAF pickups with a little more bottom end - it's a 2008 Slash Les Paul.

      How would you use these riffs in different ways in different situations?

    • @why_the_etude_matters
      @why_the_etude_matters Месяц назад

      @ knowing the intervals and rhythms I would transpose them and insert them into other riffs, licks, or even solos. I’m classically trained, and as such I can work that out and transcribe it in standard notation myself. But maybe your students would make good use of that information. Your approach is solid, and by the homage to the Police on the muting technique one of the greatest riffs of all time.. Peace, love, and music.. .
